Inconsistently Genius We visited Cutler & Co for my wife's birthday - we had ordered the Chef's 5 course selection menu. Pros: The bread and chickpea butter was really good The salad was the best dish on the menu for us - very very refreshing and delicious. The palate cleanser (Goat's cheese sorbet with rhubarb) was amazing and could be a dish on the menu. The service staff were very inviting and friendly and the ambience was great. Cons: Inconsistent cooking. This was particularly true regarding the fish and the duck - unfortunately, my wife drew the short end of the stick as she got an overcooked and dry fish dish and an undercooked duck. Surprisingly, there was little acknowledgement, by way of an additional dish or cake, of a special occasion - when we have visited similar fine dining restaurants in Melbourne on special occasions we have always been treated with a special something from the chef. The only acknowledgement of my wife's birthday was a candle on the final course of the menu. For an upscale establishment that has been lauded for its special touches, we expected a little bit more. We understand that restaurants are getting back on their feet after a difficult period of stops and starts/changes due to the pandemic so perhaps the small issues we experienced were attributed to this. Overall, decent food and fantastic service but expected more for a $150 menu, especially when compared to previous fine dining experiences. Update: After I posted this review, Cutler and Co called me to apologise and discuss the feedback. They also offered me a refund for the dishes we weren’t happy about. Class.

Cutler & Co. remains one of Melbourne’s best. The service is exceptional, highly knowledgeable staff about every aspect of the menu and wine list. Super delicious food offerings. All delivered is one of the sexiest interiors for dining. I cannot wait to dine there again!

The modern and inviting ambiance at Cutler & Co quickly assured us of great things to come. Service was first class from the moment we entered the door and our exceptional waitress was kind, helpful and attentive throughout the night. The menu was prepared with a masters touch, from the striking plating to the various well balanced flavours in each and every dish we tasted. Our oysters were freshly served, the seafood was delicately prepared and the meat was treated with the utmost respect. Cutler & Co thoughtfully represents well executed fine-dining at its best. Comfortable, flavourful and memorable. Thank you for an unforgettable night out!

If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, Cutler & Co is a great option. The lamb loin was a bit salty for my taste but had great flavor. The Murray cod was my favorite dish - it was cooked perfectly. The service was wonderful and the chocolate delice for dessert was delicious. Keep in mind that the prices are on the higher end, but the food and environment are both top-notch.

A friend of mine came here on Sunday and had a wonderful time and highly recommended me here but unfortunately I have been left quite disappointed. The waiters paid no attention to my table and provided no sort of care to my needs and the ambience was ice cold. I found it incomprehensible that two appetizers were served before I had even picked my wine, was my waiter in a hurry to go home? The waiters had the time to go to all other tables so why didn’t they come and check with me was the pace alright? Or are they just assuming I am alright? If you are Asian, avoid at all costs. They never responded to my ‘thanks you’ whenever they served the food. However, the foods are brilliant and amazing even no any deluxe ingredients but the service and ambience let the price down a bit.

They finally opened for lunch over December and had to try it. Was expecting an amazing meal but was a bit disappointed overall with no stand out dish. Glad I tried it but big strong in flavours unfortunately.

Cutler & Co. is without a doubt one of the top favourite restaurants in Melbourne, and it's easy to see why. After dining here, it's clear why they have earned their well-deserved Michelin stars. From the moment my partner and I stepped foot in the door, we were captivated by the romantic atmosphere. The dim candlelit lighting and stunning chandeliers create an ambiance that is simply magical. The exceptional service at Cutler & Co. is nothing short of impressive. The highly knowledgeable staff left no detail of the menu or wine list unexplained. Their expertise truly enhances the dining experience. As for the food, it can only be described as super delicious. The dishes we ate were bursting with flavor and expertly crafted to offer a delicate balance of tastes. We had the pleasure to visit Cutler & Co. during a special occasion, and it was a decision we will never regret. The host and waitstaff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, creating an inviting and warm atmosphere. In conclusion, I highly recommend Cutler & Co. for anyone looking to celebrate a special or romantic occasion. The combination of impeccable service, phenomenal food, and beautiful ambiance make it a dining experience that stands out from the rest. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable evening at this Melbourne gem.

