I have to say food was amazing here. But service? Terrible. We ordered appetizer, drinks & desserts because we had dinner previously, and the waiter was probably surprised. After he took our orders, quite rudely and curtly, we received a shared plate of scallops. They did not bother preparing them properly because we’re sharing. Bill came up to >$150 for this kind of service in a fine dining restaurant? My suggestion: Train your staffs better.

The best fine dining experience I've had so far. The restaurant had white linen table and an attentive wait staff who knew the menu well. It had a lovely intimate and romantic feel to the place. It was quiet enough you can hear each other. The tables were nicely spaced out. Food was on point. You must order the dessert. It is a restaurant for a special occasion.

Beautiful restaurant, very classy, service was lovely. When you walk in your greeted by staff and your jacket is taken to their cloak room. The open kitchen was awesome to see while dining. The food was good.

We ordered: prosciutto - 10/10 delicious! Risotto of the day - 2/10 the risotto was severely undercooked. There were even a few that you couldn’t bite through it. I love by al-dente pasta, but that was just inedible. We were only able to eat a third of the dish. Striploin Steak- 1/10 we ordered it to be cooked medium. It was over cooked. Only a single piece in the center was a bit pink, the rest was brown and dry. The edges were burnt (literally) you could taste the ash. We hardly ate it. Lots of left over. We were not asked how the food was even if we barely ate anything. Staff didn’t care. Would NOT recommend this restaurant at all. Over priced and inedible food.

A solid 3.5 stars rounded up I would say. Staff were absolute gems, service was wonderful but up until the end when we were ordering desserts and waiting for the Cheque, we were a bit forgotten. Food wise, wouldn’t say it was anything amazing, I loved the scallops, but the beef carpaccio was very lacking, the calamari rings were rather standard, oysters were fresh, but the oyster was rather tough and over cooked, my friend described it as tasting like chewy chicken. We got 3 entree sized pastas on top, I loved the gnocchi, it was honestly to die for and it was such a redeeming dish. The rabbit pasta (special) was a bit too Al dente for my liking but the rabbit was delicious, same goes for the duck risotto, was not a fan of the cook on it but that’s probably down to personal preference. Mains we had a lovely rib eye, already pre plated and split for sharing which was wonderful eye for detail from the chef. Thank you! The veal on the other hand was tender but oh so under seasoned. The salt and pepper shakers were very well utilized with both the veal and the mashed potato. We ended up adding a salad to offer some acidity because it was a HEAVY meal, lots of carbs, lots of protein, but the salad was sufficient to cut through a bit. We got the tiramisu and chocolate pudding at the end to share between 4, it was sufficient, tiramisu was very normal, loved the softness though. But the detail on the chocolate pudding was second to none, the chocolate covered popping rock candies were a delight and and melt in your mouth hot chocolate pudding paired with vanilla ice cream is never a combo you can go wrong with. Overall, for the price point I was expecting a fair bit more as Cecconis isn’t a cheap restaurant. It’s a nice dinner out but expectations weren’t entirely met I’d say.

My partner and I had a lovely night. His gluten intolerance was catered for with each course yet still delicious food. We had an amazing waiter called Ben who ensured we were provided with fantastic wine and food recommendations. He was attentive and quite a character - in a great way! It was also our anniversary and the little touches went a long way. We will definitely be back.

You come to Cecconi's expecting one thing in particular: Quality. Unfortunately for us, it fell short of our expectation. We ordered one pasta and two secondi to share and were let down by 2 out of 3 dishes. Unless they have changed the definition of al dente, the linguine was noticeably undercooked (albeit the bug meat was to die for!). And while the duck was impossible to fault, the beef brisket tasted much too similar to the corn beef from Coles for my liking. With a final bill well in excess of $200 (with a couple bottles of sparkling water and a glass of wine), it's safe to say that it was an overall disappointing experience. The only reason it got 4 stars instead of 3 was because of our incredible waitress.

Nice place, great food 👌 Exception to this is that the starter calamari was so salty - it was like the chef accidentally spilt a container worth of salt on the meal - it was very over powering. A colleague of mine ordered the mushroom risotto while the rest of the table ordered steaks, brisket, cotoletta etc, and all the meals came out except the risotto, which took another 15 mins. Then when it arrived it looked like something that a dog spewed up on a plate and it was apparently quite tasteless. All desserts are great. The entrees were all tasty. Staff could be more friendly too, as they are a bit too robotic.

