Good decoration and classes, however had a really negative experience with one staff (not the instructor in my class), moody and interrupts customers rudely. Being really affected by her unprofessional attitude, I asked to speak in private out of respect, unfortunately received no basic empathy, not to mention an apology. I think places like this should know that people come to yoga/ meditations only half for physical health, but half for mental health or selfcare purpose. If you are not in your best mood and can’t even be patient (if not polite) with customers, you shouldn’t be working. Explaining a whole lot personal situation like “I shouldn’t even be working at this hour” is simply not professional. I went to Emporium club with the genuine plan to sign up as a member, unfortunately I could not even enjoy the trial class that I paid because of this negative experience prior. I would not recommend this studio to any of my friends or colleagues and will honestly share the reason with whoever thinking to try yoga/ Pilates for self-care purpose. We all have stresses in life, keep in mind you are a “mind-body” studio. Keep the place calming and somewhat positive is the least you can do. I didn’t even bother checking the name of this staff, judging based on the attitude, it’s likely someone from the management. This saddens me even more, team lead/ senior stuff set the culture of a business, if you are not someone with the ability to take feedback or treat customers with basic professionalism, this will impact the public’s impression of the brand, just give it time. ——————————————————————— To the particular stuff that I had issues with last night: you emotionally interrupted me saying I was “raising voice”, feel free to check with any of your colleague or footage, I don’t think this would be agreed by anyone present. A leader without the ability for reflection is worrying, your staff might not have the gut to point it out but from a customer’s perspective, the two young receptionists were way more professional and friendly than you last night, and your staff explains the high Reviews score on Google. If you wish to give me a “come back” with the nitty gritty from your perspective, I’m more than happy to elaborate things from mine too. However that’s not helpful in changing the impression that you have left me with or solving the issue. I’m happy to be contacted via email or phone (when not at work) for further discussion, however no more emotional dominant attitude please. I work in Mental Health setting as a clinician, one of the hot tips I give my clients with anxiety and depression is trying meditation and yoga for mindfulness and self-regulation. This experience makes me evaluate my advice to clients not knowing how their social experience is going to be. I’d like to see some progress from your team, and wish you all the best with business.

I was trying to find a place to work out that would meet all my requirements and then Kaya came into my life. I couldn’t be happier!! I love everything about Kaya! The classes are just what I was looking for, the space is super clean and organised, the girls from the front desk are super friendly, the vibe of the place is great and the instructors are amazing especially Lauren’s, Esther, Matt and Jose. I wish Emporium would also provide cycling classes tho :D I feel super motivated to go to the gym now!

Worth every star in my opinion! All I can say is wow, what a gym, what a studio and what a business. Kaya offers high quality instructors, a large variety of classes on an affordable weekly membership price. The studio is beautiful and always clean, calm and serene. The instructors AND staff are always genuinely friendly and helpful. I look forward to each and every class I attend each week and the instructors are a large part of this reason. Being a young mum, who has returned to work and other family commitments I always feel energised, centred and recharged after a class at KAYA :)

Would not recommend signing up to this club. I was charged for two instalments on my membership despite having the account frozen and not visiting the club due to COVID. When speaking with the emporium membership advisor she told me “I don’t see why you want a refund” despite it being clear on why I shouldn’t be charged for not attending the centre! There was also disregard for my person situation and the person assisting me refused to refund my the charged amounts and did not seem to care about why I wasn’t attending. The club does not care about its members as not once did they reach out to see how I was doing or whether I needed my membership to continue being frozen or whether I wanted to come back. This poor communication is a direct reflection on the management practices and the need for the club to make as much money by its members. I know gyms are doing it tough during the many lockdowns Victoria is facing but so are us victorians. I will not be renewing my membership and I don’t recommend doing so either. UPDATE: further to my previous review my issue still remains unresolved by Kaya. It seems that I am not the only member experiencing issues with the business in particular with the way Reema is handling these situations. After posting my review I received a very angry call from Reema. She informed me that my review was not true and she believes that I am in the wrong. I told her I had photographic and email evidence to support that I had put a further freeze on my account and I don’t understand why I was charged. I also explained that my review was not false as not once was I reached out to by the organisation since January 2020 and now it seems from the other reviews I am not the only one feeling as though the business seems to just care about making money. Reema was very persistent on having an argument with me so I told her I had to go. She sent me a follow up email pressuring me to change my google review and insisted a positive outcome was provided. It seems to be positive on their end since they don’t wish to refund me but not on mine. I then responded saying I wish to have everything specified in writing for support if I needed to take this further. I again provided evidence of my freeze and no response. It seems as though they only wish to speak to members over the phone to avoid having anything in writing. I don’t agree on their business ethics or morals and I most definitely will be taking this further as I am yet to see a resolution from this.

