Grind Coffee Bar is a small and charming cafe where we recently had lunch. The food was undeniably delicious, with decent serving sizes. So many delicious things to order. Some of my meal was a little cold but still tasty. One small downside, while it would be my preference to have my coffee first, it came well after our meals were served. The coffee was quite nice though. One member of our party encountered a brief delay with their basic order which wasn’t ideal. Despite these hiccups, the café has a pleasant atmosphere and tasty food, making it worth considering for a visit. It would be great if they could improve their timing.

If I could I would rate this -5/5 but sadly 1/5 stars is the lowest I can rate! Do not come to this cafe unless you are looking for a show down and personal attack with the “manager”! Incredibly poor customer service- ordered 2 drinks & a “Japanese cheesecake” that tasted horrible, it was hard and stale. I asked who I guess was the manager politely to get a refund just for the cheesecake as we weren’t happy to pay for it but we had no problem with the drinks. She offered something else instead but we weren’t interested in trying any more of their food, she refuses to give a refund multiple times and proceeds to loudly call out other customers to ask their opinion and caused an embarrassing scene. It seems I offended her because I said it tasted old and stale (which it did I wanted to spit it out when I took a bite) she claims it was cooked today which maybe it was however it doesn’t matter even if it was- the fact is it was hard, stale and tasted horrible. I let her know she is ruining the entire experience by causing a scene and randomly asking other customers their opinions (I just wanted a cup of coffee) and to get the drinks for takeaway as we didn’t want to stay any longer and didn’t care for the cheesecake. She gave us takeaway cups and told us to do it ourselves- we’re mortified at this experience. At this point we just wanted to LEAVE! When you go to a cafe you don’t expect to be put in this position. Disgustingly rude customer service, and extremely hostile and unprofessional. The concept of a refund doesn’t just not exist if you don’t feel like it or if you are offended with someone’s opinion of your food- I’m not an unreasonable person as I also work in hospitality and I understand the industry very well. In this situation- the service and food provided was incredibly poor and she was 10000% in the wrong- shocked and appalled by this behaviour and also by the customers she involved that didn’t see in an issue with how she was treating us. Do not come here, $20 out of pocket for NOTHING but a disappointing and uncomfortable experience. All I wanted was to sit down and have a cup of coffee! I came out with battle scars and $20 less for nothing. Some ppl should never work in hospitality if you’re going to be that prideful and hard headed, and seemed to enjoy belittling your customers. I never mentioned this in person to the “manager” to spare their feelings but the “red velvet latte” was also disgusting! Do not come here.

    - Passed by for a takeaway coffee. Restaurant was bustling so it’s clearly a favourite. - Fantastic and friendly customer service. Although there was only one barista (who was clearly under the pump), she was welcoming and accomodating. Since she was the only barista, this did mean we waited around 10-15 minutes for our coffee (but didn’t mind the wait). - More on the pricey side ($5.20 for regular soy latte), but will happily return. UPDATE: went back to try their Vietnamese Iced Coffee and Breakfast Plate! Both were so delicious and filling!

Food was nice, waiting time was incredibly long. customer service was so low below the acceptance. I think they need to hire more staff to provide better service like i had to ask them to clean the table, during period of covid I think cleaning and wiping down tables etc should be their first priority. I went to use the washroom and walked straight out it was disgusting in there. ive given 2 stars for quality of food but lets be hosnest all other aspects also matter to make a place 5 stars. I hope owners should look into all these areas for improvement.

Never thought I would be dining here as we were after the Cafe next to this one and we ended up so satisfied. The portion, the flavour, the combination, the music and the sauce in picture 2 next to the bread were all magnificently delivered. Highly recommend the Chicken Claypot and Steak Breakfast 👍

First visit and a bit disappointed. We have waited for a coffee for good 15-20min, and the cafe wasn’t that busy. Breakfast came shortly after. I would say eggs and coffee were done nicely, but everything else was below average: toast wasn’t toasted properly, veggies didn’t have much flavour and seasoning whatsoever . My OJ also didn’t arrive until we were leaving . We end up spending 75$ for 2 people ( breakfast and coffee).. I would said I had far better breakfast in the area.

My eggs benedict arrived with some sort of sweet BBQ sauce on it, mixed with the hollandaise it was less than ideal. Wish I hadn't bought this.

Best breakfast food and best customer service. I am a regular here with my best friend and partner and they’ve remembered our orders. The barista, Sam is wonderful. I will keep coming here. The staff and their customer service is second to none. Worth mentioning their food is delicious!

Amazing food, good coffee, and good variety of menu — the Beef Stew with Bread and the Iron Pot dishes are great. Lovely staff and service too always.

Best focaccias in the western suburbs, especially the vegetarian one. Perfect snack after basketball practice. You can quote me on that.

