Had to stand at the bar for half an hour before I could place a food order for me and my friend, then it was another half an hour before I noticed the food cooling on the kitchen’s pick-up area. The chef had rung the bell three times for a server to come pick it up but as no-one came my starving self just went and grabbed it. Basically, the pub was understaffed. And the barman on the upstairs bar refused to move with any sense of urgency. He got to people in the order we arrived - so rest assured I wasn’t waiting because he didn’t notice me - but the minimum wait seemed that magical 30 minutes. When the food finally came one hour after I entered the pub it wasn’t worth the wait nor its price. Even my ravenous hunger was not a good enough sauce to make it anything special. I love Irish pubs but I will never be coming back to this one.

Well.......step back in time walking into this place. You forget you're in Melbourne when you enter, well we did anyway. Pull up at the bar and order a Guinness and forget you're worries of the day. You may even order a Guinness Pie? We did and it was absolutely delicious. Staff were wonderful, I don't get this single file lining up to the bar for service thing, it was a pretty busy night and the bar was full, spread out across the bar, yet the lady behind the bar just seemed to know who next in line to serve. Perfect. No-one left waiting. Definitely go back there next time my wife and I are in town. Enjoy. We certainly did.

Decked out as a traditional Irish pub, our interest was piqued from the beginning. Great ambience and eclectic finishes add to an atmosphere that lends itself to lingering over both food and beer. While the menu is not extensive, there is plenty to like and our choice of rib eye on the bone was delicious. Plenty of sides to choose from and share. The place filled quickly, with people meeting up and chatting over a pint or two right into the afternoon.

Went for a quick drink with a friend. Gets filled very fast. We were seated upstairs near the kitchen and food looked good (unfortunately we didn’t have any).

Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent beers. The Guiness and Kilkenny were beautiful. Excellent atmosphere. The upstairs was lovely and the downstairs was great too. Bars on both levels and plenty of dark timber and memorabilia to set the theme. We loved the calamari, the legendary burger, the curry and the Guiness beef pie. The seasoning on the chips was fantastic too. Sometimes you just can't fault a place. This is one of those. We'll be back at the next opportunity. Highly recommend.

I think Irish Times Pub is a must seen pub in heart of Melbourne CBD. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Staffs were very kind. We ordered one chicken Parmi which was big enough for two persons. We also ordered a Caesar salad. Both were very delicious. Irish Times Pub is highly recommended we definitely go back there and take our friends with us. Their chicken parmigiana ranks second in Melbourne for me and the first for my husband.☺️ The size of chicken parmigiana became smaller in our second visit. Chicken Parmigiana 5/5 Caesar Salad 5/5 Beer 5/5 Garlic & Herbs Bread 4.5/5 Chips 5/5 Steak Sandwich 5/5 Wine Pinot Noir 3/5

We were group of 4 people. We order 2 main dish 1 starter and 1 greek salad. Each of us cost around 40$. The space was quite narrow and crowded (we came at Friday night). The food was good (8/10) especially the Irish plate starter and their famous beef pie. I chooses cider and all my friends try their beer and it was good and authentic.

This is the best food in town. Bangers and mash including vegetarian. The veggies were delicious. Compliments to the chef. Wonderful welcoming staff. Will definitely come again

Nothing better than a classic Irish pint on a cold summer's day in Melbourne 😜. Classic Irish pub vibes which I'm all about. We ate here in bangers and mash night which was bangers and mash and a beer or wine for $25. It was homely and delicious. We also had the calamari salad for a lighter meal option and it really hit the spot.

We love this pub! It's our favourite place to go on a spare afternoon for beer and wings. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is classic Irish pub. Great place to watch sports events. Their Buffalo wings have just the right amount of zing and their Sesame Guinness chicken is deliciously sticky and sweet. And of course, there's Guinness and Kilkenny on tap.

A gorgeous, comfy little pub, with generous portion sizes, home style comfort food which was well priced, and friendly staff. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely come back next time we’re in Melbourne! They were very accomodating of us wanting to order a few starters instead of mains for the kids, and gave us a quiet table like I requested which was really nice as I didn’t expect they’d be able to. Thanks guys!

Thoroughly enjoyed all foods we ordered. Had the chips and calamari for entrees. For mains, we had the calamari salad and salmon both super delicious. And for desserts tried the pav which was ok but the brownie was definitely the highlight!

