Really tasty and indulgent snack - the Sea Salt and Honey Cruller is great. However, too greasy and sugary for me to have this again. But this is pure personal preference. Worth a try though!

Perfectly balanced donuts. The texture was just right. The perfect amount of moisture and airiness in the dough. The sweet donuts have a very nice subtle aftertaste to them, and definitely not overwhelmingly sweet. The savory donuts are still on the sweeter side, but it’s something that I kinda expected for a donut place anyway. The coffee was also pretty good.

Best donuts so far in Melbourne! The Maple Walnut & Brown Butter was by far the best. We loved them with the only exception being the Australian Honey & Sea Salt - far too oily. The rest were fab and the service was well above par 🥳

Basically perfect service and mouthwatering donuts, there's really nothing to hate about them. They've got plenty of donors on offer, and there's something for everyone. There 9 varieties on offer today and the family I brought the donuts for were delighted by my gifts. That's how good they are. Their staff members are also very well trained, to the point where they can tell me, without skipping a beat, which flavor they would recommend. The box is also very presentable, making their donuts the perfect gift for recipients with a surplus of exquisite booze and really don't need anything from good ol' Dan's. I couldn't recommend this place more. 5/5

Came here for their coffee. I ordered a large flat white for $6. Loved it! 🤩 Didn’t order any of their donuts but I’ll come back to give it a try!

Take a donut shop that you should not miss 🍩 Their donuts are made fresh daily. Coffee is also amazing roasted with a special recipe. Eat with soy organic milk. I can tell you that it's very delicious. Coffee and donuts go together perfectly. Perfect combination.

Simply the best donut I've ever had. Krispy Kreme was my favorite but now we have a new king. The handmade, quality aspect of these donuts but with the same chewy, fluffy, and deliciously sweet taste and texture of a krispy style donut won me over. I saw them literally cracking dozens of eggs in a bowl too hand make the donuts. I tried the vanilla bean flavor and I can highly recommend as a starter and for someone that doesn't want a crazy sweet or over the top style donut,, but they have a number of flavors. Note: the restaurant isn't made to sit down unfortunately.

It's the best donuts I've ever had. The choice of donuts is diverse. It won't be too sweet and won't be greasy to eat. Everything is just right… I like lemon and chocolate it tastes so good. I'll go back when I want to eat a donut. ❤️❤️❤️

Perfectly flavored donuts, we ordered the Fluffernuter and Raspberry Creme Brulee which I think was a limited flavor for that month and the staff really recommended that we try those, so we did. They both tasted exactly how I imagined them to be but what I loved about them is that they weren't overwhelmingly sweet so we were able to enjoy and finish them without much guilt. They also did not taste greasy/oily which made it all the more enjoying for us. Of course, we also had our coffee and I had my regular flat white which has never disappointed me. Though the place is a bit small so there was only a few tables to sit on but I guess most people order here for take out because you would want to order a lot and share with more people anyway.

A short stop on my way to work. Staffs are polite and friendly. Well made coffee, focusing on many donates only. I have tried a few different flavours. They are not too sweet, very yummy. Has a bit oily smell in the store due to the deep frying I guess? Overall recommend😁

I really love your donuts but this time I cannot continue. Got 2 hairs inside it. First one very tiny but second one comes with root.

My favourite place for freshly made, high-quality donuts in the city. Shortstop also offers great tasting coffees served by friendly staff and a nice minimalist ambience.

stumbled across a little coffee and donut nook, and thought I’d see what all the fuss was about. To my surprise, it was one of the tastiest and fluffiest donuts that I’ve ever tasted. Coffee was top teir aswell. I would recommend highly to anyone who wants a little bit of coffee and donut aesthetic - staff were very nice and inviting too. 10/10

Been in love with Shortstop back in Sydney, and I am so happy to know that I can get my favourite doughnut in Melbourne. I recommend the early grey ones, and even the glazed ones are better than the one you get from that big chain store, at least to me personally.

Went here after going to the (awesome cat cafe). Double ristretto was well balanced and had good aromas. The piccolo latte was good too.

Not a bad coffee/donut shop. Lemon meringue has a very strong lemon flavour. But the matcha was really good. Worth a visit.

Coffee is pretty good, and is our friend's favourite! We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the doughnuts were. The rose earl grey, matcha cheesecake, maple walnut, honey cruller and chocolate one were 👌👌 would definitely go back!

A lot to like. The run of the mill doughnuts like the vanilla bean and Boston cream are tasty. The Rose Early Grey was beautiful and relatively unique. Do not however be deceived by the crullers. I bought a honey and iced coffee cruller and was really disappointed. They look delicious but are loaded with oil. The paper the crullers were on glistens with oil and even opening the crullers themselves you can just see the oil shining on the dough. We couldn’t finish them…Everything else was really nice, but the crullers were really disappointing.

Bought it for the first time. ****** Boom 🔥🔥 ***** I have tried four donuts. peanut butter caramel & chocolate - 7/10 Earl Grey and rosé - 5/10 Australian honey and sea salt (churro - oily) - 10/10 Maple walnut and brown butter - 9/10 comparison: Krispy-creme donuts ~3$ each and just oka-ish. Short stop ~6$ each and couple of them are 🔥🔥

Been here many many times. Always great coffee. Tried numerous donuts but all time favourite is still the simple Australian Honey & Sea Salt and the New Orleans Ice Coffee Crullers.

