We booked for 5pm because we had a toddler with us. We're always conscious of how difficult it may be with a toddler and the restaurant and staff were very accommodating. All the other tables at our time had the same thinking as each had a baby or toddler. Overall it was great, the food was great and so was the service. Very happy and will be back. The only downside was my daughter ate half my serving of duck. The little one ate $20 worth of duck and dined at a fine French restaurant at only 1 year old. Privileged much?

I used to love this restaurant, however, something terrible has happened during Covid. Everyone was polite but it was like everyone has forgotten what to do once returning out of lockdown. We had to ask for bread (something that would normally arrive after ordering). When asked if we would like another drink, the different brand of drink arrived. The special extra finishes to all dishes have disappeared. I ordered the Cold Smoked Salmon, Caviar, Horseradish and that is what I received. Approx 500g of Smoked salmon on a plate with some caviar on a small plate. Nothing else. The horseradish didn't make it to the plate. My entree was expected to be small but it ended up larger than my main. Guillaume you need to return to Melbourne and sort out your restaurant and return the French magic! PS the oysters were fabulous

Long time fan of this restaurant that never disappoints. Boasting a fabulous location alongside the Yarra, it's the perfect place for delicious food and drinks, particularly out on the terrace enjoying the summer sun. The menu has a selection of traditional dishes, including weekly specials. Attentive wait staff will guide you through the menu, but rest assured, you won't be disappointed with what's on offer.

Nice venue with good view of the river. Location wise easy access to car park and public transportation. Dinner was nice but maybe could have been better with other choice of dishes. Mash potatoes were good. Chicken just tasted like duck! Too much seasoning going on it. Might recommend trying other dishes!

Great location, the service was average for a crown restaurant. The consistency of the service seems to vary also. One time was really good. Other times have been not so good. The waiter actually got 1 order wrong without even realising it. Then some more wrong orders coming up from other tables to our table. Not sure what happens??

I celebrated my family's birthday here, also known as one of the oldest French restaurant in town. This place has a mix of modern classic of European and Australian style, and has both indoor and outdoor dining area. Booking in advanced is strongly advised. We ordered escargot as starter, then 500g Rib Eye with Berneise sauce that came with potato wedges and Grilled Fish as the main. All of them were exquisite and the steak was perfectly cooked. I was expecting more of a seafood menu as it is summer, but there were only fish and mussles yesterday. Overall, I am so satisfied with this place. It has a natural sunlight came in through the high ceiling which makes all the photos looked stunning. Come again next time? I don't see the reason of not to.

First time diner at Bistro Guillaume on 3.6.2022 and this place did not fail to impress. The venue is absolutely beautiful as was the welcome. The wait staff were superb! The food was absolutely delicious. The cheese souffle was extraordinary and the French onion soup divine. We will definitely be going back and starting with the souffle every time.

My first visit, Such a wonderful dining experience in this French restaurant along the Yarra river. Warming environment plus the professional service is the most enjoyable part, delicious food really impressive. Many thanks~ Strong recommend to people traveling in Melbourne for a romantic night or friends treatment. Money spent here is much worth of the value. Would love to return next time.

Our 2nd preferred French cuisine near where we live (i.e. walking distance). In love with their food, as always. Favourite dishes usually are their steak & duck. Today we had the watercress salad, Roquefort, pear, & walnuts. Then, for main I ordered steak frites with Béarnaise sauce. It’s striploin steak 250g MBS 4+ that also comes with fries. Another main is the special of today (on blackboard) - i.e. white asparagus & eye fillet medallions.

Pleasant lunch today at Bistro Guillaume on Melbourne Southbank. As far as French bistros go, the menu offered all the classics from steak tartare to French onion soup. The John Dory was superbly cooked, and the Moules Frites was outstanding, and came with the best French fries I’ve had in a long time. Unfortunately I was too full to order dessert, but something for next time.

Our experience at Bistro Guillaume was simply amazing! We tried their 4-course menu with drinks, and every dish was delicious. The ambience was fantastic – bright and spacious, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly, making us feel right at home. The food portions were generous, leaving us fully satisfied. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a wonderful atmosphere.

Excellent French Bistro dining experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the white asparagus menu, celebrating the seasonal vegetable. The service was friendly and personable and the atmosphere was lively and yet intimate. We’ll be back!

