Loved this place!!!! Really good food and not too expensive!!! Also the person serving us was really thoughtful. He was really thorough in asking questions about how we wanted the spice level to be, what we felt like eating, if we wanted the Entrees before our mains, suggested a couple of things in the menu, etc. :) Highly recommend the lamb chops and buttered chicken!!!

Truly the BEST Indian food I have ever had! The sauces were so incredibly tasty and the meat was super tender! Was super reasonably priced as well and was not disappointed. Food was served fresh within 10 minutes and the staff were very friendly. They offered both takeaway and eat in. We chose eating in as the restaurant had a very cosy and semi romantic environment. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place. Really good food. It's family run, the hosts were very friendly and we're attentive to detail when ordering the meal. Be warned, the hot is seriously hot, they do not hold back! They produced generous portion sizes, a really good feed. I recommend if you're in the area and are feeling more than peckish!!

35/PP In the Royal Arcade, there is indeed a secret real Indian restaurant. Before my visit, I asked an Indian buddy for his thoughts, and he told you will not be disappointed. It is, in fact! The staff was attentive and kind. Definitely return to try more dishes. - [Butter Chicken] Immersing the tender pieces of chicken, which have been marinated overnight, in a silky tomato sauce with fresh garlic and blanched tomatoes is heavenly amazing. - [Tandoori Combo] The meats were cooked well, with pleasing heat levels that matched the season. The lamb chops and chicken tikka were well complemented by the yoghurt sauce with hints of herbs. Coupled with truly fluffy, chewy garlic naan, just delicious.

An amazing find while on a work trip. The food is aromatic and spicy, just as curry should be. The owner is a generous and genuine guy. I'll be back every time I visit Melbourne as a highlight!

Hidden gem with amazing food. Don’t expect a fancy place but do expect awesome food and good old fashioned service. Each dish was full of traditional Indian flavours and expertly cooked. Highly recommended Gourmet Curry Hut Cuisine.

Absolutely trash vegetarian food. Daal makhni and malai kofta tasted very bitter and stale, as if it had been left out for 3 days. The owner refused to believe us and said “nobody else has complained” and that our taste buds were “different.” We assume that most of the clientele eats non veg (so obviously they didn’t complain) and hence the vegetarian curries are left over from several days ago. We ended up not paying because we had barely eaten anything and couldn’t possibly stomach another bite. Do not recommend at all for vegetarian curries unless you want to be gaslight by a restaurant that clearly doesn’t know how to cook vegetarian food. Truly haven’t felt this gaslight since my last ex. Feels cliche to say this but if I could give 0 stars, I would.

Well, I can't say that food was not good or something, but felt the portion size were quite small. We went for fish curry and rice and afterwards felt quite empty. So ended up having chicken tikka, an entree item.. Lol. The place it self was very small with congested seating arrange with some 5 tables placed on the corridor. The staff was friendly and attentive. Service was reasonably quick.

Its been a while since i had amazing INDIAN/PAKISTANI DESIIII FOOD and I was looking for new but amazing place. Got this on maps and was skeptical about reviews and stuff and thought “ is it gonna be worth it or just normal taste “. We ordered thali and biryani ( spicy ) and honestly speaking “ IT WAS DAMNNNN GOOOD!!!!” I had such an amazing food after months and it was new, unique, amazing masalas, taste, service and everything was perfect. Would definitely go again soon, price is a bit high but its okay “ worth it “

Gourmet Curry Hut Indian Cuisine, tucked away in a small arcade, serves up some tantalizing dishes! I must say, their tandoori meat and bread are exceptional, and bursting with flavors. However, I found the biryani a tad too wet for my taste, and the portion was on the smaller side. Another minor hiccup was when the staff missed one of our drink orders, despite reminding her twice. But I must admit, the staff was friendly, and her forgetfulness seemed genuine, so it didn't sour our experience. I think Gourmet Curry Hut offers delightful Indian cuisine, and despite a few hiccups, it's still worth a visit.

We had an amazing experience at Gourmet Curry Hut a few nights back. Every stage of the experience was great. All staff were extremely kind and helpful at all time and were happy to assist you with anything. Excellent customer service. Food… all of our dishes had their own unique taste. So many flavours! So delicious!

