I've been meaning to check this place out after noticing it whilst walking around the city... The outside open air area on the first level is good if you are planning for a bit of fresh air... Or want to smoke... Actually not really any separation between the two areas. Inside was more funky and clean than I was expecting after coming up the escalator... Which wasn't working when we came but I didn't mind the exercise. After reading a review saying you can get $6.50 Captain Morgan and cokes it was worth the chance and and glad we gave it a go Whilst we were here they were playing some decent 70s funk and with the sun shining in Melbourne it was a nice day. You can order directly from your table and there are some decent drink options as well as some cheap eats. Not sure what is like later at night when there are bouncers at the entry but at midday on a Friday it was family friendly. Happy to come here again.

Great experience, and Affordable drinks. The Joint Bar is in great location next to the train station for anyone coming into the city. Large balcony that can accommodate a decent number of people. Staff are very friendly. will definitely come again

The Join bar on Elizabeth St is an absolute example of Melbourne's nightlife scene. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The DJ music they had that night added to the overall experience. It was loud , dark, and yet, a good place to be.

Great little place to catch up with your mates for lunch/dinner/snack or a night out! Food is amazing and a good selection of drinks! The prices are also extremely reasonable, especially with people currently struggling. Their current $20 lunch deal is very appropriately priced and tastes amazing. Cannot wait to take more of my friends and family here. Only let down, is the smoking and non smoking areas aren’t really monitored during the day, so smokers can be mixed in with non smoking patrons! Also the lifts out the front definitely need fixing too!

The Joint had many transitions and so far it's not its worst phase. They really should improve on the choice of DJs as the music is pretty repetitive and stale. Besides that, the prices are good and the atmosphere isn't too bad as there is a large smoking area as well. If you wanna go out and get a heap of drinks for cheap, it's a great place to go to. They have two pool tables and bathrooms as well. Large balcony that can accommodate a decent number of people. A very convenient location as well as it's surrounded by places to eat and Flinders Street station itself! Easy place to suss

Paid $26 for a weak drink, was impolitely told by aggressive staff 5 minutes later that my table and seat is no longer mine? Maybe please train your staff to enjoy a little bit of emotional intelligence in future thanks 🙏🦈

Entire bar feels a little dirty, steak came out more well done than medium rare. It's okay, but definitely better places elsewhere for food and drinks

Unfortunately this bar basically ripped us off with one of its drink prices. It’s a big backpacker bar with a chilled vibe, sticky floor and can be packed with people. You would expect normal to cheap prices. We ordered two Havana club 7 doubles with coke. Havana club 7 is $60 per bottle at Dan Murphys. The price was $62 we paid and sat down without thinking about it. Then after a few minutes we realised and went to ask. It was $14 per Havana as they were doubles which is $56 for 4 and I guess plus $6 for the coke. We mentioned that it seems pricy and didn’t bother complaining, it’s not the bar girls fault. The decision was to leave and only go back to this bar once with our tightest friend when it’s his round. This is basically what you would expect to pay at Liubar or an expense restaurant, not a normal bar.

Good atmosphere. Lively crowd. Well planned balcony seating area. Enjoyed the vegetarian and beef nachos as snack food. Self service still water available. Prompt, efficient table service.

The female toilets were upstairs and male were down, I appreciate the thought that went into this idea as females generically are born to have fitter leg muscles. Apon entering the female bathrooms there were three stalls, number one was full of toilet paper and had no light, number two had no door, number 3 the lid was closed so it was risky. After much debate I decided to go with number one, the toilet didn't flush well and it was super embarrassing and the floor was wet. Afterwards I went down stairs and enjoyed a delightful long Island iced tea! (:

Security man treated me like if i was drunk at the door when it wasnt. he was also very unpolite. It happened on tuesday at 22 approximately. He almost desnt let me in for no reason.

S tier bar, my spirit of choice is Captain Morgan so to find out that Cap Morgan and cokes are $6.5 all the time. Rare W for my Bank Account. Common L for my Liver. I always find myself here when I’m in the CBD. Keep up the good work TJB ❤️

Really nice bar! No too much expensive. The chips are amazing! On Tuesday, they have a special event about culture, so come in!

Sasha and Manon are the most amazing bar tenders I’ve approached I entered early afternoon where then the were both extremely busy and regardless both amazingly personable and helpful with drink choice: could not recommend more because or these two girls!

Unfortunately they’ve recently completely re-done their food menu. Went in last week and tried about 5 dishes between our table and food quality had definitely dropped while the price has increased by quite a lot. Still a great place for drinks but will be eating elsewhere from now on.

So the Joint Bar right, you just go in and they are like 'welcome to joint bar' and then everyone says 'thank you so much for having me I am happy to be here' and then the bar staff are like 'mate whatever you want to drink we can make it, let's get there together'. All of a sudden Tom's immaculate shirt comes out of nowhere and makes you a double pirate and everyone is happy. EVERYONE IS HAPPY AT JOINT BAR.

Our last night in Melbourne and we find 'The Joint'. Good beer and the cheapest yet. Worth a visit and happy HR between 4 and 7. Thanks 👍👍

Good little rooftop bar, paid about $12.50 a pint during happy hour which was decent. Pretty sure they have cheap Captain Morgan and Coke deals all the time as well.