I had a great time working out in Kaya. The instructors are really fun and encouraging. I loved their FC, Barre and Reformed Pilates class.

Kaya is my oasis from home. I have been to so many gyms and it is honestly the best gym I’ve ever been a member of. The lovely aroma as you enter makes it more than just a gym, it’s a wellness oasis! Staff are all so friendly and welcoming. I’ve felt significant improvement in my physical health and my mental health. Couldn’t have been happier and even got a few of my girlfriends to join too to share the love!

The reception force me to borrow towel from them for ($2) otherwise they said not let me go to class. But my friend came later after me , she didn’t bring towel either, they didn’t force her at all. Why don’t they treat everyone as same way?? I recommend two people sign for membership, I didn’t get any free week at all, when I asked them, they said just the person you recommend will get 4 weeks promotion. Before I sign membership here , my friend recommended me . I didn’t get any thing free weeks at all!!

*Edited to reflect the management review* I just saw the management reply today and decided to reduce my rating from 2 stars to only 1 star as I am completely astonished with Christian's reply. I have to say that I am deeply disappointed that Christian decided to 'denied' my honest feedback about his business and framed me as a 'nasty villain' (this clearly reflected in his last paragraph) who ONLY give negative review. To clarify, I used to liked your business until all negative aspect listed below became apparent to me. Many of these aspect are even stated in MANY of the reviews (both 5 stars or 1 stars) for Kaya, this is especially true about the unfriendly staff/receptionist. I have no ill intention about your business apart from providing you some voice from your real customer for your own benefit, ie. to use this review as a tool to improve your business for future customer. However, after reading your reply, I realised that you are much prefer to hear only what you called "beautiful" 5 stars reviews. No wonder why many problem around this place never get fixed (as observed during my whole 1 year membership duration). Well, I wish you all the best for your future, and hope all future reviews could be as 'beautiful and genuinely positive" as you like it to be. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Below is my original review ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is an honest review after 1 year with Kaya Emporium. I used to love this place so much when I first join the club and used to recommend it to all of my friends, but not anymore. 1. Staff attitude: This is the WORST aspect here. Staff always looks like they hate their job and everyone around them. Not sure what is wrong with them but they able to hold that crappy attitude and still manage to keep their job somehow, amazing. They will look at you with the corner of their eye, speak to you like they don't want to. On one occasion the girl told me that the class was full (not even properly, like she is cbf to talk with me or something) and I asked her nicely to repeat what she said, then she rolled her eye and repeat it aggressively with super pissed tone. I mean, if you hate talking to people then just don't work as receptionist? 2. Cleanliness: Despite the stunning facilities, the cleanliness is seriously lacking. Especially in ladies toilet (always dirty somehow) change room always have balls of dust in there (ew) and seriously stinky eqipment in yoga studio. Im talking about the boaster and blanket. I am convinced that both of these have never been washed because it always smell horrible, especially the blanket! Also yoga studio floor always dusty and have lots of hair on the floor. 3. Classes: I love my class at Kaya and still am. Most instructors are bubbly and wonderful but due to the size of the class (mainly reformer class) it is impossible for the instructor to look after everyone and make sure you are doing things correctly. Which, as I realised half way through my contract, that it's very critical if you want to benefit from the reformer at all. They do offer introductory class but honestly a quick 3 hours fix wont make you an expert in reformer pose, so you will get it wrong anyway. The only one instructor that I have an opinion on is Jodie. I think she provide the least support to her student during class and rarely provide options/variation of the pose. Also I have to comment that you put the reformer machine way too close to each other. Lastly, I think Kaya's quality dropped significantly over the year despite a growing number of members and increasing membership fee. In my opinion, this place has lots of potential but the management is simply a disaster. Will go else where.