We actually picked this place because we wanted to go to The Elysian Whisky Bar, which is around the corner. When you walk on, you could smell the food, because the kitchen is in the front. The seating is actually in the back. It’s a great place for a date. The setting at night is dim and ambience is lively. The service was excellent and so was the food. Great fine dining experience in Melbourne!

I had been wanting to go to Cutler & Co for a very long time, and I must say it unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. The food from the lunch menu was good but not worth the 95$pp. It was nice, but not what you expect when you go to a fine dining restaurant. I had wine by the glass ($19) and it wasn’t very good either. I was a bit disappointed because I had been wanting to go to Cutler & Co for such a long time, and the reality wasn’t what I expected. My partner and I came to celebrate our anniversary. The staff knew about it and congratulated us, but it would’ve been nice to have been surprised with a candle or something small for dessert. Sometimes in the small details you find big differences. Aside from that, the service was good.

Excellent service that is up there with the best. Huge selection of wines. They can cater for dietary requirements and surprised to see some really nice vegetarian options as well. Only feedback would be that the portions could have been a bit more as not everything will have a 3 course lunch. Not sure why a dessert chocolate tart had to be halved!!!

Great service and good food. I can see why this place remains so popular year after year. Huge seating available but I still recommend booking (doh!). Wine selection is ok, probably a bit expensive for the slightly better bottles. Bread was course was delicious and the marron was cooked to perfection. The Wagyu beef cheek was again, cook evenly to perfection, melts in your mouth. Not 100% sure about some of the sauces used on some dishes but it was delicious nonetheless!

Cutler & Co offers a memorable dining experience, particularly distinguished on occasions such as Valentine’s Day. The restaurant sets the scene with a dedicated room adorned with candlelit tables, creating an intimate atmosphere that’s ideal for romantic celebrations. This year’s Valentine’s Day menu was a delight, catering to various dietary preferences. For those seeking pescatarian options, the kitchen demonstrated flexibility by substituting steak and duck for prawns and fish, showcasing their commitment to accommodating guests’ dietary needs. Although there was a minor hiccup with one of the prawns not being cleaned properly, the staff promptly addressed the issue by replacing the dish. This attentiveness extended to the children’s menu as well, with the staff offering a complimentary fish and chips when the kids’ pasta did not meet the little diner’s taste. Furthermore, when a mocktail did not meet expectations, they graciously replaced it with a complimentary drink that offered an innovative take on red wine, which was highly appreciated. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the chocolate dessert, described as both delicious and light, leaving a lasting impression. What truly set Cutler & Co apart, however, was the exemplary service. The staff were universally warm and welcoming, with special commendation for Liam, who was particularly outstanding in his role. His professionalism and attention to detail enhanced the dining experience, making it even more special. Overall, Cutler & Co excels in delivering high-quality food and exceptional service, ensuring a dining experience that is not only enjoyable but also memorable. The restaurant’s ability to adapt to their guests’ needs, combined with their warm hospitality, makes it a top choice for special occasions or simply a lovely night out.

Wow! What can I say. Cutler & Co exceeded my expectations. Generally I'm quite averse to expensive restaurants as I find that they're never as good as I imagine. However Cutler & Co really delivers and makes it feel like you're getting your money's worth. The service is fantastic. The wait staff were attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere was sublime - perfect for a date night. Finally, the food was delicious! Highly recommended for a special night out or if you're a foodie looking for your next adventure.

It was a lovely Sunday lunch. Entrée was generous. Mussels, salad, roasted artichoke and roasted baby carrots to share. Good allowances for vegans too. The crunchy accompaniment to the carrots was an incredible texture to go with the smooth creaminess of the sauces. Main was a beluga lentil cake with miso and pumpkin. Perfect taste sensations between them. Dessert was a quince with coconut cream, lemon sorbet and flaked almonds. Had a coffee that was good, but for Melbourne, average. Wine pairs, chosen well by the team. Service was friendly and helpful. High quality.

Was fortunate enough to dine here last week and everything was impeccable from the food to the service, it was all first class. Each course was well presented, we had the King George whiting, winter salad, duck and suckling pig with matched wines, all were well balanced and cooked to perfection, even the bread was amazing. The dining room had a nice cosy and intimate feel and the wet winter night we went added to the ambience. Service was very attentive and warm, would definitely be back.

