Stopped in on a Saturday just after 8:30, when our first choice restaurant in the area had no tables, and everywhere else was packed or closing soon. This place was close to our hotel and open later than other spots. To start, we had the grey shrimp croquettes. It was pretty underwhelming because there weren’t much shrimp in there and what was in there was dry and rubbery. But the main courses were a bit better. Hubby had the filet americaine, aka beef tartare with frites and it was a huge portion. They def add mayo or some kind of sauce to it because the color is different than what we are used to in the states. I was hesitant about it at first just because it looks different but we both ate it and were fine, thankfully. Both this and the shrimp app came with a much appreciated salad. I had the mussels with garlic cream and frites and really liked it. The sauce was nice, there were only a couple of pieces with sand, and it was a huge portion. The cafe is definitely a tourist trap but one of the better tourist traps because the food is actually okay. Only thing that’s sketch is that they don’t accept credit cards, so just keep that in mind.

Was trying to find a different place but ended up here somehow but I think we got lucky! Such a lovely place with delicious food. I love that they brought bread and butter while we were waiting for our order, these details can be important... We ordered the tomato/mozarella salad, cod fillet and vol au vent. Everything was very well made, even the fries on the side but my favorite was the cod for sure! The cod fillet was cooked just the perfect amount, the potato puree was a bit under seasoned but it was fine. We didn't have the time to try out the beer, unfortunately. But I did manage to buy some from the market the following day and I really liked their blonde beer. Would highly recommend!

Great location! We walked up and were able to sit immediately. We sat outside and enjoyed the ambience. I had the smoked salmon and my wife enjoyed her meal, too. They did not rush us even though people were waiting. Highly recommend

September 2023 The restaurant is located little away from the crowded area. It is in between St. Catherine and Grand place. Staff is very nice and food options are good. You will always find it full but you can find seat. There are many non-vegetarian (meats and seafoods) options available. You may not find many vegetarian options. There is sitting space outside and you can enjoy your drink.

Great service, all the staff were very friendly and all knew how to speak English well. The food was very good as well, we had the traditional Flemish beef stew, and mussels. They also have a great selection of Belgian beer. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended 🙂

Staff were really friendly and you can try all the traditional Belgian dishes. Portions are huge but save room for the lovely desserts. Worth seeking out for the beer as well.

Lovely restaurant with traditional Belgium food. We had the cherry beer rabbit and my boyfriend had meatballs in tomato sauce, both were perfect. Obviously had Belgium beer, and despite being the Grimsbergen cafe it does have a good collection of other beer as well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The food was delicious. Order from the local section and get anything with stoemp! The sausage was savory and smokey and the gravy was plentiful! Great beer selection as well. It helps if you speak French, but some of the waiters do speak English.

The food was good except for the sausages, they were over cooked. The beef stew is easily the best dish they serve and their fries are good but really greasy because they’re fried in pig lard. The service was good.

We were here with a large group in a separate room. Service was okay-ish. In the beginning, the staff was very friendly but after a while they started rushing a bit and seemed to have lost their kindness a bit. Food was good (I had the salmon appetizer and beef stew main course), except for the creme brulee; that was too sugary on top and too liquid on the bottom. Overall, we had a nice evening. The electrical outlet in the toilet needs some looking after

Good option for some nice Belgian food and beers of course. We loved the carbonnades (a beef stew cooked in beer, Belgian cuisine classic) and the Angus fillet. The courses are normally served with fries or salads. One main dish and you will be fully satisfied. Nice ambiance inside and large terrace to sit outside.

A gem of a find, the food was wonderful, we tried the Flemish Beef Stew, which was hearty and warming. The Sausage and Stoemp you can tell was homemade, the sausage was flavorful, and the stoemp with a hint of sweetness from the carrots. Finally the Americain Prepare was a burst of flavor, the richness offset by the olives and pickles.

We got this place as a recommendation from our hotel staff, and I can say we’re very happy! As entrance, I got garlic shrimp and my husband Garlic snails.. really nice! As a main dish I got the flemish stew, it was beyond delicious and my husband got the rabbit, he was in heaven according to his face while eating it! Hahaha really nice local place to eat! Friendly staff!

Our favorite Bistro on our 5 day trip to Brussels. Best mussels ever and thanks to our waiter for guiding us to the garlic and cream version. The meat balls and flemish stew get high marks as well. The Grimbergen bruin beer was a favorite. I describe it as a tasty beer you can sink your teeth into. Highly recommended.