The facilities at Emporium are top notch, clean and modern, you generally just need a bottle and towel. I loved the yoga studio. Kaya is great for if you regularly want to attend pilates and/or yoga classes as the pricing works out to be more cost effective than most studios. Additionally you have access to gym facilities. I made the decision to pay an early exit fee due to a combination of a few things. - The responses to low rated reviews. They are, in my opinion, unprofessional. It was in reading these that I decided to just wait out my minimum term and pray I had no issues I needed to go to them for. - If you arrive within 5-10 minutes of a class there is a chance you could still be late as you have to be manually scanned in. There's normally one person on front desk so if someone has an issue, a queue forms and you have to wait. - Kaya has the highest late class cancellation fee I've seen across any gym ($35). I've only had to miss a class once in my life and unfortunately it was with Kaya! I had an overlap of gym memberships (thinking this ones term would end a year from my start date - read the contract as they push it out if you get free weeks and/or pause), and its like night and day with my new gym. Kayas great if you want some pretty facilities but you can most likely get a similar or better experience elsewhere!

Classes are great, teachers are nice and facilities are amazing! But giving it 3 stars because classes and opening hours are soooo limited. Only open for 4 hours on weekends and closes at 7:30pm on weekdays - most other gyms are open 24/7 or open until very late. Makes it really hard for me to go to Kaya as I work late nights and weekend mornings.

I have recently joined Kaya Emporium. Close friends that are members of Kaya Prahran recommended I join. I did. I’m going to say this ….one of the best decisions of my life. I’d only ever participated in clinical Pilates in the past with a Physiotherapist . It was time to hit the world of Reformer. From the moment I joined, I knew this was the place to go ! Christian and his wife Koula run the most magnificent business; a business where confronting and unfriendly practices simply don’t exist. The culture is inclusive, diverse and welcoming every step of the way. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Kaya Family. I feel so fit and well thanks to the incredible Pilates Instructors and Trained Kaya Team Members. Every employee smiles , engages in conversation and makes the journey such a pleasure to be a part of . Reema , Manager of Kaya Emporium is one of the most beautiful people you’ll ever meet . Take a moment to make an appointment with her and you’ll be captivated by her love of the business she is so dear to . Kaya will change your life ! Whether it’s Pilates , Yoga, Fitness Circuit or old school weights , Kaya has it all. The premises are spotless , memberships are price perfect and the views from the floorspace are second to none ! Love you guys !!! Keep up the fab work and let’s keep Melbourne happy , healthy and dedicated to well-being . Stephen 👍🌺♥️

I have been a member with KAYA since 2019 and I have always been impressed by the quality of service and different class experience I had. The staff and teachers are friendly, willing to help when you are struggling during the class. I feel refreshed by the end of class, especially after busy day at work. Thank you Kaya for having me. It's been a great journey.

I LOVE Kaya and have been going there for over 6 months now. For someone who gets intimidated by gyms and is injured - Kaya has been such a great option! The staff are super friendly. The classes are amazing and varied, its clean and has a great vibe to it. I thoroughly enjoy the pilates & barre classes and every trainer I have had has lots of experience, they make it fun and different every time. They are always willing to assist and find alternative moves (for injured) as well as showing moves from beginner to advanced so everyone in the class gets a good workout and can stretch their abilities. I cannot recommend this place enough! Thanks Team! I also wanted to note, I too read the comment below about Jodie and I cannot tell you how amazing her classes are! They are always full and you have to go earlier to get into her classes as they are popular. After a class with Jodie, let me tell you everything will hurt (in the best way possible!) because you get an awesome workout!!! I have knee issues and Jodie always assists me and shows me other moves so I can still participate. Thanks Jodie!

I recently had a interview with Matt who I believe is the regional manager. He came across very rude and look at me like I wasn’t good enough straight up for the role even though I probably have a lot more experience then him. He also did not even bother to contact me to say that I don’t have the job like he said he would let know either way. Stay away from this gym plenty of good gym at there who do make you feel welcome.