The experince of being at Cutler & Co is one of those that should be counted towards the ultimate date night or with someone you want to share something special with. We started our night with pallete cleansing mini bruchetta type cracker with tomato and herb mix bites. Then followed our bread accompanied by butter that can only be described as handmade love in the flavours of hinted with cheese and the other piece with salt (little scoops shaped like ice cream) . When our mains arrived it looked very basic and pretty. HOWEVER; Once you tap into a bite a world of flavour opens up . The chefs REALLY know every single flavour profile they own and use it with precision. The head waitress who seated us was amazing, ever so observant and kind checked up on us just enough for it to be caring and leave us enough for it to be private. Our waitresses Amy's wine recommendations ( Valiente - 2014 heathcote shiraz ) was so on point with our meal i don't think i could have picked better options or people to serve us . The deserts we had are a must try within their own league. The passion fruit vanilla bean ice cream that sat om ice in the passionfruit cups might look pretentious however is ANYTHING but. The first bites make the vanilla presence known in symphony with the sorbet. And you keep digging away in disbelief of how yummy ice cream could really be. I do wish the portion was bigger though ?. The second dessert with alpine strawberries is something else. I have never had strawberries melt in my mouth before without effort & being cooked. That is accompanied by the strawberry glaze and sorbet which all sits on a cake. Lastly the crown jewel of Cutler & co is the chocolate cake. This cake is so rich , so engaging , it swirls around your mouth with the slightly bitter choc bits and ever so sweet mousse. The chocolate is pure and refined to exclude anything else taking over. This is what i would call a masterpiece. And because it wasn't enough , we were given complimentary alpine strawberries with chocolate glaze filled with the nicest juicy centre dome type confectionery. Right from the moment we walked in the door and one of the chefs said hello to the last moment where Amy bid us a good night, we were looked after. Actually looked after. We've decided to make this place part of our monthly dining choice because the experince is unlike anything.

The dining experience was great, the food was delicious. I loved the glassed prawn and the duck. The staff was very attentive, they folded your napkin every time you left the table. In comparison, the restroom cleanliness wasn’t up to standard.

Just finished a really great meal here. The food was delicious from start to finish. The wine was excellent. What really made the meal great though were our servers Antoine and Anthony. They went out of their way to advise us about food and drinks at the restaurant but even more spent time advising us on where to go here and in Tasmania. They made the meal truly spectacular and made us feel special. Can't recommend Cutler and Co. high enough.

One of my top favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Very deserving of its Michelin stars! My partner and I loved the dishes we ate here- full of flavour and very delicate. The atmosphere here is also very romantic, dim candle lit lighting surrounded by beautiful chandeliers.

We treated our newly wedded friends to dinner here. Memorable dining experience for the 5 of us! My fish dish was delicious- as were the other dishes our table ordered- the kipfler potatoes still mouth watering from memory ? child friendly at Cutler & Co- our 3 year old was warmly welcomed. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our dinner here, and to our credit we were happy that the food overall tasted good (except for the cringe-worthy shrimp), especially our main(the duck) it was very tender and served with a raspberry sauce that made it very refreshing. We were also pleased with the drinks, we were recommended a very good shariz red indeed. On the other hand, unfortunately the service was disappointing, not only did it take a long time for our plates to be cleared, the water service also not good, we ordered a bottle of sparkling water and it took a long time for it to be served, we been waiting for the water for a while and no one came to us at the beginning. Also the cutlery seems unrefined. Furthermore in the dinning room although there were a lot of waiters in our area they all seemed to be very busy, and we were immersed in a hectic atmosphere which is not comfortable for us. However we are grateful to the kind bar staff let us switch spots for better experiences. I would recommend you this restaurant but only as a restaurant. Not a hat restaurant (tho we still can not be sure if this is a hat restaurant).

Lovely place with wonderful attentive staff. They always check in, takes time to explain and were amazing. However the food is just okay, we spent over $500 for two people and the food was nothing to be excited about. Food wasn’t bad at all but doesn’t justify the price tag. I found the dishes to be boring and just blah to be honest.