If you're looking for a fun night out, try somewhere else. The atmosphere is completely dead with zero people on the almost nonexistent dance floor. Tried discussing with the DJ and bar staff about putting some better music on and was rudely shut down by both. You would think a night club would want a fun and energetic environment with a bustling dance floor, but sadly you won't find it here. If you want to end your night on a low point, a great place for you. This venue seems to have gone downhill in the last few years and from my experiences it doesn't seem like they are willing to make any improvements to the customer experience.

About 2am on a Friday night... I asked the DJ if he could play some 90s music. Zero people on the dance floor but I was keen to get my boogie on. DJ replied with some vague answer about "following the vibe" there was no "vibe". Later the bartender said "what if we don't actually want people to dance" or something along those lines. Sounds like they don't really want people to "vibe" just pay for for drinks and have a bland night. Very disappointing and boring

Seems like a missed opportunity to create an amazing bar in this venue. It is run down, and not in a cool dive bar type of way. I suggest that you invest a bit of time into cleaning the place (especially the elevator???) and rethink the interior design. A few plants on the balcony, fairy lights, a coherent colour palette on the walls and some sort of character or concept - that's all you need to make this a great spot for a drink. HOWEVER it is one of the few affordable places these days and the service was fine.

Got a good service but clearly was a new girl who didn’t know too much yet but was cleared up immediately. Food was awful (soft shell crab bao) - too big to fit into mouth. Could be less salad. More spicy too

The worst chicken sandwich I had in my life - I am not really into leaving such bad reviews, but the chicken was as hard as a rock. A one week old kfc sandwich would taste better. Service was also pretty poor. Beers were fairly priced tho, so just avoid the food maybe

Came here for the first time with low hopes, but the service by Tom was so phenomenal I had to write a review; he was very sweet and talked us through the menu. I will be back!

Captain Atom Man absolutely loves this place. One can never go wrong here. Makes me feel young again.

Rude doormen, rude waitress barstaff and someone complaining about being overcharged all with the first 2 minutes. I walked out without spending a cent. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Drinks are not the best, but they are really cheap. Bartenders are very friendly as well. Ambient is cool. I highly recommend it if you just wanna grab a pint.

A number of years since I visited this once quite lively bar. Unfortunately it has become somewhat run down. Situated on the first floor, but the escalators were not working, which probably explains the lack of patronage.

This is a most amazing find... and I have visited b4... with an awesome time then and also now. Tbh it is the first actual place in my life I have had the bartender cut me off temporarily... and give me a free drink (non alco) ... which shows they care... mind I prefer the grog. And 20min l8r. He was a good lad... Get Here peeps... they also have 2 snooker tables... and bouncers for the naughty. UPDATE 27/09/23: Still my no. One. Great hang out and open till past 2am. What r u waiting for???

Reeks of cigarette smoke. Staff are wannabe policemen bossing people around and yelling at them for going upstairs even though it isn’t signed as closed. Plenty of other better bars in the city to check out. Don’t bother coming here.

Cannot smoke after 11pm. Balcony closed prior after 11pm. "Indoor" smoking area bans drinks after 11pm. I don't think I'll bother after 11pm!! It is a backpackers, but fri and sat nights are FULL of the sleaziest types.... Just don't bother...

Good place to start a night out. Cheap drinks pool tables. Outdoor seating. Location is smack bang in the middle of the CBD.

Free entry on club should sound exciting to freebies. But you have to take care of dress code (Shirt, pants and sneakers), as tshirts, ripped jeans and sport shoes not allowed!

The stuff is really friendly and they have such great karaoke nights on every Tuesday. I have had so many great times in this place. Also the Halloween party last year was the most fun one I was invited to in Melbourne.

Nice food, nachos could be a little more refined with home made salsa, more beans and less sour cream, but overall very nice. Lovely staff and nice environs. Silly to have the smoking a non-smoking area is right next to each other outside. Smoking areas that now passé.

A good bar to drink good drinks and enjoy with friends is good because is open all week until 4 am

They get the drinks wrong and sometimes they don't know the drink we ordered. The glasses they used to serve my wine still had lipstick marks on them. Had to change the drinks 4 time, the 5th time I had to select the glass myself and then okay it for my drink. It was an embarrassing experience for me. We only go there because it has a convenient location but ordering drinks is always hit and miss.

If you want unforgettable dancing night... here to be. Good vibes and nice Dj selection, especially Saturday nights.

The security guard was so rude, I will never be returning to this place. I felt intimidated and disrespected by the way he spoke to me. I think they may need to hire security guards that are able to communicate with the public in a kind and respectful manner.

Cool venue! Nice staff and regular cheap drink specials. Pool tables and a good balcony area as well. The bathrooms were alright.

This was meant to be the backpackers haven. The pricing suggests otherwise. Still the staff are friendly and service is good at lunchtime. They do have a range of specials so do look for those and if they fit this does make it better value.

I was waiting on the bar long time and lady was told by white customer that I am first but still see avoids me and she serve the other customer then I was the only one on the counter but still she avoids me then two other white customers come and she served them and I was just waiting I don’t know why I regularly visit that bar but next time never ever shame on her 👎🏿 Service by the staff on the bar lady was purposely racially behavioural. I did told the other staff In detail but I know nothing will happen but I will definitely share my experience with other people.