Edited: The studio kindly left a reply appreciating my feedback, so I thought it fair to elaborate. Disclaimer: my email address is not the same as my membership-affiliated one, as I'd like to remain anonymous. Honestly, it's a gorgeous studio, absolutely a divine experience coming in. The neutral aesthetics and softer lighting make it feel truly decadent, a real treat of a workout space, and I'm very appreciative of the effort Kaya makes to maintain that ambiance, which I think is one of their strong selling points. The amenities and toilets are also wonderful at elevating the ritual of post-workout maintenance, facilities are of high quality and are extremely clean and well-kept. The instructors are very well-trained (I speak specifically for reformer Pilates, as that is my principle form of exercise at Kaya especially). Unlike many studios (I'm looking at you, KX, especially!) the teachers are extremely well-trained to emphasize good, safe form (spinal alignment, breathing pattern with exercise, pointers about common mistakes and how to remedy them, individual corrections are a star quality as well) and giving detailed instructions and options to level up/down, but they also bring an infectious enthusiasm, are humorous, charismatic and are really welcoming and joyful about embracing exercise to cultivate a sense of well being- this is a vibe I find is so important especially if you're just entering group classes and aren't feeling very comfortable or especially, intimidated. We've all chosen to take time out of our busy lives to enjoy together a workout that makes us feel stronger, fitter and more health and I am all for it. The front counter staff are also really bubbly and every interaction is so effortless and professional. Definitely not the kind of snooty, judgemental aura you might expect from a gym with this kind of marketing angle/demographic target. I'd say I was perhaps a bit strict on deducting two stars, because the above really were standouts for me, but the limit of a class a day and the $35 cancellation fee combined were a bit of a letdown. For the fee you pay, it's not unreasonable to expect the studio to uphold their 'unlimited classes' angle and literally, enable you to book as many classes as you want, especially if you're going to be fined for missing/being late/cancelling within three hours. I don't mind being fined what is basically the cost of a weekly core membership, so long as I really can do unlimited classes but if I can only do 7 classes maximum a week, especially one each day it's really at odds with my current fitness regime of doing the occasional double, especially when my work commitments mean certain days are an absolute impossibility. With the current limitations it would be more reasonable to have a penalty system more like Virgin Active, which puts a temporary freeze on your ability to book classes if you miss a couple within 7/10 days, but fining (though I appreciate the more optimal cancellation window) alongside the 1 class/day rule is a bit of a steep setup. I know you can try for a second class if you phone a half hour before and they have places available, but if it takes me around a half-hour to make it to the studio, change and be in class before the door shuts promptly at the designated start time, its not a risk financially and time-wise I'd take. Does the club have any plans in future with the expanded class places if more reformer classes are simultaneously available of removing the 1 class/day limit? If you're a fitness junkie this is the biggest detractor, from my standpoint. As well, at least in the CBD studio, there are limited barre and yin yoga classes and usually they book out very quickly. Sometimes I'd like to do reformer and wind down with yin, or do a barre+yin combination but with the current system it's impossible, as those classes are virtually booked out. Hopefully with the influx of Barre Body instructors (especially Amy, she is fantastic, hilarious and a brilliant motivator) we will have more barre classes.

I love coming back to Kaya Emporium! Everyone is really welcoming and ready to help you! I have enjoyed the Reformer classes with Zoe, Matt and Julia. Matt is amazing, funny and makes you start your Monday in a great way, now I know why it is always booked out!! Zoe is really lovely, and Julia really cares about every member and makes sure you are doing good. Thank you for the whole Kaya Team for providing a great space and service!

I went to classes 2-3+ times a week over the course of a year and at first it was really good, there were lots of nice and patient instructors but got progressively worse. Staff have terrible attitudes. I would book the same times every week and one particular instructor would not take the class for three months if I was in it, I have no idea why and at first I thought she was maybe sick or on holiday but then other instructors who would take the class for her would give me weird looks and other regular members too. I decided to cancel my contract because I was getting a very bad vibe from people, and the particular instructor showed up and took the class. Maybe someone complained about her and she thought it was me, but it was such a strange situation, and felt like bullying. This same instructor told my friend who was experiencing back pain after a slipped disc that this is not clinical Pilates, as in she should not have to deal with trying to accommodate this during class. Then another instance where the receptionist gave me the wrong room number for the class, but everyone else the right room number. The final straw where I decided not to go back anymore even though I had two weeks left in my contract was an instructor saying to me, “my god you’re slow” when I left her class, I complained to the manager about this and not sure if anything was done, but he decided I was probably just stressed from work and should try yoga. I can’t say I would recommend this place to others who want to workout in an inclusive environment, where they feel adequately supported to reach their goals. It’s also a real shame because I had joined to try and help my anxiety, instead my anxiety was triggered ten fold by my experiences.

There is no better gym than Kaya! It is a welcoming and calming space. The staff feel like a family and they know everyone by name! The membership is also really good value - especially considering how beautiful the space is and how many classes are on offer, including reformer, barre and yoga - all of which would cost a fortune elsewhere. For over six years, Kaya has been a constant in my life throughout many ups and downs, and a lot of changes. I have always looked forward to going. The consistency has kept me grounded, and it has been the best thing for both my mental and physical health.

