Ambience: 9/10 Food: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Italian vibes for ambience. Very nice place for a date. Service was great and food was promptly. Very good portion of pasta. Ordered 4 pasta but our favourite was the squid ink pasta and the salmon pasta. The rest was still alright. The squid ink pasta really did surpassed my expectations. You can taste the sweetness of the seafood! We also ordered the cured meats before our meal. Portion was good for 4pax. Comes with rockets, breadsticks, dried fruits, and cheeses help balance out the salt, while sour pickles help cut through all that fat. Would come here again for the squid ink pasta! Recommended pasta choice

The steak was fantastic, totally worth the price. The squid ink pasta was surprising for us. We were looking for the black sauce kind, so we were a little bit disappointed when we saw the sauce was not black. However, the pasta itself tasted fantastic. Also, the tiramisu was also extraordinary. Pouring the coffee and taste it, wow. With the friendly and professional waiter, who shows great passion with their own food, what a lovely dinner.

From beginning to end, I was impressed by the exceptional kindness and knowledge displayed by the staff. I particularly value the thoughtfulness in offering a selection of wines that complement the food perfectly, and the pricing is indeed reasonable. It's a place I would love to have the pleasure of revisiting with my parents."

ORDERED: 🧀 Insalata Caprese: Buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, basil ($24.00) 🥓 Carpaccio Arrosto: Roast beef carpaccio, procini mushroom, crispy polenta ($29.00) 🍝 Ravioli wagyu: ravioli filled with wagyu beef served with butter and rosemary sauce ($39.00) 🍝 Tagliolini al nero di seppia: black (squid ink) tagliolini with calamari ragu, fresh tomato and basil ($37.00) 🥧 Crostata alle Pere e Mandorle: Almond and pear tart with Amaretti biscuits and cream ($15.00) We spent $72.50pp here! REVIEW: Service was slow but the vibes were very nice. Da Guido actually originates up near Venice, with the chefs trained in Italy as well. It's an open kitchen and no matter where you're sitting in the restaurant, you can see the person who's making your meal. Making the connection was awesome. Up from already populated Lygon St, Da Guido adds a classy option to the Italian restaurant line-ups. Entrees were great. Buffalo mozzarella was soft, and so sweet and it was surprising that it didn't come with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar! But it didn't need it - it was perfect in its simplicity. Carpaccio was also interestingly wrapped up, instead of being spread out like I was used to. Also yummy and would order both if I were to come to Da Guido La Pasta again. From the mains, although the ravioli dish was more expensive, my friend and I liked the tagliolini Al nero di seppia more! Both the pasta dishes were perfectly al dente, with a satisfying bite to both. Ravioli was plain to me. This is making me wonder whether ravioli as a whole is the pasta for me, when this isn't the first time I've had this thought 🥺. Tagliolini al nero had the good parts of a seafood pasta. The iconic fresh ocean sweetness but the calamari ragu was heavy enough to pass as mince meat. So great! Disliked the dessert, although that's a personal preference. There were incredibly sour strawberry pieces (arguably to make the dessert more sweet) but it's the sour that makes me feel like pulling my face inwards. Left an aftertaste that made me question whether I really enjoyed my meal... so would definitely avoid. It's like cough medicine that's been soaked in that awful liquorice type flavour.

Easy to order as menu options are few. No specials of the day though which was a little disappointing.. unable to accommodate us inside which was a shame even though we had a booking.. Food was standard for Lygon street. Good attentive service.

If you want to have an authentic Italian dinner, this is the perfect place. The food is great, cocktails as well, the staff terrific. Despite they're quite young, they know perfectly what they are doing. You can feel and taste their passion and effort. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, with a chic touch. Looking forward to my next dinner there. I'd like to say a big grazie to Mirko and all the other guys that are part of the staff, because you guys are amazing.

Highly recommended! I found this place on Google and we decided to have a last minutes bookings on a Thursday night! The experience was exceptional, we had a 3 course menu and all of them was amazing. The service was really good… I think this would be one of the restaurants that have the best service ☺️☺️☺️ Definitely gonna go back !

They source excellent ingredients and the pasta dishes are always fresh. The staff are really friendly and the place has a great atmosphere. The menu is simple, but everything on it is always a high standard.

Da Guido La Pasta is authentic to the core. From true pasta recipes to Italy to the small detail of them using Milano glass (an Italian specialty) for their water glasses. I’ve been to Italy and I haven’t had pasta this amazing. You will not find better Italian than here.

