If you’re looking for good food and good alcohol, make sure you check out Rice Queen! We were there during happy hour and got the oysters for only $2 per oyster! The cocktails were amazing and so were the food! We got the XO fried rice which was so fragrant and full of flavour without too overwhelming. We also the tuna tartare that was paired with egg salad and thin prawn crackers, it was amazing! And the staffs and bartender were super friendly! Can’t wait to come back again!

Atmosphere was lovely and staff were super friendly and attentive. Loved the food, it was delicious, packed with heaps of flavour and the best part, was that once you order, didn’t take long for food to come out. Only thing, two larger plates and one smaller plate, with veggies and roti wasn’t enough for two people, large was defs not large enough. Heaps of paid street parking.

All I can say is WOW!! I tried the vegan tasting menu here, and holy moly, it did not disappoint. The fried cauliflower and eggplant was AMAZING (and I don't even like eggplant lol), the dumplings were delicious, and the curry was dangerously good (left me in a food coma for hours as I just couldn't stop eating it)!! They even had "mock vegan salmon", which I've never seen or heard of before - and damn was it tasty. And what makes me like this place even more is that the prices are suuuuuper reasonable compared to some other restaurants I've been to in Melbourne. The cocktails were also delicious, and the staff (who were super friendly) even provided cocktail/wine pairing recommendations for the food, which were actually really good! Wine selection was great too. Also came with some of my friends that eat meat, and they loved their meals just as much. I'd honestly say this place has now secured a spot in my top 3 restaurants in Melbourne. 10/10... Honestly, I can't fault this place!!!

A hidden gem Asian restaurant in Fitzroy. Their inner decorations is really something with the spirits of the street art. We ordered the tasting menu for two and I love the spicy chicken and the bao the best. While everything was delicious and has the authentic flavor from Asia.

We came here for the bottomless brunch and it didn’t disappoint. Great staff- food and drinks came quickly. Food was delicious and the roti bread was an all time favourite!!! The red lantern was our favourite cocktail. Great bottomless brunch deal and the venue is beautiful

One of the best Asian fusion place I’ve been to. It has a really nice ambiance and great service from our server as well. Food was amazing, authentic flavours and serving was enough to share between 2 people. Wagyu pad thai was a bit on the oily side but was still good. Would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu and the karaoke!

Really enjoyed the food, services, and atmosphere here. Had fun with spotting posters and graffitis on the wall. The delivery of the food was speedy and the quality of the food was top-notch. I like this type of Asian fusion restaurant in the sense that it doesn’t lose the authentic flavour of the food while being creative. Vegan options never disappoint us. Staff there made sure that we were taken care of and our requests were immediately met. Thank you!

Went here for drinks & then came back for dinner. Such a warm & welcoming environment! Austin (venue manager) is so skilled at what he does & all the workers are super friendly. Food was amazing!! Generous portions & full of flavour. Loads of Vego & Vegan options plus Gluten Free options as well. Excellent value for money. Music & lighting is also perfect. Highly recommend & will definitely be back soon. Thank you very much.

Recently celebrated my birthday here on a Saturday night with 14 of my girlfriends. We had the Feed Me Menu @$65 pp which offers several courses and desert can be added for an additional $5. I love this venue and have been here many times, but not post covid. The decor, ambiance and vibe is so on point and perfect for a girls night out. We got heaps of great photos. The service on the night was downright rude to begin with - I had to ask for the assigned waiter to be removed from our table. The North American waiter was obnoxious- making fun of my guests because of their dietary restrictions and in general being rude when I enquired where our drinks were after us waiting over 15 minutes from ordering them. The rest of the staff was lovely, but there were obvious issues with food coming out - a few times they didn’t have enough food come out for the number of people we had an inevitably one of my friends missed out if had to wait. They were lovely enough to acknowledge this and offered us a round if shots in the house which was a nice touch even if it was just sugary, coloured water! Overall I had a great night because of the company, ambience and affordability of the place - drinks and feed me menu is definitely not as expensive as a lot of other Melbourne venues. The highlight of my evening however was the karaoke room - we had 6 of us do an hour session at $15 per head and it was a great way to cap of my birthday dinner. Highly recommend booking this in!! Wish I had more pictures but seem to have culled them before posting this review, sorry!

wagyu pad thai: 6/10. lovely flavours and decent portion size however wagyu was overcooked and chewy. bang bang chicken: 6/10. sauce was incredibly potent and rich, a little too much going on for my liking. could almost call it a little sickly. chicken was so tender and beautiful. truffle soup dumplings: 9/10. phenomenal! delicious, juicy and packed full of flavour. DIY pork rib bao: 8/10. quite $$$ for what you get but couldn’t really fault it. we also really enjoyed the paper cranes cocktails. soooo delicious, could’ve had 10 of them. a must try when visiting rice queen. service was spot on and had a great, lively atmosphere. i enjoyed the food but was not blown away by any means. would come back for the drinks alone though.

Everything was amazing. I would love to get back a lot of times. Vietnamita chicken was my favorite dish.

