Words cannot express how amazing the food and it's presentation was! But Alex, the gentleman serving us, made the whole experience so worth while! His humor, his explanation and charm made us all fall in love with the evening!

For that special occasion and a splash of cash, excellent degustation menu , attention to detail , sublime decor, with very good staff to match. Recommended. Wagu beef mmmm... heaven... Cooked just right ...

Amazing restaurant with such a fantastic ambience. The waiting team were top class and very friendly. We chose the 5 course degustation which after 3 courses, we knew we should have chosen 7 courses. The food quality, presentation and accompanying wine was exquisite. The Filipino twist was nice but could have been more pronounced in a couple of dishes to champion the Philippines flavours. We we certainly come back again and try the larger sitting. Highly recommended. Thank you for making our anniversary special.

Nice dining experience and good ambiance. The detail put into the dishes and the flavours are superb and the wines are unique and match the dishes. Something to try out for sure if you enjoy good food. If you want to treat yourself or a loved one definitely go here. Really interesting tasting menu. Varied dishes, beautifully prepared. Maybe not everyone’s choice for each course, but so worth trying. The team were fantastic- knowledgeable, professional and friendly, in equal measures. We enjoy best food in lume restaurant.

Some restaurants you go to for dishes and flavors you know and love. And some restaurants you go to to explore new shores, to surprise your tastebuds with new delights. Lûmé is definitely in the latter category. Very creative fusion of Australian and Asian flavors - unexpected and engaging, and very enjoyable. (For most children some of the flavors are probably a bit too challenging, though.) The beverage pairing is excellent (sake, Japanese Hefeweizen, wines, and some in-house tea-based creations). And the staff are knowledgeable and (surprisingly for this type of restaurant) very approachable, friendly and warm (even let our daughter help serve some dishes to keep her entertained). We added a truffle option to one of the plates, and the chef came to our table to grate a VERY generous amount over our dishes with the comment “it’s the weekend!” - a perfect example of the welcoming and warm atmosphere of the place.

Amazing food, service, drink pairings. EJ knows his stuff, forages for original ingredients and was kind enough to let us eat the fi all course with him and pose for a photo . He also presents some of the dishes. 100% recommend and would return in a heartbeat

It was the most fantastic dining experience the chef produced the most artistically done dishes even the tableware was exclusive to the dishes our french server Alex stole the show with his lovely humerus and fun descriptions

Was not sure what to expect form a foraging restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. Interesting 12 dish menu with some component neither of us would normally try. Fantastic combination of flavours with all the dishes with the standouts being the Wallaby, Blue Mussels (my friend would not normally try but loved it) and the fish combo and the Tommy Ruff herring. I'm not normal a desert person but both the Stone Fruit & the Honey & Lavender were outstanding - would certainly return.

Absolutely amazing menu from a talented young chef. The tasting menu is a great way to try as many dishes as possible. The decor is beauty and the staff are knowledgeable, both food and wine. The wine list has an interesting selection. Highly recommended and I’ll definitely be back.

Was here for the Melbourne Cocktail Festival and was very impressed with the high quality of the food, cocktails and service. Also have to say, really enjoyed the Bread with the Beef Fat Candle. Will definitely be back to sample the full menu.

Don’t think I’ve had a better dining experience than I had here at Lume. The service was better than anything I’ve ever experienced and i truly felt like a queen :)

Really lovely croissants that reminds me of Paris! NICE AND CHEWY And flaky, no wonder they are popular! Love the original version heated up. Thanks for bringing quality croissants to Melbourne!

Very good presentation of food. We liked the potato chip with filling that looks like oyster. One can not make out that, what looks like a shell is made from potato. One of us was veg and the matched every dish but made a veg version of it. Really awesome experience.