Amazing little indian restaurant. The madras and bhaji were great, but the tandoor cooked lamb chops were out of this world. Mix in friendly staff and you get a place that I'll certainly be back for more.

I wanted to celebrate competing at a bodybuilding show and what better way, after several months of strict diet, than an Indian meal? The Gourmet Curry Hut did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was just right - intimate but welcoming and the service was great. It hit the spot for all of my family. A very relaxed restaurant with really friendly staff. Next time I am in Melbourne I will definitely eat there again.

Visiting Melbourne from The States and we had a wonderful family meal here! The staff was friendly, quick and helpful. The food was tasty and all came out very quickly. When we asked the host for suggestions of other places to visit in the city, he gave helpful advice and went above and beyond! I accidentally forgot my purse when we left and came back 10 minutes later, they had it safely tucked behind the bar waiting for me. I would absolutely come back here and will recommend to others!!!!

I recommend their butter chicken! It’s DELICIOUS! Rice is perfectly cooked and their portions are decent. Only downside is that they didn’t tell me they surcharge $3.28 on weekends even if you use cash. I only realized once they gave me the receipt.

Myself and friends have been coming to this restaurant for the last 4 years from Germany for the F1. We can honestly say that this is one of the best Indian restaurants around the globe. The food is spectacular, flavoursome and very fresh. The heat level is cooked to the level you prefer. Very clean place and the staff are very welcoming, hence we always return. Although we were devastated that the F1 got cancelled but are glad that we will be eating here for the next 4 nights. Keep up the amazing work 10/10

Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere. I had the lamb Korma and chicken rice, both were delicious, the Nan bread was also super. They just can improve their rice a little more but still very nice though. The only one that could really make a difference is if they have hand washing facilities as the current situation is really not working. You need to get a bathroom key then take the lift to the first floor which is a long story. Otherwise everything was perfect ??

I can't stop bragging about my experience at Gourmet Curry Hut. It's a journey of delicious traditional Indian food. You could customize the spice level. Each dish is so thoughtfully prepared and presented. The dishes are excellent portion sizes for sharing to be able to taste your way around quite a bit of the menu. Their butter chicken, goat curry and fish curry is to die for. Highly recommended as your top Indian food experience in Melbourne!

Not my first time eating here. The food served here is purely authentic and one of the best Indian restaurant that I have eaten at. They always managed to cater to my spice level (very spicy) which not many restaurants I visited could adhere to. Service is great too! Definitely would recommend to anyone who wants true authentic Indian food.

If you are in CBD and want some authentic Indian food experience I would highly recommend this restaurant. Super amazing food, great ambience, friendly staff especially the owner, honestly what a man. We went to dine with couple of my friends and totally loved it. He also gave my friends some complimentary drinks. 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️. Insight: try beef saag & butter chicken. Loved it. Chef nailed it.

We have felt quality of food does not match the price. It is quite pricey. We brought aloo and paneer kulcha. There is little to no stuffing of aloo/paneer in the kulchas. Authentic kulchas come with good amount of stuffing. Also, there was rice stuck under one of the kulchas. Take away food quality is not satisfactory. I am disappointed!

Gourmet curry hut feels like home, the service is amazing, they believe in the quality over the quantity. And it shows! They’ve been around for 22 years, the kitchen is a beautiful place full of incredible smells, we had the Dahl and the Lamb Madras both hot but not overpowering. The Masala complimented the meal perfectly. You can tell the food is made with love, and after a conversation with the owners ( Satwant and his son, Luvjit were working today ) we know it is. Satwant has catered for Bruce Springsteen and had a good stall in the Queen Victoria Wednesday night markets. Overall amazing little window to another world in Hun Arcade on Little Collins street. Undeniably perfect experience. Will hope to come back regularly. 🧡

Just had the Non Veg Thali that they serve, extremely delicious! A nice variety of curries and a nice portion of rice, naan and papadum to accompany the different curries! Friendly staff, the atmosphere is great. Hidden in one of the alleyways of Melbourne’s CBD. Definitely going back during a break from class or after class! Thank you for such a great meal! $32.50 it’s worth it!!!!

