We had the $65pp Chef’s Hands Menu which was really good value. The ingredients were all very fresh and the ceviche and grilled steak was just perfect!

When one talks about Peruvian Cuisine the two most fascinating things that come to our minds were the Piscos and Ceviche, and then, as you are walking towards the restaurant, it's difficult to miss their claim of Pisco consumption. We werent too sure about those claims but we had already forgotten about it as a very warm smile greets us, and this lady is charming. And then another charmer takes our order, and then a wonderful gentleman..... In short, from the time we are greeted at the reception until we left, not a single dull moment spent at this vibrant and loud (in a good way). Of course, in between, when we were not too busy enjoying life, laughing and wondering how extensive their bar menu is , we were served our favoured booze and food, and the same goes for it. Barring one minus, everything was just beautifully done. Ordered a Pisco based Cocktail (Sorry, we were too busy celebrating our moments spent here) a gin based drink and a passion fruit based Mocktail. They all were LOVELY. Ordered a Traditional Ceviche, 2 Chicken Skewers, 1 Lamb Skewers and Papa Renella (Slow cooked Beef served with rice). Barring the Lamb Skewer, which was slightly chewy and overdone, everything else was beautiful. It was crowded, and attendants were so occupied but we wouldn't even care if they would arrive few minutes later than usual as we were just having a gala time. This place and people working here are Full of Life, and adding to that the Delish serves they serve made every moment cherished worth every penny spent. Vegans and Vegetarians would not have too many options to choose from but what the heck if you do not come here to experience another side of happiness. Looking forward to coming back.

What a great find - the food, the drinks, the staff and the atmosphere of this place all combine to create one of Melbourne’s best kept secrets!! This Peruvian restaurant in a typical melbourne basement is the perfect spot for the special night out as well a casual dining or drinks. The staff are exceptionally engaging and help guide you through the wonderful menu and the amazing drinks list Do make sure you read carefully any marketing - do they actually serve guinea pig ? Are the golden tickets actually up for grabs tonight? Some of the best pisco sours I have ever had!

A good place to enjoy a meal and a drink. Visited the place after work and the place was crowded the wait staff was very helpful as we did not book a table in advance. The menu has many meals its better to try each dish than ordering a set menu. Tried several dishes and all of them were good. The bar also stocks a large variety if alcohols. A good place to try new good.

I love this bar and restaurant. Excellent wine list and good tasting menu. It’s so satisfying to find such a excellent place after going down stairs in an alley!! I love the art on the walls. I left poor but full drunk and happy. I will be back!

What a great place! Sketchy entrance, see pictures. Service was outstanding, waitress explained all the dishes to us and made recommendations. Drinks were amazing. Had a smoked old fashioned, wow, very good. Wife had a pisco berry sour, she loved it. Food was delicious. Highly recommend.

Superior than Ceviche London. Best ceviche outside PERU, without a doubt! In terms of Ceviche (traditional) it’s definitely the best one I had outside Peru. I’ve eaten ceviche in places such as Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Chengdu, Madrid, etc. And this ceviche is deft the best. The experience took me back to “Mercado de Miraflores o Jesus Maria”. I also had pisco sour with Peruvian pisco, very good! The selection of alcoholic drinks is good if you don’t want to go down the pisco route. For food we also had lomo saltado (proper Barranco District Lomo saltado or Abuelita lomo saltado like) and it was superb! And of course, we wanted to try more, so we had Jalea Mixta and Arroz con mariscos. Super good and tasty. Unfortunately I was so full already, as the portions are so generous generous (at least for me) and was unable to finish everything. For desert we had tres leches and it was great. We had to share it as it was quite sweet (expected from tres leches), but still delicious. The service is amazing, everyone is so kind and welcoming, we felt like home in all fairness. The place looks trendy but people that work here are so friendly that you don’t feel it at all. Whilst writing my review, I’m sat here again waiting for my ceviche as a second visit to this restaurant before I head back to London.

I've spent about 3 weeks in and around Melbourne whilst travelling and this is by far and away the best meal I've had here. We went for the 'Chef's Hands Menu' option where they bring out an array of different dishes to share, and everything was exceptional. The flavours were authentic, vibrant and complex, yet not too heavy, and we finished feeling satisfied but not weighed down. My wife is a vegetarian and they catered wonderfully for her, bringing out dishes that were creative and delicious in their own right, not simply standard dishes with the meat removed. Many of their dishes were gluten and dairy free too, making it a great venue for those with dietary requirements. As well as the food we also tried the Pisco Sour cocktail, having never tried Pisco before, and instantly became fans! If you come here I'd definitely recommend the Chef's Hands Menu option, you won't be disappointed. At the very least try the cerviche, scallop and steak dishes and thank me later. Throughout the meal the staff were attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable. They really made you feel relaxed and at home. The basement setting with low light and creative decor really added to the ambience too. If I was living in this city I would be here every month!