Visited to try out some donuts. The shop was nice, quiet, and clean. They had a variety of donuts. I bought the iced coffee and mandarin ones for $13. I thought the iced coffee would be crunchy from how it looked but it was suuuuuper soft. A little oily in my opinion but with the frosting it was such a soft and tasty one. The mandarin was also nice. No filling inside though. The icing was the flavor. It was a nice place.

It is a great place to have a donuts with coffee. Sweet and sour taste, soft and fluffy for the plum donut I bought. Must have for donuts lovers.

We came today for donuts - both of them are delicious!!! We like the donuts are not too sweet and not too oily- they deliver 100%! Would like to come back and try other flavors. Cozy atmosphere, great spot to take a break and have a chat with friends. It’s quite busy but not too noisy.

Love me a donut whenever I can find one - tried short stop in Sydney and I was swoon! Visited Melbourne and had to get a short stop. Tad disappointing as it wasn’t as good as the store in Sydney - donuts felt/tasted a lot oilier - can’t quite figure out if it was trapped oil in the donut, or old oil use. My go to is the Australian honey and sea salt cruller - love this flavour.

I recently visited a cafe in Melbourne known for its exceptional donuts, and I must say, they did not disappoint. The donuts were absolutely delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors, a light and fluffy texture, and delightful toppings. The cafe itself had a cozy atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you're a fan of donuts, this place is a must-visit in Melbourne.

I am usually a normal cow milk coffee drinker but I have had the oat milk latte twice in the last week here and it’s perfect. Two different baristas and perfect lattes each time 👌. The staff are patient even when it’s busy they are really polite and personable. Went with the recommendation of the New Orleans Iced Coffee Cruller and I can def recommend loved the texture and flavour. They have comfortable seating areas both inside and out so it’s a great place to hang out if you are with one other person or by yourself.

Best donuts ever. Shortstop is still consistent after years of not returning to Melbourne. Their light and fluffy raised donuts are one of the best I’ve had and I’ll be sure to return.

  • 5/5 Jeremiah B. 7 months ago on Google
Without a doubt, my top pick for donuts in Melbourne CBD. A must-try is their maple walnut and brown butter donut – it's likely the best donut I've ever tasted. Highly endorsed, I find myself returning repeatedly despite the added carbs!

Nice donuts! Many options, triple matcha was not traditional matcha taste though. The taste was good!

Minimalist cafe with seating for about 4 groups. They had amazing coffee and a selection of donuts. They were almost all gone by 3pm on a Sunday when we arrived. I managed to get the last maple walnut and brown butter one which was absolutely amazing. Lots of people getting take away coffees.

My choice of best donut in Melbourne for 2023 so far, and I've been having a lot of them all over the place. Staff is friendly and we were served with sparkling water for free with our donuts. Tried the normal doughnut and cake doughnut type for contrast. Both were amazing despite us coming there with expectations. Great dessert, they were both light and filling, quite the paradox. Will visit again.

A true Melbourme establishment that's held up over the years. Really good doughnuts and coffee was sound too. It's easy to see why they are still around. They haven't moved from their original high standards. I had the baked lychee doughnut this time. Admittedly, it's been a while since I last visited. However, it's just as good as ever. There was an epic selection of fried or baked doughnuts, I guess it just depends on what you fancy. Flavours are bold and balanced, and those circles of joy really hit the spot. Coffee is from Market Lane. My coffee was tasty. It was prepared well, and the girl really seemed to enjoy her job. They have nice retail to buy too. The store is beautiful, relaxed pastel colours and a wooden exterior. I'll be back again soon.

Cute little cafe serving donuts and coffee. We loved the matcha donut and orange poppy seed donut. Coffees were good, but they don’t do cappuccinos (no chocolate powder) and no almond milk (only oat). So any coffee you order is a latte 😄 But overall worth a visit 🩷

Accurate name! Worth for a quick stop and a sweet bite. Had a great coffee and that thing covered in bacon and maple syrup that made my mouth water. Congratulations to the team!

Very cute and delicious donuts. The earl grey and rose one surprised me when I ate it because inside it tasted like it had abit of apples which was yummy. The australian honey and sea salt donut melted in my mouth omg. I had a good experience. It's also very relaxing here.

Cute donut place hidden in the alley. Yummy donuts 🍩. I got a maple almond donut which was delicious but more on the sweet side. Pairs nicely with coffee. Dine in area is very small and limited.

Amazing donuts! The tartness of the lemon is noticeable but nicely balanced with the frosting on top. Their coffee is also pretty good!

  • 4/5 MM 1 year ago on Google
Stumbled across this little cafe while walking in the city, it’s small inside but room to dine in. I ordered a small late and the walnut donut for $11.50. It was a large donut so worth the price in my opinion. Dough was dense but soft, kept me full for hours!!

First time here today and loved my coffee, wish I had brought my larger keep cup! Not many manage to nail oat milk but Shortstop did. They were sold out of donuts so now I need to come back for more coffee and to try some of these donuts too!

Donuts. That's all I can say. Delicious amazing donuts. I love their standard sugar donut but with their ever changing menu they have a donut for everyone.

Had one of the maple walnut ones today (fresh) and it absolutely blew my mind, I didn’t think donuts could actually be this good it was seriously crazy. I then thought what better way to score some brownie points with the missus and bought her home a triple matcha. Let’s just say she was very very happy.
