Expanded and powerful, this is how this monument located in Kings Domain on St Kilda Road is shown. This incredible place pays tribute to Australians who served in their country during the war. It is also a site of annual celebrations for ANZAC Day (April 25) and Remembrance Day (November 11). If you go, you could see a beautiful building with incredible architecture (scales, columns, carved figures) and a huge garden from which you can enjoy the wonderful view of Melbourne's skyscrapers. Words related to this place: history, World War I, Remembrance Day, architecture, galleries of remembrance.

Excellent place to visit,It is moving memorial. The Shrine is located close to the CBD and offers lovely views of the city. The Shrine has a museum and offers tours,I took the guided tour which was so worthwhile. It's a great place to visit anyway but having things explained added a lot to the experience. The exhibits are very interesting (and moving) and the views from the top are amazing. Highly recommended!

I heard some tourists say "well there wasnt that much to see" if you think this you've missed the exhibit surely. Downstairs there is a huge amount of information and historic artifacts that took hours to look through, while feeling like you've only been there for 30 minutes.

As a German it left a very bad feeling in me that my ancestors played a big rule in the origin of the building... The views on the roof give you time to contemplate and get a feeling for how far we humans have come and how far peace has brought us.

What an awesome building, and if you had someone ancestry in the great wars to look up their name. It certainly brings a bit of pride finding them. But as a monument it's spectacular and well worth the exploration. There is a lot more there than meets the eye. Thumbs up if you have found a Grand Pa or relative in those books they keep?

This is a place to remember the fallen who protected us and gave us our freedom as we know it. You can walk around the Shrine or go inside. This place is at its busiest on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. A little known fact is you cannot see buildings behind it as you look down ST Kilda road , with some buildings behind it shaped so you can’t see them. Also no buildings casts a shadow on this area, it’s free to go but remember to be respectful

A beautiful building that sits in what seems in the middle of St Kilda road when a far. The building is perfect and immaculate. The displays have a walking tour that walks you through from the early era right through to today with Iraq and Afghanistan. Uniforms, photos, books and a guided tour as well that runs every half an hour from 10am. Beautiful view from the balcony looking in all 4 directions. We'll worth the visit if you've never been.

Go to the very top for an amazing photo of Melbourne. I can here on my very first day in Melbourne and it happened to be very close to Remembrance Day where there were beautiful knitted poppies everywhere. Absolutely stunning.

You can feel the immense weight of history bearing down here. Be convinced that to be happy means to be free and that to be free means to be brave. Therefore do not take lightly the perils of war. Thankyou to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Lest we forget.

The Shrine of Remembrance is a free to visit place that educates the public about Australia's part in the wars of the past as well as current humanitarian operations its involved it. Overall a great place to visit to learn about war related history. Parking spans all along the sides of the road and relatively cheap. Do try to drive to nearby and find a parking instead of parking too far away.
