Food is good with generous portions. We were unlucky to try for a weekend dinner without a reservation. So we decided to get takeaway instead. They've got much less seats and there was only one lady doing table service and drinks that night. Overall, The ladies cooking and serving are all so lovely. They even gave us some bonus baklava sweet treats. 😋

Did the banquet set menu for 4 people, and overall the service was pretty good! There was a fair bit of hype around this place, and I don’t think the food lived up to it, if I’m being honest. It was all okay but lacked they lacked flavour or spice in quite a few dishes. A couple dishes were unique and more enjoyable like the eggplant dish, but frankly nothing I’d order again. The dessert was also pretty ordinary. For how much we paid, I’d say you can probably pay much less somewhere else for better.

Everything so good!!! There is no menu you chose course from 2 courses. I highly recommend course with tapas. You might be not able to finish all but tapas was so good! I’ll come back soon! Thank you💚

I came here pre-covid and the food was amazing. Now at their new location, the banquet was so disappointing. Nothing worth mentioning, for $45pp, I felt like I was stuffed with carbs & chick peas, nothing exceptional. The tastes were also quite sour for my liking. Slow table services. They say you can only have banquet if you eat in, but I don't understand why another older couple was able to just order what they want... overall I won't be back for sure...much better places out there for $90 for two.

Omg we had the best food at this place. We went as a party of 12 and what a blast of amazing flavours and service it was. We were served so many types of dishes that we lost count. Go for the banquet . It's the best. We all were full to our neck and still had tons of food to take away with us. All beautiful vegan food . We highly recommend this place. Super affordable and super fresh .

Food is standard; a bit bland. Service is decidedly sub-par; requests for clean plates ignored, staff ignoring requests. Hipster busy, not worth waiting

Was excited visiting this place as it was highly recommended. Was quite ok until I had to spit out the hair in my food. Lost my appetite after that and did not want to have the rest of the food. The manager was quite apologetic and nice, therefore giving a two star instead of a one.

An interesting experience. We were directed "around the back" and waited 25 minutes before being asked if our order had been taken. We were told that the food was vegetarian and asked if we had any allergies. I was hoping, since it was the Moroccan Soup Bar we might enjoy an interesting soup but was told that we would be eating an indecipherable "set menu"... The food was tasty and servings generous but the bill was staggering... The takeaway offerings are much better value. The temperature outside was 10° and it was not much warmer inside: we froze!

Food was delicious and hearty. It's $45 for a banquet and you definitely do not go home feeling hungry. If you're low carb or dont eat pita this place is not for you haha. I would give 5 stars but my only gripe is due to being a set menu there was no information on what we were eating as the waitress just put the food down without saying what anything was. I really would have liked to have known.

Food was excellent. The lady who was serving us for our dinner was so friendly and informative. All the dishes were explained to us. We were so full when we left and even had leftovers. The dinner was priced and served banquet style at $49 pp including entrees, mains, desserts, tea and coffee.

The take away meals were more than I had hoped for - generous, delicious, sustainable packaging. I had the DIY chick pea bake - very easy and looked fab on the plate - great for guests

Hidden Gem in Melbourne!! Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or omnivore, this place is amazing and have a rich variety to choose from. The portions are generous too ! If you are a meat eater you’ll probably change your mind about a “stripped” meal from animal proteins after tasting the amazing multicultural vegetarian dishes which represent deliciously Mediterranean fusion that you’ll not find elsewhere else in the country. I highly recommend Moroccan Soup Bar for their high quality product and their incredible customer service filled with Moroccan/Mediterranean unique hospitality. Enjoy :)

Insta: melbfoodie_mark YT: MelbFoodieMark ** Check them out for more food reviews in Melbourne! - Pleasant dining experience every time I visit! It's one of the places I take my out of town friends to show off vegetarian delicacies that can only be found in Melbourne. Always busy packed with customers but a part of me do enjoy that hustle and bustle vibe and energy this place gives off. We opted for $30 pp. Menu hasn't changed much since last year but instead of tea, they gave out lemonade (which I thought was an improvement since the citric kick balanced out rather nutty richness flavour). They also did add some dishes that came out with pita bread (didn't know what they were) which were absolutely delicious. Baked chicken peas was amazing as always and they truly feed you until you are absolutely stuffed

Very popular, usually packed to the rafters and long waits but when you finally get a table and eat here you'll understand why. Excellent vegetarian food, very delicious, with great variety and served at very good quantities and the prices are reasonable. The place has a very unique ambiance and the courtyard in spring and summer is also a great option to enjoy your meal with a Moroccan coffee and desert. Highly recommended.

One of my absolute favourite restaurants. Great for when I’m in the mood for vegetarian. I’ve eaten in at their new establishment and it’s as delicious as ever. I usually get takeaway once a week and it’s always on point! The pricing is very reasonable too considering they cook everything fresh daily here.

The set meals truly felt like a buffet! Loved the tapas and varieties! Especially for a vegetarian. The desserts were a little too sweet for our liking. But overall, it was a great experience! Although it is pricey, it is for a good cause.

This place makes vegetarian food so tasty! I never thought vegetarian food could be so delicious and full of flavor. This restuarant has helped so many staff who have been disadvantaged and am impressed by all the good cause Hana does. I definitely recommend coming here. Keep up the great work team.

I come here often for lunch and never leave disappointed - a real gem of a place that is fast becoming as popular as their main dinner establishment down the road. Dining in involves an assortment of various fesh, delicious and nutritious dishes served on a large plate. At times, expect to be treated with a complimentary glass of their own mint tea and homemade soup.