Great bar hidden away from the busy cbd noise. A very welcoming venue with a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails. Looking forward to our next visit to try the food which looked great.

What a lovely unexpected discovery! When our first option didn’t work out, Google steered us here & very glad it did. Funky fit out, friendly & attentive staff. We now have an appreciation for their pisco sours. Tasty food & a great atmosphere for a rainy arvo. Thanks guys

Hi, this place is just great. We turned up yesterday a party of 7 without a booking. Their amazing staff made room for us and guided us through what it was going to be the best peruvian food experience I've had other than in Peru (yes, better than Pastuso if you were wondering it). Price to value, this place is clearly a must.

Fantastic cocktails (come for the pisco, stay for Jonnys Negroni or Carolyns Old Fashioned) and excellent food. Makes you wish for a larger stomach.

Amazing cocktail and food menu! Absolutely delicious! Almost like a speakeasy atmosphere, but with a modern artistic vibe. Truly unique and worth visiting. The staff make the place, they keep a steady rotation of Spanish speakers if that's your thing, but no worries if it's not. It's around the back with an alley entrance across from an amazing wall painting of a bearded long haired man. (In case you found this on Google maps and are confused.) Honestly, seemed like a great place for a meal or simply cocktails on a night out, but the food was upscale and authentic. (In case you are looking for a little South American cuisine.) The chef is friendly and loves a compliment if you request to speak with him. It's not a simple bar food/pub like place, but it won't break your wallet either. It's not so upscale that you would feel out of place in casual clothes, but I wouldn't go in sandals and a t-shirt either. Oh, and least I forget, you have to try one of their pisco sours if you haven't yet! Truly an exceptional experience for your taste buds and your mood. :)

The best Peruvian food I've ever had in Melbourne. The ambience is great. The food is delicious. The Ceviche is great and the anticuchos is fantastic. Causa is also very nice. The have a wide range of great cocktails. The only thing is that, it can get very crowded, hence I'd book in advance. It can also be noisy.

We started with the Spanish beer and local Australian Prosecco, one of the best I had before. As routing having Peruvian food, Ceviche Traditional is a good start! The white fish is very fresh and the onion is just right. Our favorite are the Pollo ala Brasa and Lomo Saltado that both chicken legs and beef is super juicy and tender. We took time to order rounds of dishes that we shared among our friends. The waiter and the manager are quite friendly, and we feel cozy with the setting and music. The desserts are amazing to conclude our wonderful dinner outing with good friends. Highly recommend choice when you are in this area.

This is looks like a dingy bar in a basement from the outside but looks are deceiving. It’s a hip bar and you should definitely their Pisco Sour. I sat at the bar and the bar tenders are a treat to watch. And they are super friendly.

This is a place where dreams come true. While they might appear to be a regular bar don't be fooled. On a cold and stormy night you'll find friends you didn't know you needed and love you didn't realise you needed in your life. This bar is magical and the magic is the palpable kind where you walk away feeling better for having been tricked. I cannot recommend this place enough and if I could I'd worry about the star rating system.

Lots of love for this restaurant, we’ll definitely be back if we’re in Melbourne again!!! Pisco, Ceviche Mexicano and Lomo Saltado are a must. ?

A great underground venue with delicious creations in both food and drink. The hospitality of all staff is friendly and welcoming. I had the unfortunate mistake of leaving my sunglasses at the table when we left, and the team were quick on the phone to let me know they had them safely aside awaiting collection. Thank you for not only a great venue, but a great service to match. Will be back, 100%!

Amazing hidden gem. Getting here is a bit tricky as you have to go downstairs through one of Melbourne alley's, but once you arrive you will definetely won't be dissapointed. From the music to the setting, the food and the staff. The music and the lighting with the couches reminds me of an exclusive club in the 70's in New York, with a mix of blues and jazz, whilst the food is a spanish and latin american fusion from the famous Pisco peruvian drink (I absolutely loved the maracuya one, a must try!). I went there for a couple of drinks and some snacks and I am definetely coming back for their amazing lunch deals from wednesday to friday. The staff is incredibly sweet and friendly, if you have time to sit in thr bar and have a quick chat with the bartenders you will leave with a laugh.
