An infamous Indonesian coffee shop is finally landed in Melbourne. Although nestled in the city's hussle buzzle, this place is considered peaceful and such a good place to relax. For coffee connoiseur this will be a suitable place to sip one as the coffee is strong enough to kick in the day. Good coffee flavour, decent price, comfortable place, and all of these can complete my day off definitely.

This has been my favorite spot for coffee so far in the city. I love that they take attention to where the coffee comes from me than any other cafe I've been to. They show photos of the African culture where bean originate like Ethiopia. They have taste notes for each bean and country of origin and the staff are super friendly. Bonus is that they are tucked in quer alley steps away from bustling hardware street and they offer wifi to get some work done which is rare. Highly recommend as is my favorite so far! Note: because the cafe is open air you might have some small birds come up to your table haha.

Delightfully under appreciated coffee gem in the heart of the city! Serves a great batch brew with good vibes (and a hint of sass) whether for work or play.

I had a coffee there yesterday and it was amazing. Just newly opened .You can choose from Blue Doors own blends roasted by Cartel or they still have Cartel Coffee, They have the same passion found in the famous Blue Doors Cafes in Indonesia and great service.

Grabbed some coffee beans once, came in later to dine and have coffee in as well. Overall a quiet little gem with good music, clean atmosphere and good coffee. The barista is a chill and helpful guy too. I great place to just relax and work on your laptop or read your book.

Specialty coffee shop with Indonesian warm hospitality. Solid Flat White and Sweetened Iced Latte (Agave). Laptops and long hour seating are welcome — which is rare in the CBD.

Good coffee quite tropical or fruity perfect for summer, for me it needs more of a coffee kick. Love the decor and the locations will be perfect once restrictions ease 🕺💃

Have been coming here for years and it has always maintained this calming simple atmosphere. Love that you can have coffee, tea or wine. Perfect spot to also focus on some work or hobbies while relaxing with a drink. Feels like a best kept secret as there's usually always a table available.

I visited this place with high expectations, but the coffee tasted overwhelmingly like milk, lacking the distinct aroma and flavor of coffee. Although the milk foam was soft, it's not a place I plan to visit again. Very disappointed and would not recommend this place.

Lovely space. Lovely staff. Gave us plenty of help selecting beans. Really enjoyed them. Enjoyed our coffees on the day too!

Went here on Saturday morning, since it's lockdown again in Melbourne. The guy who served us was very welcoming, and definitely enhance our 'coffee experience'. Helped to decide which coffee beans should we get for our best preference. Got the chance to smelled heaps of damn-good smelling beans. He definitely know what he's doing tho. Had the Columbian for my latte as well, surprisingly delicious with fruity notes. Thanks Cartel.

How hard is it it be polite to customers? As a coffee lover was very excited to try out your Cafe on a lovely day. I was greeted by very curt if not rude service. After I brought my cup back to the counter trying to be nice I commented on how nice the cup was to be greeted with turning their back with total indifference. Decent coffee but afraid I won't be coming back here. :(

Been coming back here religiously since 2019, but I have to say that the quality has definitely dropped. Used to be one of my most favourite to go batch brew place but the recent experience I had here wasn’t the same anymore. The coffee tasted a little burnt which was never the case before. The staff has never always been friendly and I didn’t quite mind that as long as they are not rude. Although, I must say that the savoury croissant I got from here a few months back was absolutely fantastic. So may be yes for coming back for food but I’m not so sure about coffee.

Coffee lives up to the hype, one of the nicest espresso’s I’ve had locally! Service was very unwelcoming, didn’t receive anything beyond basic interaction from the staff member and felt like I was a bit of an inconvenience to her lunch break. Cups were also a bit muddy on the outside. I will be back, just hope for better experience next time!

Not good 😣 I had been here a couple of years ago and I remember I really loved the coffee and the service. Things have changed. Not sure if the place has changed owners, but it was hugely disappointing. My friend got a Beef Jaffle — basically, a $20 toastie, which doesn’t come with any sides, or anything. The menu says it’s made with wagyu beef, which wasn’t the case — it was very chewy, tasteless beef, made from a very cheap, low quality cut. To top it all off, when my friend asked for sauce, the waiter brought her some sauce, picked up the toasties with his bare hand, as we were at the table, squirted the sauce under the toasties, and then placed them back on top… 😳🤯 Needless to say, my friend just left them untouched and we left… The $6.82 cold drip I ordered was very acidic and unpleasant — I had less than half, as I desperately needed some caffeine, and I had to leave it too. An expensive mistake! Especially since they charged $2.73 for the transaction! In total, 29.55 for a coffee and a toastie we didn’t have… Let’s just call it an off day, but we definitely wouldn’t be back…

One of the most friendly, most welcoming, chilled Cafe I've been to. The coffee, service and the pistachio croissant: 5 starts! This is the perfect coffee break to have in Melb!

