Food is generous and plentiful. Very accommodating. Staff went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Very authentic Chinese food in well spaced out restaurant. They also have a number of favorite Chinese menu items. Will make a return :) Recommended to everyone!!!

They are so stingy with giving the main dish like rice, such a small bowl of rice is really an insult. I told them normally this will at least cost us 10 dollars for just the rice for 2 people. And ask them whether they can give a bigger bowl. The waiters told me they are okay with us giving bad reviews. Also there is another couple behind me getting a take away with half box of the rice, and they threw half of it because it is too much, I don't really understand the double standard they give. So there you go with the review.

Had an amazing feast at this spot last Friday! Very authentic Hunan dishes PLUS a wide selection of alcohol!! Lychee cider, beer and wine, you name it. Love the Dong Ting Lamb Chop (that crisp skin’s chef kiss!), Pork Belly w/ preserved veggie and the JUMBO size siu mai. Generous serving and delish (dishes can go really spicy upon requests!).

I think this restaurant is very under estimated. The dishes tasted great. The salted egg prawn was well made, the prawn shells are deep fried and crispy, coated with delicious sauce. Good price on Elizabeth st.

Been to this place heaps of times and they never let me down. Authentic food from Hunan province and attentive service make me feel like home. Some dishes are spicy and hot so watch out (!) but they do have non-spicy ones and those are great too. They provide delivery service during this lockdown period too - great set menu at fair price!

The food here tastes good. The steamed silver perch was delicious. The service is also friendly and the restaurant has a modern cafe feel to it. The reason why it's only ok though is the value. Dishes are quite expensive when compared to the portion size. Between 4 ppl we ordered 3 mains with 3 rice, came up to $80 and everyone was still hungry afterwards.

A nice semi casual Chinese restaurant focused on Hunan cuisine. We enjoyed the main dishes, especially the fish which was soft and lightly seasoned. The soup didn’t seem very fresh at all. The service could be quicker but staff were friendly. Overall worth a try if in the area.

Wowee. Some really amazing food. The noodles with the sliced beef, egg, pickled beans and peanuts were delicious and the noodles were perfectly chewy and soaked up the sauce to make them unbelievable and left you wanting more after each mouthful. The steamed egg with lobster was so light and fluffy it really was a taste sensation and is a must when you come here. By far the standout though is the pork belly bao buns. The pork belly melts in your mouth and the flavour of the pork explodes in your mouth. The bao buns are so light and fluffy it was like biting into a cloud. The braised pork belly was slightly overcooked with the pork coming through a bit dry but the "fatty" part was tender and tasty. While the service is a bit hit and miss the food does speak for itself and is certainly worth the visit. I'll be back next time I go the the cbd. Been here a few more times. This place is amazing. The beef brisket with potatoes is so tender and flavoursome, and the pork wontons in Chili oil are out of this world.

Try their century egg with eggplant or chilli. Mix it with white rice and boom! If you can’t take spicy, just request.

The food was delicious, but I had to ask for it to be made less spicy. The staff, especially the lady, was really kind. I will definitely come back!

Popped in here for a quick and easy meal. The staff recommended noodles which were amazing. Soft and the noodles soaked the sauce up, making them extra succulent. Be sure to grab the pork belly with the buns or you'll regret it if the adjacent table gobbles it down next to you. I hope this restaurant kicks off... Some nice dishes on offer here!

I caught my PB Snapper from Port Phillip Bay at 6.4kg. What better way to eat it than have it prepared by a professional chef, Hunan style at Dong Ting!? We spoke to the owner who said they would happily cook it for us. When we arrived I handed over the fish and we sat drinking cold beers while magic happened in the kitchen. It was a big fish so the chef prepared it three ways: 1. Hong Shao fish 2. Steamed with chili sauce 3. Tofu fish hot pot All were absolutely delicious! Also, I highly recommend the chili beef jerky (not sure the proper name for that dish) and the lobster tail was beautifully prepared. The staff and the venue vibe were great and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening! If you’re looking for authentic contemporary Hunan style Chinese food, I definitely recommend.

Their taste is authentic! So good, would definitely come back here again next time. We all agree that the braised pork trotter with stinky tofu tofu alone deserves 5 stars for its flavour and price.Steamed Silver Carp in Chilli Sauce l favorite too.Highly recommended!

Great food and services. This is the most authentic spicy hunan style dishes I had in Melbourne. The fish is tender and fresh. The stir fry vegetables is made in a way of authentic homemade cooking. Cannot praise more for the flavour of the food here. Strongly recommended this!

Amazing authentic Hunan (China) cuisine. Don’t underestimate the humble front in comparison to the flashy neighbours along Elizabeth St. If spice is your thing, you’re in luck. You’re literally going to spice town with this place. If this is your first time, brace yourself for a complex layers weaved into a one gastromical orchestra in each bite. With the current economy, the portions are pretty worth it by the buck!

With the unique stater of spiced snail, crunching fish Skin and tangerine chicken wings, I knew that I would have feasts tonight. Indeed, this entree perfectly matches Little fish Rice town's special Shangri-La craft beer.🍺Steam Pork Belly, Special Lotus Root Meatball, White Radish and Goat Strew, and Hunan Style Green Chill Pork Fried Rice are what we called the fantastic 4 main courses. These amazing main dishes were agreeably surprised by melting smoothly with the floral red wine. 🍷🥃 🍲🥘🍖🥬🥕🌶🌽🥦🥒🍓🍇🍑🍒🍾 The must-try White Radish and Goat Strew broth are perhaps the best paired with Whisky. No wonder the Asian ladies and gentlemen looks younger as they are often benefit greatly from the soup and stew broth at an early age.🎉🎂🎁🙌🥳🫰 The restaurant also organised the birthday party theme for me with the DJ, dancers, flowers and candles around the performance stage and dining areas on level 2
