A great place to start off any journey in Belgium! The service was fast and staff were very polite, if you want to try original Belgian beer this is a top spot, not only is it enjoyable but it’s also very cheap, I would highly recommend trying this place out!

Great beers, great atmosphere superb staff! The beers and bites were really affordable. We had cheese and salami for 6,50 and 2 delicious fresh made soups with bread and butter for only 6,- each.

An authentic place just opposite the Manneken Pis statue. The music coming from the conservatory gives a different ambiance while sipping your beer. Belgian beers are of course great. The service is fast and the staff is friendly. It would be good if you come knowing that you will wait in line.

Pub-style eatery, moderate foot traffic with 80% of the restaurant occupied, constant demand with family. I noticed the majority were ordering pasta and the rest were drinking with snacks. *No English menu, staff can speak minimal English. I ordered a Sausage and cheese platter, and lasagna for lunch. Overall the food was good, lasagna was baked to order in a clay pot/bowl, it was tasty and worth the wait. This place is known for the beers and snacks, they have minimal hot food selections.

Visit: 26 & 27 August 2022 This is a marvelous destination. You'd be forgiven for thinking it is going to be a 'tourist trap' from its location, and you'd be correct. It is a trap because the selection of beers and food is first class, and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff exceeds that. We too visited twice once on a cloudy afternoon inside, admiring the puppets and carvings, then again the next evening, sitting outside in the warm evening, getting the history of the venue. On both visits it was busy but service was fairly prompt, like a well oiled machine. Do visit; if you like beer, good service, and a warm welcome, you'll probably love it.

An amazing unique spot with excellent service in the heart of old Brussels… to unwind, have a great beer and chill! Some incredibly unique decor will have your neck cocked and looking everywhere! They have an extensive drink menu and a variety of foods available as well! It’s a great place to enjoy some great beer, either indoors with their unique decor or outside on their large patio!

Great beer selection and friendly staff who were keen to make suggestions if you were unsure of your choice

Very slow service, seemed less friendly to English speakers. Salads were good, lasagne very rich and bread with cheese was interesting but would have liked server to explain more how to eat it, wasn't sure what to do with the whole spring onion...

The second I stepped into this restaurant to see if there were any tables available, was the second I realized that I would wait hours to be seated! You guys, this place was absolutely amazing! I think this restaurant should be one of many official tourist attractions of Brussels. The food was delicious, service was fast and attentive despite of how packed they were. And of course, the decor was was something I’ve never see before. If I go back to Brussels Poechenellekelder will be the place I visit again!

This place is wonderful, like a puppet museum inside. The exterior has the colorful bikes attached to the walls of the building. Extraordinary collection of bottled beer, but very few on draft. The outside seating area is close to the Manikin Piss so always a changing sea of people. The guys who serve the garden are professional with a great knowledge of what they have.

The place is beautiful with a very strong identity that make you loose the track of the time. Nice Belgian Beer selection and good food. Only issue was the waiter who wasn't very friendly. I guess it's hard some day as the place is very touristic but passive/agressive comments is not what you look for when going out for a drink with friends

We stayed in Belgium 3nights and we went to this place 3 times! Absolutely love this little gem! High quality beer & non alcohols selections! I also had hot chocolate and almost ordered second one! Staffs are super lovely with good knowledge and pride of Belgium beers. Every time we went, we asked for a recommendation and absolutely loved every single thing they have recommended. Inside the place is very funky. Lots of things to look around. We also had hot foods, super yummy too!

This place has a super cool atmosphere. So many different types of beer that you can try. Also the location is good, just next to the Manneken Pis. If he weather is good you can sit outside. The only thing is some waiters are unsympathetic and you are feel welcomed because of them. Unfortunately this happened several times by different people, so this is the reason why we don't go here often in the city.

Very extensive menu of Belgian beers- big well known names as well as special and off the beaten path. Enjoyed my choice (V sense) and will be back for a drink or two next time I’m in Brussels!

