This was my first trip to the Butterfly Club and I hopefully will come back from. My partner and I visited for a friend's birthday. We attended the Friday night piano session. It is ten dollars entry and you get to enjoy listening to all nights of piano songs on request. You can also sing along, so ultimate kareoke! The part I really liked, no pressure on cover charge to be cash. You can pay by card. Enjoy good two birds beer or one of the cocktails. The place is amazing with porcelain dolls, toys and amazing ornaments! Check out.

Came here recently for a comedy show and loved the interior of this venue. So many eclectic little odds and ends all over the walls. They had some good drink options and they allow you to take your drinks into the theatre which is nice. The entrance was a bit hard to find, but it feels very Melbourne finding a cool little venue down an alley way

Dazzling gem in the heart of the city. A kitsch dreamscape of soft lighting, more is more decor meets speakeasy secret vibes. The daring atmosphere beckons you into its myriad of unique rooms, inviting you to stay awhile and soak in a show or three and a cocktail or five. Delightful bar staff and a hint of adventurous discovery await you in this oasis from the ordinary. No visit to Melbounre is complete without a trip the the Butterfly Club. Everyone's welcome and you'll never want to leave.

Butterfly Club, Comedy Festival 2023. Great intimate venue with a funky collective vide. Last photo is the top room. Awful church seats. Typical Melbourne, walk down a dark alley to get to a cool bar.

Still one of my favourite bars in Melbourne! Brilliant for a subdued night out, the Butterfly Club’s quiet tunes and intriguing atmosphere encourages conversation. The tasty cocktails also help, and if you really want to make it a night then see a show!

It’s a vibe, always has been, always will be. Frequent a karaoke night, piano bar Thursday here, always so much fun. The bar staff are all super friendly, mixed with the perfect level of sass. Will continue to recommend this place to all Melbourne visitors and locals

Great night with friends enjoying a hilarious stand up show. was a last minute decision to come and watch but we were so happy we did! Cute little venue with 2 different stages and shows available to watch that night. The stand up comedians did a great job keeping the audience laughing and special shoutout to the talented guy behind the scenes in change of piano and music, he was a great addition to the show also! will definitely come back again and recommend our friends and family to check out this hidden gem too!

Amazing eclectic decor. It's your spinster great aunt's house who has so much money, yet all she does is collect kind-of-broken yet really cool old things and creates art all day in only the best way ever! The cocktails are great! The bar staff are friendly and can keep almost too good of a conversation! Hang out after the show for a lovely time!

I went to see the show Murder in Murderville with my friend, and I loved it. The show itself was funny, and the place itself had several things from almost everywhere, giving it a unique feeling. You will need at least an hour to properly admire every single thing in that room, even when they are not behind other things. I would love to go again some day.

Great venue, welcoming all types, with awesome shows and delicious cocktails. The blood orange mojito I had was outstandingly balanced, and the comedy has never not had me in stitches. 10/10

Thankyou to the girls who assisted us with access this evening and for organising a taxi for us. Excellent show (Mystery Radio). Loved the music interlude "Bright Eyes" ( Garfunkel ). Robyn and Paul ( Harden, NSW)

Good show, bar and atmosphere. We were visiting Melbourne and wish we had known about the club earlier in our stay, so we could have seen more of the shows. Enjoyed Exhumed with Bradley Storer, the one we attended and will go again

Funky place, great events on here! I would recommend. They have quite a range of regular fun events. Go upstairs and have a good drink at the bar, they have a good range. I usually have a good craft beer, stout or sour. Highly recommend this place!

Don't be scared walking down the alley. It's part of the adventure. The ub itself is an eclectic mishmash of everything. Great cocktails and nice staff. Two rooms for performances. Cozy and intimate.

Funky venue in a sketchy looking laneway. Bar service was great. Theatre was small, took me a while to work out the clacking was from a keyboard. Lots of stairs.

We saw 'the Witching Hour' and had a great time; the theatre was warm and comfortable. The staff were friendly, helpful which contributed to the show.

Went to watch Anna Piper Scott for comedy fest and was a spectacular experience. Amazing venue, brilliant staff, gorgeously kitschy, queer friendly & very clean. Nothing to fault, but a whole lot to enjoy. Couldn't recommend more if the above is your vibe.

Attended the Big Hoo Haa. Was the first time for us and we didn't know what to expect. We had a wonderful evening and will be back again. The venue is a little interesting too, with a vast assortment of items decorating the place. Thanks for a great evening.

Cute, quaint, and small club. Toilets are few in number and quite run down, with broken taps that don't turn off properly. Needs a bit of work. The bar area is full of interesting artistic decor, that works as a good conversation prompter. Could REALLY do with a coffee option. Not everyone drinks alcohol and the shows are at night. The performance rooms are a good size for the average small show.

What a fabulous place! When staying.in Melbourne for a few nights, we wanted to go to places we hadn't been before. We booked in to see 'The big hoo haa'! It was such great fun. We will be back!

I attended a free preview of Sammy J's material before the 2022 comedy festival started. We enjoyed a lemon, lime and bitters at the bar beforehand. An excellent venue, with colourful, interesting objects/artefacts/artworks on display. Would like to go here again. The staff were inclusive and I really love the ambience here.

If you're after a place with character that's not your average "trendy" bar, then the Butterfly Club may just be it. Everyone is welcome here, particularly across the gender spectrum. The decor is like a cosy loungeroom with trinkets and memorabilia galore. The small bar stocks the staples and does some delicious cocktails. It's tucked away at the end of a short lane off Little Collins St and worth checking out.

I visited for the first time last night, to see the mystery theatre. I’ve always loved old time radio, and the cast did a great job, I really enjoyed it. Look forward to the 2023 season 🙂

Melbourne's best small venue! Great theatre spaces, good bar, some of the best staff in the city!

My group's interaction with Simone began as a professional, enjoyable experience. However, after a minor misunderstanding, which we were more than happy to overlook and move on from, Simone's conduct instantly became deplorable. Their communications while we attempted to mediate this situation were nothing short of abusive; we were taunted, ridiculed, gaslit, and threatened. Although the rest of the staff is absolutely phenomenal, any performers considering getting involved with this venue need to be aware that the Butterfly Club cannot be considered a safe space while Simone is involved.

Groovy little club with lovely retro rooms to share a drink with pals or catch a show. Saw Tanya Lacey's Coming Up Roses 🌹 😍 Was fabulous! Take care to access from Little Collins St as internet maps liable to play up in CBD