    - $23 parmi tasted great: Napoli sauce was rich - loaded potato skins were great - onion rings were also great as they weren't cooked fully so not had a bit of bite to it - wedges were nice - atmosphere was good - did have to ask waiter twice for some water and we had to ask for menus which was a bit strange. Would give 5 star if service was a bit better

The Beef and Guinness pie was nice with chunky pieces of beef. But would have loved some pastry or thicker mashed potato. Onion rings were good. Staff are very laid back.

We came here to try their Christmas lunch, which was $60 pp set menu… And this is what we ordered: Entree: Garlic Prawns & Lamb Cutlets Mains: Roasted Turkey Breast, glazed with honey, rosemary & thyme... served with mash herb tossed green beans & cranberry jus. Dessert: Christmas Pudding & Panna Cotta Good food, with a good service. We particularly loved the prawns & the lamb cutlets. We now regularly come here for the drinks & the live music every Fri & Sat - 8pm till late.

Highly recommend!! Homely comfortable pub with friendly service. Stopped in for lunch on Good Friday not expecting much and was completely blown away by the service, friendly staff, delicious food and drinks. Can't go past a perfectly poured pint of Guinness. We had such amazing food we forgot to stop and take a photo, Snitzel, Guinness pie, buffalo wings, onion rings. We were stuffed and couldn't stop eating!

Good selection of beers on tap. Great food. Slightly on the expensive side. Definitely visit on Friday or Saturday night and request a table on the upper floor for live music. If you want to have a conversation then there is a cozy downstairs area too. The chips with curry sauce are a must order

Lovely little bar but terrible staff. Myself and my partner popped into get some lunch/drink and as we entered the door the lady behind the bar screamed at us the kitchen was closed. This was at 3pm on a Saturday. Anyway we stayed for a drink which took some time as she stood chatting to her friends and made us feel very unwelcomed. As every other customer came in they got the same treatment and all got told the kitchen was closed before they even asked for a menu. It was pretty quiet in the bar and I could see why as she was making customer feel so uncomfortable. This bar has great potential just please send this member of staff on a customer service course and maybe stop giving her friends free pints .

Not impressed being served a Beef in Guinness Pie in a chipped dish - at a cost of $27.00 The meat was ok but the pie served with a layer of mash under a layer of cheese was very sus! $15 for a pint of Guinness was a shock not worth having. One drink and I left. The bar staff were not interested when I pointed out the 1 chip that was delivered

What a great place to go. The lively atmosphere and the welcoming, homely service made the night great. The food is your classic Irish pub meals that were “hearty” and tasted homemade. Although this place might not be for all, you feel welcomed and at home.

Had a great time. Guinness was enjoyable, food came promptly, portions were well sized, chips were fabulous, we sat in the corner and had quite a few drinks while chatting away. Service was efficient despite it being a gently busy place. Toilets were typical for a bar, which is to say they had robust character, and you didn't linger. Toilets are upstairs and if you have difficulty getting around, it might not be a good place for you to expect a good time and a long time.

I can't believe you can get beautiful food like this from an Irish Pub. The eye fillet was cooked perfectly, with a side order of calamari salad. Everything just melted in your mouth. The sizzling brownie and pavlova was to die for. Huge compliments to the chef. Outstanding service to top of our last night in Melbourne. We will definitely visit here at The Irish Times Pub on Little Collins Street again. Thank you for a beautiful meal.💞

Beautiful little Irish Bar in the middle of the city. My latest visit was sparked by showing some friends from out of town a few spots in the city after the tennis. This is always a nice little surprise for people especially if you can get the tiny table under the stairs or a spot at the bar. First impressions as you approach is the grand Irish flag mounted to the facade of the building leaving you in no doubt of the Irishness of the place. Lots of different spots inside to suit different types of visits. Staff are always friendly, quick and competent, I’ve usually found the day and early evening staff to be a lot more engaging than the late night on the handful of times I’ve been so far. As you’d imagine they’ve a fine selection of Irish Whiskeys and other spirits Magners and Guinness too. A pretty well rounded selection. I’ve yet to try the food. It’s not a place I would seek out in the city but if I’m ever showing people around or passing by I’m always drawn in for a beer.