Been here for 2 months now - gym is extremely clean, staff are super friendly, instructors are all excellent. Special mention to Monday yoga with Guilia; my flexibility has gotten noticeably better and I really appreciate how easy it is to learn from her especially as a beginner. Overall fantastic gym, trying to get all my friends to join :)

My experience at Kaya has been amazing, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the classes and instructors are amazing! My first day at Kaya, a staff member Alyssa was kind enough to accompany me in one of the classes to help me feel comfortable and boost my confidence. Compared to the other gyms & fitness clubs I’ve been to, Kaya feels like a safe space to me as a woman. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to join!!

I and my friends have some issue with them however, the manager called me and did apologize. However, i still think staff knows terms and condition as well before talking to customer to read it. They might be ask for you charge without notice. So please read terms and condition before you join. I donot want to do blame all staffs because of few staff. Pilates class is good and other class also nice.

Kaya is truly a peaceful and beautiful space for those looking for something more than a gym. It’s a mindful retreat to start or end my day and has improved my mental & physical health tremendously. The staff are so friendly, especially Esther. This post is not sponsored, it’s just genuinely that good and I cannot recommend it enough.

The customer service is pretentious. I went in for a drop in class because i live interstate and travel for work. They only allow access to the class as the members come through, so you need to sit and wait until the very end. Silly idea, I wouldn't join even if I decided to move to Melbourne.

KAYA really is the place! I’ve been a KAYA member for many years, and am always blown away by the beauty of locations/studios, the energy and of course the amazing classes on offer. I recommend KAYA to all my family and friends not only for their amazing services mentioned above, but also for the amount of value you get with your membership. Thinking of the KAYA team during yet another lockdown and can’t wait to be able to show my support once they reopen x

I've been a member at Kaya for about 4 months and I love it. The classes are great, the staff is friendly, and the environment is very comfortable. The variety of classes is also a plus for me because I'm interested in both high-intensity exercises like fitness circuits and less intense classes like Pilates. Highly recommend.

I love the pilates classes so much, it fits my uni schedule really well. the teachers are also super friendly. When i applied the program Lauren helped me a lot and explain how the program worked. overall a 10/10 experience, I highly recommend :))

I have been thoroughly enjoying the Pilates classes and Barre sessions. The instructors have been fantastic, and the sessions have been challenging. After a month of consistent practice, I have noticed improvements in my posture and overall body shape. However, due to my busy schedule with my studies, I haven't been able to attend classes as frequently as I would like. Currently, I can make it to two classes per week, but sometimes I found it can be challenging to find suitable time slots. I wanted to suggest if it would be possible to have more classes available from around 1 pm to 4 pm. This would greatly help individuals like me who have limited availability in the evenings and mornings.

I highly recommend Kaya if you are interested in reformer Pilates. There is a Foundations class which is free for members which provides the theory as well as practical tips about the operation of the equipment and then a workout. If you are new to reformer this really helps you feel confident in classes. Plus all of the instructors offer easier or more challenging options so that all levels are catered for. It seems like I haven’t done the same exercise twice yet as there is always so much variety.

A beautiful, clean and modern gym. I found the membership very affordable for what you get in return. Unlimited reformer, barre, yoga and fitness classes, plus access to a small gym. Staff always helpful and friendly. Just remember to book classes in advance as they are sometimes tricky to get into. Late cancellation fees are really high which is my only issue, but it makes you show up!

Cannot rate Kaya high enough. Incredible quality for price. Instructors are all quality, bring a beautiful depth to practice (particularly Yoga) and ensure your form is accurate to avoid injury. Special shout-out to Beata for guiding my yoga practice in such a heartfelt, fun and conscientious way. I always leave Kaya feeling better than I went in. Many thanks to the team. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Kaya is a lovely, welcoming space with wonderful teachers and classes. 45 minutes doesn't seem long yet I'm always sore after, but the good kind sore! I've definitely seen changes in my physical and mental health too. Absolutely recommend to anyone thinking of joining.

Amazing pilates gym. The environment is polished and clean, the staff are attentive and the booking system is easy to use. I had a good experience with most instructors and found them to be welcoming and knowledgeable. I am regrettably now moving gyms due to work movements, otherwise I would have continued here on an ongoing basis.

A very honest review of KAYA in Melbourne CBD! Positives: - Classes/instructors are super efficient and staff are very friendly (particular shoutout to Matt Culley, best instructor imo!!) - Very modern & clean environment - Good central location for before/after work sessions. - Weekly fee is affordable compared to most other Pilates studios (you can book as many classes as you want and they also offer fitness/boxing classes & standard gym equipment). I was on the 12 month membership and paid $70 fortnightly. Negatives: - Any offer that states a “free” period when you join KAYA, you’ll end up having to pay for at the end of your membership. I joined on an “8 week free” offering and am still continuing to pay the fortnightly fee despite my 12 month membership ending. Found this super deceiving and I’ve never previously experienced a gym doing this. - If you don’t show up to a class you’ve booked or don’t cancel your booking within the 2 hours before the class starts, you get charged $30. Ridiculous cost when you’re already paying a weekly price imo. Don’t recommend KAYA for anyone who doesn’t have a flexible schedule! - Classes are booked very quickly so you need to book at least 3 days in advance to ensure you get the time you want.

