Was great. We went with a kids boat that had a slow leak and had every intention of going through the tunnel. Well... the tunnel has a few sharp rocks in it, and 2 people in our leaking boat wouldn’t have been advisable at all. So we just paddled around the area instead. The tunnel is for the VERY adventurous. The water can be dangerous in there when the water is really flowing. Don't underestimate the water. We may come back with proper water shoes and head lamps - yes, even during the day... it gets dark in there. But, on the exit side of the tunnel, it really well suited for families, and the shore and surrounding area isn’t too deep. At the tunnel entrance, you have to find the narrow track to go down, but, crossing the river, it is over head high in places and not kid friendly if they can’t swim. There’s also a strong current there too, with hidden tree debris in the water.

Big park, ripe for exploring! Not too much shade so bring sun protection. Great to see nature thriving, even if Kookaburras keep laughing at you.

Scenic trails along the Yarra and plenty of Kangaroos to watch them watching you. Dawn or Dusk are probably the best times to see the Roo's moving around.

It's a really nice park if you're looking for something near Melbourne and is kind of accessible with public transport from the city with bus 906 and a bit of a walk from Warrandyte. You can experience the Australian Victorian bush with many native birds and walk along the Yarra River. A few nice tracks, some points are slightly difficult. The blue tongue bent and the black flat tracks are worth to experience.

On a personal mission to try to see as many reserves as possible. Really lovely place near the winding Yarra River. Serene bushwalks and great views. You can find nice secluded inlets along the river bank, which is handy if the muddy main entrance is not your thing. The water is bracing fresh, so it's ideal if you need to wake up or just need a hangover cure.

Huge park, great to walk along the river and under the shades. Saw an echidna on our way back from the blue tongue bend. Will definitely come back and explore other trails.

Lovely swimming spots. River fuller and vegeration greener due to recent rain. Good spot to see kangeroos and the odd snake. Picnic spots everywhere. Great scenic walk next to river.

Daughter and Dad out for a walk. What an amazing place! We went and walked on a number of tracks and had a great time. Tracks were hard but manageable, well maintained and well signed. Looking forward to going back. Ended up at Anderson Creek Cemetery. A peaceful and moving experience. Appreciate that one of the tracks let here. Thanks Parks Vic for maintaining such a fantastic place.

I always enjoy state parks. I flew my drone here. Plenty of walking trails and kayaking is welcomed. Dogs are not permitted.

Easy uphill hike with views of the lake. You're surrounded by trees and the rainforest scent is quite pleasant.

Came here on Christmas day. The carpark to the river is a short walk to the actual river. There's not that many spaces with shade however there are lots of flat rocks like a jaggered cliff that you can sit on under the trees singularly. On the other side it's a flat area with no shade that you can do picnic. A tip would be to wear beach shoes with strap as thongs or slides will break or wear an old sneakers as there's heaps of sharp rocks in the water as well as mud and they hurt when you step on them in the water. Overall was a nice experience. It got really crowded after lunch and we left when it got too noisy. There's also no toilets or none that I saw.

I'm quite amazed by the park's picturesque sights. Alongside the Yarra River, the walking trails were wonderful and filled with attractions. I also suggest this location for kayakers and fisherman.

Some idiot drivers while heading in. But otherwise nice clean area, very relaxing nap on the Riverside and kayak. Most people are considerate and maintain the relaxed calm vibes. Wish I'd brought snacks

My Lofty loop walk and can also do a shorter walk and go straight up the steep hill on your right as coming along the path. Can see rare birds, kangaroos, amazing views all around and Maroondah Valley. Definitely worth a visit for nature lovers and hikers. No public toilets or BBQ facilities at Lyon Road entrance.

We went to float down the river on inflatables as it was a very hot day. The river can get deep in some spots but mostly could stand up. There are plenty of spots to access the river & lots of shade.

Such a great attraction. Plenty of possibilities for all the family young and old. Easy to find, not a far drive/ commute. Public toilets on site. Parking (can become busy on warm summer days). Picnic tables and level picnic blanket space close to parking. Lots of shade. Easy concrete kayak launch spot. Swimming for kids (take wet socks/ shoes with rubber soles). Plenty level, easily accessible walking tracks, some more difficult with steep steps. MTB tracks.

Great park to stumble upon and a great place for a picnic and casual wanderings. he first time I've seen a live wombat up close. The wombat seemed cautious of people but unfortunately used to many families stopping for pictures. This womabt was hurt and a woman was calling it in.

Great bushwalk along the Yarra. I hour round trip, some places bit steep and slippery but awesome for the family. Felt like we were much further out Bush. Came across an echidna, lizards and a variety of bird species. Highly recommended

Nice park not too far from civilisation, with good access to the river. It’s a lovely place on weekdays when it’s all quiet, but it can get a little crowded sometimes on weekends, and when the weather gets warm. Plenty of wonderful wildlife too - we spotted a wombat hole near a picnic area.

well maintained, little to no litter considering how inner city it is. parking, toilets, nice and quiet with minimal car noises along some walks by the river. not sure it in necessarily accessible for all types of mobility though.

The health of the river is returning to better than I remember as a child. The bush is alot like appreciating art. Just sit and wait for you to get out of the way so the flora and fauna can be seen as they are. Such an oasis so close to the suburbs.... Essential.

Warrandyte State Park is a park beside the Yarra River. In this park, some paths are quite narrow, and you need to be careful and watch your step when walking, as stones and roots from trees stick out from the ground. Here you can have a good time, enjoy nature, see kangaroos, various birds or take a kayak down the Yarra River. In my opinion, this is a one visit place. It is a pretty big park with dense forest, so you can easily get lost if you don't remember the road from the parking lot.

This review relates to the Mount Lofty area, a subset of the larger Warrandyte State Park. Ever since I discovered this area of Mount Lofty some years back, I’ve enjoyed coming here - whether alone, with my father (as a bushwalking exercise) or with my young children (as a sightseeing exercise and a chance for them to see kangaroos!) There are a number of walking tracks, which tend to follow the meandering of the Yarra River. Gums tower overhead, birds flitter about and call, kangaroos roam and feed widely. This place feels remote at times so it’s surprising that we’re just a few kilometres from suburbia (and a large private golf club!) If you plan to walk here, consider sunscreen, suitable head covering, water and inform others of your plans if you’re heading out alone. Enjoy!

Lovely if there's no one else around. Then you can enjoy quietness and realise how damaging busy and noisy civilization really is. Hear the water flow, the wind in the trees, birds singing. Just beautiful when the Yarra is flowing peacefully.

One of my favourite place to walk, one issue is that it’s a state park with no dogs, every time I come here I see people with their pets both on and off lead, I always tell them the signs say no dogs but get ignored, waiting for the rangers to start fining people.