Went there with some friends. The pasta was delicious. Very friendly and welcoming service. We had 3 different kind of pasta and just shared everything. The fagottini filled with spinach were our favorites! I definitely will go back and try the other dishes.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Da Guido La Pasta on Lygon Street in Carlton, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional culinary experience that left me craving more. From the moment I stepped into the cozy Italian eatery, I was greeted with warmth and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable evening. The first thing that struck me about Da Guido La Pasta was the impeccable service. The staff was not only friendly and attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to explain each dish in detail, making recommendations based on personal preferences, and ensuring a tailored dining experience. Their passion for the cuisine was evident, and it added a special touch to the overall ambiance. Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food! Da Guido La Pasta's commitment to authentic Italian flavors truly shines through in every dish. The menu boasts a variety of handmade pastas, and each one I tried was an absolute delight. From the silky-smooth tagliatelle with rich Bolognese sauce to the pillowy gnocchi topped with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese, every bite transported me to the heart of Italy. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation was remarkable, showcasing the chef's skill and dedication to their craft. One standout dish that I must highlight is the homemade ravioli stuffed with truffle-infused ricotta. The combination of the delicate pasta, creamy filling, and earthy truffle flavours was simply heavenly. It was a true testament to the quality of ingredients used at Da Guido La Pasta. The menu also features a selection of antipasti, salads, and mouthwatering desserts. I couldn't resist trying the caprese salad, which featured ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and fragrant basil leaves drizzled with balsamic glaze. It was a perfect light starter that complemented the main course beautifully. To complete the dining experience, I indulged in a heavenly tiramisu. Each spoonful was a symphony of flavours, with the perfect balance of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, luscious mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder. It was the ideal ending to an extraordinary meal. In addition to the outstanding food and service, the ambiance of Da Guido La Pasta deserves praise. The cozy interior, adorned with rustic Italian decor, creates an intimate and charming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're dining with friends, family, or a loved one, the restaurant provides a welcoming setting for any occasion. My experience at Da Guido La Pasta on Lygon Street was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I entered the restaurant to the last bite of tiramisu, I was treated to a culinary journey that celebrated the essence of Italian cuisine. The passion and dedication of the staff, the quality of the ingredients, and the overall ambiance combine to create a dining experience that will linger in my memory for years to come. I wholeheartedly recommend Da Guido La Pasta to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Carlton.

This Italian restaurant sits at the beginning of Lygon street next to the non-Italian strips of restaurants. I think it's one of the better ones compared to the other more well-established Italian restaurants in Little Italy. We ordered two different kinds of spaghetti, the pasta was Al dente and the sauces are so good! Bolognese seasoned nicely and the meat wasn't too heavy. The seafood sauce just had that hint of spaciness and the seafood tasted fresh. The Salumi Board was decent but nothing mind blowing. Service is friendly and food comes out pretty fast. Food - 9 Service - 9 Vibe - 8 Price - $$$

A very delightful dinner experience in the Lygon street. The host was warm and customer service was solid. We had excellent dishes (ask for their special scotch fillet carpaccio). Our three different types pasta was delicious (blue cheese gnocchi, beef ragu, and salmon pasta) and they made them in front of you (open kitchen). We highly recommend this place and will go back.

Grazie! So far one of the best Italian restaurant I’ve been in Melbourne. Nice and cozy atmosphere with a very friendly staff. I recommend to try an “Antipasto della casa” and a first dish to enjoy at the fullest the experience in “Da Guido”. Enjoy!

Probably the best Italian restaurant to go to for a special occasion in all of Lygon Street, and I'm saying that as someone who lives in Carlton and has tried most of the restaurants here. The price is fantastic for the quality and quantity of food and cocktails they offer, on top of the highly attentive service and gorgeous decor. Truly a gift that keeps on giving! Thank you for an incredible Valentine's day dinner! I'll definitely be back again!

A romantic dinner marked our farewell to the year 2023 in Melbourne Upon our arrival, my partner and I were set on ending the year with an Italian restaurant experience. Venturing into Melbourne without prior knowledge of any specific restaurant led us to an unexpected gem. This place astounded us entirely. The service was consistently excellent, incredibly warm, and Mirco was remarkably helpful. Encountering individuals who infuse such enthusiasm and maintain an outstanding attitude in their work is truly delightful. Having traveled to Rome and frequently dined in Italian eateries across Spain, I must sincerely attest that this restaurant embodies the essence of Italy. Their dishes are exquisite, showcasing the finest ingredients and an evident labor of love. Regarding the pricing, it's fair and doesn't exceed expectations, especially compared to Melbourne's usual standards. The ambiance is delightful, accompanied by an extensive selection of wines, beers, and dishes catering to diverse tastes and preferences. The pasta servings were just perfect, generously portioned to ensure satisfaction. Their homemade desserts were a highlight and left us thoroughly impressed. For anyone seeking a lunch or dinner spot in Melbourne, this restaurant guarantees a 100% success rate

Highly recommend - food and service here is exceptional. We went here last night for our anniversary. The food was fantastic and our waiter had great recommendations for dishes and wine. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere and we sat on the balcony which is a lovely spot on a nice night. To top off the night, when our dessert came out the waiter had organised for the plate to read ‘Happy anniversary’.