A fancy restaurant located on the outskirts of Crown next to the iconic Yarra river. It is recommended you book beforehand, as it was quite busy when we arrived. Staff were very welcoming and warm; constantly checking up on us and making sure our cups were filled with water. We ordered the oysters which were surprisingly extremely fresh, as well as the escargot and beef tartare which were definitely delicious. However, it took a very long time for our mains to arrive (almost 45 mins after our entrees). I got the duck which was mediocre, small and tasted quite ordinary. My partner ordered the chicken which was cheaper and essentially double my dish in size!! Nevertheless, he did find the meat-to-side portion to be quite lopsided, and also very similar tasting to my duck dish.

Came here to celebrate our anniversary. We have been here a few times so it’s no suprise the service and food is good. I requested for a both and they provided it for me, and a high chair for my toddler. The food is absolutely delicious. The onion soup is so tasty, the mussels I can’t get enough of it. The steak tartare one of the best I’ve had . Will be back

Very nice ambiance, you can enter and exit from the outside or inside of Crown. You can also get points for dining as a Crown member. Staffs are friendly and the food was amazing. Each dish was serve with a nice presentation and good portion.

Really did enjoy the food. The waiters were very friendly... they only had tables outside but that turned out to be rather pleasant. I ordered two entrees. Escargo was great as too was the French Onion Soup. Finished off with a Creme Brulee. Definitely will come again

ORDERED: 🍞  Bread: two slices and butter ($2.50) 🍗  Poulet Roti: Roast Bannockburn Chicken, paris Mash, Tarragon Jus ($39.00) 🍮  Creme Brulee: Vanilla bean, almond tuille ($16.00) 🥥  [SPECIAL] Passionfruit souffle ($18.00) My portion was worth $57.25. REVIEW: ➖  The Poulet Roti was great but felt unfinished. Having it all to myself, the chicken was delicious and moist, while the paris mash was soft and creamy. Over time, it absorbed more of the tarragon jus, which gave it more of a delicious savoury taste. However, it felt strangely lacking. There was no real satisfaction once I finished my food. Perhaps from the lack of vegetables? *Note to self: the pan fried gnocchi is fabulous but may get overwhelming after a while. To be shared. ✔️  Desserts were great. Especially the almond tuille with its crispy, crunchy exterior being a great compliment to the sweet creme brulee. Passionfruit souffle was the special of the night. It was incredibly airy and made well. The passionfruit concoction that was poured in was a little too tangy for my liking, but still a solid way to finish. 😵 Overall, Bistro Guillaume isn't one of the strongest Crown restaurants in the area. I've been twice for lunch and once now for dinner (what my review is based on). 🫣 There are other French places in the CBD that tickle my fancy, like Philippe and The French Brasserie. If you're willing to go outside of the CBD, France Soir is a solid option.

I love French cuisine and wanted to try out a few restaurants left in Crown that I've not been. Doubted with not high rating on the Internet, but both my guest and I were obsessed with the seafood dishes here. Relaxing atmosphere with friendly service. This place should have higher rating than it should be. Good food good mood 😋

Great Wine list, and a fantastic range of wine by the glass from all over the world. There are many to choose from and I would ask for recommendations to accompany the meal. It is so great to see some great Australian varieties and to have a choice of wines also from so many french regions too. Menu: So many choices, for us (3) they allowed a sharing option, so we ordered Entrees like Snails, Oysters, Beef Tartare and Salmon, the we all received plates and tongs. We had whipped cod's roe and that was the goto for the herb bread. The sharing for us was the best way to experience this fantastic cuisine. "Always good to try something you have not tried before". For the main we selected the 600gm Beef Med-Rare and it was sliced ready to share with a sauce on the side that was 10/10. I think the whole experience of dining here was sensational, excellent staff and they were so good at communication. I can not say enough positive things about our meal and experience.

Best French restaurant I ever found in Australia! I am French and very fussy with food. This was an amazing experience. The staff was very professional and very thoughtful. I hope it says that way. Albaro was my waiter from the beginning to the end, he knew exactly what the job requires, a real gem ! Treating a client as their priority and with a kind, calm, attitude at all time. I had the best snail ever, steak and ratatouille finishing with a creme brulee. I loved it 😍

A beautifully decorated place in a great location with river view. But the service was slow, the food was delivered a bit cold and the waiter never checked in on us. Also, what I found strange was that when we asked if they had any specials for the day he kept announcing the price for each dish without us asking for price. Fish and fries for kids was very nice and flaky and they enjoyed it to the last bite. The steak tartare on the other hand was just ok and nothing special that I would want to go back for it. To me this restaurant is just average.