Excellent Belgian food- House specialty was the stew which my spouse loved, but I had a massive pot of mussels that was well worth the price. Kids loved the spaghetti bolognese and veggie lasagna.

Really nice place! Not only great beer but amazing food! We had a traditional (and huge) smoke ham with mustard sauce and a steak tartare. Both are well served and very tasty! By far, the best food we had in Brussels, and of course, great beer. It is not that cheap, but it is worth every penny.

Came here for dinner while in Brussels and enjoyed the food here. We had shrimp croquettes which were not the best. We also had Mussels in creamy garlic sauce which we enjoyed a lot !! The place was quiet on a Wednesday night but the servers were attentive and friendly. I ordered a 3rd dish and when I noticed that the portions are big, they didn’t mind canceling it ! Would definitely come back again anytime I am back in Brussels !

Tourist trap!!! The waiter bluntly asked for tips. After trying three credit cards (AMEX, Visa and Master), which had no problems anywhere in Europe, he said that none of them went through and asked to pay cash. If he did not ask for tips, i would not have thought much. Anyways, this place is shady.

There are both indoor and outdoor seating available. There are plenty of local brews to choose from (even for a person who don’t drink any beers). The staffs are knowledgeable on the drinks and they are happy to help you to choose the right drink for your meal based on your preference. The portions of food is enough to share for two people.

I highly recommend having lunch/ dinner here. The atmosphere, the food, the service are all just great and it is also budget friendly. If you want to have the mussles by yourself, i suggest you dont eat anything before hand because you will be stuffed! And if ur not much of an eater, you can share it. 100% will go back for another time.

Service was excellent. Very friendly and efficient staff. I was only there for the Grimbergen beers which I loved. 5 out of 5 for the beer. My only regret is I was not hungry enough to try the mussels which had an absolutely delicious aroma, from the diners seated next to me. Hopefully, I get to try them next time 🤞

We've ordered a few main plates, a dessert, a beer, and a few glasses of cava. Prices were quite moderate in comparison with the other places near the Fish Market. Food was cooked and served in a proper way. Chocolate cake with a hot chocolate and ice cream was terrific. One of the best ones we've ever tried. We've also experienced a good service. Nice Cafe for a lunch, late dinner, or just some drinks.

Average restaurant but great service. The regular mussels I had was too salty...a bit disappointed. A 500 ml-bottle of plain water was 5.5 euros, more expensive than beer. They have a larger than usual toilet for women in all the restaurants I've been to so far. Regular mussels with fries were 21 euros. Gratuities are included in the price thought there is no clear indication the percentage. Vol-au-vent ( chicken on pastry shell) and mixed snack plate with cheese n salami (11.50 euros).

Can’t separate the bill (One payment per table), cash only! The food is nice, especially steak (beef) and rabbit. If you want to order mussels, garlic and cream is better than white wine.

Really delicious moules. Great sized portion too, and none with closed shells! The bread was perfect with the sauce too. You can tell that moules is their speciality. Service was great and friendly too. Good location as well as nice selection of beers (which is essential in Brussels)

(Translated by Google) Fairly good food, but nothing great. Unfortunately, the "frites" were a little dried out. A little expensive but not over the top. I asked for the classic "caraffe d'eau" just to cool off with a glass of water in addition to beer, but they told me that there was only bottled water for the modest sum of almost 6 euros for half a liter !!! It was written on the menu but I find it legalized that you have to pay more than 5 euros to get some water. Sweet, chocolate mousse, good. Normal service. Servizio normale.

(Translated by Google) The welcome is warm, but the staff are in the room for private conversations that no one needs to hear, which I find very amateurish. I tested the mussels and fries in white wine. Very disappointing. The fries were chewy and visibly frozen. My grandmother makes some of the best. The mussels were bland, admittedly drowned in white wine and butter, but without any flavor (and I grew up by the sea). My mom makes better casseroles of fresh mussels than at this restaurant. The music was very strange, a reggae compilation of covers of rock classics, not what one would expect in a traditional Belgian restaurant. To avoid. A éviter.

I and a group of friends were looking for a cafe bar yesterday around the area when we passed by this cafe bar. The song that was being played at the cafe when we were passing by happened to be the song that we like so we decided to have our drinks there. The decision factor to try the cafe was the song, but the decision factor to go back there next time would have to be their friendliest and accommodating staff by the name MILAN. Add up to that are the fast service, good location, tasty tapas, nice drinks and cool ambiance.