Coffee is good and there is plenty of space to sit. Also it's great that you can get sparkling or non sparkling water from tap. It's just really sad that we got our coffee in take away cups, even though we ordered for sitting in. When I did repeat we sit in when I realised she prepared one-use-cups the answer was: yes but in take away cups and continued and even put on plastic lids. It's such a waste of resources and ruines the coffee experience not getting a proper mug... therefore unfortunately just average.

Beautiful little location for a coffee shop. Staff are very friendly and chill, just like its atmosphere. My only go-to coffee joint from now on. The wait time on the drinks are very quick and very good. I highly recommend.

Cozy and warm coffee shop in the alley of Little Bourke street area. Lots of coffee bean selection and some light bite options. Had hot latte and raspberry pistachio croissant, turns out it was a really good pair.

Instagram: @ediblemelbourne BEST BATCH BREW If you were looking for a place that's nicely tucked away from the busy Little Bourke Street, well, you must find yourself here. The venue is located towards the end of Somerset Place and it's everything you want and more. We've been coming here over the years for the batch brew and the occasional single origin coffee that they bring and have never been disappointed. The venue is quite spacious inside and they have a nice selection of little pastries and sandwiches if you're up for it.

Amazing taste, slightly sour in the mouth, with chocolate sweetness

Great spot in the city and not too busy in the mornings! Would be great for groups with ample seating. Still or sparkling water on tap. And the coffee!!! Plenty of choice and tasting notes. Staff were knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. I am really keen to visit again and chill out with a long black. Don't forget they sell coffee beans and tea to take home ☕❤️ Update: this place is still amazing. Consistent coffee made by a wonderful Barista. The beans have made work from home quote enjoyable 🏡👍

Great little cafe tucked away down the lane. Coffee was smooth, strong and no bitter aftertaste - great for black coffee in the morning. Service was super friendly and inviting, was warmly welcomed and quickly served. Cafe eatery is not extensive but still a great - fresh crossiants to complement your coffee, as well as sandwiches and cookies (to name a few). You can sit inside or outside on more communal bench & table style seating.

Highly recommend this place for a calm atmosphere to enjoy a truly decent coffee. I think their cold brew is one of my favourite in Melbourne. I've come here many times but the reason I'm writing this review today is because of the service. The sole barista on today (Saturday afternoon) handled quite a busy cafe quickly and made sure to check on everyone. Honestly very impressed and thankful that he offered friendliness even though he had much to do. :) I'd give more stars if possible

10/10 coffee, well worth the visit for coffee lovers. Try the Bkon coffee, it is worth the price, watch the experience of it being brewed in the fancy machine. Lovely service, great atmosphere. Fine for children to visit but no toys or playspace. Accommodates dogs outside but no shady place to sit and can be exposed to the weather. Highly recommend.

Very cosy, tranquil café, with lots of seating space indoors and a terrace. The baristas were very friendly, and I had a wonderful, flavourful flat white with a pain au chocolat. I will come again whenever I'm in Melbourne.

Hidden and quiet! If you love strong coffee u need to order double shot of espresso for milk based coffee! Food is not the best but croissants are good!

Chill and relaxed atmosphere. Nice place to have a chat or read a book. And the most important aspect: they pour excellent single origin coffee. My long black was at the perfect temperature.

Nestled in an semi-obscure nook of the Melbourne CBD, Cartel Coffee Roasters boasts a chic decor and a relaxing atmosphere that embodies all the goodness that coffee lovers and brunch enthusiasts yearn for on a lazy Sunday morning. Sure, maybe the coffee is a little light on taste, but your mileage may vary depending on your preferences, so no points lost here. Fancy and well-fitted out with exotic photos to admire, you may like to bring along a book to enjoy solo or a friend or two for a quiet chat. The local sparrows seem to enjoy paying the occasional visit as well.

Pros: - Hands down the best chai latte in Melbourne - Great selection of coffee, craft beers and other drinks - Friendly staff and great atmosphere - Classic Melbourne alleyway cafe atmosphere Cons: - Honestly can't think of any. This is a great little cafe and I wish more people knew about it!

Cartel coffee roasters might be the best flat white we’ve had on our visit to Melbourne, unbelievable coffee! Awesome spot down a little alleyway with some beautiful food, also highly recommend this low sugar cola that one of the friendly staff recommended us to try. James Ashwin Kakapo Business Sales
