The rooms at the Blue Jay are clean, comfortable and decent value for money. I’d happily stay there again… The food in the restaurant is reasonably priced but I have found that quality varies - for example the amount of bbq sauce included with a burger was strangely smalj and the Hunters Chicken was a little dry… In contrast the staff have always been friendly and efficient - especially Andy and Adam who looked after us very well on a recent 2 night stay.

Great pub in an ideal location between Nottingham and Derby. Great choice of food and friendly staff. On-site accommodation, which we stayed in for two nights. Nice comfortable modern room tastefully decorated. Hotel reception is in the pub and has plenty of parking. Part of the Marstons chain.

I booked a table for 4 online which was very easy to do and I received confirmation straight away and polite reminders with the option and information how to cancel of I wanted to. We had three main meals and were able to use a 30% discount code sent via email mail, and the fourth person had the Carvery which was really nice and the Yorkshire pudding needed a plate of its own. I loved that we could order from our table online by scanning or pay at the bar which we chose yp do. Dietary needs were catered for and all our meals were delicious. I haven't been in over a year but won't leave it so long to.visit again. Staff were polite, professional and very helpful. Wheelchair access was also available as I noticed someone sitting with their carer which was lovely to.see.

A quiet environment perfect for enjoying some lovely pub food. I don't often finish my meals out but I was able to eat the lot! Very much recommend!

Had carvery. Turkey and beef on offer. Beef very nice but Turkey very poor as dry and chewy end portion served . Vegetable selection good but only lukewarm. Gravy piping hot and tasty which helped warmed meal up. Visited as carvery opened so food must have been put out some while. Wouldn't rush back.

We stayed the night at the hotel opposite so The Blue Jay was perfect for dinner. There's a large car park so no problem parking. We received a warm welcome as soon as we entered. We checked in at the hotel reception that's inside the pub and then sat at a table. The menu is exactly what you want so plenty of choice and all reasonably priced. I went for scampi and chips which was tasty and my husband chose the mixed grill which was delicious too. We also enjoyed breakfast the following morning which was great. There's a continental option or full cooked options plus pancakes, etc. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Family occasion party of 7 taken immediate on entry to our table by attentive staff. Only downside table had residue from previous occupation and we had to find staff to clean it, this was done fairly promptly. Efficient and friendly service from all staff from ordering to service of food and drink. When we left a friendly goodbye was appreciated

Visited here on Sunday at around 6pm, was looking forward to a nice carvery, as it always used to be good quality. Was a little disappointed in the end, decent size portion but most of the food from the carvery was cold and a bit mushy. Appreciate with a carvery, at quiet times it can be hard to keep everything perfect, but this was below average for the area. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Agree with the sticky table comment others have made, not what you expect to see in a good eating establishment. Maybe we just caught it at a bad time, but it was not overly busy, so expected more... 😟
