Bright clean surroundings. The fare is mainly open face sandwiches. Tried the set 5 ones. Salmon, meatballs, roast beef, salami and potato. Nice variety and all very tasty. Tried the aquavit. Deliciously cold and nice complement to the food. Too full to try the deserts. Will go back for a Danish danish.

Great staff, in an airy modern restaurant setting. The open sandwiches are very filling and the 5 open sandwich option is excellent choice. Just let the chefs choose and you'll be happy as long as you understand the flavours you will be getting i.e. pickled and/or marinated fish etc. Parking could be an issue but there is a well priced Wilson parking building across the road from the restaurant, I got a 2hr metered street park just up the road a bit, so parking isn't really a problem.

Authentic Danish food prepared perfectly. The drinks list has all your favourite Danish beers and aquavit. Service attentive without being overbearing.

A lovely place and being a Dane who has not been home for four years, it was fun visiting this place and getting some almost perfect Danish food. Frikadeller, pork, open sandwiches and more... all tasted very good and were clearly freshly made. The decoration of the main room dining room could need a little facelift but the waiters did make up for this.

Clean, modern, airy Scandinavian style restaurant that excels in making open-faced gourmet sandwiches. Has a nice wine / drinks menu to pair with the food. Low-key efficient and friendly service. Highly recommend the selection of five random sandwiches. Note: it's a pretty invisible place from the street level bar small sign. Enter the Denmark House and take the lift to level 3.

A quite elegant and spacious place. The interior design was minimalistic but felt really nice. It's quite a romantic place too. The foods were really nice and the staff were friendly. You should definitely try the Danish national dish if you like a crispy pork belly. The desserts were pretty good too. Overall, it was a nice place and we had a pleasant experience there.

Lunch at @denmarkhouse from a few weeks ago: smørrebrød (Danish open faced sandwiches) is their speciality, and they have so many options! We definitely had a lot 😜😜. . Karrysild - Curry herring, eggs, onion and dill: you can't come to a Danish place and not have pickled herring 😜😜. The flavour was bold but delicious! . Oksetatar - Beef Tartare, egg cream, shallots and cornichon: super fresh tasting! . Komprimerede agueker - Compressed cucumbers with caraway and shallot smoked mayonnaise, toasted buckwheat and artichoke chip: very nicely done vegetarian smørrebrød with lots of yummy ingredients ☺️☺️. . Stegt kylling - Fried chicken Korean style, Gochujang sauce and yuzu daikon: a bit of fusion in terms of the taste but nevertheless it was absolutely delicious 🤤🤤. You just can't go wrong with Korean fried chicken 😜😜. . Stegt flæsk - Pan fried pork belly, pickled fennel: crispy pork belly - perfection! . Fiskefillet - Panko crumbed rockling fillet, remoulade and lemon: simple and tasty. . Hvidløg rejer - Pan seared prawns, pickled asparagus, confit garlic cream: these prawns were super juicy and succulent - really nicely done!

Excellent true Danish fair located on the 3rd floor of Denmark House in the middle of Melbourne city. A great little cosy place that has a small bar and dining room. Book in advance as lunchtime can get busy….

Took an actual Dane to this place and he loved it! Said it was very true to the country from the decor and layout to the food and drinks. It was my first time trying specifically danish food and I absolutely loved it! Staff were nice and very accommodating would definitely go here again 😊

The toppings you get on the smorrebords here are great, although i was quite unfamiliar with the bread served with it - rye beard which was an odd texture. I came here for dinner but it seems like this place serves more lunch food - not many main options.

I came here with my mum last week, as she is Danish. We enjoyed this space so much, it was divine. Food was great. The service from our waiter Oscar was outstanding. We will be back! 😄

If you miss Smørrebrød, a traditional Danish open-faced sandwich, this is the place to get your fix. Located in the same building with Denmark Consulate General, the resto will bring you back to Copenhagen. Food was great, as well as the service.

This was one of the top ten restaurant experiences of my life! I ordered the Smorrebrod platter with matching schnapps flight, with a side of fries and pickled cucumbers. The service was impeccable, the food incredible and I couldn’t resist a schnapps and dessert afterwards. Incredible! Prices are very reasonable - an equivalent meal in Copenhagen would be at least double the price (not to mention the airfare!). I just wish it was open more evenings and at least one weekend day.

Booked a table for lunch. Excellent Smørrebrød with a good choice of toppings and well priced! Beverage Menu was very good with lots of choice avaliable. Staff attentive and pleasant and the ambiance casual and relaxed. Will return next time we are in the City.

I am Danish but I’ve lived in Australia for many years. The food at Denmark house is outstanding and makes me feel like I am home again! Very high quality produce and completely true to traditional Danish smørrebrød! Lovely place to grab lunch🇩🇰

Super authentic and fantastic staff. Love this place. They do a great fun happy hour and food in the bar area or restaurant. I will definitely go back as I want to try out more of the menue.

Strongly recommend Denmark house! DANISH SMØRREBRØD (OPEN SANDWICHES) are all lovely creature made by the master chef. Classy atmosphere added with a tint of danish royal feeling. So lucky Melbourne could have this authentic danish restaurant. 💜💜🇩🇰🇩🇰

Felt like I got a bit of a Danish experience in the heart of Melbourne. Great place for a casual lunch!

This place is a gem! I had both the potato salad and the roast pork belly open faced sandwiches and they were delightful, with the presentation so good it pained me to eat them and spoil their beauty! The Danish pastries as well were outstanding, absolutely melt in the mouth!

I attended a private function here and could not have enjoyed myself more. Finger food was tasty, varied, fresh and healthy. Service was consistently attentive all night. The room was large enough for 70 people to not be squeezed at all. Danish history pieces and art were really interesting. I will go back as soon as possible to check out their regular menu. ❤️❤️❤️

This place serves the most amazing smørebrød, reminds me of Denmark! If you think toppings on rye bread sounds dry and boring, think again! The toppings range from traditional Danish salmon and herring to modern Korean chicken and juicy mushrooms. To top it off, the service is prompt and friendly, the space is roomy and comfortable, and the venue is suitable for large groups as well as babies and children. Denmark house simply ticks all the boxes!

Really great Scandinavian minimalism in design and the open sandwiches were great. I loved how bright the place was even in the dead of a Melburnian winter.

Great authentic Danish food. Very friendly staff

Food was delicious and artistic. I think the waiting staff could have explained the menu instead of leaving it to a party of 9 to figure out. None of us knew how big those sandwiches are going to be. Are they going to be enough for 6 feet country blokes, well built men, hungry caterpillars? How many do you recommend each person? Should we get a selection of 5 if we are doing Christmas work lunch?? Just missing the personalised service. Rest so really really good

Each sandwich was absolutely delicious with great fresh ingredients. I loved the more traditional Scandinavian offerings, and finishing with an amazing Danish pastry really nailed the experience. I'd recommend 2-3 sandwiches per person (5 per couple), which will give you a great selection of flavours as well. Not to mention the Aquavit was delicious (presented ice cold in a chilled glass to replicate the northern experience) and the drinks menu shows fantastic pairings to go with your food.

An absolute gem for relax lunch in an open space with delicious food! I really love the matching drinks and mini Smørrebrød.

The place was probably a bit too quiet for my liking but would be very food for conversations if you require some level of privacy. Food was delicious and surprisingly filling as I only ordered 2 pieces for myself.