Great bar/cafe, a must visit. Close to the central square but in a quiet cobbled street with outside seating space. Loads of beers to choose from and staff very helpful even if you have to order in English. Interior stacked with memorabilia, which adds to atmosphere. Beers served in the brewers glasses/mugs, which was a nice touch. I chose a Trappist Chimay Bleue beer and the Hercule Stout both were excellent. I also had the Spaghetti Bolognese not typically Belgian fare (although there is plenty of choice on the menu), but it soaked up the strong beer, and was a large tasty, well-cooked portion. Highly recommended and I will return next time I’m in Brussels.

You can find a wide variety of Belgian beers near Manneken. The staff is friendly and the cafe has a very Belgian decor.

Great location, right next to Maneken Pis, and great choice of Belgian beers. We also ordered salami&cheese plate, and, to our surprise, it was a great match with our beers (normally, we don't eat cheese - dipped in mustard of all things - with beer), but now we might start to.

An absolute heaven for a beer enthusiast, quite affordable as well. The waiters are top of their class, they are friendly, know how to help you make a choice & serve the beer in a proper way. If you're in Brussels, go there!

This bar is opposite the popular mannekin pis. The street is really busy all the time. You have to visit this bar for the quirkiness. We had a beer and cheese and sausage board.

I'm not sure we've ever eaten at the Poechenellekelder but I've given it 5 stars anyway because I'm sure the food would be great. The beer is anyway, and it's a long list. The service is always good and the place has a charm that is hard to match. Unless you're frightened by creepy puppets, in which case you should probably go elsewhere.

Really nice place. Great location and ambience. A variety of beers and good selections of appetisers (nice portio). Expect a queue, but it moves fast. Fast and friendly service! Visited twice!

If you like meat, cheese or beer, this is a great spot. Food was tasty and served fast. Prices were very reasonable and it didn’t feel like an overpriced spot for only tourists - which there are plenty of in Brussels. We got two charcuterie plates - 1 meat and 1 cheese and both were better quality and more filling than expected. I ordered a beer and the waitress, knowing we were tourists, recommended a different option that was actually cheaper for the same volume and which she said tasted better. It didn’t disappoint! The atmosphere is a bit kitschy but in the best way, and the restaurant was very clean. Our server was very attentive and kind, and she spoke good English. It was a friendly environment for families, couples, business people, anyone really. We struck up a conversation with two nearby business execs from Georgia (country) and ended up sharing a drink together. The restaurant just has that kind of welcoming vibe where it feels like even strangers can be friends. It is on a charming, small street and all the outdoor tables were unsurprisingly full as it was a beautiful summer evening. Even though we had to sit inside, we were placed by a window and had an opportunity to hear and experience local street musicians playing music for a crowd. Overall just a nice experience, fun interior, good hearty food after a day of travel, and the perfect way to start a trip in Brussels.

Such a special place ! You have to go for the beer (lots of references) but also for the decoration ! It s amazing and so different from what ever else ! You spend so much time to analyse all the dolls and posters and statues … the staff is friendly and helpful if you don’t know what beer your want !

Poechenellekelder is on of our favourite places to visit in the whole of Belgium. Just around the corner of the Grand-Place and Manneken Pis. They have an amazing selection of beers and very good cheese on the menu. I’ll 100% recommend to anyone going to Brussels.

  • 5/5 Loredana R. 10 months ago on Google
Charming typical local of the city full of objects that tell and show the history of Belgium and Brussels in particular. Located less than 20 steps from Manneken Pis. It is always full, the times I have gone there have been without a reservation and the wait has been short - less than 20 minutes - and the service is quite fast. The beer menu is extensive and is separated by characteristics of each one of them, it also indicates the degree of alcohol of all of them separately. The staff help you and advise you if you need it It is an ideal place to sit down to have a snack and watch the people go by or even eat. The facade draws the attention of everyone who passes by, even those who do not want to see it have to stop and take a photo. The interior is a spectacle, although if you are terrified of puppets you may prefer to stay outside. The prices are correct, the cheese and salami board was good, the cheese above all. I didn't like the salami that much.

