Nice Italian restaurant. Foods are delicious and the service is great. The sauce in the seafood pasta, duck meat balls and baby octopus are great. The special of the day beef rib is amazing. Definitely recommend it!

Pasta was great but the over experience was quite average. The portions are really small for the price, even for main courses. The chicken livers were the most disappointing dish since I had the same thing in other Italian joints and it usually comes with a few slices of bread, salad and way more flavourful. It's truly regrettable considering how great the reviews are and the potential of what the place could be.

Great venue to have a quick but great meal before the football across the road. Highlights were the Italian reds and the deserts and coffee. Great staff who are passionate about their restaurant.

Now the locals are eagerly rewarding this local favourite. Geppetto is always booked out for lunch, it is hard to get a table upstairs or downstairs. The wonderful staff welcome guests warmly. They seem to remember the names of the locals. Our waiter Aldo is one of the best...polite, respectful, he explained the menu, waited till we were ready to order. He placed our meals on the table with a smile of pride. The antipasta platter was generous, the veal was also generous and delicious. It is always top class, homely Italian food at Geppetto.

Lovely authentic Italian cuisine. Freshly made pasta cooked to perfection. Some interesting menu choices on offer. We've dined in both the down stairs and up stairs dining rooms. Wait staff were lovely. Only down side for some might be the stairs to toilet facilities.

I had organised a dinner for a large group in the private dining room. I hadn’t been to the restaurant before so was slightly anxious that about taking a group of clients here. I shouldn’t have been as wow wow wow. We had the set menu. The food was absolutely incredible and our clients were raving about it! The waiters were super friendly, accomodating and very efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We will definitely be back if we have another conference in Melbourne! Thankyou team Geppetto !

Our group of about 10 people booked a dinner catch-up here and we were all really looking forward to the meal (due to the excellent reviews) but were left very disappointed. Aside from the sharing platter and the eye fillet which were serviceable, everything else was below par, with the pastas in particular a real disappointment. We left wondering if the head chef had taken ill that night.

I went to dinner here after I finished my shift. My fellow employees served me and treated me with the same respect and dignity that they treat their customers. I’ve worked my fair share of hospitality jobs, and this place by far has the best people and management i’ve ever seen. Money is never a priority here but making sure customers enjoy their food and service. I love love love working here and am so grateful to be surrounded by supportive people.

Great location over the road from the 'G'. We walked in without a booking, staff advised us they could give us a table for one hour, we accepted. Glad we did. Amazing, friendly, helpful staff. Great food. A truly authentic restaurant. Place was packed by the time we left. We'll return with a booking next time allowing us more time to truly enjoy the full dining experience. Food was exceptional! We went for my mother's birthday and pretty much tried all the pastas. The Spaghetti Alla Pescatora is a must as well as the Shelled pasta Gorgonzola (if you like your creamy pasta). It was reasonably priced for the area ($40-$60) and parking was easy to come by (there are multiple 1 or 2 hour parking bays, paid and unpaid) in the area. Highly recommend Gepetto's if youre looking to impress your friends or family.

Everything we ordered was delicious, especially the foccacia. Simple dish but done so well. Along with the olive tapenade, it was a match made in heaven. The mushroom pasta parcels and Gorgonzola shell pasta were amazing. Pork loin was full of flavour and juicy. Only the pistachio cake didn't wow us but it was still alright. Probably should have gone for the tiramisu instead. They offered us some digestifs on the house probably because it was our anniversary dinner. Service was friendly and the staff love to have a yarn with the regulars. Really delicious Italian dishes and I would definitely come back.

12/10 experience! We had the fried whiting, focaccia, Gorgonzola pasta, seafood pasta and porchetta with a bottle of red. Every single part of each meal was delicious and we left feeling very full and satisfied. Would 100% recommend!

We purchased takeaway food this week. Not only was the service attentive and speedy, but the food arrived very quickly. We were waiting outside and our waiter was lovely enough to come outside and get me to give us our food. The food was delicious, we will be returning next time we are in Melbourne. Such a lovely dinner! Geppetto is a very intimate restaurant that matches a heartwarming atmosphere with delicious food. The staff is attentive, friendly and professional, the food was delicious and carefully presented. A place to experience the Italian culinary tradition in all its aspects. Wide choice of Italian and Australian wines and tasty vegetarian options! We couldn't resist the delicious desserts and, of course, a proper Italian coffee :) The dining rooms aren't too big, and even when it gets busy, it still feels calm and intimate.