We LOVED our evening at Lume! Such an amazing experience. The food was really original with flavours that we have never tried before. You won't find this type of cuisine elsewhere. The plates are very well presented and so delicious. The service was outstanding, waiters and bartenders were very knowledgeable. We truly felt like we were having dinner with our friends at home. The staff were really nice to talk to. To finish, we were the most impressed when we got to see that it was the actual chefs who came to present all their dishes to the table. This is 5 stars service! Thank you for this great experience. Johanna and Dejan Ps: Great selection of drinks including Calvados!!!

Vegetarian review - had the 5 course degustation. Food was good but not amazing. Some dishes were too salty, felt like an overcompensation for the lack of meat. The king Edward potato was a unique experience but the texture gave the feeling of an undercooked potato. Sourdough bread was included as one of the 5 courses which I felt was a bit of a cop out. Most fine dining restaurants provide top notch bread and butter with the meal, not as part of the courses. Desserts were unique and great. Overall ambience of the restaurant was nice, staff were friendly. Had some interesting cocktails.

The team at Lûmé are fantastic! They were so friendly on the phone and on delivery as well. I can’t recommend them enough! The ordering process was a breeze, and my delivery came on time. The antipasto board was full of amazing cured meats and pickles. So many slices of flavourful and rich meats.

Incredible experience! We went there just before the lockdown. Great food from regional Victoria. Surprising tastes (excellent beef dish, potato for desert). Very good presentation from staff and wonderful wine pairing! A gem in South Melbourne!

Had a voucher for my birthday for lume, it was a very interesting experience! The restaurant is on a quiet street in south melbourne in an old Victorian terrace home. The staff were pleasant and the food was tasty and of a decent size. Wine pairing was offered and featured a variety of wines from all over the world. Good for a special occasion or for a foodie looking for something new to try! (Photos of our favourite dishes below)

The staff were amazing and really pleasant. The only annoying part was I left feeling hungry after spending $300. Great experience though.

Great rang of wine selection, for the food especially the final dessert I personally think it’s a bit strange in taste, overall it’s a good experience

Had my birthday dinner here with my partner mid December 2019 and ordered the Full Lume Degustation plus a celebratory dessert ‘Ube Cake’. The restaurant has a warm and comfortable ambience and I liked how tables weren’t too close to one another. I enjoyed the intense flavours of the mud crab and king prawn dishes and the lighter flavoured ingredients in the scallops & sweet potato sandwich, bass grouper and wagyu dishes. Dishes I found disappointing was the shiitake mushroom with ‘Great Ocean Duck’ as there were only 3 or 4 thinly sliced teaspoon sized pieces of the duck which I thought should have been the highlight of the dish. The ube cake and banana spring roll wasn’t as interesting or as tasty as the other dishes (subjective?) but I did enjoy the flan with ice cold pineapple. Overall the flavours on the plate worked well together and I was quite impressed with the variety of ingredients used.

Nice service but unpredictable food since it keeps changing... first time was amazing second I would describe as 'meh'. But for the price, I'd expect more than a 'meh' experiance...

Service was attentive, main course of chicken was a let-down and dessert felt like a palate cleanser.

I would describe the food as ‘interesting’ but not as ‘delicious.’ Definitely got to try some unusual ingredients and experienced some unfamiliar tastes, but I can’t say I really enjoyed it. It was not very satisfying, neither taste-wise nor in terms of serving size, but I can tell they’ve put a lot of effort into making their dishes unique.

In my view the quality dropped quite a bit recently. Always enjoyed going there, but recently the individual menu pieces appear to be rather careless and loveless but together

Despite the price tag - this resturant is a good of example of how sometimes expensive doesnt mean tasty. Specifically, we had an iced dish that was frozed with nitous gas; the problem is the small frozen balls got stuck to your tongue and would burn. The desert was an absolute inedible disaster for this reason. Additionally we paid for the biggest course. Halfway through we were upsold for an additonal $60 for another extra course of wagu beef. In my opinion this should have just been included in the sitting or not offered at all. It is strange for an upscale resturant to further push for more money like that. Disappointingly, this 5 star restaurant has turned me off fine dining strictly because I paid near $400 per person to be disappointed with inedible courses.