I think this establishment has accidentally crossed the line into overly pretentious territory, rather than inviting and sophisticated. Our waitress was not responsive to our dietary requirements (somehow mixing up pork and beef), which led to a confusing and indeed awkward interaction. It impacted every one of our interactions afterwards as well. We got the selection menu, which had a good set of dishes to choose from - however, again, the waitress made it much harder to understand than it actually was. She struggled to explain the process, and which ones came automatically with the menu, and which you could choose from. We were also sat at a terrible spot, and the atmosphere is the furthest thing from warm and inviting. We asked to be moved to a different spot, if possible, as there were multiple tables free that were away from foot traffic and the cash register, and we had requested upon booking that we were put in a good spot for a special occasion. Whilst I understand that special requests cannot always be accommodated to, the waitress’ reasoning was “well, people book months in advance for this place so they get a better spot”, which was almost funny, if it weren’t the fact that we were one of those people who had booked months in advance. It’d be hard to think that those who came in later than us and got a better seat were also ones who went out of their way to request a nice spot - they presumably just got lucky. I can only assume that the waitress’ answer was also not the correct way to respond to a request to move tables. As you can see in one of the photos, the candle on our table was on its last legs, spilling wax every two seconds which was just not pleasant to be around. This was worsened by the fact that everyone around us had a fresh candle stick, and ours was the only one struggling and making a mess. It was only when dessert came around that a kind waiter came and changed it. The food is not half-bad here, but it doesn’t matter when the service is lacking, your waitress is not knowledgeable, and the ambience has failed to make you feel welcomed. There’s a weird sense of displacement that you’ll feel here, and you’ll also find that you will be heavily surveilled throughout each meal and your conversations will be eavesdropped on by every passing waiter/waitress. You can physically feel yourself being watched. Whilst I appreciate attentive waitstaff, this place takes it to a borderline creepy level. To the point where I would say to my partner that I’d need to use the restroom, for someone to spring out of nowhere and tell me they can escort me to the bathroom. Whilst that was the friendliest interaction I had that night, I would rather my conversations remain private between myself and the other party, and if I wanted help - I would ask for it. It also ran it home that we were in an awful spot, right in the middle of both customer and waitstaff traffic, where there wasn’t a moment someone was walking past. Whilst I don’t have a problem with the taste of the food, it was a bunch of little things that accumulated and caused a negative impact on the experience. And when you pay upwards of $200 per person (food and drinks included), you’d hope that means absolutely every element (not just the food, but the service and atmosphere) will be worth that price. I would actually like to go back and see what the experience might be like with a different mindset, and probably a different waitstaff member - to see if the potential I’m seeing in a lot of 5-star reviews can be fulfilled - and perhaps I just came on a bad day. I would still recommend trying some of the food here, and the other reviews give me hope that I just got the short end of the stick when I went. I can only hope that the quality of the dishes is not overshadowed by a lack of customer service or strangely pretentious atmosphere if I choose to come here again.

Had the best time here yesterday, celebrating my partner's birthday! Food was stunning and all the wait staff were amazing. They even tried to take some photos for me discreetly when I popped "the question" to my partner 😂 so cute! They definitely helped make it a night to remember!

Great dinning experience with exceptional service, delectable food, and an inviting atmosphere. But the true star of the evening was undoubtedly their Charcoal Rib Eye. Cooked to perfection, each bite was a revelation of flavor and tenderness. The staff's attentiveness and the restaurant's ambiance added layers of delight to an already fantastic dining experience. We will definitely be returning for a second visit.

4 course menu. You get a selection, and little ‘palette cleansers’, as the staff called them, throughout. For me: prawns, trout, duck and raspberry. For mum: prawns, asparagus crab zucchini flowers, duck, and chocolate. Potatoes on the side. The food was thoughtful. But not pretentious and stupidly small. It was smart, clean, but an interesting menu. I enjoyed it. Thoroughly. Expectations were exceeded. A French Chablis. Half Bottle. It was an adventure in a sip. Acidic, sweet, then fruity…. The wine settled with the food. Marriage- making fastidious love on my tastebuds. The service was attentive and warm. I felt like i was in a living room, although an eloquent one at that.

The atmosphere is exceptional. Staff is very detailed but it’s a bit over service as my friend and I was interrupted many times from our conversation. Food is average. Nothing really impressed me unfortunately.

My husband and I held our intimate wedding dinner in Cutler & Co's private dining area and we couldn't have been happier. Margaux was extremely helpful and patient with all of my little changes leading up to the wedding day and I couldn't have felt happier with how everything turned out. The food was excellent and our guests were more than impressed. The service was impeccable and the room just looked STUNNING - I think my jaw dropped when I saw it. But most of all, we had the most amazing day of our lives. Thank you to the Cutler & Co team for making our day so very special!!