Finally treated myself to breakfast at a cafe. Was sadly disappointed with the quality. I ordered a Latte and a Golden Benedict. I love a good hollandaise. Coffee was hot and incredibly bitter, only drank half of it and I added sugar (normally prefer no sugar, but it was too much for me). The breakfast was not great. The eggs were undercooked (runny egg whites), the sliced hash brown was oddly super crisp, like crouton crisp, and there was an unidentified brown drizzle sauce, not sure what it was. Whole dish was cold, well the eggs were lukewarm. Not a joy to eat at all. I will say the hollandaise sauce was very good though. So I at least enjoyed that part, hence the second star. I rate 2 stars because the staff were all very lovely and welcoming and the hollandaise was good.

Coffee is nice. Service is not bad(we wait a little bit long time). But food tasted not good, and also pricy. Also they forgot our OJ. When the staff served meals he said would bring it later but they forgot at last. (it popped into my mind after we left)

Tried to order a drink from Grind, was the only customer there aside from one man that had already ordered and eaten. Stood in front of the server for 4 minutes and she still had yet to take my order as she was too busy speaking to the man despite requiring her service. Was forced to interrupt their seemingly important conversation just to order my drink. If I hadn’t interrupted, who knows how long she would’ve took before assisting a customer. Appalling customer service from the woman at front.

Sooo.. looking for Breakfast as we had been travelling from Regional Victoria. This was beyond anything we imagined. Service, food and great prices. Best breakfast/meal in a very long time. Grind is definitely a hidden secret. Go support this amazing crew. Wish we weren't so far away.

The lovely ladies suggested we try the red velvet coffee and chicken wrap. Best idea ever. Not to sweet, and with almond milk it was beautiful . Oh and the cake, lemon coconut and almond, freshly lade and it was so decadent and just perfect balance of flavour.

Nice food but they served coffees long after food arrived and it took about 20 mins for them to make me a very basic and very minimally filled BLT and everyone on the table with much more complicated meals had already been served. Noisy blender going off every few minutes. Cold inside and too expensive. Also one of the workers picked up my two year old daughter and touched her on the head another time and that was a bit weird. Also I could see the girl making food eating left over bits while she made it. Yuck.

3.5/5. Grind was quite pleasant. We had the iron pot with kransky, a beef burger and herbed fries, and southern benedict. The ironpot was the star of the show for its homeliness and the beef burger was done well too, juicy and not overly greasy. The side of chips were also cooked so satisfyingly with a really nice tomato sauce that’s not like I’m used to. As for the southern benedict, it was okay. I think the pork was a bit sweet and too soft so on top of poached eggs and english muffins, it felt very homogenous. The chef was really friendly though! I was a little let down by the coffee though. Apparently the default coffee size is a mug (?? at other cafes, the default is a small). I tried to tell this to the manager (I assume) but found myself being interrupted several times before I could properly explain. I just copped the loss before being told next time I should specify… there is such a thing as too much coffee, it appears.

Horrible customer experience. 0/10 Would not recommend a visit. Went in for some coffee, saw they had a Japanese cheesecake so I ordered a slice. It was not edible nor worth the money so we asked nicely for a refund with the reasons. It was dry, dense and overall nowhere near the consistency of what a Japanese cheesecake would usually taste like - it was like a dense cake that was a few days old. It was also left out on the countertop so was air dried which didn’t help with the already dense texture. The barista who served us the coffee and cake, which presumably was the manager, only asked if we wanted to heat the cake up or get a muffin in return and adamantly refused to give us a refund. She then proceeded to bring other customers into the situation to ask for their opinion on the cake which she baked fresh today. It made everyone so uncomfortable. We just wanted to handle this quietly to respect the space of other customers/workers however the hostility and unprofessionalism displayed from the barista/manager was absolutely appalling. At this point the whole experience was so off putting we just wanted a refund for the entire order ($20 for 2coffees and the cheesecake) but she would just say “don’t do refunds”. She also told us if we didn’t like it we can just not come to the store or don’t order it again. Simply just asked for our coffees takeaway but she just handed over the cups and basically told us to do it ourselves.. Terrible customer service - barista is rude blindly prideful. I don’t require to be waited on hand and foot but there was not even an ounce of hospitality in their service. I didn’t want to be in the store any longer so we left with no refund and coffees essentially untouched. Sorely disappointed. The abysmal service from the barista overshadowed entire experience.

Some of the best coffee I've ever had... and considering that this Melbourne, that's saying something. Regularly visit, and always have a good time. The food tastes great, and unless it's super busy the wait is generally pretty reasonable. Staff are always nice and do their best to look after the customers. The barista is a lovely person, and is good fun to have a chat with, when she has the time. Highly recommend, either for a quick takeaway or a more relaxed time with friends.