I started at Kaya in December last year and I wish I’d joined sooner! I have chronic issues with my tailbone and regular reformer Pilates has helped so much! The facilities are clean and unlike other gyms. Three months without Kaya due to Covid-19 and the pain came back, so glad classes have started again (also the post lockdown management has been fantastic!) all the instructors are great but Chloe’s classes are my favourite, she is a ray of sunshine and always smiling! Her classes are effective and I always find myself laughing :)

A few elite events ago, I won a 3 months gym membership at Kaya, which was awesome - I love training and I'd always wanted to have a go at PIlates and Yoga. Kaya is renowned for both and there's a reason why they are the Melbourne Storm's preferred gym.... To put it simply, the staff (PT, Pilates and Yoga instructors) are very experienced, love what they do, have state of the art facilities and the gym is owned by Christian Ruggeri and his wife Koula who are passionate about their gig so.... Kaya is a fully equipped gym with weights and cardio areas so you have your weights, chins, bench, treadmills, rowers, bikes and foam rollers for a good stretch to name a few. I've used Kaya mainly for PIlates and I love it. I go to Gaynor's classes on Satuday arvo and I love it. I do a lot of high intensity and weight training so Pilates helps me work on my posture and strengthen my core. I really like how Gaynor's always on the lookout for any movement that we might be doing incorrectly and she fixes us accordingly. The treadies are cool, you have your personalised screen and you can choose a broad range of themes and terrains which is great. It's more of a challenge and is less boring. So... If you live in the area and want to get fit or if you're shopping for a new gym, pop in and have a chat to Christian - he's really nice and he'll sort you out.

Kaya have changes my lifestyle. I’ve joined a few other gyms before but never really serious as I feel a bit intimidated in a normal gym environment. I first joined kaya in early August where I felt like my work has taken affect on my wellbeing and I’m really glad that I decided to join Kaya. Kaya is like no other place that I’ve been to before, I feel safe in Kaya. I’ve been going to Kaya almost everyday. The get to learn from pilate instructors such as Jose, Matt, Emma to name a few is so worth it, they really push and teach you. Never done pilate before in my whole life and I’m now doing it almost every day. As for yoga, I’ve only been to few classes with yoga teacher Jess and Manuela and it were so good. Thank you to all the teachers at Kaya!!! :)

Kaya has exceeded my expectations in every way. I was pretty hesitant joining a gym as I'd never done a fitness class or even set foot in a gym before! Fast track to now, six months later, and pilates has become one of my most favourite things! I'm a full time uni student, and the best part of my day is always popping in to Kaya for a class to switch off for a bit and do something good for my body. Every pilates instructor I've come across here have been extremely knowledgeable, kind and approachable (Natalya and Jayde's classes are top notch). Pilates is always challenging, which I LOVE, but I always leave feeling like a badass ? To top it all off, the space itself is beautiful, elegant, clean and it smells nice - I literally want to be a member here forever ? Thank you for creating this wonderful place xx

Kaya is absolutley amazing! ... Even now during the pandemic restrictions they have blown me away with incredible digital content and absolute care for all their clients. I've never felt so supported and looked after as with Kaya Health Clubs, I can't wait to be able to get back physically to train with the team. Outstanding

Lovely space with well maintained equipment and great class options. Instructors have always been friendly and helpful - inclusive and provide options in classes for every level. Definitely recommend taking the intro classes for yoga and pilates. Handling of closure and flexibility with return dates has been incredible and makes me super keen to get back when I can. We were charged no fees during shut down without question and still provided creative content to keep us moving.

