Is one of the most important museums in Northern Ethiopia. It hosted one of the biggest royal throne in Africa. It is placed on the second floor. The museum also used to keep important church 18th and 19th century paintings church recovered from Europe. To the disappointment of tourists, the collection is not at the museum any more. These important collections are at the Tigray Regional State bureau of Culture and tourism.

Seems like management/ owner is not around to to the issues in the land since Fall’ 20. Owner better put his/her foot down before the place goes downhill further. This used to be a clean , decent place to rest your head. Rooms are still ok clean but hallways, elevator, restaurant, lobby are a joke. Sweep the floors wipe the dust at least

a very historical place in the northern side of the country. Atse Yohannes 4th was a great king and most of all very orthodox Christian. His palace is kept in a good care and the historical treasures are in a good condition.

Incredible place found in Mekele, the castle and palace of Atse Yohannes IV, king of Ethiopia. Now museum, it is a spectacular historical heritage that should be visited. Spending some time in the museum enriches one with brief history of the area. And last but not least, the great and extraordinary architecture adding to the royal throne the place is hosting is amazing

This historic place was a palace before of Atse Yohannes IV, King of Kings, King of Zion, before it was turned into a museum. It dipicts medival age collection of the King's era. With a beautiful greenery compound, the museum has all the materials, households, armaments, etc the king use to use. It contains two separate buildings of two storey each. The first one was the official palace and the second one was a residence. There are precious collections that deserve more attenion and visit.
