The parking at this hospital is appalling. Driving around for ages trying to find a space. Seems to be lots of parking for the staff but no where near enough parking for visitors/patients. Also got charged £2 for just driving into one of the carparks and then driving straight out again. Warning to people going, make sure you get to the hospital with plenty of time before your appointment.

Avoid like a plague if you're looking for a job. This organisation is so backward it shouldn't be part of the NHS. 1. Even with the pandemic this organisation refused to conduct remote interview. They ultimately accepted when they couldn't fill the position in the first advert. 2. Got interviewed on a Friday and was told to expect feedback early the following week. Nothing. Contacted the hiring manager (Monckton Colin) no response. I allowed week and finally got a response (2 weeks) wait. 3. The response, Andrea Race was going to update through Trac but for whatever reason she didn't. This is despite being told to expect a call and Andrea actually confirmed my phone number during the interview. Having previously exchanged text she had the number anyways. For both request for remote interview in first and second instance HR was contacted but did nothing. So clearly the HR department is also unhelpful. Although I might have ultimately declined the job due to outrageous expectation to travel from Leeds to Nottingham twice a week for purpose of micromanaging, I will not recommend or myself apply for a job in this organisation. Organisations like this are part of the problem NHS has for recruitment and retention. Absolutely shocking.

Staff mostly friendly and caring however my partner was discharged after giving birth whilst anaemic but told us everything was fine! Caused issues following discharge and only 12 days later after having more tests done have we been told she is anaemic! Can empathise that working in maternity must be particularly difficult however this mistake has caused my partner extra misery following what was already a traumatic labour, really need to improve after labour care if our experience is anything to go on!

Everytime when I think back to the first night after my wife gave birth I feel extremely angry at this hospital and their complete incompetence and lack of care. I was told I could not stay to look after her and that I should rest assured they would look after her, which they did not. My wife was left by herself to look after our baby hours after having a major operation (c section). Even though she could not even move due to the pain, the staff simply left her to it and expected her to feed the baby by herself (zero logic), and then when she pressed the buzzer for help they could take over an hour to come leaving my wife in pain and our newborn screaming the whole time. Even when she asked for something as simple as an extra blanket for our newborn baby as he was cold it took them 6 HOURS to provide one. The NHS is clearly broken and this hospital is the worst example of this based on our experience. My wife pays £2500 in tax and national insurance every month into the UK system, and this service is not even close to being acceptable. My wife is from another country and we honestly cannot believe how poor the level of care was in the UK in comparison to her home country for giving birth. We genuinely regret giving birth in this hospital so much. I'm not entirely sure how the hospital can get away with such negligence in care.

I cannot begin to thank all the staff and Doctors at Nottingham City hospital. They are a dedicated, committed and wonderful bunch of people, who are both humble and kind. I just want them to know that not only did they help save my life, they renewed my faith in the community they serve. I wish all of them much love and a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I took my daughter for a scan at the maternity department. All car parks were full. The parking warden was amazing. He was American and could see my daughter was nervous. He put us in staff parking. Such a great person I believe his name was Steven. Absolutely saved my life.

Worst hospital ever! Expect you to ring for an appointment to see a patient and after driving all the way to Nottingham from another city being refused because the patient has been moved without any of the staff keeping family informed of the patients condition and lying about things! Avoid at all costs!!!!

What a rubbish service, received an appointment letter that had taken 6 weeks to reach us, for an appointment that was already past. Then discharged for not attending appointment. Cannot get anyone in the department to answer phone, what a shambles. I agree with CQC grade Needs improvement, Lots of Improvement.

Though we knew the way to the hospital the actual directions for department were vague so once we were there we rang again and were personally greeted by a member of staff and because my Mum was already so stressed given free parking!!!. Amazing staff and that made my mum's cancer treatment all the more bearable. Superb

Had PET scan today could not ask for better service. All the staff were very good and caring. All done on time & explained at every stage. We used park and ride no searching for a space & bus stop at every department (free with oap pass).