We got takeaway from here. Really lovely food. With each meal there was an option of mild, medium or hot spice level. We really enjoyed our meal- spinach pakoras, butter chicken, lamb madras, veg korma and some of lamb cutlets. Good sizes portions for take away. Prices were a little more than we are used to in Perth but enjoyed the meal so no complaints here

Waited nearly an hour for 1 starter, 1 curry and roti. People who came after us got served and we were still waiting. When the food arrived, it had no flavour. No garnishing or chutneys were provided with the Aalu tikki, too dry. Will never recommend to anyone. 0/10 very disappointed.

A hidden gem! The food is fabulous and the owners are always very friendly. When I'm in Melbourne, I try to get here for at least one meal. The restaurant is cosy and tucked away in an arcade, so it's not a flashy place where you bring people to impress them with a fancy dining room. However, I find that adds to the personal charm of the place, where you have the opportunity to chat with the owners (if that's your thing) whilst eating their delicious food. Recently, they introduced me to one of their desserts, Gulab Jamun. I'd never had this before and found it to be an interesting marriage of a deep fried cheese flavoured dumpling covered in a sugary, slightly rose flavoured syrup. Definitely worth a try to finish off your meal, particularly to settle your palate from the chilli.of your meal. Speaking of chilli, being very authentic food, I've found their food to be on the spicy side. As such, I usually ask for mild chilli.

This is the best Indian eatery in the CBD. Rich, textured dishes, crisp, buttery naan and friendly and helpful staff all blend together to create a perfect inner city food experience. Possible to get a fantastic meal under $20. Not a huge establishment so even when busy food arrives quickly. Amazing.

Very fast pickup and friendly service. The Chicken Naan was a terrible disappointment though. It had very tiny pieces of chicken scattered inside -- certainly not "stuffed", like with a typical naan. Also, it had barely any flavour; I had to use sauce to liven it up. The Kashmiri Naan was similarly disappointing – the fillings were quite sparse and the nuts tasted stale.

I stumbled upon this little restaurant by accident. The reviews weren't lying. The service is very polite and friendly, the food is delicious. I had the chicken curry. They even ask the level of spiciness you can handle. It is not cheap, but not very expensive either. I would say it is mid range. I very highly recommend.

Came here with my mum and aunt for my birthday lunch. The service was amazing the waiter was super attentive and kind. For 2 rounds of drinks and 3 meals we paid $109, for that price you'd expect it to be mid to low quality but it was AMAZING. Genuinely well made well present food from a simple small menu that manages to pack variety and flavour in well. We left a $50 because we were so happy with it.

We had lunch today at this restaurant. The food was yum. The place is hidden in the arcade near H&M in Bourke street. We ordered naan, sahi paneer, chicken curry and Channa curry. Overall I like the food but it’s bit pricey compared to other Indian restaurants and the quantity of the curries was good too. The only issue is with the space, the restaurant is a bit congested and the tables were small. The staff were 👍

Went there for my birthday dinner with my party on Friday. Butter chicken was top notch, I’ve also never had mushroom based curry before but we also had the mushroom beefy curry which was also really good. Garlic naan was great. And the service was awesome. There was a bit of an issue with the payment device - the staff there we so hospitable and gave us a couple complimentary beers for the inconvenience. Great little place

The butter chicken here will melt your heart. It really is the best. Cures a hangover. Heals the soul. The service is a bit….”hood”. Takeaway available. No loyalty to customers given Covid? Shameful. The restaurant right now is very quiet compared to other restaurants in the foot print. I highly recommend a proper loyalty program so you don’t get eaten by your competition. I’ll be back. For sure. Happy birthday Jay xx Curry for dinner babes x

Photo: vegetable samosas. Super busy restaurant. Food is good, they mostly serve curry. I guess it's better to book a table, because they're very busy and you might not get a table if you just walk in. We waited for our food for over 1 hour, but staff is super attentive and kind. Food is tasty, a little bit expensive and small portions but I can tell they serve good quality food. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant

We felt welcome and the staff was attentive, full of smiles and good 'vibes'. We would definitely recommend other couples and groups of friends to eat at this restaurant.

I’ve tried Indian food for first time ever (as I don’t like too much spices or curry) in this small and hidden restaurant and I really like it. Everything was delicious and yummy. I couldn’t take any photos as I was super hungry. Not suitable for date or having fancy foods. It’s kind of having delicious street foods in small restaurant. Also, their table are a bit small as we couldn’t fit our food on table. I will definitely return if I want to have Indian foods. Thank you 😊

A hidden gem in Little Collins Street. The most amazing food served. Would be in our top 5. Everything was delicious and tasty. The service was fantastic as well. Look forward to our next visit.