It is actually nice place and full of good local Belgium beers, but the staff seems like quite discriminative. We ordered couple of beers, and we were the only table didn't receive the crackers. We asked for it sfter a while, they've said They're out of it, but then they kept bringing to the other tables.

This place is so interesting. Lots of puppets & statues to be afraid of. I tried the lasagna which was different but tasty! They have too many beers to choose from but luckily the server knew just what I wanted. Def worth a visit.

Well…I never expect much from restaurants in Brussels. This met the expectations. It’s got an interesting interior though. I think it could be a truly unique place, but suffers from a lousy food selection…

Great collection of beers. Must go to if you are looking at one stop for belgian beers. Wonder how they manage different glasses for every different beer. The service is amazing and cheerful.

  • 5/5 Fábio Iglesias C. 2 years ago on Google
Most charming pub I found in Brussels. Great beer selection, cozy atmosphere despite maximalist decor. And the waiter still wouldn't let me order any salami, he said that if I was interested in meat I should order a more interesting selection of Spanish sausages, a suggestion that I happily accepted, ordering wild boar. Moeder Lambic was... disappointing due to the uninteresting beer menu and the few snacks available. Which also leads me to compare the Delirium Tremens in Brussels with the one in Rio, the latter having more options on the tap (!) and snacks signed by none other than our brilliant Kátia Barbosa. So, the really good thing in Brussels is Poechenellekelder!

  • 5/5 Dan L. 1 year ago on Google
This place requires a Google reviews update to accommodate the 6th star it most assuredly deserves. All lasagna has now been ruined for the entirety of the rest of my life. The words have as of yet not been invented to describe what my taste buds have just experienced. I haven't even mentioned the decor and amazingly accomodating staff. If there is only one place in all of Belgium that you must eat and drink, this is undoubtedly the one!

  • 5/5 rkd 1 year ago on Google
Excellent bar with great service. Very interesting interior and design with a lot of weird things and trinkets on the walls and ceilings. Overall the experience was very pleasant with great beer selection and excellent small bites to go with beer. Would definitely go back there.

Awesome spot with a great location. Solid menu of beers plus some delicious food. Portion size was pretty good so plan accordingly. Outdoor and indoor seating. If there's a good wind I would definitely reccomend sitting inside. Absolutely reccomend!

  • 5/5 Michał S. 1 year ago on Google
The choice of beer is great, of course not so great as in Delirium Cafe but I think that the latter one is overrated. In Poechenellekelder we can get great advise for the beer and selections of snacks, especially cheeses are also nice. Dolls and the whole interior are even most interesting than beers themselves!

  • 5/5 Andrej M. 2 years ago on Google
Iconic place to enjoy beer and snacks in the city center of Brussels. Beer drinking is a ritual here and each glass is pored and served to perfection.

Former puppet theater turned into a bar, such an atmospheric and cool place! Very central, but not your tourist trap and popular with the locals. Really worth a visit! Good service and beer

Great place for great beer! Friendly staff, fast service and fast to be seated (despite small line). We returned the next day, since it was the place we most enjoyed from Brussels. Right across the Manneken Pis.

I genuinely don't think that I can express just how much I love this place, it is absolutely incredible. Myself and my partner came here twice, two weeks ago, during our two night stay in Brussels and I wish we came here so many more times! The atmosphere is unbelievable, the decor is fantastic, so homely, welcoming, cosy, the list goes on.. The food is fantastic, we had only drinks on our first visit but we got a board with bread, brie and smoked sausage on our second visit and it was simply amazing ❤️ so flavourful! However, probably the best thing about our visits to this restaurant is the waiter we had, he was unbelievable, unfortunately we didn't get his name but he wears the cap and balances the trays on his head occasionally 😂 he was so attentive, so kind and understanding, I tried my best with the limited French I have but he understood. He really made each trip there quite the experience in the best possible way and I would so highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking to check it out.
