Was told that I was “too young” to be in the venue despite being 26 years old. Horrible service and rude management. Would not recommend / 10.

My friends and I who are in our 30’s decided to pop into this “bar” for a drink after dinner before heading home. After we sat down on one of the couches we were greeted by a rude bald man with glasses who said that my friends and I are too young to be in the bar and asked if we could leave. His words “everyone is going to be your parents age around here soon so you better leave”. I’ve NEVER had this level of service in a bar, let alone having a bar that had minimal customers and turning away 5 paying customers. If I could give 0 stars here I would. Disgusting. Avoid here at all costs.

2 Saturdays ago I went for a drink to celebrate a friend's birthday after we met at Hoo Haaa. I ordered a gin and tonic and danced a little with my friend's friends. I wanted to move the place my coat so I left my glass at the bar, moved it and when I came back my drink was gone. I was able to see the waitress took it away, I reacted by telling her it was mine but she didn't hear me and she didn't worry about it. She just looked at me and continued to clean the glass. I told her again it was my drink and she said to another waitress in front of me: "She's drunk, don't mind her" I was very upset by that comment, I finished working at hospitality at 1.30am and I just wanted to enjoy with friends, that was my second drink of the night I wasn't drunk and I wasn't deaf either. The other waitress (maybe manager) understood what I was finally explaining and said to me "Okay, I'll get you another drink. I didn't say anything but my face didn't change, I was very upset by the treatment I received, I felt insulted. Then she looked at me and said "you know what? you're rude, I'm not going to give you anything. I looked at them without saying anything and left. When I left the place I said good night to the doorman and told him what had happened. I honestly couldn't believe that I was treated so badly for no reason. Very unfriendly and unprofessional night staff.

Great music. Good atmosphere. And one of the only places on Chapel Street that has an actual dance floor. Great for all ages, but it seems to not attract the teens or those in their 20s.

Wanted to have a drink and got told to ask my parents for permission.... I'm 26 double checked to make sure he wasn't joking. Just trying to help out a bar after covid

Girls that work there are extremely dramatic. Owner is very unprofessional. Older crowd. Cheap drinks. Decent music. Small venue. Recommend if you are in your mid 30’s to 40’s and up

It's ok. Good staff and ambience ok but DJ can be better... Went there for a dance, but music wasn't dance worthy...

To the older male running the bar alone last Saturday afternoon - I’d suggest that, when the entire bar is empty except for the 2 people you’re serving and a group of customers go and grab a table at the back, you don’t go up to them and tell them that “asking for a table would get [us] further in life”. We left immediately. We’ll give our money to a business that cares a little more about the people that keep them running.

Friendly staff and plenty of room around the bar. Place is clean and seats have material cushioning. Does accept cash. Drink were good and acceptable priced. Really liked the mini burgers, chips (oil was fresh) and deep fried spiced rice balls - i.e. good bar food.

Great little bar, tunes are pumping every Saturday night, Great staff, great selection of drinks. They don't discriminate who they let in like other local bars. Two thumbs up.

Attended social bar Was dancing with a close friend. Minding own business doing nothing wrong, when security came up and forced us out. When we asked what we did they could not tell us. The security guard 037 proceded to put his hands on my body without permission. And I was not resisting him. I found this to be inappropriate and uncomfortable... I would consider it asult. I asked for business owner. I was denied the right to speak to him/her. I feel very violated by this night. Very bad experience. Laterfound out my friends ex girlfriend orchestrated everything. Such a negative experience that I will hold forever. Very sad that this excepted.

This bar has Happy Hour for its cocktails - 2 for 1. The music played is mainly house but can play old house which can be nostalgic. The crowd itself is quite an older crowd which makes it a bit more laid back and good to to let loose if you don't care what anyone else thinks of you. Smoking area is at the front of the bar and also on the street in front where there is an umbrella for cover. I believe they do provide food but I wasn't able to test and taste on this occasion.

It's always a great night out here. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is positive, the crowd is relaxed and trouble free. The cocktails are fantastic. You might even find that special someone standing at the bar.

Seems like more males to females, many regulars in their 40's Plus. Sometimes you get a stray glamor. And toilet wait can be a bit long if you know what I mean...Good house music. And the dance floor is always full...

I made a purchase online of something that has absolutely nothing to do with a bar o a restaurant, plus the website is from the UK, I haven't received anything, so I checked the bank statement and turns out, I paid 90£ to this bar through my purchase. I want to know exactly what is happening cause I think you have a SCAM going on. Please reply to this message. Had an amazing time, threw our engagement party here last night and staff were extremely friendly, music and vibe was very chill, the food was great and well served. The service was thorough from beginning to end. Definitely recommend. Try the prawns and the jade shot, it won’t disappoint!

I've been there before and enjoyed the music, but tonight a group of us 31 year olds got knocked back on a night out for a friends birthday because the bouncer thought the owner wouldn't approve of letting us younger people in.... as we are under 40! It totally ruined our night, the birthday girl was very disappointed. I would not waste your time.

Fabulous bar with a very mixed age group as one of its strengths with great DJs and an excellent atmosphere.

Worst club spoke to Maneger omg his the worst management never give you chance to tell him your right never recommended worst club and music really unprofessional.

DJ Peter Mac is prob one of the best djs in melb. Warm atmosphere great and friendly service, responsible mature crowd. Not overly crowded. Please don’t change!

Decent place. Bouncers let in vulnerable women who they’ve watched vomit on the pavement - but if you’ve got thongs on, it’s too unsafe. Makes sense. Bouncer in question looks like Serj Tankian from System of a Down.

I've been a few times and I like the great relaxed atmosphere early in the evenings, with cool house music later for dancing. It has a friendly vibe and wide age group. I had an event there and the staff were very helpful, nibbles and finger food were good and prices moderate. If recommend it for relaxed drinks or parties.

Iconic bar venue, had some memorable nights here over the years (previously Ibiza bar) Cool staff, music on the House tip and always good I feel compelled to mention the chips. I eat chips in a lot of places, here and overseas and the ones served at the Social are in a league of their own. I'm obsessing on them, they are so good. I even took some home in my bag for my wife to prove to her how good they are. I don't what their secret is but they are killing it. Order a serve with dips next time you are in

We were then told to leave after a rude man, who I think was the manager/owner stated this is a mature age bar, you should leave here because “the people here are about to be your parents age”. Incredibly rude and condescending, however I went to the bayou next door, very welcoming bartender and great atmosphere.

Never been there but it smells like the feet are nice