Went for an X-ray on my injured shoulder everyone who dealt with me was polite and caring. Merci (not sure of the spelling) the radiologist was an absolute star, so caring and kind. No one likes going to hospital but this visit was stress free thanks to the caring attitude of everyone we came into contact with. Thankyou to all concerned 👍❤️

This is a review of the parking only. The parking facilities for staff are so good and they have hundreds of spaces, yet for visitors… there’s never any spaces, forcing people into parking in restricted areas and then getting a ticket? Doesn’t seem right to me. Money making technique at its finest

My husband had an operation on Friday Could not fault the staff all of them absolutely brilliant, so helpful and caring. When visited for the pre op all staff so helpful when we looking lost in the corridors. It may be an old building but it feels relaxed and every member of staff we came across were so helpful. Thanks again for looking after him so well. A member of staff even took my husband right to our car in a wheelchair following his operation. Very good experience of an nhs hospital despite the cuts being made all the time within this service

Couldn’t fault the doctors and nurses I had. But the parking is horrendous! I had to abandon my car somewhere in hope of not getting a ticket otherwise I’d miss my appointment (I had arrived 20 minutes early and spent it circling the site) wouldn’t want to come to this hospital again due to this, definitely needs sorting out somehow.

Completely unfit for purpose. No parking anywhere! Spent 1.5 hours looking for a space and then missed my appointment. If you needed life saving treatment at this hospital and you drove there you would be dead. I now have to make the hellish journey from the other side of Nottingham again tomorrow on 3 buses!

Had a procedure at the day centre. I was treated like a private patient akin to my one time visit to the park hospital. The staff, the recovery nurse, everyone was above and beyond amazing. Never been treated like this before in an NHS facility. I hope they know how they made a patient feel. Thanks to all

In July my husband passed away at City Hospital. Prior to that, his care during his illness was exemplary. Fair to say that his consultant gave him an extra year with us. During his final days on Gervis Pearson ward, the doctors and nurses were so kind, compassionate, efficient and professional. They gave my husband dignity and a level of care which was faultless and in doing so gave my daughter and me the most peace of mind possible in the circumstances. I haven't the words to thank them enough. I remain in absolute awe. Thank you.

Horrible place, no parking, I can't get a blue badge, but I need a walking stick, had an appointment for surgery, asked the parking warden if it was fine if I parked in the blue badge area, and he told me I would get fined. End result, car parks full, had to park behind the hospital and hobble with my walking stick for half a mile after driving 140 miles Awesome experience Lots of staff car parking space, but screw the patients

My son has was referred to the Spinal Surgery team nearly 2 years ago. In that time we have had 5 appointments of which 3 were cancelled. Have had to chase every follow-up test, and despite repeated messages to the consultant’s secretary, I have never had a call back. We are still none the wiser on whether surgery is going to be offered or not. Have raised a complaint which was treated as a concern, and after 2 months still had no response from the spinal surgery team. Appalling and deeply concerning as health continues to decline waiting…

The Harvey 2 ward was awful, there were only 2 members of staff worth noting to be good, Jackie (a healthcare assistant) and james (a nurse. Everyone else had terrible bedside manner, the doctors repeatedly got my medication wrong and withheld due meds for hours, the anesthetic doctor was awful as she failed 3 times at canulating me during surgery, popped one vein after i told her the veins in that site were poor (she didnt listen to me) and she tissued a canular and proceeded to inject fentanyl and other medicines into the tissue of my hand leaving me with painful tissue damage that nobody admitted to after surgery. The surgeon I had was good (mr rasheed) but all the nurses I had (especially at night) had no care, terrible bedside manner, they were rude and they were supposed to be monitoring me overnight but didnt do my obs until 5 hours after handover. They also forgot to give me my medication on the day of discharge and failed to tell me they hadnt given it me and didnt remind me to take it when at home. I had an upsetting experience with a nightnurse who came in coughing with no PPE despite me being autoimmune and post surgery, she refused to help me out of bed to use the commode and when I asked for help from a nurse who wasnt going to make me catch her cough she wad extremely rude and intimidating, this was the night following my surgery, she wouldnt even back down from her approach after i was in tears, i thank god for jackie for calming me down as I really had had enough. Other than the surgeon doing a good job, im left traumatised by this.

The Leicester Royal Infirmary have managed to build a multi storey carpark in its grounds. The Nottingham City Hospital could? Do the same. Thankfully I come by public transport. Although my brother has a car and drove round twice! As did other visitors. He gave up in the end. Also Be careful of the £2.20 meal deal, it cost me £5.25 for a coke, packet of crisps and a sandwich. For that price I could have had a warm meal. !?

Abysmal parking experience - consequently had to drop my elderly mother off outside outpatients for her to go to her appointment alone while I then spent over 30 minutes trying to find a space. And why in 2023 do the parking machines only accept coins and exact change, ludicrous!

