Horrible. I was really disappointed in my experience here. After being seated, several people seated after us were served and received their food and drinks before our order was even taken. When they were nearly finished with their meal, we decided to leave, and only then was our order taken. This was about 20 minutes after being seated. We noticed so many people seated after us being served promptly, I was struggling to understand why we weren't served, and instead were completely ignored. Other customers were well accommodated and checked on throughout their meal. This was not our experience. It was quite busy and they seemed short on staff, so I understand mistakes can happen, but no apologies or even acknowledgements were offered for this poor experience. When we finished our meal and got up to pay, the server who ignored us for the entirety of our visit immediately went to clear our seats, so they definitely knew we were there. We were simply treated horribly. Finally, the quality of the food relative to the expense was rather low, which was surprising for the area. I really wanted to enjoy my time here, but I can't recommend it, due to the selectively poor service.

Proud mary, aunty peg cafe with milk based menu and food. 4 group synesso spotted alongside with mazzer and mahlkonig ek43. Their food is quite good but the portion quite small

Having tried Proud Mary's coffee in different cafes in Sydney, I was so excited to visit their OG store in Melbourne. I had very positive first impressions: the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the potato hash, which had the perfect mix of protein and carbs, with bacon poached eggs and potatoes (obviously!). It was a tasty and filling dish. Of course, I didn't leave without having a coffee, which was excellent! I'll definitely be keen to come back again!

Melbournian Brunch through and through, can’t get any better. An absolute surprising highlight was Proude’s Porridge. The lemon zest, black berries, and confit apples gave it a fantastic taste but the earl grey crème lifted it to a perfect level. The poached Tahini Eggs came on fresh toasted sourdough with a lovely yogurt pesto topped with cucumbers, parsley, and chilli. The avo toast with a perfect poached egg on the side came with tasty pickled shallot and spinach leaves rounded up with lovely tomato salsa. We came here on a Sunday morning with our good Chilean friends who recommended Proud Mary’s. It was around 10am and there were still tables available. Coffees are excellent and staff are friendly and helpful.

Incredible food and coffee. Just found this place on Google Maps and it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar which turned out to be awesome because we watched the baristas doing all the coffee and they have all sorts of different coffee machines and devices. Coffee was good but I loved the food. The potato hash was so delicious and it comes with this giant thick cut bacon. It tasted a bit corned beef-ish which I like. Definitely will be recommending to friends.

Found out about Proud Mary from another cafe many years ago and didnt know Proud Mary is a cafe here in Fitzroy Collingwood. We also recently bought a bag of Humbler blends from an online store but didn't there there was actually a physical store of Proud Mary. We visited Collingwood and saw it on Google Maps and came for a visit and was blown away by this place. Proud Mary is a very cool cafe and they do have some really good coffee beans highly recommended!!!

It's been a long time since the last visit. The menu wasn't as exotic compared to previous visits so it took a few passes to figure out what to eat for brunch and maximise the experience. The scrambled eggs in XO sauce came with Asian greens and a fried bread stick that's reminiscent of the Chinese doughnut. I'd opted for a rash of bacon as well, which was on the lean side, how I like it. XO sauce is one of my favourite flavours and you can't go wrong with it. The place looked just like how I remembered it. Staff were friendly and chirpy throughout the visit. This place is a haven for coffee lovers, a great place for connoisseurs to check out the diverse range of brews.

This joint is very likely to have the best coffee in Melbourne. Because the thing is it's consistablty amazing no matter style of coffee you drink. There is a young barista there called Dillan who works most weekend mornings, this guy blows my mind with the coffees he makes. Go there and ask one him to make you an expresso flight or even to suprise you with a tasting, you will be sorry you never met him earlier. I never knew coffee could do the things it does until I first went here

Service excellent despite the queue during weekend I find it worth. Be aware though there is surcharge on weekend. Long black always my preference, not many places made good espresso but this one here never fail. They offer 3 choices of coffee beans which I tried two top one which both really good! Not bitter but real fragrant of the natural beans. Tried their potato hash which Is still my favourite specially the thick cut bacon 😍 🤤

Pretty delicious food and coffee overall! But it was super busy so be prepared to line up for a bit. It also did charge me almond milk while I just ordered a skinny cap. Didn’t realised it until I checked the receipt later on…

The friendliest, most lovely welcoming staff. Best coffee in Melbourne. Great food. I come here frequently and always am greeted with a smile and consistent top coffee. I love the community spirit and energy of this place, I’ve never had this kind of connection or love with a cafe before! The food is so good, potato hash and house made jam is my favorite!!! Obsessed with the incredible new outside deck!

