Unbelievable! Living for more then 25years here in Victoria and never knew that we have such a Gem of Lake here right at our doorstep.! Great fun for the whole family and friends to come together for a great day out. Canoeing, swimming stand up paddleboard. Mountain biking. Hiking around the lake or just having a BBQ and enjoying the scenery. Just superb.

Perfect place to swim and stay relax. With kangaroos and lot of birds. Water was not cold with today temperature (34’C) so if you wanna swim the water is still so warm (now it’s 9pm) so highly recommended the place with 1-2 minutes walking distance to the car park. Also it’s a excellent place if you love nature photography

What a wonderful park 😍😍😍😍😍 ever never see like this amazing park. The only park we saw lots of kangaroos 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘 lots of birds and many other things. The lake is another story. Clean and cool 😍😍😍😍. I advise you to visit this beautiful park. Don't forget to take photos with kangaroos but you should be careful with them.

Plenty of shady picnic tables and free BBQ's, two public toilet blocks all close to the carpark area. There are quite a few walking and bike tracks to choose from. Safe areas to swim for the little ones along a sandy beach area. Kangaroos are often seen in the early morning and evenings. It's quite a diverse area with plenty to see, and some smaller nature trails for those interested.

A wonderful place for family and friends to go into the nature for a dipping or hiking/biking locates at the eastern inner Melbourne. Traffic: it’s very hard to visit with public transportation, so driving is a better option. There are a lot of parking spaces. Even during the busy time, you can still find a spot. Facilities: like other parks, it’s free access, and has public toilets and picnic areas with barbecue stations. Highlights: a good place to visit Kangaroo families. After 6 pm everyday, you may even get a “close contact”. There are many other native animals and plants. The lake allows swimming and boating. It is also a wonderful place for hiking or riding bicycles.

Fantastic place to walk, run and ride mountain bikes. Have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Fortunate to see lots of wallabies and kangaroos this time plus a fox that got away before the camera was out! Plenty of BBQs and toilets at different points in the park. 👍😃

Beautiful place to go for a long walk! Lots of trails and mini beaches where people can be seen swimming. Amazing view of the lake and just nature in general — wildlife can also be spotted at the scene if you’re lucky! Ran into a few animals which was a pleasant surprise. Very big park.

This is a beautiful picnic, walking and relaxing scenic area surrounding a large lake. (reservoir). No motor vehicles are allowed on the water so it remains quiet and peaceful for paddle boarding, rowing and swimming. The boat ramp is at the entrance end and a shallow, safe swimming bay with beach is at the far end next to the reservoir wall/walkway. The whole area is amongst beautiful eucalyptus trees. It is extremely popular but there is plenty of parking, we even found a parking spot on the beautiful Christmas day.

Lysterfield Park is a perfect destination for a relaxing day in the water, or on the grass. 🏞️ With hiking and cycling tracks. Barbecues, swings. Wildlife such as kangaroos and aquatic birds. And the placid Lysterfield Lake for swimming, kayaking, canoeing and sailing. It is a picturesque, lush area to explore.

Landscape was good and there were so many kangaroos roaming. Walking trail was good and we went across the lake. There are so many trails available and you need a day to explore all. Amazing evening here. There were around 3-4 walking trails. We spotted some echidnas and kangaroos during the trail. The reservoir was amazing. People were kayaking in that lake. There is place for barbecue setup and all. Overall an amazing place to enjoy weekend and chill. Kangaroos were too near the lake side walk. Cycling trail was there as well.

Awesome place to MTB, walk and jog around with plenty of trails to suit. Take a mobile with you just in case. Take a day pick with packed lunch if you want and eat by the lake. These paths are shared paths so keep left and be polite. People are nice up there ace always say hello. Take water with you if your riding, it will come in handy. Quite busy too on a nice day and seemed popular and enjoyed by all.

The bike trais closed, discovered that after driving 1,5 hours as Vic Parks or Lysterfield park sites are not up to date. Park management just letting you know that you are useless ?. Maybe you should be replaced with someone who really needs a job and is willing to do his job.

There is an all-mountain bike trails around the lake which can be done by 1 hour riding. The end of the track is the Lysterfield lake itself. At the parks, there is lots of BBQ tables that can be used for gathering. If you like to swim in the lake, there is a spot near the park, complete with sands. Also, if you want to play kayak or padding, you can do here as well. The lake can be reached within an hour from Melbourne CBD.

Pleasant park. We did the 1.5 hour circuit around the lake. Unfortunately you cannot see much of the lake and it was just a walk around, the paths are mostly gravel. Cyclist friendly too!

A beautiful park with lots of wildlife including kangaroos, echidnas, wallabies, variety of birds and more. They have really good toilets and you can even swim in the reservoir- only on some sections though. Highly recommend and only 40 mins drive from Melbourne CBD to feel you are alike in the country!

We took an easy, relaxing walk around the lake on a sunny autumn day. Quite a few kangaroos abound! It's a great place for families, young and old, as the circuit walk is not strenous apart from a short stretch of incline. There are mountain bike trails as well. The lake circuit walk is about 7km long. A more challenging walk to Granite Peak branches off from the circuit walk closer to the dam concrete bridge. This trail is 5km one-way. There was ample parking on a weekday and a large public loo is near the car park.