Absolutely blown away by the entire wonderful, professional, caring team on the Sanctuary Labour Suite this weekend. In particular, Mel, my sisters midwife! Truly, I couldn't have picked a better person to help bring my nephew into the world. From start to finish she made my sister feel safe and calm even when things weren't going 100% smoothly and I always felt that I could talk to her about anything and ask questions, nothing was too much trouble. I can't thank you enough Mel ❤️

Booked in for hip steriod injections back in 2020, then the pandemic hit. I waited patiently for someone to get in touch with an appointment date, but nothing came. 3 years and 3 months passed I finally get a phone call asking me if I still wanted treatment! Apparently they had only just found my file, it seems it had gone missing. I managed to get a face to face appointment which initally was okay, I recieved a verbal apology and the issue was to be investigated internally and I was to be placed on a waiting list for a new hip. The orginal treatment was scrapped as it would no longer be of any benefit as too much time had passed. Upon leaving the room, the consultant I had just seen bumped into the consultant who I was orginally meant to have seen on the appointment letter. I got asked to wait for a few minutes, the door shuts and the two of them discuss my case. I then get asked in by the other consultant. He then goes on to say that they now think they can't do anything for me! One says yes to helping me the other says no! The place is a complete shambles, poor internal comunication and less than interested consultants. I've been a patient since birth, having had many operations. But dealing with the City hospital has been hands down the worst experience of my life.

I was 1 of a group of agency people who started there on cleaning duties in Dec, we were given 2 days training to do a job that requires about 3 weeks training; this week I was assigned to a covid ward, I was not given adequate training to carry out a covid clean, then this morning I w as contacted by the agency to say I could no longer work there as I didn't fully understand the importance of avoiding infection!!!! After 2 days training! The word incompetence springs to mind. Then'of course there was the inevitable army of annoying foreigners who know the job backwards and don't let you 4get it which causes hostility, then people wonder why there's racism in the world!!

Parking is absolutely impossible. Had to leave my dad with dementia to find his own way to his appointment as after 1 hour of looking for a space he would've missed his appointment. SHOCKING. So annoying that a simple admin task of allocated parking could solve. There is no way all the visitor cars are appointments! Sort it out NHS. 😡 Let's hope I find my dad when he finds his way out!!!

I have only praise for the NHS in Nottinghamshire , paricularly Nottingham City Hospital and Kings Mill Hospital, for the care and after-care treatment I have received after my severe heart-attack on December 29th. I completed the series of exercise sessions offered by the Cardiac Rehab dept. The staff have been very attentive and encouraging and I have felt really cared-for and reassured. Thank you.

Just had the pleasure of being looked after in Hogarth Ward. The team from the cleaning staff to the Consultants can’t do enough for you and the nursing staff are fantastic. Everywhere is spotless and it has the most amazing family room with an awesome huge outdoor area. Every single member of the team including catering team, cleaners, nurses and Doctors need a massive pat on the back for making this a warm and homely environment which, for cancer patients, makes a big difference. Well done guys. I dread staying in a different ward in the future as it couldn’t possibly live up to your extremely high standard of care. Cleanliness, warm and sensitivity

Absolutely disgusting, sent my newborn baby away will yellow jaundice and now he’s in hospital. Staff are rude, inconsiderate, if ur under the age of 18 they talk down to you and try control and intimidate you, was left 6 hours after Labour in a puddle of blood, before they decided they were coming to move me, didn’t let me shower, kept telling me they’ll send me home but never did took them hours, did my bloods and got blood all over my clothes, told me I could use any pain relief but then took it off me, didn’t respect my rights, felt so uncomfortable being there couldn’t wait to get home. Deffo will NOT be going there again.

Visited Outpatients today to have blood tests and a chest x-ray. Got parked straight away in an unauthorised spot, but the parking chap was so helpful and friendly. Went to Phlebotomy and only 3 people were ahead of me. Seen quickly and the team were super friendly and efficient. I was very early for my xray, so popped to the little shop and got a yummy coronation no chicken sandwich (vegan) and it was very tasty! The lady serving was really friendly and pleasant. Headed to xray dept and the receptionists got me seen straight away (35 minutes early). All of the xray dept team were lovely. 5* service today, very happy 😊