I've been a member for four years and have really valued Kaya's service, facilities and amazing staff. I attended mainly Pilates and Yoga which was fantastic for strength, flexibility and well-being. I was also pregnant while attending classes and felt supported by staff and very strong for the pregnancy and after. Thank you Kaya

I've loved Kaya since the moment I walked in. Everyone is friendly and non pretentious. Facilities are amazing. Teachers are professional and explain everything in detail. Intro courses are an excellent idea. A special thanks to Jodie, Chloe, Jose, Jess, Michelle and everyone I had classes with. I am now living somewhere else but even over the phone customer service is at its best. Hope to come back or see you around. As a foreigner living in Australia I have never felt more included. THANK YOU!!! Angie

Fabulous gym, staff were always helpful. But not worth the stress of there “contract”. Kaya would have a lot more people joining if it wasn’t so money hungry. Obviously I understand bills and staff must be paid but the level of greediness is unforgiving. I had to return to Ireland for a family emergency and Kaya customer care has been nothing but a headache since I left. Zero empathy shown or level of understanding. Especially given the current pandemic I’m still receiving these emails looking for money. My Australian account is closed and I’m currently unemployed. *The exiting fee is too expensive, given the fortnightly price of the membership there is no need to have the exiting fee of more then 100$* *members should be verbally made aware of exiting free at time of sign up* No option to freeze membership either unless you want to pay a monthly price at a “reduced rate” why would I pay for something I can’t use no matter how reduced the rate is. I might just throw my money in the bin to avoid the hassle. I’m in a different continent? I also hoped to return in December 2020 and would have loved to continue my membership but now I’m fed up with the harassment emails looking money ^hints this review^. I won’t be giving them a cent more.. Wouldn’t recommend Kaya incase it’s not obvious after this review. Hope this email will help Kaya to grow and develop business skills instead of hounding me again for money. It has so much potential to be the best gym in Melbourne.... all the staff were excellent. The classes were brilliant. It’s clearly the management that needs to tone down the money grabbing .

The team at Kaya Emporium are wonderful, friendly & professional instructors. I would like to make a special mention to Jemma Masters who teachers yoga on Saturday’s & wish she was on more during the week! She is absolutely outstanding, experienced and extremely kind. Her classes are my absolute favourite at Kaya. I look forward to Jemma’s class all week as she is an absolute positive ray of light! I would like to mention some other wonderful instructors also such as Jayde, Jess Jones, Wendy, Andrea and of course Matt. They are extremely accommodating & make people feel comfortable & welcome every time! I am so grateful to Kaya and to these wonderful inspirational people that make Kaya feel like a sanctuary. Highly recommended it.

I previously wrote a negative review about Kaya and the quality of service, since this experience Kaya and its staff have been incredibly helpful and understanding and I can confidently recommend this health club to people looking for a gym that cares about its members. The facility itself is clean and very modern, and the staff have proven to be very helpful. The classes themselves are very fun and motivating Thanks Kaya!

I joined Kaya mainly for pilates as I have a couple of injuries. The pilates lessons provide a really huge positive health benefit, gained strength in a short period of time. The instructors are professional and very mindful of the members individual needs. Staff are lovely, amenities are five star, best club I've been part of, makes you want to train daily. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

I’ve been a member of Kaya since 2019, and I joined for the yoga classes. Since then I do both Pilates and yoga, and I’m addicted ! I love how the teachers emphasis the importance of looking after oneself, no one has ever mentioned “weight loss”. Everyone at Kaya just wants you to be healthy in your mind and body. Also the smell is amazing, and you feel instantly calm when you walk in.

I have been training here for about 2 months now and I don’t feel like missing a day. I start my day with Kaya and the finest trainers they have help me get the best start to any given day. I love the high intensity training pattern and the attitude the trainers carry. The club has plenty of training options to choose from and you don’t end of doing the same everyday. I highly recommend this place to everyone out there looking for the best health club in Melbourne.

I've been a member of Kaya for over 4 years and thoroughly enjoy the classes on offer in particular Jose's circuit and pilates reformer classes. I've referred many of my friends and they've all had a wonderful experiences at Kaya. I attend both the Prahran and Emporium gym and whilst the Prahran member service experience has always been exceptional, I do feel that the Emporium is slightly lacking but overall, a great, well maintained gym!

Lovely atmosphere with modern and up to date facilities. Classes are a great motivator to work that little bit harder than you would otherwise. Last week I tried out KĀYA and a couple of their classes. They had great customer service, I didn’t love the class card system though, they should have app. Overall I chose to not stay as they had an over all vibe I didn’t think fit with me. It felt very corporate and even though the price and reformer classes were good i didn’t like their barre class and the loud music and microphones. If you like the gym this place will work well with you but like me if you like specialty classes I’d go to a boutique business.