Exquisite service at Cutler & Co. Food was of an exceptional standard. Beautiful warm bread with miso butter to start. I loved the heirloom tomatoes. We chose the Steak add on which is a bit expensive when you’re already paying $130 for the meal but it was quite good. The cod was delicate with the perfect sauce. Dessert was flawless way to finish the meal!

  • 4/5 Jason H. 9 months ago on Google
The service was really good and the ambience was exceptional. The lighting of the restaurant was beautiful. The way the flavours of each course were built on the last was well executed. The palette cleanser was velvety smooth and the dry aged duck had perfect texture. I thought the dessert (chocolate cake) was a bit of a let down compared to everything that had come before it. It just was too simple and plain, especially at the price point.

A classy, delicious, and remarkably well-priced stalwart of Melbourne fine dining. Always a pleasure to visit Cutler and Co, my favourite is to be seated in the leather booths in the middle of the restaurant and enjoy some excellent cocktails with dinner. Very happy to be back after the most recent lockdown. 5 stars.

Came here on a Thursday night with family and ordered the 3 course meal $95pp. While the service was great (though they did charge us Sunday surcharge by accident which I think was a let down as some people might not look at the bill properly), not all the food were up to standard. Particularly the bass was a bit too salty in my opinion, the chocolate delice was good but not innovative. The quince was interesting but the taste was average. The fact the added candles on the chocolate delice for birthdays free of charge was a nice touch. Overall was a good meal & everyone left happy.

Went to the place for my friend's birthda on 26th June, the tuna dish and dessert were really good. However, they missed our second course and staff was inexperienced as no one has noticed the problem until we raised it with maître d'hôtel. The second course(supoosed to be 3rd) we had, was seared cod dish which should be soft and delicate. But it was hard and dry like snapper, i would assume it stayed under heat lamp for too long when they recognised that they messed up. But for a 3 hats restaurant, dish like like should not be served to customers(potential no checking at the food passing?). It can't be justified as things like this happened in a three hats restaurant. But should give a big thumb up to the MD, she tried her best to rectify the issue. One star for the entrée and dessert, one star for the MD.

We did the four course menu and wine pairing and left very satisfied. Both the food and staff were fantastic. When we mistook the palate cleanser for the dessert and finished our wine, they were kind enough to refill our wines to enjoy with the actual dessert. Look forward to getting back for another meal.

A very great experience to celebrate your special/romantic occasion. The host was very welcoming and friendly, as well as the waitstaff. I went there for a Valentine’s Day set menu and ordered selection of somelier wine. Food were incredibly amazing and the somelier was very informative about their products. Everything was perfect except for the lighting, personally it was too dark and could be just a little bit brighter to have better pictures. Overall, very recommended and would love to come back for another special occasion!

Lovely experience with Cutler & Co. We celebrated our anniversary here - great environment, decent food, attentive service. I love how they use seasonal ingredients here, respectful and mindful of the nature. Win pairing provided lots of European wine selection, that’s good. My lamb loin I would say a bit undercooked, almost hard to chew. One thing I would suggest for improvement is that I’ve mentioned the special occasion is an anniversary while booking. However this was not addressed at all during the night, i would expect some more care to the customer - maybe mention it at greeting, or mint of special care like a text on our dessert plate? Hope you can consider about it. I would still recommend especially for a romantic dinner out :p

I’ve had a wonderful night celebrating our anniversary here. The food and service were perfect, will definitely come back and recommend to friends. Again, the Gundagai lamb loin was just extraordinary. For our anniversary, picking a nice restaurant is obviously important, I’m a foodie and very picky eater, the food there has had made my day as I know if I paid for service, the food can be average sometimes. Even now when I recall the night, I can still remember the taste of the lamb loin and desserts. Oh not to mention the butter, yum🤤 ! We had a blast, thank you.