We went expecting something nice and got far more. Wonderful ambience, delicious food, and a cheerful hostess, Julia. Everyone was nice. We ordered cured kingfish, seafood linguine, gnocchi, fish of the day, sorbeto and gelato. Every bite has kept me reeling even now. And without a doubt the best bread and chips on the side Exquisite Exquisite Exquisite!!!

The atmosphere in this place is buzzing but not too loud so you can hold a conversation. The waiters were informative and attentive and were world class. The food was exceptional too and enjoyed all the different dishes we tried. Really loved this place and would go back to try a few more dishes!!

The worst experience I’ve ever had! We went there for our anniversary! Such a lame, ordered Affettati and a pasta! Affettati was awful, so many crunchy breads with heaps of salamis (very bad taste tho) and no dips! How can someone swallow all these crunchy hard sticks/breads? Uh I forgot to tell you about pasta! Just bunch of rockets in tomatoes with pasta and olives! Just awful! Happy we ordered some chips, saved us not to order food from somewhere else! We also asked them to put s.th on dessert as anniversary sign, never ask anything from unfriendly staff!

Used to be very good food. Unfortunately, definitely not anymore, may be changing chef's. Very ordinary cooking and also I never been to any fine dinning that serve side vegetables with Tomato sauce and Mayonnaise...Is this a new trend? I don't know, but definitely I would not serve this to my guests.

Had a booking for 8 people, was escorted to the private dining room upon arrival. The moment we entered, we were greeted by super friendly and professional staff. The food is amazing - I’ve been to Michelin star restaurants and this is seriously up there if not better. Could not be happier with my service and experience at this fantastic restaurant. 1000000/10.

Simply magnificent. The dishes were done with great execution. This restaurant has such an introvert exterior, but as you walk in, it’s a bustling upscale scene where everyone seems to be having a good time. I was escorted to a table tucked in the private area in the corner of the restaurant. The waiter who served us was extra chatty and he really upsold us everything! As the food came, everything was done in perfect manner. My personal favorites has to be the duck and the “VIP” wagyu steak. That crispiness of the duck skin is truly salivating. What’s funny is that as we were finishing dinner, my friend told me that Tyson Fury (the famous British boxer) were at the restaurant one week before us. If Tyson Fury eats here, you know this place is gonna be good. I, Prince L, will definitely come back again 10/10.

Classic restaurant to have dinner with friends or family. It is a good choice if you are celebrating a friend' s birthday. Food was served in a nice simple clean way. Fish of the day was rich with herbs, sauce and veggies. Small suggestion: order side salad and a glass of wine with this dish. Service was excellent, the staff were so helpful and the environment of the place was beautiful.

Went to Melbourne for a weekend getaway. My wife and I were looking for good Italian food on our first day, and we found this restaurant, although we initially thought it was for casual dine-in. The restaurant is suitable for business meetings, but since we already booked, we decided to give it a try. Great food and great service. However, if you are a tourist looking for a large serving, this be place might not be recommended.

I recently visited your restaurant, and while the service provided by the young lady was excellent and the ambience was inviting and professional, I cannot recommend the food. I was particularly disappointed as I had chosen your restaurant to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. I had high hopes for a great food experience, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I was excited to try the rabbit dish on your menu but found it to be overcooked and too salty. Regrettably, I did not have the opportunity to express my disappointment to the waiter on the night. Given your restaurant's high ratings on various websites, I was expecting much more.

Romantic elegant setting with impeccable service. Have been many times but think quality has dropped from what it used to be. Calamari were very tender, rich decadent chocolate cake, eye fillet was disappointing. Ordered mine medium, was dry, not juicy, hard to swallow & not enough gravy. Zucchini 1 slice tasted bitter & like charcoal, not appetising. Two of us Ordered the eye fillet & were both disappointed.

I’m visiting from the States. Had dinner here last night. The food was great but the service was terrible. We sat down and were asked about drinking choices, I ordered the wine and sparkling water. The waiter was short and barely gave anything recommendations and when he did recommend something it seemed forced. He barely spent any time attending to my table. Took a while before he asked what we wanted. We got the bill and they charged me for the sparkling water that I never got, despite asking for it twice. That was removed but the waiter disappeared when we were ready to pay until I got up to find him. This is my representation of what a Melbourne restaurant experience, I’m saddened.

Stopped in at the bar at lunch after reading that they make one of Melbourne’s best Negronis. The recommendations were not wrong. Dark, rich, perfectly chilled and served in a heavy, chilled tumbler. Service was super speedy and attentive in this plush establishment where one is naturally inclined to speak a little softer.

