Our first choice was to to go to Chez Leon, but the guy at the reception there almost fired us saying no places, not today not tomorrow... fully booked. "Aus Armes de Bruxelles" was just on the face, we entered, we were kindly received by the gentleman who apologized for not having a place for the evening, but when we asked on the possibility to reserve the evening after he was so professional to consult their booking system and found the required table . When arrived the next evening there was effectively a reservation carton with my name. The same gentleman guided us to a very comfortable and quite tabel. Every thing was excellent: The Champignion aux souces a l' ail vert a l' entree , les Mulles et frites, the tasty local wine. Excellent place for dinner with excellent service. We decided never to go to chez Leon inspite of its reputation, apparently non merited. If you want to have authentic place for Mulles et frites " Aux Armes de Bruxelles" is the excellent choice.

Nice cozy Michelin restaurant, good food and attentive and friendly staff. The set lunch is value for money. Personally find the cream brulee a little too sweet and couldn't finish it. Minus a star as serving time for main course was a little slow and we could hear quarreling/loud noises coming from the kitchen.

A classic and very classy brasserie in the old school Belgian style. The food and wine are very good, the service is IMPECCABLE, the waiters seem to read each other's minds and work as one. We had an unhurried dinner and wine that lasted for almost 3 hours, and we never felt rushed or pushed. I have never had "flat oysters" (they just came in season last week) and they were sublime. The Sole was lovely (the waiter filleted it for my wife himself) as was my Steak au Poivre. It was not cheap, but honestly it was worth the experience!

I have chosen this place from Michelin guide app and it definetely proved it is worth to be included in it. Excellent cuisine in every direction. One of the best mussels in Brussels (they have variously prepared mussels in the menu. we tried 3 different versions and all of them were delicous). Perfectly cooked meat and and fish dishes. Locally brewed beer Veulmant is unique and huge choice of wine including famous fine wines like as Sancere and Pomerol. Finally, the service exceeded all the expectations. Very friendly and professional staff. 8 of us ordered things alltogether and the manager remembered all dishes and how each of us wanted the the dishes to be cooked. P.S. Though the restaurant is in a Michellin guide, prices are affordable and the place is definetely must visit if you like fine cuisine.

Would rate this zero stars if possible. Terrible service. Over priced. We waited almost two hours for our food to come. When it finally did arrive, they got the order wrong and missed a dish. The food that came was over cooked, badly seasoned, and the worst food I’ve ever had. Do not come here. You will be disappointed. This was the most expensive dish on the menu and by far the worst.

Yes, this place is touristic, but it offers a great experience and food is good. Located in the heart of Brussels, in the area of Grand Place. It is big, old fashioned sit down dining with mostly elderly waiters in the uniform. Service is good and well mannered. The menu has cold and warm starters, variety of mains from fish and grilled meats. Mussels deserve own sections offering different styles. I had a famous shrimp croquettes and I loved it. Thin fried crisp and delicious shrimps in white melting sauce inside. I chose another signature dish as a main: Aux Armes de Bruxelles fish Waterzooi. Mashed potatoes as the side served in a cute small cast iron pot. This Flander's main is a stew made of three fillets of cod, sole and salmon fish and brown shrimps in a rich white sauce with crunchy vegetables of onion, celeriac and carrots. The quality and the taste of these traditional dishes is really good. Mastered over the years it delivers pure enjoyment despite the touristic appeal.

The service was Superb, waiter was super friendly and always there when needed. The food was good as well, frog, snails, fish and mussels were all good. The only reason why one star is missing is the heat in the restaurant. At the table where we were sitting there was an air conditioning which was not working, so we were sweating during the whole time. All in all a very nice experience though

Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are a meat eater as its menu is full of tasty traditional Belgian dishes, but i would avoid if you are a vegetarian. One member of group was vegetarian and found his dish, which consisted of just 7 mushrooms in a butter and garlic sauce, to be underwhelming and poor value for money. The rest of our group had meat based dishes which were tasty and filling. My breaded ham dish was delicious. Service was good.

It is an old school restaurant with an okay atmosphere. It was Sunday and very busy. We started with the escargot and foie gras, which was nice. It took a while before our mains arrived. I had the beef stew, and my husband had the veal kidneys. Both were flavourful.