Nice atmosphere, liked the food variety but the portions are small. We had butter chicken, coconut rice and lamb chops. Taste was ok but I had more tasty curries in other places. It’s a little bit pricey considering the portion size and quality. The service was good though.

Best butter chicken of my life. Servings were a little small for the price but it was delicious. Tucked down an alley, was very quiet when we went late on a Sunday night.

Listen... I love butter chicken. I also love spicy food. But I can never find a spicy butter chicken that meets my expectations. But when I asked for spicy butter chicken, by golly did they deliver. Spiciest and best butter chicken I've had in a long time. The naan is also fantastic and crispy, I would definitely recommend it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gourmet Curry Hut, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of amazing. This establishment proved to be an excellent choice for a family dinner, offering not only delectable cuisine but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles from the staff, creating an immediate sense of comfort. The ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, making it an ideal setting for a family gathering. Each dish was crafted with care, and the flavors were truly exceptional. The spices were perfectly balanced, allowing the individual ingredients to shine. I had the pleasure of trying their signature curry Butter Chicken and Tandoori Chicken, and it was a revelation. The rich and aromatic sauce enveloped tender pieces of meat, resulting in a dish that was both satisfying and indulgent. And let's not forget the vegetarian options—my family members who opted for them were equally impressed. The accommodating staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone, from the youngest to the oldest member of our group, felt comfortable and well taken care of. It's not often you find a place that caters to such a wide range of diners with such grace and attentiveness. All in all, my visit to Gourmet Curry Hut left an indelible mark on my taste buds and heart. If you're seeking an exceptional dining experience that blends exquisite cuisine with a warm family atmosphere, look no further. Highly recommended.

I recently celebrated a special occasion at this restaurant and it exceeded all my expectations. The attention to detail was impeccable, from the beautifully set table to the presentation of the food. Each dish was a work of art and tasted even better than it looked. The staff made me feel like a valued guest and went out of their way to make the evening unforgettable. I can't wait to return and make more memories.

Just all-round brilliant. Good thing we were early as soon after we were seated, a queue formed up outside. Super fast service with great tasting food. A large menu to choose from. Reasonable prices. Would definitely go again when in Melbourne.

I had such a delightful experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a date night. The menu had a great variety of options and the portions were generous. The chefs clearly have a passion for what they do, as every bite was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend giving this place a try!

The food here is delicious. Tonight we ordered mushroom risotto, Hawaiian pizza, Garlic pizza bread & Pepperoni pizza and everything was perfect. The chef/owner is always friendly and his food is spot on. We’ve dined in before aswell and it’s always a good atmosphere. So thank you for the delicious food & service. May your business continue to prosper 🙂

I found this place on my morning walk, and decided to try them for dinner. I had the meat thali, and it was perfect. Two meat curries, dal, raiti, rice (I am gluten free, but there would have been naan bread if I wanted it). Generous amount of food, well balanced and delicious. I went for medium, and it was a pleasant amount of heat. Next time, hot! Good value for money, tasty and fast. Staff polite and friendly, but let me enjoy my meal in peace. Great experience, I will return, because I have to try the goat curry.

Table for 3 on Wednesday this week (27/12). We chose 2 x meat thali, and 1 vegetarian thali to devour and we weren’t disappointed. The flavours in the food were amazing and the portion size was very generous. The lamb rogan josh and the butter chicken- wow, just wow. Definitely great value for money. The drink prices too were lower than what we were expecting for an inner city restaurant. The customer service skills provided by the two young ladies waiting on the tables was exceptional. Well done to both of you. Melbourne residents, do yourself a favour and drop in to the Gourmet Curry Hut for a meal. Great food, great prices, great service. We’ll definitely be back there on our next visit to Melbourne.

Me and my girlfriend went here this evening & we was absolutely taken back by the food, the quality and taste was unreal & the portion size was generous too! The buttermilk chicken was the best I’ve ever tasted. Staff were great too & to top it all of the bill was cheaper than I expected. Great food at a great price

Delicious vegetarian thali and friendly service. Nice and quiet down a small arcade. Out of the bustle for a while!
