Bad place for beginners. I joined this place thinking that I can lose weight and learn a new skill. That was a very expensive mistake. They put a whole lot of people of varied fighting experiences and fitness levels into the same "Beginners" class. And they randomly pair you with others in the class, with little instruction on the different moves. And in those rare times that the instructor helps you out, the whole class comes to a standstill and others just stare on like I should just pick this stuff up myself. Also, like someone pointed out, the person you are paired with, can sometimes be very rude and refuse to train with you.

One of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever come across. I booked in my 12 year old daughter to do boxing as she asked to learn, I'd heard of George Kolovos over the years and decided to try his center. Biggest mistake I made, their trainer Steve was asked to sort out a uniform for my daughter, he stood there looking at her , judging her on her weight glaring and making rude remarks and uttering that there may not be a shorts big enough to fit her, was making snide comments for awhile, my daughter and everyone else that was around the counter could not only see his actions towards her but hear him also. My daughter had tears in her eyes and wanted to leave. Dissapointed is not enough to describe how we felt. My daughter had been bullied, mentally and physically in school for years, she had developed an eating disorder and it took months upon months for her to recover and build enough strength to want to do this, and Steve destroyed all her hard work within minutes. No matter a child's weight, height, race no one should be made to feel the way Steve treated her. His discriminated and disrespected his judgemental look and snide remarks shows he shouldn't be around people let alone children, I also asked to see his working with children's card and nothing has been shown. I was told the owner would get back to me, that an apology letter would've been emailed. I'm not surprised as while he was doing this the manager could not only see him and hear him but she also acknowledged his actions. I now have to make sure ny daughter doesn't go back into habits and fall into another eating disorder.

My son is 6 and I was struggling finding a nice and close place for my son to learn Karate. I tried two different Karate class. The Class is very strict and my son just scared of going back to the class. I know discipline is one of the important parts of Karate but first of all my son need to like it. Thank to "Fight Club", after my son tried one class, he like it very much. The staff is very kindly and experienced. They are very patient and encouraging. The price is very good, especially in the city. Three classes per week if you join the membership. Highly recommended for kids to learn Karate.

The organisation is well run and the Karate is very strong. I've been going nearly 8 years and training is always friendly and tough. Shihan Kolovos is renowned throughout the Asia Pacific region as an excellent instructor. Like any martial art or sport, you get out what you put in. Never had a bad experience, ever.

Pretty average gym and facilities. No fighters level here. Just beginners boxercise. There are much higher quality gyms in the city. This gym seems stuck in its past glory days.

They are thieves. I signed up for a 6week program…only did two sessions, I told them I had injury from beginning. My injury got worse and they refused to refund me. I’m still in the process of getting my money back by going through the court system. 0 stars.

Worst experience ! I signed up to the full membership with the hope to learn BJJ. I made sure to enquire that the classes would be suited to beginners such as I. However from the very first lesson the interaction I had with the instructor was horrible. He was simply rude and somehow treated new me a new comer as not warranting his attention. The second lesson i had he decided to make me stand by a self left with a choice of either doing the exercises the other experiences students were doing or stand there looking like a fool without instruction. This was humiliating and I had enough, I regret signing up to this gym and shane on fight club for creating an environment where instructors deter people from trying something new. All this with the hefty price tag $120/month this experience left a sour taste !

Great place to train if you are a experienced or start martial arts if you are beginner. Whether it’s be boxing, BJJ, muay thai you have great coaches like Hamza and George, they will help you and guide you to improve all the time. Best part is you have flexible timings throughout the week. I’m really enjoying my training here and hope to improve my boxing more along the journey. Highly recommend to everyone πŸ˜„

This place is a massive ripoff they tried to make me pay a $300 exit fee which is not my fault due to covid lockdown that had to shut there business so I refused to pay the fee covid lockdown was no fault of mine. So they sent my account to dept collected and now I'm left with a massive $2500 fee. just in time for COVID debts. I absolutely would not recommend this place.

My 20th year at this karate club. World class kyokushin training by well respected and renowned instructors. From kids to grand parents, white belts to shihans, first-dayers to fifth-decaders, there is a place here to learn and enjoy. A wonderful team environment and friendly (but disciplined) atmosphere where you're on a first name basis with all students within your first couple of classes. Not feeling karate on a particular day? Try boxing, try kickboxing, try muay thai, try bjj, try arnis! The variety here for your martial arts journey is unparalleled. I've made lifelong friends, found love, formed a karate family with my daughters at this club. I plan to grow old with this club. Come join my journey. You will find that you'll end up starting your own! OSU Sempai John

Great classes and trainers. My 2 stars is due to poor management of my membership. Before going on holiday I've asked how early was I supposed to give notice, in order to avoid all the mess that has happened. I've been told 1 WEEK from the staff. Come back from holiday, give notice, call the direct debit service they use to cancel and I get told it's 30 days notice, not 1 week. Went to the gym and asked around what were my options. Been told from the owner "I don't know anything about it" and everyone washed their hands. Could have offered a PT session or two and meet in the middle. As the staff was saying over and over "your contract says 30 days".

Went here to do boxing training during my vacation. Very welcoming place, from the reception staff to the trainers, and all the different trainers give good trainings, very well led and organized, with plenty of focus on proper technique. Good culture overall, the other participants were also generally a pleasure to train with. Did some PT sessions with Quentin, learned a lot and had loads of fun. Couldn't recommend the place more!