My wife and I celebrated my birthday here. It is a nice set menu resturant with some complimantry food at the begining and welcoming. On top the 4 course menu there are some other food which you can add to it. We got the steak which was huge and more than enough for 2. The food was very well presneted and was amazingly delicious. The smoked eel was amazing and had a nice balancr with peas, green sauce and the shallots, The tomato salad had amazing flavot although it was simple, but the combination of falavours was very good. Then steak arrived, a huge giant ribeye dry aged steak. It was cooked to perfection and what we asked for. Taste was really good and it came with 1 sauce, horseradish paste and dijon mustard. We got pairing calssic wine which was quite generous and well paired with each portion except the desert wine which both of us didn't like it. They have very nice selection of luxury wines. Overal it was great night

Opened for 10 years, a year after Cumulus Inc now. A mission to offer top end dining, yet you feel relaxed without feeling out of place if you’ve dressed up or down. As you approach Gertrude St of Fitzroy, you see casual dining table and chairs outside, that day was filled with many people unwinding for a drink after work. High ceilings and large windows made us feel very welcomed, and right at the door was someone ready to help me with my reservation. Complimentary dish as a appetiser, lightly fried tomato based crackers with delicious salsa. Bread also came as complimentary, they came out warm, and as we tore the bread apart in quarters, we saw the steam come out. The bread was delicious with the umami butter, the other salted butter was a little too salty for me. I enjoyed the umami butter, it had a sweet aftertaste. Cutler & Co was so generous with bread and butter, when they offered us seconds they gave us new quenelle butter. We ordered the Yellowfin tuna crudo, Tasmanian wasabi, finger lime & celery, $34, it was very fresh with very little flavouring. The dish looks small below, but that’s because they plated in two for our convenience. Love it when restaurants do this for us. Not only is it prettier than us grabbing off each other’s plates, but it’s not as messy. J could taste the wasabi flavour from his dish, but I couldn’t. I could taste the celery more in the dish. J preferred this entree, whereas I enjoyed the Asparagus and Pistachio Entree. Jonella farm asparagus, pistachio, egg yolk, black garlic & rye $32 A vegetarian dish, but I enjoyed the black garlic addition bringing a stronger tastes than just veggies. The finely sliced asparagus were crunchy, never had asparagus like this before. Crispy pistachio in fine bits and pistachio puree were really good to dip the asparagus with. The egg yolk was thick and I just mixed it with the puree. For mains we ordered the O’Conner Rib Eye of 1.1 kg, with house made mustard, shaved cabbage and fennel salad, $180. We were advised upon ordering that it would take 1 hour to prepare and checked if that was OK with us. We thought we were fine, we were very hungry at 6.30pm and could take our time… but I think we had a lot of bread and two entrees got us half full… My first bite of the rib eye was quite chewy. But after my next piece it was fine. I think it depends on which part I pick. Lightly grilled on the outer and blue to medium rare inside. It’s not very common we eat blue. We weren’t asked how we want our meat cooked, so if you can’t take blue meat, i’d suggest to speak with the waiter first. My favourite sauce to dip was the yellow mustard. Sour enough to keep me going with the enormous amount of meat we ordered. Shaved cabbage and fennel salad were great, I couldn’t have any more of the meat, but I could continue bit by bit with the salad. Finely shaved and easy to eat. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it to dessert. There were two other desserts we wanted to try but just didn’t have any more room for it. The waiter mentioned we can have dessert next time at the front of restaurant if we don’t want to have the full dining experience. Service was brilliant, ambience was very warming, both of us had a great time. I’m still longing for the desserts I couldn’t get to try. So I’ll definitely revisit just to be completely content.

The ambience in this place is stunning, great for a romantic dinner or special occasion - not pretentious at all and although it was high end there is a casual vibe to it. Service was amazing, we felt taken care of the entire time. The food was delicious, each dish was refreshing with the perfect balance of flavours. My only criticism is that the duck came out not as tender as I was hoping - but still delicious.

Nice but very limited menu... mostly white meat... good wine list and great service.

We had an amazing night there, everything was perfect, other than the fact that they asked me 3 times if I'd order some ice cream for my 3yo when I already said no. Every dish was perfect cooked and presented. The highlight for me was the autumn salad. The price is fine for the quality. We'd rather pay 150pp for something that surprise our palate than 100pp for something ordinary.

Had a great experience here. Excellent food but even better service from the second-in-command sommelier who was doubling up as a waiter. Really knew her stuff and gave some excellent suggestions to us. Would definitely revisit

As a big fan of McConnell venues, I can definitely understand why Cutler & Co. is the flagship. Beautiful venue, perfect food and amazing service provided by the staff. We loved a long Sunday lunch and hope to be back again quicker than it’s taken us to getting around to our first time.