Fantastic! Went for Valentine's day and we had a great time! Wait staff were very friendly and attentive, food was delicious, we had the mushroom risotto and barramundi and both were great. We just moved to the area and will definitely be back.

First visit to this beautiful restaurant and we loved it! The service was impeccable. The seafood spaghetti and gnocchi bolognaise were both fantastically delicious and well complimented by the suggested wines. Home made flourless chocolate cake and smooth lattes to finish. We were even treated to house-blend Italian liquors on the house as it was my birthday. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant . We'll be back!

Geppetto Trattoria in East Melbourne, is one of my favourite restaurants. I have been coming here for many years and jt never disappoints. I love the authenticity of the food, service and atmosphere. Do yourself a favour and get on down, you won’t regret it!

I love this place. I feel like I am back in Italy whenever I dine here. The food is always very tasty and the service has never been less than wonderful. A great little local secret for those of us lucky enough to know about.

First time at Geppetto and they did not disappoint! Uncomplicated Italian food I would expect if I had an Italian Grandparent. Slow cooked meats, fresh pasta and the most delicate tiramisu I've had in a while. Friendly service and good portions. Dinner for 2 was $165 including corkage.

Simply phenomenal food. We had the focaccia which was pillowy soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside, then I had the best pork of my life as a main. The atmosphere was cosy and rustic, and the service was very good as well. Expensive, but well worth the price

My partner and I were staying locally. We drove by Geppetto Trattoria, and already there was a welcoming and intimate appearance, which beckoned us to dine there. Although it was quite late at night, one waiter met us at the door, pleasantly welcomed us and found a table. The service was outstanding. Polite and professional. They were present, and kept a respectable distance at the same time. The food was hand made, authentic and more delicious than the menu read. The total experience was classy and inclusive, whereas some other venues would have pretentious. I think that we found a gem, and a “keeper “ next time we are in Melbourne. Excellent!

This is one of the best Italian restaurant’s I have been too! The dishes are authentic and delicious! Very kid friendly also. We are regulars and they always remember our family, staff are lovely to our daughter! Would highly recommend for takeaway and dine in options. Especially LOVE the panfritto with 30 month old parmesan - To die for!

I find the food a little bit more than average, but something is missing. Their Bolognese gnocchi and gongorzola pasta were tasty, but not sophisticated enough for the price they charge. More spices and ingredients to give the dishes more richness would be appreciated. Sprinkle some garlic flakes, basil, dried tomatoes etc...be imaginative

We were late in arriving, close to kitchen closing. No issue, simply making us aware. The food was fresh and delicious...bruschetta and soup of the day, followed by dessert. The team very polite, welcoming and professional. Environs welcoming and able to sit and have a conversation. Would go again if in area.

What I love about Geppetto's Trattoria is its authenticity. From the decor to the food to the friendly staff. Everything works well here and is a must on your dining experience list. We had a really delightful celebration here. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout, and the meal was delicious. We all had different options and all enjoyed everything we ate. It is always an experience dining at Geppetto. We are made to feel most welcome and the ever-changing specials board gives you options from the main menu. They also have a very interesting range of outstanding wines by the glass. The other thing we love is that included in the main courses are vegetables instead of having to trawl through a long list of "sides" at extra cost as is the case in many restaurants.

We love coming to Geppetto’s. The food, service and atmosphere are always wonderful. We particularly like that they offer dishes not often seen. These include offal of varying types ( last night kidneys and tripe were on the menu), goat, and veal. The pasta and risotto dishes are interesting; again, not ones you necessarily find very often. The staff are welcoming, knowledgable and helpful. All the above combine to make it a great night for guests. We have been going there regularly and will continue to do so. Mille grazie.