A very underwhelming / borderline disappointing experience. We decided to give the restaurant as it looked so promising and it always looked busy when passing by (which is usually a good sign). Unfortunately we were let down on multiple fronts which I will detail below: Food 3/5 We ordered the following: - snails (6 pieces for 15 Euros, good, no complaints) - frog legs (excellent) - cheese croquettes (okay-ish, nothing great but quite overpriced at 16 euros for 2 pieces) - shrimp croquette (1 piece cost 11 euros and it was very fishy, as if it was made with frozen, low grade shrimps, wouldn't recommend it) - mussels in snail butter (very average, lacked salt and flavour overall) - the fries accompanying the mussels were hard, as if double or triple cooked, which can quickly turn hard when cooling down - rabbit in white sauce (at 28.50 Euros, the only rabbit dish on the menu and it was very bland, the white sauce tasted like double cream with almost no seasoning or salt) - veal tongue stew (24.50 Euros, excellent, probably our favourite dish) I attached photos with all the food and the receipt totalling €153.10 for your reference (for 2 people and no alcoholic drinks) Service 5/5 Pedro was very friendly and attentive with great customer service skills Ambiance 1/5 That night it was particularly hot in Brussels. The problem is that they don't have AC. We asked if they could turn it on and we were told that they don't actually have AC so, in all honesty, we were literally sweating the whole time. My clothes got stuck to the skin and the couch, drenched even before the food started arriving. Shortly after we started eating, all we wanted was to just get out of this sauna and get some fresh air outside. It's mind boggling how an expensive restaurant cannot bother with basic comfort for their clients. Unacceptable by any standards. Based on our experience here, I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice time or delicious food in Brussels.

We chose this restaurant from the Michelin guide. On the other hand, we were looking for a restaurant with a Michelin star, but it was a little late for a reservation. It was our last evening in Brussels, although I was quite hungry as I was pregnant. We wanted to go inside and try our luck and explained our situation. They arranged a table for us in this restaurant, where we were greeted in a very nice and hospitable manner. You can choose the dishes yourself or from the menus. We chose a salmon dish and goat cheese salad and a rmenu with dessert. It was like a sweet treat. We liked the food very much. Portions were very filling and even I couldn't finish it. Dessert was offered as a treat and they stated that they had other special desserts, and the treat was an ordinary dessert. We loved the goat cheese. The employees were very interested and in the meantime we drank wine with the meal. As for the prices, it cost around 50 euro per person with wine. It was a nice dinner. It is a stylish, high quality and hospitable place that can definitely be preferred for a dinner in Brussels.

This is my favorite place in Brussels for Mussels. I usually go the creamy or the spicy options. It never fails to deliver on taste and quality. This time we pressed the snails stuffed mushroom and I can comfortably say that it my new favorite starter at Aux Armes de Bruxelles. I would highly recommend this place. While it is advisable to make reservations, especially on weekends, they never turned me down whenever I show up without any reservations. They will always try to accommodate. Friendly staff and hosts.

Absolutely trash food I’ve never had something so disgusting in my life. Took two hours for the food to come and they forgot our side dish too. Rude and disgusting staff and my food was actually inedible. Not sure why everyone loves this place but I will never return.

My last meal in Brussels. What a lovely place. Great service, starched table linens, good food, generous portions, no fuss. Pricey but worth it. Was tired of fried potatoes so I had boiled ones 😄

My opinion is that if you want the real French-Belgium food w. French fussiness of service. This is the go to place. I went there for 1 thing only that is the steak tartare. It is excellent with the option of making it yourself or letting the kitchen do it. I opted for the latter as I was running short on time. The steak tartare was incredible, not minced like other places but finely chopped and with the right amounts of gherkins and peppers. It came with Belgium fries. The atmosphere, vibe and service was also perfect, I had a small insect in my water which was promptly apologised and replaced. Servings of food are big but reasonably priced.

Not one for me to be honest. The staff were alright, and the general ambience was nice. It was good to see the flambé inside the main dining area. The croquettes were nice, and had a good level of crunch and flavour. But besides that, everything else just felt like it missed the mark in terms of expectations. The vol au vent was very disappointing. The crepe didn't taste like anything I couldn't make at home. Could be the high expectations I had. But overall I felt let down.

Great food in an exquisite restaurant. If you are looking for a Brussels culinary experience, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The fire display was also interesting and the atmosphere is similar to the one on Titanic. Even if that ship sank this one will make it across with no problems.

The photo doesn't do it justice. The service super attentive, we loved our waiter. The house fish soup was high level but the waffle is not as good as Maison Dandoy. The piglet was amazing, succulent, so tasty, along with lovely soft crispy potato! The atmosphere is very lively with people from all over Europe coming in. Recommended!

Had to get some moules frites in Brussels and this was a great place for them. I ordered the Moules mariniere: mussels with shallots, parsley, butter, and white wine. There was much more white wine than I expected; here it was as if the water was replaced with white wine entirely. It felt like drinking cooked wine, and the aftertaste of white wine followed every bite. It was pretty appetizing though; anything with parsley butter and garlic is probably a recipe for success. The serving portion was huge and it also came with fries.