Coffee is delicious!!! But I have to give 4 stars because the Kim Chi Reuben is just alright, nothing special. My friend tried the Chocolate Orange Canelle(?)-I forgot the name- and it is too sweet for her. Overall, it is a good place to catch up with friend. The service and vibe is amazing.

Coffee was good and the staff were friendly. While I was pretty impressed, there were a few not so good things. I had the potato rosti dish. It was quite yum. Others had avocado on toast. One person on my table found the hot chocolate to be like warm milk and not very tasty. Overall for what we got, it was a little pricey. Reasonably easy to get to and plenty of parking near by. 1 he free spots worked okay.

Rubbish service if you sit outside. Only over complicated verbal instructions to use the qr code ordering system which still didn't work. Was first there and yet didn't get coffees, JUST COFFEES, for 20mins. A bit more humility and service would go a long way to making this place pleasant.

Loved our dining experience here! Really friendly staff and good food as well. Not to mention the coffee which is absolutely fantastic. Enjoyed the the potato hash and fish sanga. So good and filling. Don’t forget to buy their beans as well - I got the humbler which I really liked. Will definitely be back here.

Very Melbourne cafe with very good coffee. My prawn roll with crisps was great for a light lunch. Its herbs combined with the tangy sauce worked well. The service was friendly and attentive. Based on the other clientele, it looks like a good place to work on your laptop while sipping coffee.

Stumbled into this beauty looking for a caffeine hit. My taste buds were not prepared for the rainbow of flavors to come. I wasn’t even hungry but still HAD to order the tropical rice pudding. No regrets. Washed it down with a flatty and a delicate, lovely little cold drip. Pure delight.

Proud Mary, what can I say? The iconic cafe in Collingwood which gets rather busy most days for a very good reason! You just cannot go wrong with this place as they have great coffee (have their own beans), friendly staff and delishy dishes at reasonable prices.

Unique creative menu and delicious food! The food portions are good too! We enjoyed our avocado and cauliflower dishes. A bustling busy cafe, with lots of people getting takeaways. We went at around 11:30 in a Saturday and it took us around an hour to wait to get seated, to order and receive our food. The wait was long, but at least the food made up for it. However, the waitresses were a little cold, and service was minimal.

I had really high expectations of this place, as I have been told about it numerous times, and I know they are synonymous for their great coffee. However, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered a long macchiato, and it was pretty good, but the coffee was a bit bitter, it wasn’t the best coffee I’ve had. The food was made with good quality ingredients, which I appreciated, however for the price you pay, the food is quite simple and basic, I could perhaps make it at home better. My potato hash was half undercooked, it had a nice crispy outer layer but inside was just streams of raw grated potato. I personally don’t think it’s worth coming back.

One of my favourite brunch places - I’m guessing others too given how busy this place gets. Coffee has always been pretty consistent and plenty of pourover options for coffee connoisseurs out there. Decided to go with the chicken toastie that comes with chicken jus - so good. Plenty of sweet and savoury brunch options available if you’re not a fan of a toasted sandwich.

It’s a perfect spot for brunch in fitzroy before your sunny afternoon of thrifting. It’s the perfect place for an espresso or pour over enthusiast because of their exhaustive choice of beans and coffee intensities. Their lattes and chai definitely need work though. Delicious food, with a super unique peanut butter and celery pancake option that I would highly recommend! The mushrooms on toast with other food options were all, also great.

There’s an inside and outside section which is great. The options on the menu are excellent; they keep an eye on the healthy side which I like. Best coffee... xx The service is prompt and friendly thanks to that fella for making me feel welcome. I had the hash bacon; it was tasty. The only downside was the free internet was slow and after 5 minutes, a pop-up appeared saying "max out of data". So, I jumped to 5G. So, I won't recommend if you need to work for 30. Thank you all, will return. 👍

Disorganized, misprioritized service and work flow. Dirty. Indifferent and somewhat rude attitude. Such a shame for the quality of coffee beans they have. Coffee was not great neither for what it could be. Go to Aunty peg's instead if you're just up for coffee. They do things right.