I am delighted to share my positive experience with Melbourne Fight Club. From the moment I walked in with my son, we were greeted by George and his team, who made us feel welcome and supported throughout our fitness journey. The trainers are well-informed, professional, and friendly. Adult and child training classes are well-structured and motivating, and the equipment is top-notch. I strongly recommend Melbourne Fight Club to anyone looking for a friendly, supportive, and effective fitness and martial arts centre in Melbourne CBD. This is my favourite martial arts place in melbourne. I had tried others over the years and Fight Club are great with focusing on technique as well as strength and endurance. I have been doing the muai thai classes for a year and even though I don't want to compete they still teach everyone the proper technique. The trainer comes around and will give u positive feedback or correct your moves where needed. The trainers and staff are fantastic and the members are all friendly. I would highly recommend Fight Club to anyone, beginner or experienced. Thanks George, Dan and team :)

Love the vibe in this gym, we've come in a couple times and came for a trial a couple weeks ago just to see our old trainer and check out the facilities and honestly I wish we could train here everyday. Unfortunately a bit far from home and work, but if it wasn't I might even be here twice a day. So many classes and choices of activities to do. Way cleaner than other gyms I've been to, with a huge womens change room, which I guess is similar to the mens. They have several showers and heaps of lockers, toilets within the change rooms and racks to hang your stuff. The price per week is nothing compared to the service that you get, the trainers, receptionists, other members, gym area, stuff you can borrow for free, amount of choice and variety... It's seriously the best I think you'll find in Melbourne. Heaps similar to it, but nothing that ticks all of those boxes.

Within one hour of signing up they sent spam to my mobile phone, after I told them explicitly not to do that. I haven't even gone to one class yet and I had to ring them already to make a complaint. I regret giving them my real mobile number. I suggest if you join their gym you give them a fake mobile number unless you like your mobile blasted with advertisements.

I came here out of sheer compulsion and desperation to work on my existing Pradal Serey skills which were similar to Muay Thai. I'm glad I went here to train as this was one of the best choices of my life. I never thought I could improve if it weren't for George and his staff as well as the mates I made as we trained together. I haven't been to the gym in ages, for that I'm sorry, but the habits I developed from your training, I still use it to this day after a typical strength training session or every morning at school if I'm late for the class at the gym. I would've been here 5-6 days a week if it weren't for the increase workload at school. But in short, everyone here is super helpful, respectful and made me believe in myself a lot more than before. P.S you guys are the best.

Good gym with competent instruction and good facilities. Oriented slightly more towards striking than grappling (I’d say 60/40 striking/grappling) but that isn’t to say anything negative about their bjj program, which I train in. Most of the training out of the cbd location is oriented towards white belt nogi techniques, whereas the training at the malvern location does more intermediate gi techniques. I’ve seen nothing but professionalism and competence from the instructors I’ve learnt from and I would recommend them to someone who wants to start jiujitsu. I have far less experience with the thai boxing and boxing programs, doing mostly beginner classes with a couple intermediate classes, but I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the instruction and classes with them as well. Overall a very solid gym that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in training casually or getting started in martial arts. I can’t speak to how good a place it is to fight out of or train more seriously because I just don’t have the experience to do it honestly.

Our son was diagnosed as mild to moderate autistic as a 4yo. He started school as a 5yo and had poor grades. We found out that he was bullied when we saw bruises on his body and questioned where they came from. Laurence started karate as a late 5yo. He was a little slow to join in initially but after a few months he started to enjoy the routine. The trainers enforced strict discipline but to not push any kids beyond their capabilities. We could see Laurence’s confidence building as well as his physical strength. He could now defend himself against bullies. You can see Laurence in the photo below. He won a first and second at a recent tournament. This adds to his many previous trophies. His self confidence has gone through the roof. Not just at karate, but also in life. He has developed a strong work ethic at school and his grades have progressed from well below average to average and are on the up. He has progressed from a kid that didn’t fit in and one to bully to being a confident and popular kid with lots genuine friends. We attribute a lot of this to the Melbourne Fight Club.

I signed up my children to train karate 2 years ago. After a couple of months of being a mere class observer of great coaching, safe environment and good culture, I decided to give it a try and join in myself. One of my best decisions in life, I lost 10kgs the first few months and can see my fitness improving consistently over time. I'm now in the best shape in my life, being in my 40s :) This is not a modern sterile gym where you go do your workout with your headphones and go home without interacting with anyone. It's a place you train and over time build relationships with a training 'family' that is very inclusive no matter your age/experience/disabilities/limitations. From a karate stand point, we are very lucky to have Shihan George and Shihan Peter, together with all the senseis and sempais, keeping the kyokushin style alive, respecting all dojo traditions and constantly motivating everyone for improvement in technique and ability. I encourage everyone to give it a try, it's never too late ;)

The quality of the instruction here extend far beyond the ordinary gym experience. George and Hamzah extensive knowledge and expertise is impressive. They make sure every person, regardless of their skill level, get attention and the necessary instructions to improve. I strongly suggest PT muay thai sessions with Hamzah, these changed my life with significant positive improvements in my mentality, discipline, focus and overall well-being.