If you are wanting to impress a lady take her here!! I visited here with work colleagues and we had a beautiful fine dining experience. The waiter was attentive and had fabulous knowledge of the menu. The restaurant itself has a very romantic & had a intimate feel to it (everybody looks great in low light). I ordered the lamb, being kiwi and having had many lamb dishes in my time, this gave me a sense of home and was cooked to perfection. I would visit here again for a special occasion.

Beautiful Italian restaurant Best prosciutto I’ve had and very generous serve. Excellent seafood linguine too. Partner loved the veal. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. So happy to spend my money here supporting a lovely restaurant after a long lockdown. Oh and they make the creamiest butter from buffalo milk, delicious!!

The best Italian restaurant, I wanna have every dish in the menu, it's exactly how I like it. Come back for another visit after 5/6 years, the food still so amazing. Highly recommended for seafood lover: fish of the day; tiger prawn; scallop; oyster (deep sea feeling)

Great experience, until you receive the bill. Food is consistently good and service is excellent, but prices are rather excessive. Small starters are over $30, mains $50-60, a few leaves of salad or a handful of fries $12, $130 for a bottle of wine that retails for $25 at Dan Murphy's. You really can't justify these prices. Oh, and we paid over $100 for water.

Old school fine dining, best gnocchi I've ever had. Flavours are so good. Loved for date night, quiet enough for conversation. Great service. Side note, loved the interior lights (where are they from?)

Spacious New York style basement restaurant with slick decor, an open kitchen and a huge cellar bar. The restaurant gives off an elegant, romantic and intimate vibe. The wait staff were charming and knowledgeable about the food and wine, and the service throughout the night was outstanding. Featured dishes (✨ - highlights) Starters 🦪 - Freshly shucked oysters [MP] - very fresh, a must ✨ 🦪 - Seared scallops [$32] - plump scallops! I loved!! ✨ 🐙 - Roasted Fremantle octopus [$32] - well-cooked octopus w/ cute little potato pieces, a good starter Pasta 🥔 - Potato gnocchi [$44] - my favourite dish of the night! Good texture and flavour! A must order ✨ 🦀 - Seafood Linguine [$50] - good seafood-to-pasta ratio but overall, a little underwhelming Mains & sides 🥩 - Veal cotoletta [$60] - a huge serving, great for sharing between a group, but probably too much for one. The green apple salad balanced and complimented the cotoletta very well 🥩 - Black Angus Scotch Fillet [$90] - tender with a nice crust, yum!! ✨ 🥔 - Mashed potato [$15] 🥦 - Broccolini [$17] Overall, a very delicious dinner with many drinks! We were super full by the end of the meal, so we skipped dessert and finished the night with some Heradura Anejo tequila shots and orange slices - yum! A disappointment. Overrated, overpriced and not even close to expectations. Most of the street food in Melbourne is better than this. Haven’t had a pasta taste worse in my life. The meet was overcooked to the point it was bitter. Paid $300. Will never come back to this nightmare.

Absolutely the best food we have ever had. We compare every meal out to this place and nothing even comes close to the quality and taste. We have been going for about 15 years and never had a bad meal. Staff are excellent and the place is beautiful. Highly recommend

Cecconi's is a silver service, old school Italian restaurant done really well. A beautiful fitout with carpet floors and high ceilings means you can have a proper conversation with a large table which is great. Service here is top notch and super friendly. The food is top level Italian done amazingly well and the best ingredients. The scallops were super fresh and tasty, the pork was next level melt in your mouth. Highly recommend

One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Was extremely impressed with service, quality of food and the ambience. Table size is something I value and it was good to see tables well spaced and also appropriately sized. The pappardelle is the best I’ve ever had. 10/10 dish. In fact I came back a second time because I tried my guests dish, and I was that impressed I had to order it for myself. The prosciutto board and cheese was also superb. Arancini also fantastic! They had tasty cocktails and nice wine list as well. Overall it is a great spot for a corporate dinner and a date night. Highly recommend and a rare review of 10/10. Well done!

We dined here to celebrate a wedding anniversary and we’re charmed by the hospitality and lively dining room that was buzzing late into the evening. The scallops and burrata were a perfect light start and the brisket was unbelievable! My wife had a tomato based pasta dish and it was a bit over done and they waiter forgot the fresh parmesan which was a bit disappointing. There was a fantastic wine list both by the bottle and by the glass.

beautiful ambience in this popular and long-standing ny style italian restaurant in the heart of melb. friendly service by most staff, however with some being dismissive, understandable on such a busy night. our main waitress, extremely attentive and friendly, informing us of all specials and answering all our questions, as well as often topping up water/cutlery etc. as for the food - we dined in a large group so were able to try a huge range of the menu. one of those places were mains are just as good as entrees. the scallops were an all-round crowd pleaser, with lots of flavour and textures, as well as the special prawn-stuffed zuchinni flowers. mains all hit the spot, as well as drinks. while there was a longer-sided wait on food, this wasn't a problem with the lively atmosphere (huge open kitchen!) and good company. some of the best food i have has in melbourne to be honest. fancy but tasty and generous.