(Translated by Google) The ratings do not cheat and this is another gem on the city map. Service and food are top notch. Prices are much higher than average, but you won't be here every day. Mandatory reservation. As a result: a gastronomic miracle!

Have just enjoyed (complete understatement!) one of your At Home Menus. Roast and marinated globe artichoke to start, Game bird pie, salt baked beetroot and Collard Greens as a main, And Crème Caramel desert. Wow! Just fantastic! Superb flavours, perfectly seasoned... I really couldn’t recommend these guys highly enough. So impressed! Thanks for bringing a ray of culinary sunshine to another wise glum Melbourne lockdown!! Will definitely be trying another menu soon...

Usually cannot complain about the food or service here. Have been 3 times but this is the first time since the reno. Everything is usually always on point. The duck on the tasting menu did have stringy and chewy bits this time and did seem a tad under cooked... Service was impeccable as usual and everything else was brilliant (pork belly outstanding!). All in all still a great experience.

I really enjoyed our experience at Cutler and Co. Great ambience and our server and sommelier were down to earth friendly people. With the exception of the starters, I thought the food was creative and well thought out. Would definitely recommend opting in for the chefs selection menu and the non alcoholic pairings. Something that I always look forward to with a degustation is the bread and butter that is served. Cutler and Co did not disappoint with freshly baked bread with a crispy shell and fluffy interior served with two kinds of butter. Delicious!

Visited on the 27th Dec and sat in the area at the back of the restaurant. Ordered a la carte. Food was delicious and the service excellent. Particularly enjoyed a 'taste off' between Tas and Vic oysters and our sommelier whose knowledge and recommendations of local wines was superb.

Top class food here. Food look deceptively simple, but had depth of flavor once I bite it. Its amazing foods in melbourne. Everything tasted like it was done on perfection. Love the King George Whiting the most. The Muscovy Duck also very pleasurable to eat. Smashing. Lovely and comforting ambience.

God ambience and vibes. Service staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food is a mixture of great and unimpressive through. We ordered the chicken dish for the main course (although I am still confused as to what we were supposed to get as part of this fixed menu) which was extremely salty. There were also a couple of other things mentioned on the menu which we never received and were in fact told by the waiter that there are no more dishes coming in. They really should look into how they can clarify what is included in the menu and perhaps educate the customers a bit on how to navigate their menu. Oh and the chicken dish is really bad but the entree was quite good so.........

Prior to your book you are going to receive an email confirmation from them. It's very important to get acknowledge to ensure I'm booked in. Once you enter you will be greeted with friendly staff. I received smile as I was walking pass the kitchen and bar towards my table. It was a table for 2 with candle light, how romantic! They have a very comprehensive wine list and sommelier to assist you if you want. We weren't approached by a sommelier, maybe because we have already order drink before the sommelier had a chance to attend to us. They have a very simple a la cart menu. You can either choose to let the restaurant pick the food for you with a sample of 3 entree, couple of main, dessert and matching wine option. Or you can pick from the a la cart menu. Overall, I had a great experience with my companion in Cutler & Co. Would recommended for any couple wanting to spend quality time in a fine dinning environment. The session I book in had a 2.5hr limit, so plan well to suit your requirement. Lastly, there is a 1.1kg ribeye on the menu, but it takes 1hr to prepare, so when you make a booking, ask them whether there is any food which require such a waiting time. Enjoy!

A bit of a disappointing visit. We were visiting from Sydney and I’d long wanted to eat at this well regarded restaurant. The food was certainly very good but my overall experience was far from great. There was a constant stream of people passing through the restaurant from the adjoining room hosting a private (loud) function (I assume to go outside to smoke), along with a crying baby in the restaurant and being seated next to a table of 3 under 6 year old children happily playing. Our booking was at 8:45 and for a restaurant where you can easily spend in excess of $250 per person this was not the atmosphere I was expecting. No doubt others might not find this an issue but I would not return.

Fantastic service and food. We got a voucher from some close friends to go to the Sunday lunch with wine pairing. Every course was fresh and flavorful. The one that stuck with me most was the rosbif which was perfectly cooked and had this indescribable eggplant puree. The servers were super attentive and kept making sure we weren't needing anything. Have been here in the evenings before and it's definitely a lot more formal for dinner. However, the vibe for Sunday lunch was more relaxed and casual without sacrificing the upscale charm.