Fantastic place to stop for their set lunch menu which includes a first and second course and dessert. The staff were very friendly and while the service was a little slow it didn’t take away from our experience. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to try lots of classic Belgian dishes at a modest price. The area is right next to Delirium (so very touristy!) but this is more of an authentic feel!

I rad a rack of lamb with vegetables and gratin sliced potatoes and the plate was terrific! The waiter was very attentive and he guaranteed that the experience was just great! If there is a point that it would mention to the restaurant that they could improve is the air conditioning system. The day was really hot and inside could be a little more colder.

This is one of the best dinner experiences in the Brussels area near the Grand-Place. It is easy to see how Aux Armes de Bruxelles received a Michelin Star rating. I tried the pre-set menu and found it to be very filling and affordable. The service hustles but you don't feel rushed. The environment is a little tight but appropriate for Europe. Overall the best meal of our visit and I would highly recommend!

One of my favorites in Brussels. I can't say the place hasn't changed over time but it definitely kept a certain authenticity. Food quality is great and service has a bit of that outdated flavour, just to make you feel special and have a great moment! For the anecdote, Jacques Brel still has a dedicated table in the restaurant. Please keep it going. You'll see again, for sure! I strongly recommend.

The atmosphere really lures person, however, the experience majorly depends on who serves you. Unfortunately, neither food, nor service was near to close to design of the restaurant. Price is relatively same, little higher than other restaurants with so much better food.

Yes it’s packed so make a reservation beforehand, yes the service is firm, not rude. Our waiter was exceptionally friendly and attentive to us. We had a huge group of 14 and they managed to take very good care of us. Mussels, risotto, carbonnade were amazing.

Service was superb, very attentive and friendly. Food was average above overall, wouldn’t say all the dishes was the best I’ve ever had in Brussels but definitely the service and whole dining experience made up for it. Weekday lunch menu was also a deal! Highly recommend the mussels, and the fries was the best I’ve ever had.

  • 1/5 Elena A. 2 years ago on Google
Overrated! The bread was not fresh, the service poor, the food below average in taste and quality. The only nice thing is the restaurant itself that takes you back in time. And of course very expensive!! Unfortunately, we did not make the right choice.

  • 2/5 Maciej . 10 months ago on Google
Quite disappointed to be honest. I booked a table reading all comments and after checking menu online. I was excited about my dinner until I got food… it was just average. I ordered asparagus which tasted like from average restaurant. Nothing impressive. For the main course, I ordered a rabbit. It again tasted average. The sauce was like a brown water, without any taste of pepper or salt. The portion was complemented by small and fried croquettes. They were quite hard. The staff was ok. A little bit hectic. We were waiting for someone to pour and open a wine for a long time and we did it ourselves. After that they were checking on us every 5 min. To conclude, big disappointment.

I have enjoyed mussels and the soup of the day. Atmosphere is quiet, luxurious and quirky. If you are in Brussels for 1-2 nights - this is definitely a good place to stop by for dinner.

Very good food, excellent wines - so traditional that the waiter needed some convincing when I ordered a somewhat more special red bordeaux to accompany seafood dishes. Not cheap compared to other Belgian venues but regarding the quality of food and wines hardly expensive in international comparison. Well visited, so do book a table in advance!

Truly authentic Belgian restaurant, well deserving of its Michelin status. Impeccable service, food flavours staying true to Belgian cuisine while reinforcing the core flavours. Mussels, seafood, lamb, tartare, all well prepared. God wine selection, very professional service. Waterzooi is a must try.

Definitely one of our go to place in Brussels. We have been always well welcomed, the staff is very friendly and professional. The place is warm and cheerful. And the food is tasteful. We can only recommend it. Bon appétit !

A great experience! Exactly what I was expecting from the pleasant servers, to the delicious food and great ambiance.

  • 4/5 Philippe G. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent service. The staff was very respectful, asked how long I wished to wait before the next dish, and overall were very well trained. This suggests that the new management is doing something right, as I remember coming to this place years ago under previous management and it wasn't very good. Although the street as a whole is a bit of a tourist trap, this specific restaurant is now pulling itself together to deliver Belgian classics. It can get packed, so a reservation is useful.

My experience at this restaurant was disastrous. I found a slug in my salad, which led me to send my dish back to the kitchen! Additionally, my partner's appetite was completely ruined, and despite not touching his dish after that, we were compelled to pay the entire bill, including his dish and our drinks, while mine went back to the kitchen. Fortunately, they didn't charge me for that; that would be the last straw ! This restaurant urgently needs to reassess its customer service and food quality control. This is simply unacceptable.