6 out of 5! One of the best traditional Italian restaurants I’ve been in Australia. I wish I could share how rich and tasty was everything (posting few pictures to have idea). Mirco is great at the front, always making sure that we were good. And Chef Martin is very passionate. Thanks guys for the amazing food, drinks and amazing customer service.

The waiter Roberto provided fantastic service with his warm charm and amazing knowledge on the pasta and wine. Compliments to the chef for the exquisite food that melted in my mouth. The homemade bread was warm, soft and delicious. The gnocchi and wagyu ravioli was the best I have ever tasted because of it’s perfect texture and flavour. I had the dark chocolate desert which paired with strawberries and honeycomb was absolutely fabulous! I bought a beautiful 2018 bottle of wine which was quickly devoured the following night. Thank you for a beautiful experience with the most delicious food. I will be back for more!

Beautiful and cozy restaurant. Really lovely atmosphere and good food. If you love spicy remember to try the Maccheroni alla Calabrese. The spicy taste is strong but not sharp. It blends so well with the sauce. Wanted to try the risotto but sadly it was only on the special menu. Will come again for it.

Very authentic Italian pasta. Too fat for my taste, 2 people 2 pasta 1 garlic bread, 1 cocktail and 1 still water for 105$. I wish the garlic bread was toasted. The margarita was good. The spaghetti is undercooked but tasted okay. The wagyu ravioli was alright , not very special.

Overpriced for what I thought was very ordinary service and food. We ordered a main calamari salad that was OK but not great for +$50. Took over an hour for our food to come out. I had the steak that was not seasoned and warm. Overpriced very ordinary food and service

Do yourself a favour and try the squid ink pasta if you haven't yet!! It is really special and exquisite. The mixed platter starter was also so yummy, there were many things on it like raisins and dried apricot and cheese and pickles, each bite is different and soooo fun. The restaurant gets busy fairly quickly I think so bookings are recommended. Otherwise good food, great atmosphere, don't be afraid to chat the owner for food and drink tips and have a great time!! Also the clean bathroom is a great plus!

Really enjoyable. Exemplary service from attentive and engaging waitstaff. The pasta dishes we enjoyed were perhaps a touch over Al Dente but I prefer that over overcooked pasta. Nothing worse. The seafood was very generous and wonderfully fresh. The truffle was fabulous. Good experience.

The carbonara was delicious, however the Wagyu ravioli that is very frequently mentioned in the reviews was not that great. The meat inside was very dry. The wine recommendation was a great pairing for the pasta. Staff were average, not super well trained. The cap rede salad was tasty but definitely not worth $24. We also asked for water on arrival (still not sparkling) and little did we know we were charged $7.50 for water. Make sure you ask for tap water if you don’t want to pay for table water. Total bill was $121 for two people.

I don't live in Melbourne but I'd move just for this restaurant. They give you complimentary bread which I'm pretty sure is house made. Need I say more? The waiters and waitresses are lovely and charming. Fillipo was a gem to my mum and I. The menu is diverse and traditional. Love love love. Definitely will be my first stop next time I go back to Melbourne

The environment is very nice, well organized, with pleasant decoration and candlelit tables. The music played was good, at a suitable volume. The food is very tasty. When ordering the dishes, the cheese was grated on the table, which was entertained. For dessert we had a tiramissu which was wonderful. There are many wine options in the restaurant for those who enjoy it. The service was surprising, very good, I was received by Valerio and attended by Roberto who, in addition to the good service, speaks my mother language. I really recomend this restaurant.

Pasta - Bellissimo! Steak - not so much. Cooked medium rare but was rather dry and bland. Received warm, attentive service from our waiter however our pastas took about 40 minutes to arrive despite the restaurant being very quiet on a Sunday night. Worth the wait though! Would definifely return to sample the other pastas on the menu.

Really great food and great service. Every dish tastes so nice. I’m so happy we come here for lunch. These wonderful food made my day. The price is a little bit higher than other restaurants, but it definitely worth it! A few more bucks, you will have a much higher level of enjoyment. If I ever want to have something good, I will come here.

The food was ok but the service was slow and the manager for Thursday night was rude. The manager will repeatedly ask you to to remove the plates and utensils yourself and was not attentive at all. Replying to the comment below: I did not rate for seating outdoor because of a busy night which I understand. I rated bad for the service. The manager was in no way trying to communicate with us. There was no language issue, we speak perfectly good English. If you are doing a business here, please never use language issue as an excuse. If language issue was really an issue, there are multiple ways to communicate to show your sincere and business attitude. Do not use language barrier as an excuse to show failed customer service. The manager came right to us with the food and asked us to move all the cutleries for him to put the food. We even had to rearrange the food ourself because it was served to the wrong person. We called multiple times for service such ordering food but no staff was attended because we were seated at the corner. We did not mention anything on the night because it was a busy night for you. But were expecting better services as we pay for the price.