Can safely say that this little gem has been added to our list of favourite restaurants! The cosy and warm ambience sets the tone upon walking through the door; clean, simple and traditional, and that's how we knew we'd be in for a treat. It was a Thursday date night, so we started off with the Espresso Martini and I could have had 2 or 3 more it tasted so good, but it was a school night and I decided to keep it classy. Nino's Antipasto was a no-brainer- it had all things yummy and why wouldn't you want to taste a bit of everything? It was the perfect starter, very flavoursome and put the pressure on me to up my cooking game at home (I am working on it!). Hubby then opted to have the seafood spaghetti and I chose the braised goat, and by then there was no conversation between us because we were smashing down that food like it was nobody's business! Accompanied by a smooth shiraz, we were in foodie's Heaven and I didn't want to leave. Serving portions are quite generous, you won't go hungry. But there is ALWAYS room for dessert, so it was the house baked ricotta cheesecake (this was Sicily on the palette, so good!) and the poached pear which was just as tasty. The service was very friendly and accomodating- the staff are very polite and make you feel at home. We will definitely be back to try everything else on the Menu because it would be a real shame not to!

Service and food were outstanding - I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. The homemade pasta Agnolotti Funghi was the best home made pasta I have ever tasted and every single dish served for our table of 10 were delicious. It was a wonderfully authentic Italian experience and has made the list as one of our favourite restaurants in Melbourne!

This was a lovely surprise. It felt like an authentic Italian family restaurant. Our waiter Enrico was attentive without being pushy and lots of fun. The food was delicious. We had bruschetta with olive tapenade followed by the daily fish and pasta special- sword fish in a garlic, white wine, tomato and chili sauce. It was delicious. My companion had home made gnocchi with slow cooked wagyu beef and tomato sauce. We had home made praline gelato for dessert- made by Nona or so Enrico says? The wine list was adequate and especially good options for wine by the glass. It was under $50 per person. Great value.

Can't fault this place. Excellent service, delicious traditional food, well priced wine. New favourite Italian.

Had dinner here - it's a pretty small and cosy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Staff were great. We enjoyed our meals, one was pretty good but the other (beef gnocchi) was amazing. Our thoughts were that the drinks were a bit pricey. Overall positive and would happily visit again.

The service was good and the waiter was very chatty and new his stuff. The food was good and the coffee was even better. Espresso Would recommend if your looking for a nice spot to sit relax and enjoy nice food. Can get a bit busy during certain times but that’s eating out in Melbourne.

I was having one of the toughest days of my life, I so badly needed a nutritious meal. I looked like a mess, I asked for a takeaway meal and the way I was served and looked after here was everything I could have possibly needed on this day. A beautiful fancy restaurant that made me feel so welcome. Such lovely humble people. I am so unbelievably grateful and I ended up with two delicious, hearty, nutritious meals full of love, everything I needed to warm my soul.

We had our first dinner at Geppetto tonight. What can we say? As italians we can definitely say this is the best Italian restaurant we had enjoyed in Melbourne so far. Not just about the food itself, which was amazing, generous and well served, but mostly because of the atmosphere we felt. It’s a place the really deserves to be called “Trattoria” Having a dinner a Geppetto’s completely filled the emotional gap we’re feeling every single day when we’re thinking about home. Enrico is the waiter that everyone would love to have being served from and Adriano is a very special owner, he came at our table with a smile that he never left until the end of the shift. Just BEAUTIFUL

The service here is always great! Tiramisu is one of the best we have had and very consistent. This time around when I went with my partner, the pricing on the menu and what we got charged was inconsistent ( don't know if there's is a surcharge for Saturday or something), everything was slightly more when we got charged than in the menu we saw ( not a good look for a family restaurant, so would love an explanation so I can redo the review)- apart from that all good.. Also could have more vegetarian option, while the ravioli is great, when they made up the vego dish, it could have been better.

Average food and very small portions for mains especially for the price. Restaurant is very old, tables and chairs you'd think the owner would upgrade. Overall I've eaten at some of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne and unfortunately this isn't one of them.

Really fantastic restaurant and very popular so recommend that you book. Front of house staff very good and explained the specials board so well. Food was excellent had starter and main off the board. My wife said her Gnocchi was lovely and soft