Exceptional customer service from ALL staff in particular our waiter Dylan! Also, thank you to the floor manager who sat us inside even though we had booked online to be seated in the terrace area. The food was outstanding too! We would happily come back 😊 (No photos of the escargot as we dived into them)

Great Bistro! Wondered in at 3pm and got a table. Had some entrees and then dessert with coffees. Delicious food and drink! There is also a bar area with seating. Good atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area is covered from the elements and was lovely to sit in. Service was impeccable and very friendly. There is an entrance from the crown complex and also from the main street on Southbank. Well worth a visit. Relaxed atmosphere with fine dining. There’s a French cafe vibe to the place and it was charming.

I came for the creme brulee and it was excellent. Silky smooth and tasted fantastic. All of the vanilla seeds had sunk to the bottom and there was a bit of an odd temperature thing where the custard was warm near the brulee, but quite cold everywhere else, it didn’t affect my enjoyment though. There was also an interesting almond biscuit which was nice.

Amazing time here. Food was delicious and I really couldn’t fault anything. Desserts were the standout but every course we had was just great. Very nice service as well, relaxed but professional and approachable. I am ultimately surprised by how much I enjoyed the experience here and will definitely be returning!

Don't let the daunting menu scare you to order things you never tried! Everything was delicious here! The service was great and we went for my partners birthday, they made him a nice plate of happy birthday written in chocolate. It was cute! I had the beef cheeks (I don't recall the actual name of the dish on the menu) it was so tender and juicy! We also ordered oysters which was super fresh. Highly recommend!

A little noisy but good ambience. Waitress was very friendly and food was most enjoyable, except the steak was quite fatty. Presentation was good. The bread is very tasty, but very crunchy. VERY disappointed that they no longer serve the raspberry macaron for dessert in the summer - it was SO beautiful and even more tasty. We used to come to Bistro Guillaume just to have that dessert. Please bring back the giant raspberry macaron, with fresh raspberries, coulis and sorbet.

We really enjoyed our experience at Bistro Guillaume. Beautiful outdoor dinning area that overlooks the river. Nice wine and cocktail list. Chardannay was fresh and fruity. Loved the prawn entree, really tasty. I also really enjoyed the lamb main dish which was recommended by the waitress. It was cooked perfectly and had so much flavour. Partner also enjoyed his eye fillet, again was cooked perfectly. I think the french fires served with it made it a bit cheap looking and maybe could be replaced with the really tasty mash that we order as an extra. For a ritzy place, prices were decent and meals were fulfilling. I can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a french dining experience.

Hands down one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in Melbourne. The food was divine. Every dish was perfect! Totally blown away. I highly recommend the gnocchi!

soufflé! Wonderful! Couldn't fault this dining experience. The service was friendly and attentive. Water glasses constantly topped up and champagne was lovely. Soufflé was substantial, delicate in texture and bold in flavour thanks to the Roquefort. The gnocchi was fabulous. A marriage of textures and flavours, with pumpkin, sage and goats feta. The desserts were on the small side, yet filling, the right size really. Profiterole-(1) for me and chocolate fondant for my partner. We sat at a window seat, it was perfect. Highly recommend.

Booked for Mum’s 80th birthday! What a wonderful lunch. Excellent food, fantastic service that you don’t seem to get anymore, and a lovely ambiance. The birthday macaron was a really nice touch. Also, excellent air quality inside the restaurant is really important keeping everyone healthy and happy. Highly recommend!

6 months ago, we stumbled across this restaurant because others had massive wait lines. Luckily we managed to visit this place as the food was delectable. We didn't order much as we just wanted a light dinner, but the food that we did order were so good. We were sat outside as the inside portion of the restaurant had already been reserved by diners for that night. The view outside was quite nice and we managed to get glimpses of the night time fire show.