  • 3/5 Matt L. 5 years ago on Google
Do not go to Kaya Emporium if you are Asian. There is a gym trainer here, her name is Jodie, goes to Asians in the class and be littles them. Either she does it to make herself better-maybe recovering from heroin or something, she looks like that, or she has some other problems. In anyway, the customers are not the punching bag. The rest of the trainers so opposite to her. Down to earth and lovely. Reception is a mixed bag. Some trainers classes are delight to attend. After, you feel so good, refreshed. Sadly the management now and then bring some trainers that do not have any clue about the class. And ofcourse there is also Jodie that you end up leaving the class stressed, not achieved something, and not wanting to go back! That 3 stars for excellent pilates and yoga PT.

Love Kaya since I joined two motnhs ago, I encouraged a friend to join and now my bf is looking into it too! I love the clubs atmosphere, nothing like those loud music clubs with bulky gym junkies walking around. Kaya looks more like a spa, has discrete music and very chic decorations. It is truly a moment of relaxation to go there and I look forward to it every time. All the instructors are great too, (especially Matt!) I also wanted to react on a disgusting comment that I saw here about Jodie, to anyone reading it please disregard it, Jodie is a lovely person, a great instructor, she has never belittled anyone.

I've been a member of Kaya Health Clubs for over two years and can honestly say that they offer an exceptional level of service - not just on the day I've joined, by consistently on a daily basis. Further, when I first joined, I took up additional Personal Training sessions with Emma, who has carefully tailored an exceptional program where I was able to see results within 3 months. Fast forward 1.5 years, I've taken up Personal Training sessions with Emma again, as I am confident that she will bring me the best results. My glute muscles are sore as I type this review. I can confidently recommend Kaya and their services to all my friends and family who are looking for a health club to join!

I joined the Kaya health club for in 2017 and absolutely enjoy going to the reformer Pilates and fitness circuit classes. The club provides a high-end, classy and clean environment which inspired me to come for the workout 5 days a week. The admin staff are welcoming and always give a warm greeting on arrival and departure. More importantly, I don’t feel intimidate coming to the gym as the beginner. The instructors are very professional, pay careful attention to participants and provide helpful advice to avoid injury. I always enjoy going to Pilates class with Matt Culley and Jose, and Fitness Circuit class with Kat, Lauren C & G, and PT session with Emma. Special thanks to Matt Culley for not only giving all the pain after his class:D (I know …no pain, no gain). He has given me so much needed inspiration and encouragement to work harder towards achieving my fitness goal and a better toned healthy body. Keep up the great work Matt.

I really like this place. It’s modern, clean and has a spa vibe about it - especially the bathrooms and the little amenities they provide! The staff there are really lovely too, and while I’m hopeless at Pilates, I do get a class in occasionally. The gym equipment is good too because the club isn’t that old, so everything still seems new. Great location as well... you can shop, eat, Pilates, repeat! :-)

If you want pilates to be more exciting by having an instructor slam a classroom door in your face, then this is the health club for you. My wife's workplace recommended this place for pilates. Everything went well in terms of booking in, showing us around etc, seemed very pleasant. On the morning of our first class, my wife had a bad fall on the way to Kaya; just an accident. We called and explained what happened, and so the club bumped us up to a class kicking off 15 minutes later; very nice of them we thought. When we finally arrived, they told us they only had space for one of us. Not what they said over the phone, but since we were inadvertently delayed due to my wife's fall, we had no expectations of being squeezed in. They said they would wait to see if anyone else didn't show up and let us know. When they told us we could both go in, we immediately walked to the class entrance, literally 4 metres away, and the instructor slammed the door in our faces. We explained this to the reception, politely asking what on earth had happened and the receptionist's reply was "we have a policy that once the door to a class is shut, nobody can go in". Wow. It takes a particularly bad sort of human being to slam the door in anyone's face, but slamming the door in the face of someone walking into a pilates class is really quite something. I dread to think what's going on in the instructor's head that she honestly thought that was OK, especially from someone apparently working in health, wellness and injury prevention. Very sorry my wife fell over on the way to our pilates class guys, and that your instructor felt the need to slam the door in our faces because of it. Curiously, the lady who showed us around Kaya yesterday told me that my own workplace, as distinct from my wife's, used to also have an arrangement with Kaya but that my workplace had "stopped returning her calls". I think you'll find that if you slam doors in people's faces, many more people and businesses will stop returning your calls.

Kaya is everything I look for in a gym. The classes are fun, the teachers are engaging and the staff are helpful. The Pilates classes are beginner friendly but if you are looking for a challenge, the instructors are very good at providing modifications to the workouts. The environment of Kaya is very calming.