Went to check it out for brunch based on pretty good reviews. Service was great, everyone was really lovely and friendly, was seated very quickly. We were disappointed by the food, it was very underwhelming and overpriced in my opinion. Everything was lukewarm including my long black unfortunately. These eggs on toast ($14) and bacon ($7) I had were very basic and kinda meh. My partner had the broccoli dish which was super small portion wise and had maybe 4 slices of potato - was served cold. Probably won’t be returning again unfortunately.

I want to say a big heartfelt thank you to every member of the team for keeping me sane these past few months. Yes the coffee is fab, and the food is delicious. But it’s the kindness, laughter and care that we have shared during lockdown that keeps me coming back. Oh, and donut day!

A real coffee institute. They are always serving the tastiest coffee and offer advice when you can’t make a decision. The team are always friendly and it’s great to see them smiling and laughing, even during these times. Something has changed and I like it!

  • 4/5 Elliot M. 2 years ago on Google
Great coffee and staff clearly put effort into their service which was appreciated. However the food was a bit of mixed bag. The dishes were creative, with unique flavour combinations but didn’t feel like it necessarily worked, or made it better. Sometimes people just want the brunch classics done well or a hearty toasted Sandwich. Would go back again for a change but can’t see it being a staple for me personally.

Panama Geisha is always my favourite coffee bean. Its fruity and floral profile is distinctively amazing. It was my first visit at Proud Mary but i did get to try their coffee beans at several occasions previously. I believe that there was nothing wrong with the bean itself. Cos i could smell all the characters this Geisha coffee contained when the barista came over to show me the ground bean. Shortly after that, my pour over was served and it was extremely hot. I had to wait for a while for it to cool down a bit. The burnt aftertaste was prominent. ;(

Awesome little cafe and super friendly staff. Came here recently for the first time for a coffee and loved their cold drip options - the server (can't remember his name sorry) walked us through each option and described the nuances of the flavour from the different bean options which was really helpful. Happily would come back for another coffee. Well done guys!

Great spot for brunch, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and coffee. Coming from Perth I have seen the Proud Mary coffee around at some cafes but wanted to experience it in Melbourne and it was great! The food and service were excellent. Proud Mary is a regular repeat for when we're in Melbourne. The coffee is good, and the food always fantastic. This trip I had the potato hash, which came with a kale salad, thick cut bacon and a poached egg. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the cafe had a real buzz about it. Plus it's an easy walk to the nearby shops, and a quick tram trip back into town. The best way to start a long weekend of shopping, eating and cycling in Melbourne...

What amazing food here. We ordered the potato hash which came with a large rosti which was finely shredded and had a crisp outside. The thick cut bacon was salty and complimented the bagna cauda. Eggs were slightly cooked but luckily just the way I liked them. For a refreshing side, the kale and radicchino salad was great

  • 3/5 J A. 3 years ago on Google
Definitely funky, but were they good and harmonious dishes? Nope. Choice of cucumber in watermelon and pork belly salad was a bad idea. Watermelon and pork belly and the sauce was okay.

Been to this place over weekend and the the coffee ☕️ selection was quite great. Me and friends tried a Hot chocolate & Flat white , Cappuccino and they had lot of flexible options when it comes to order as the order was taken and paid completely online even for dine in options. Would have given 5 star ⭐️, but just felt that item description in online ordering portal could have been more descriptive, as few items felt confusing as we had to ask the waiter for the exact contents in it. Otherwise a great place with a classy food selection.

We ordered the Onion Soubise Toast which I absolutely LOVED! Great serving size and packed full of flavour. This one’s for the cheese and onion lovers like me. The Potato Hash was okay, we added the anchovy sauce to the side in case it was too fishy (it wasn’t - just the expected saltiness). The potato was a little difficult to eat at times. Super friendly service, these guys are machines at pumping out coffees and food on a busy morning. Very impressive.

Easily one of the better brunch cafes in all of Melbourne, and that's saying something. The venue is always a delight, the food on point and coffee stands out.