I'm giving two stars to this place for how the restaurant looks and for the attentive nature of the waitstaff, even though they hardly smiled. That aside, the food was BEYOND average. I ordered the seafood linguine at $38 (the entree portion) to get a plate with one prawn on it, a piece of salmon the size of half my pinky, some other fish, 2 clams, 1 mussel. That's it. The dish had very little flavour but a lot of olive oil. My partner had the beef and pork ragu and said it was ok. The zucchini flowers and arancini balls were good but the worst part was the $30 cannoli we were hoping would be heavenly, that turned out to be the worst cannoli experience ever. Either they over fried the shell or had tried to add their own bitter, citrus twist to it but...it was so hard to bite into and tasted terrible! I had booked this restaurant for my partners birthday hoping it would be an incredible experience over the other highly recommended Italian restaurants and was so disappointed. Will certainly not be returning.

I have wanted to try Cecconi’s for such a long long time, but was also scared of the prices here! It’s so expensive ? We got escorted to our seats by our matrie’d and he was so snotty! Throughout the meal, whenever he serves us it’s like he just wanted us to get out of here cos we are not ladies who lunch or wealthy businessmen in suits. When he gave us the bill he basically gave us a curt thank you and that’s it, didn’t even look us in the eyes or smile. We got a basket of bread, for two people we got 3 pieces of bread?! Are we supposed to fight over the last piece? We ordered a scallop entree to share. The scallops were beautifully cooked and plump, really delish, although my friend felt the accompaniment of smashed peas and mint was a bit meh. My friend had the salmon and prawn ravioli with sea urchin sauce. The sea urchin wasn’t very pronounced but my friend thoroughly enjoyed the dish. My squid ink seafood linguine is a bit of a hit and miss. The flavours are so beautiful and the pasta was cooked perfectly, however some of the seafood like the scallops and mussels, whilst fresh, were over cooked, shrunk and tough. We shared a mushroom side dish which was generously portioned and had such deliciously earthy flavours I couldn’t help but kept shoveling more mushrooms into my mouth even though I was quite full by this stage. All in all, I felt like it’s extremely expensive to go to a restaurant that looks down at you, with food that isn’t cooked to near perfection. $67/pp without wine

The food and wine were good. Well seasoned and cooked. However the service does not quite match the food quality. Found the wait staff did not seem to engage with customers. As you are paying over $50 per person here you expect attentive service. No smile or greeting, almost as if we were an inconvenience to them. Overall not worth the price due to the service.

Went to Cecconi’s as a group for dinner. The food was amazing however service is extremely poor. We had to ask for menus and that took 10+ minutes to obtain. No drinks menus were given to us and had to be asked for. We had to wait roughly 15minutes before someone came and took our order. No staff came to refill our glasses from our bottle of wine. After we completed main courses we weren’t even offered dessert menu, in which we had to ask for specifically again! Then when it came to settle the bill the server seemed annoyed that we didn’t leave any tips!

We recently celebrated my wife's Birthday at Cecconi's, what a great night it was. The private function room arranged by Sophia (events coordinator) is an amazing space. Private yet still part of the main restaurant area creating an amazing atmosphere. The food and food presentation was 10/10. A shout out to Laura and other wait staff for the amazing service. Thanks Vince & Amanda

Very classy restaurant and the ambience is amazing. The waitress was so friendly. Food tasted good however a little bit too expensive for that.

My partner and I were given a voucher and consequently dined in on Friday night. Although the food was nice, we feel the prices they charge do not much the quality of food or experience. We were charged $5 for a glass of water (still and sparkling). The Caprese salad side was $26 - by spending that much we expected higher quality produce whereas we felt the tomatoes were akin to something you'd get from Coles. We ordered the prosciutto as an entree for $32.00 - we were given 4 thin slices of prosciutto and one ball of bocconcini. Considering this is a dish that requires no preparation or cooking, we thought the price was excessive. Most disappointingly, we ordered entrees and mains and were out within an hour - food came out far too quickly and seemed they were eager to get us out. Definitely not what you would expect for $135 per head. Our experience at somewhere like Cutler & Co which has comparable prices was that of a much higher quality experience all round.

Good food, but a bit expensive. A fancy place, so if that is what you are after I can recommend it.