Food was absolutely amazing! We had pies on our first night and steak on our second. It was faultless. The barman (cathal)was such a nice guy, even though the pub was busy he still accommodated everyone almost alone as the 2 girls were nowhere to be seen for some reason. He's a great barman. Would highly recommend the Irish Times to anyone visiting Melbourne

Unpretentious, friendly pub. Good for a catch up with friends over a few beers while listening to nostalgic music. Reasonable, simple food - loaded potato skins with mozzarella, bacon, and sour cream were great. Staff were attentive and helpful.

This is the place I was introduced to Kilkenny. It's a very nice beer, much better than the Guinness I've had in Sydney (after which I'm nervous about trying it again). The pub has a nice atmosphere, friendly service, and the food come sour relatively fast. If you want pub food or and Irish pub, don't think you can go wrong here.

Absolutely brilliant. Small pub with a great atmosphere and friendly, hospitable staff. It's a favourite landing pad for after work drinks that stays open well into the night. A cosy spot I'm always happy to return to whenever I'm in town.

Recently visited for dinner. The food was delicious, the guy behind the bar was friendly and the beer was great however I've deducted a star as there was a lack of staff (only appeared to be the one guy behind the bar to look after the whole place) and the bathroom was a little unhygienic. However, overall the food, service and beer made up for the shortfalls. Will visit again. Thank you

A great pub to sit down and have a meal, share a pint and maybe meet some new friendly faces. Nearly always showing sports (AFL, Football, etc) including fights (UFC, etc) and the atmosphere is always top-notch. The staff are solid, usually very upbeat and funny. Food is very nice too for such a small pub. Live music is always a blast. Basically, just come here.

It is always a good fun place to go to for a social drink or meal after any event! I went along on this occasion and ordered an old fashioned at the bar to be different and it was one of the best I’ve ever tasted! The bartender made other great cocktails too and of course the Guinness on tap holds up well! Chatting with friends and a friendly bartender was fun and we were there until close without even realising the time pass!

Great local feel. It was remembrance day, so there were several men with medals. Friendly with a typical Irish pub feel (I've never been to Ireland). The Shepard's pie looked really good as they walked them past (we just dropped in for a drink). The Irish bartender made me a Hot Toddy = fantastic! I'd go back.

Love this place. Kick back have a good meal comfort food I'd say. Guiness on tap heaven. Atmosphere staff people friendly. Sports events on most of the time. Book a spot for special events. Keep doing what your doing.

A classic area to embrace the Irish spirit. Curry chips were delicious and made with Irish curry. Cauliflower, carrot and broccoli had delicious seasoning Buffalo wings were a pretty average sauce but such juicy tender meat

It's okay as a pub. It's extremely noisy and rowdy at night, other punters will be served before you due to a shortage of staff and beers on tap felt a little limited. Worth stopping by for a quick drink, but nothing more.

Very good but this pub was under staffed, I felt very sorry for the hard working staff. They tried hard to look after us but we could see they were stressed to the max. The food was delicious but a bit expensive My steak was $42 plus gravy $4 plus veggies $6 Total $52 WOW Gold steak and vegetables

Tucked away at the intersection of Queen and Little Collins street is a cozy Irish pub that's definitely worth a visit. During my experience, the friendly staff members upstairs made for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I found the overall vibe of the place to be relaxed and inviting. It's clear that the owners have taken great care to create an authentic Irish pub experience, from the decor to the music. Of course, no visit to an Irish pub would be complete without a glass of Guinness. I thoroughly enjoyed my pint and found it to be the perfect accompaniment to the atmosphere and overall experience. In conclusion, if you're looking for a laid-back spot to unwind and enjoy a drink, this small Irish pub is definitely worth checking out. The staff and atmosphere make for a delightful experience, and the Guinness is not to be missed.

I didn't eat here, I drank a few pints and enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff loved a craic and the patrons were merry.

All in all, nice place. Portions were huuuuge, but food was nice! Drinks were solid, bar staff were nice and attentive. I'd argue the atmosphere wasn't the liveliest, but at the time we were there it was more for pub grub than ruckus. Filled up on ribs and chicken, drank a few, and headed off into the night. No notes!

Very friendly service, a huge rack of ribs washed down with a lovely pint of Guinness, also advertised as an Appetiser.

Amazing food. I ordered the salmon. Even the green beans which are usually the most boring part of the meal were amazing. It came with mashed potato, a cooked tomato and pesto sauce around the edge as well as a slice of lemon to accompany the salmon and it was all incredible. My boyfriend got the beef burger and loved it too. Absolutely incredible meal. 5/5 ⭐️