    - Dishes were good but I wasn’t wow’d
I’d recommend this place if you want to experience the tasting menu and have asian - They really took care of me as a pregnant lady and separated items for me that required anything to be taken out - Don’t go with boys for a birthday as the tasting menu wasn’t enough to fill them up - The Vegan salmon was really good, I don’t eat sashimi but had my partner try it and he said it tasted similar to normal sashimi. It’s pretty trippy because it looks like salmon - We all (8 of us) really enjoyed the curry - I don’t know, I really liked the salad lol I smashed it - The atmosphere is nice and a great place for a catch up with friends

We had the most delicious meal at rice queens. We ordered the chefs menu and a couple of cocktails and it was the most delicious Asian infused food we have ever eaten. A highlight dish would have to be the kingfish and the bang bang chicken. So delish would go back in a heartbeat.

One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne! Rice Queen has such an awesome menu, the venue is stunning and the service is excellent. The Feed Me/Banquet menus are great value and super filling. And the Vegan Salmon is freakishly good, tastes *exactly* like real salmon! Love everything about this restaurant and I will 100% be back!

Rice Queen is a hidden gem that deserves all the love! Our date night was beyond perfect. The Chef's tasting menu at $59 each was an absolute delight. The food surpassed our wildest expectations, leaving us astounded. The staff were incredibly kind, always attentive to our needs, and ensured our meals arrived promptly. The king fish and lamb rib bao were our personal favorites, bursting with flavor. The restaurant's beautiful decor added to the overall experience. We'll definitely be returning for more culinary bliss at Rice Queen. A definite 5-star experience!

Situated in a cavernous space and boasting a sophisticated yet fun vibe, this is the place in Fitzroy to go to if you're after an Asian fusion feast. Choose from dishes such as the tangy and fresh Kingfish Ceviche Pani Puri, or the crispy eggplant that is a mix of sweet and savory, or the tender melt-in-your-mouth Massaman Beef Curry, or the crunchy prawn toast that is super addictive. Rice Queen definitely tick all the boxes if you're after an enjoyable meal.

Our waitress for tonight Sao( apologies if ive spelt it wrong) was amazing. Our group of 20 had a very good time tonight at rice queen. It isnt easy to find a place for a big group with good service, food and with a very reasonable pricing as well. We had the banquet menu and both the meat and vegan version were delicious. Asian fusion cuisine is simply the best. Cocktails were good as well. Love the service, decorations and atmosphere, highly recommend this place!

Places was well decorated and the kingfish was nice. Our booking was at 6:30 but the food came out so slow that the we didn’t get our dessert until 9. The rice was undercooked so we couldn’t eat it and the ribs we had was mostly fat. The staff were sweet however every cocktail order would take 30-40 minutes to get made. The music was so loud we couldn’t hear what the waiters said or even have a conversation. I understand the “vibe” they’re going for but I like to have a conversation during dinner

Celebrated a friend’s birthday at Rice Queen last weekend - what a treat! We were so pleased with our experience at this Pan-Asian restaurant; amazing food, great service and very good vibes 🤩 The cocktails were so yummy! Would highly recommend trying both the Lychee and Cherry ones! Tasted very nice, easy to drink and had a decent amount of alcohol in it. Dan-dan noodles were very nice, super tasty and flavours were sophisticated. A little too much sauce though. Got the Confit Duck Pancake dish in the vegetarian mock meat option, it tasted really good with that coconut hoisin, most of the flavour was from the sauce (since it is mock meat - most likely made of soy) - overall an enjoyable dish, would try it with actual duck instead though. The XO fried rice blew us away! It was super flavourful, had so many great ingredients and they all went superbly together. Solid dish and would highly recommend! Quite generous with the portion size as well. Wish it came with more chilli oil though. Ga Nuong (forgot to take a pictures, sorry 😬) was the star of the show! This Vietnamese bbq chicken dish was cooked to perfection! 3 huge pieces of well seasoned and juicy chicken laid upon a bed of cauliflower purée - match made in heaven! The Tamarind Chimichurri sauce it comes with gives the chicken a kick of sour and really enhances the bbq flavour. Received complimentary Rice Queen Shots and fortune cookies. Those shots were super tasty and fortune cookies really adds to the experience. I would recommend booking tables with the non-backless seats, it was a little uncomfortable and the tables were really small’ Shout out to Austin for taking such good care of us! Can’t wait to be back ☺️ 🥂Delatite Higher Ground Chardonnay, Lychini, Pop My Cherry (x2) 🍱Dan-dan Noodles, Confit Duck Pancake (VGO), XO Fried Rice, Ga Nuong (no picture)

We would like to thank Ritchie and Natalia for a great night. Ritchie was doing a great job training Natalia and Natalia was doing a great job looking after us at our table. The food was nothing short of sublime. It was very impressive to be able to have dietary requirements so easily dealt with. My 84 year old mum tried the kingfish for the first time and loved it so much that she had two plates! She could not contain her absolute delight at that dish. We had an assortment of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes, and all were incredible. Our dishes were spotless afterwards. They catered brilliantly to my daughter’s FODMAP dietary needs, and they were attentive throughout the night. Fantastic all round!

Friendly atmosphere; We ordered the chef's tasting menu, which was delicious and perfectly balanced. There are many different options on the menu and they offer a vegan-tasting menu.😊

When you walk into Rice Queen, you are greeted by a welcoming atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. The kingfish was a delicious start to a flavourful meal from the sweet and saltiness of the lamb rib baos and the juiciness of the xlb and the creaminess of the beef curry everything we tried was an explosion of flavour. Each of the dishes were tender and flawlessly cooked to perfection. The mocktails are equally delectable. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the menu is extremely inclusive with gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options as well. 10/10 would recommend this to anyone looking for a delicious and filling meal near Melbourne CBD.