My names Joshua peatfield and I attended multiple clinics at Nottingham city hospitals over the last 10 months. I thought it only fair to give credit where it’s due. After a road traffic accident resulting in multiple injuries that will affect me for many years to come I was air lifted to Nottingham university hospitals (city hospital) and had a lengthy stay on one of their fantastic wards. I’ve had different surgeries for different injuries over the last 10 months but needed to just put it out there that the care I’ve received has been second to none. Mrs Myint from elective care/trauma clinic has done everything beyond reproach, from the very first time of meeting her till the after care received post-op can’t be compared to anything other than 1st class. Everything was discussed in great detail to give me the best chance to choose the correct surgery to get me back to good health, the surgery itself went smooth even with all the complications I had going on. My quality of life has steadily improved from having despair about how life would function moving forward to having a positive outlook on how I will be able to live my life to a good standard, none of which would be possible without Mrs Myint’s time commitment and care. I can never find the words to thank her enough for what she has done for me. To save me writing again the same goes for Mr O’Boyle (plastic surgery) for his attentiveness to detail and giving me my confidence back. All staff at the hospital deserve credit but it would be impossible to name them all personally so I’m grateful to be able give my review here and hopefully give any possible patient peace of mind that they are in fantastic care. Again, thanks to all who dedicate themselves and have helped me get to where I am now.

Previously in 2019 I gave birth here and it was outstanding. Given this... in 2022 I decided this is again where I'd want to give birth, if only I'd known how much it has changed! The care I recieved was so poor it was barely there. Midwives on triage were amazing but the midwives on the ward and in labour were horrendous! I was left waiting to be induced for four days. I was continously told that I was going to be started off and yet i wasn't! The day before I was actually started I begged someone to let me know what was happening... I was moved beds that morning around 8am because there was someone coming up that they wanted to out in my place, and I was put in an empty bay with nothing. That day I saw not one person, no one took my observations, no one checked on the wellbeing of my baby. No one brought me water or food. No one even popped in to say hello. It was nearly 7.30pm that I saw someone and finally I was taken to labour suit. I was appalled at how they left a pregnant women with not even water. I'd never been treated so poorly in my life! Thank god my labouring days are over, but I wouldn't wish the treatment I recieved on any women. Would never have chose here to give birth if I knew, can't believe how down hill this place went in such little time.

Great hospital with very friendly and helpful staff. Maternity wards are very clean, secured, run by highly professional staff with extra due care and diligence for their patients and new born babies. Highly recommended level 3 hospital, that should be taken as an example to other hospitals nationwide.

Having always had first class care and treatment for myself and family members , I was unprepared for my husbands stay on Gervis Pearson ward. The lack of communication between Staff , and with patients and relative , The lack of nursing care , And one nurse ,( who would not give me her name ) sheer arrogance and rudeness in front of her patient . A big thank you to Physio Pete , OT Emma , and especially Nurse Charlotte , who deserves a medal . Without you we would not have got him home .

3 appointments in row they’ve cancelled now for my mum, which wouldn’t be so bad if she wasn’t in constant pain and needing stronger and stronger painkillers as she’s waiting for injections. It’s not on. The last one cancelled due to the strike action and now won’t take place until the second week of June, it’s beyond a joke. How much have us in the private sector had in terms of pay increases? 0 - 2%, yet they want nearly 20%, they need to get in the real world and doing their jobs. They’re paid to treat patients yet the patients that need treatment can’t get it. My dad also been waiting months for a gallbladder removal and had to keep going back to the hospital in agony and missing weeks worth of pay at a time. He funded it for over 50 year and now when he needs something he can’t get anything. It’s utterly scandalous.

A big thank you to all the people who helped with my admittance, surgery and recovery including nurses, admin, kitchen staff, cleaners, therapists and Doctors. Very caring and professional team. A special thank you to the young male nurse who helped me through a difficult night.

This is a belated review. I am a Chinese. My baby weighing 670 grams at 24+3 weeks was born here on September 7, 2022. I would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the NICU who gave my baby life (especially Teacher Dong Hong we have A common language, I still remember her giving me warmth when I was most vulnerable and teaching me how to take care of myself and my baby) Now my baby is very healthy. Although more than a year has passed, I still remember what an excellent team the doctors and nurses in the NICU . I would like to thank them in advance.

I was admitted here as a cancer patient in 2018. I was on the ward they put you on after appearing at a&e, so ambulatory care or acute medical unit? I’m not sure which one it was, but it was a quite a dirty ward..there were multiple cardboard wee containers left around with bloody wee in them, dirty toilets, blood on the floor in bathroom. But on the other hand the staff were lovely, cheered me up, even the catering staff were lovely people, they made the hospital pleasant. Maybe bring your own anti bac wipes if you’re immunocompromised like I was