If I am not watching Turkish, I am eating French! Two cultures that I absolutely enjoy in its own ways, many times a week and far too much in an year! When kids say Escargots for weekend lunch..my answer is a straight yes and thinking where! We ordered the snails 🐌 of course, terrine, gnocchi, chicken in wine sauce and apple crumble and potato mash! Every dish was a delight to eat. French enough...well close enough but not quite. I don’t think I will be back if I want French for lunch but overall, a nice relaxing delicious meal. Today, also, happens to be my dad’s birthday and in every true sense, he is my forever hero. Miss you dad and wish you a great birthday. Here’s to us 🍷

Bistro Guillaume has been our go to places for special occassions. Foods are phenomenol and so do staffs and environments. Their signature Wagyu Beef anf lambs are a must try but prepare to wait for a good 40mins to cook into perfection. Grilled Octopus from Entree is also highly recommended. Very family friendly and get ready to be pampered with all the goodness they are about to bring to you.

Incredible! We ordered the french onion soup (which they so kindly split into two bowls for us), steak frites and gnocchi. The gnocchi was the best we have tried! Melts in your mouth. French onion soup was so rich and the cheese was perf. Our waitress was such an angel too. We came for our anniversary and were hoping we would get a little treat but we were so full by the end we probably wouldn’t have been able to eat anything more! Pricey but worth it. We will definitely be back 😊

Ive decided to take my chance and walked in for lunch service today, and boy I was in luck. Got a table inside next to the window, so I have the best view outside to the river yet still be able to enjoy the warm inside. I could see there are blanket for each of the table outside, which is quite thoughtful of the restaurant. The food are fantastic, especially the special of the scallop dish.

Came to Bistro Guillaume visiting Melbourne for a few days and after staying nearby at the Langham for one night. Nice easy walk along the promenade you will find Bistro Guillaume in the heart of Crown and it is gorgeous 💗 the atmosphere and whole vibe of the place was 10/10 and couldn’t fault it. Fairy lights, city and river views, lovely music in the background and beautiful aesthetically pleasing restaurant, it was lovely. Loved the vibe, perfect for a romantic winter dining experience. The food was all very tasty and delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. All very well cooked and flavourful. Service was also excellent and very fast service. Only downfall (minor) was that the multiculturalism of the staff takes a little bit away from the authentic French feel but other than that top notch. Hope to return in future (still thinking about our meal there) and highly recommend x 😊

They have good options for Vegetarian, Pescitarian and anyone else. The entrees were amazing. Wow. I had escargot for the first time, and judging by this, won't be my last. Also if you ever had brioche, it won't compare to this. Imagine eating a crispy cloud. One of the mains had was the muscles, juicy, lemony oniony garlic buttery mouth watering flavours. Hmmm... I want more now... Their service is not arrogant, very friendly and they also make jokes. The French male waiter treated us like regulars, even though it was out first time. Finally, you cannot leave without having the Creme Brulee. Will deffo go again and again. If you're in Crown, don't eat anywhere else but here.

Wonderful experience, lovely food. Expensive but worth the extravagance for special occasions. So good, highly recommend! A lovely team of waiters are the jewel in this little gems crown! Each dish was even more delicious, from the thick and tasty French Onion soup, snails, salmon, steak and delightful fries and yummy mussels to the Meringue for dessert. Can't wait to return and choose something different! Thankyou everyone at Bistro G for making my daughters birthday a night to remember!

Lovely location. Service was slow and not attentive. 3/4 mains were lovely. Disappointed and concerned with one meal. No waiting staff checked after meals were served. Noted to staff when they eventually arrived to clear the table nearly 15 minutes after finishing that I was uncomfortable eating the chicken which was visibly pink throughout and very soft. They apologised immediately and then again left for sometime with no explanation and offered deserts. The bill was later presented with the everything including the chicken. I queried with the waiter and explained i was not willing to pay for the chicken (different waiter from previous) who in return offered apologies and corrected the bill. They then went on to inform me and the table that this was the way the chef cooks chicken and that it was indeed cooked etc. He continued until I ultimately had to dismiss saying I wasnt comfortable with the dish. Overall and after a look at other similar reviews I would give the restaurant a miss in future

Honestly best meal i’ve ever had! The fish was cooked so well it practically melted in my mouth, it was so good I was tempted to lick the plate 😂 the oysters were super fresh and high quality we ordered more after trying them.