I walk the circuit around the lake 2-3 times a month, normally at about sunrise. Plenty of kangaroos, peaceful and invigorating. The view across the lake from the dam is beautiful and serene around this time of the day.

A stunning park with acres and acres of hiking trails circumventing the huge lake. If you seek out the trails away from the lake and the crowd you will hear a lot of bird song. Best time is to go in spring when the wattles are in bloom and you walk though clouds of perfume in some sections. And so many picnic spots with gas BBQs. Then there's Montague Orchard's beautiful Stella's Kitchen and Bill's Farm Gate Shop to explore before you leave for great food and produce.

A very beautiful park with a nice lake. TOO BAD that some people have absolutely no respect or love for the environment, they leave their trash behind expecting some one else to pick up the pieces! Disgusting behavior!

One of the quite gems of Melbourne, and probably one of the most used parks. Parks Victoria does a great job of managing Lysterfield Park. I used to run all the trails so I know it very well. It is home to not just runners but even more so for mountain bike riders.

Bad review left today mainly due to covid. No cycling apart from maintenance trails. Well it would be nice to know what a maintenance trail is and where they are located but the softcock rangers are behind locked gates so I guess there's no cycling in this park at all. I've had the fortune of working with parks Victoria rangers in the past and they put the losers who work here to shame.

On a rainy bike ride We hadn't been to the park in nearly a year for a mountain bike ride but as we got onto the old trails it all came back. The familiar swoops and turns which make this place a great place for single track riding.

Quite crowded and busy in the summer. While a pleasant spot for a BBQ or for large gatherings, it's not the best place for a walk around the lake. The lake walk is okay in parts, but for the most you'll unlikely see much! BBQs and toilets available with some nice areas to kayak/SUP. A range of bike trails too. Not the best for walking (at least around the lake). Other walks may be more interesting.

Make sure to bring cleaner to clean the bbq. Might need to wait for bbq on a bisy day but gets free to use once other people finishes. Nice calm lake. You can swim but be careful as I have heard about snakes although I have seen lots of people swimming and having fun in lake.

First time visiting this park with lake. It is a big park facilitated with lots of BBQ machines, benches, public toilets and both normal and disable carparks. Trail will show beautiful view of lake and parks. It has plenty native animals and flora. It even has kangaroo. Lovely. The lake itself is huge. Good for whomever have boat and kayak. Visiting this place will not disappointing. Good for relaxing away from crowd. Very recommended.

If you haven't been to this piece of Heaven, you should. Not just a beauty to relax and soak-in nature, but also a beauty that offers many trail-walks, Kangaroos and Wallabies (closest area to find near Melbourne, in wild) and a lake set-up for an awesome one day picnic.

It's a very good place with Lake at the centre. Lots of place to sit and barbecue. It has toilet facility as well. They were very clean for public toilets. You can do BMX bike stunts in one corner. It has a short walk trail but I didn't go long do don't know the distance. Good to have bicycle for kids here.

What i like most is the very organised car parking with bay numbers. The park is clean and tidy with ample picnic benches and play area. Only problem i found was the shared Walking/riding path. You have to be very mindful of riders and skaters. I hope they will widen the path with clear instructions in future.

All the spaces are very open. Amazing, in love. It was our first time as a family and we simply enjoyed it. Lake, paddles, kangaroos, birds, just gorgeous. So many families having picnics, bike riding, walking, running, excellent for all sort of activities.

Walk around the lake is a great leisurely stroll, approx 6km. Don't wear your best shoes if it has been wet, parts of the trail can be wet and muddy. Regular sneakers should be fine if mud/damp doesn't bother you. For a longer walk with more hills, the granite peak trail is also 👌 Going in the morning you can frequently spot kangaroos. Be aware of mountain bikers as the trail does cross the bike trails at places.

I always love this place. The walking tracks, the lake and BBQ areas enable all family types to enjoy. Bringing my own chairs and sitting under a tree while reading a book is very satisfying.

Can't speak too highly of Lysterfield Lake Park and surrounds. I go walking and kayaking there. Lots of trails, some less used than others, plenty of wildlife and a real sense of getting away from it all. Access to several other parks too, and some great views towards the city and the bay from the hill tops. Just get there early on holiday weekends to avoid the crowds!

Good park for exercise— swimming, jogging, cycling, and walking. Most paths are woody and green, some more than others. The circuit trail around the lake is about 5km. Multiple toilets, public barbeques, and picnic areas located around the spacious carpark area.

Lysterfield Park is next door to Churchill National Park, with seamless boundary. Lots of kangaroos roam around here. It is a pleasant giant park suitable for families. Lots of established purpose-built mountain bike trails suitable for all skill levels, and was used for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. (The other interesting mountain bike trails with substantial tracks are located at plenty Gorge and the You Young’s). This huge park accommodates lots of hiking trails too. Mostly pleasant flat trails with some grade 3 sections leading to the trig point with views to the city and the quarry. Please be careful of fast bicycles crossing some of the trails, especially on weekends. There are many access points to the park. The modern Stella’s Kitchen is located at the entrance of Lysterfield Park, very close to the lake. Lysterfield Park has bbq areas and two toilet blocks near the lake; with the other one at the mtb entrance. There is another toilet block at the Churchill Park next door.