This is a Hidden gem which you got to check out My wife found this place while scouting for a places to eat and we wanted to check it out and we went for dinner the same weekend. That's how interested we were in this place. They are open for Dine in only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5.30pm - 9.30pm. They serve a vegetarian Moroccan Banquet which is priced at $45pp and trust us when we say the food is amazing. We got - Moroccan Tea - Bread - Tatziki - Hummus - Falafel - Briouat - Eggplant - Chickpea Bake - Cous Cous - Flavoured Rice - Mix veg Curry - Vegan Baklawa - Lemon Cake - Pikelets with Rose Syrup They start with the Moroccan tea and then bring in all the starters together. Every single one of the starter was delicious. The highlight of the starters were the Briouat and the Falafels. The main course was amazing our favourite was the Chickpea Bake. The flavours in it was extra ordinary. To finish it off with 3 different desserts. We loved the Baklawa and the Pikelets. Fair to say we were stuffed and we packed what was left to get it home had it for lunch the next day. They were also sweet enough to give us an extra box of Dips. Even though all their dishes were vegetarian we didn't miss eating meat here and it was hands down one of the best meals of the year.

Always have and always will love morrocan soup bar. The food at this new location is exactly the same, and the only difference with the old one is the atmosphere. They opened the restaurant within the warehouse due to high requests from their customers, but that does mean it comes with a makeshift atmosphere. No complaints here however, as the food is worth it, and it's not as tight and squishy to dine in as their previous location. They've done a good job of bringing that warm moroccan feel, considering the high ceilings and the commercial kitchen next door. Very easy to adjust from vegetarian to vegan, incredible hearty food, bring a takeaway container for the leftovers, or be gluts like us and leave with sore stomachs.

Loved coming here!! Only ended up taking a photo of the first course because the rest was eaten too quickly. SO much food for what you pay. We had to get takeaway containers to finish or mains. Authentic decor and ambience - absolutely highly would recommend :)

Over the years (10+ years) my family has been regular customers. We had the opportunity of visiting twice in February and we were disappointed at the cost and quality and found it wasn’t value for money at all. Ad per usual the staff were lovely and accommodating however the food offering and what you actually get for the $39 banquet has declined. The pita dish is always amazing but everything else is a little average.

So glad Moroccan Soup Bar has come to North Melbourne! Delicious food, great flavours, all vegetarian and incredible value. The meal pack & bake was easily enough for two. Easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there as it’s not near a main shopping strip, but now that we do we’ll be back regularly!

Table service - barely, they just throw the plates on your table. I don’t know what I ate except for the rice and desserts. 3 stars because the food I ate was good no issue with that - I knew it was vegetarian so the experience would be unique. Drinks lol good luck with that too, all we got was water or Moroccan Solo. (No drinks menu? wasn’t expecting alcohol but some variety at least) Made us have the buffet, we had 3 kids 11,6 & 2 years old and payed $45 per head - same as Adult rate. My 6&2 barely ate, and it’s not for the $45 per head its the serving a buffet for that many people and all the food that was wasted! My daughter asked me a few times what is that? And I had no answer because the waiters didn’t tell me either. How can they make you have a buffet with 5 adults and 3 kids under 11? Kids were fine with a some rice and a side dish. We came for a menu experience with friends, try things we wanted not for buffet of rice varieties and dips. Didn’t feel like a resturant experience at all. I left feeling like I had just paid a fine for going out on a Saturday night. Soup bar ? I didn’t even get a chance to try soup because we never got a menu. First and last for me.

The food here is good and varied. The mint tea was unlike anything i have drunk before. However, due to whatever reasons, the information available online is out of date. Ask the waiter/waitress what is happening/available and when. We enjoyed our meal/banquet there, but the price per person means we will not be returning for a long while.

One of the best meals and experiences I've had! We got the banquet (which was extremely reasonable) and it felt like the food just kept coming and coming. Incredible food, excellent service and great ambience - if i didnt live out of Melbourne i would be regularly returning to this place!

  • 2/5 Mister P. 2 years ago on Google
Disappointing experience unfortunately. The table staff were clearly under-trained and overworked; not allocating tables properly (so that we had 5 people on a table clearly too small), and not knowing the set menu well which was, well, a set menu. We also had to enquire with the wait staff when they brought out the incorrect number of food items which is never nice because it's not their fault. Most unfortunate is that the staff were clearly stressed. Food was decent (albeit expensive), but hard to appreciate in this environment that felt like it was hanging together by thin threads.

Goodness gracious this place is the single most consistently delicious restaurant in the Southern Hemisphere. Every single dish is rich with flavour and leaves you utterly satisfied. The chickpea bake is made by the gods. Thanks so much feeding us and making us so happy.

High quality ingredients with flavour bombs in each dish. Service was friendly and quick, giving our table an amazing experience, Entree and the chickpea main were the best dishes

I was first one to make a face when I heard it's vegetarian and no alcohol. But I m so glad to have dined here. I had the banquet, and every single dish was an adventure. The 7 vegetable curry dish brought back memories from my childhood and I almost cried. The fatosh dish is out of this world. Quantity 5 Quality 5 Value for money 5

We ordered the $45 banquet and everything was delicious and full of flavour. Our favourites were the capsicum and walnut dip, eggplant rice dish and chickpea bake. Next time we’ll bring our own containers but we walked away with enough leftovers for lunch for both of us the next day. The restaurant itself has a really cute, low key vibe and the service was great. We’ll be back again for sure.

  • 5/5 Tim O. 4 years ago on Google
OMG this place is phenomenal. I am basically a carnivore in my day-to-day life, but this vegetarian feast could get me to nudge in that direction a fair way. We did the cheaper banquet between 5 reasonably hungry adults, and could not finish it all. The chickpea bake of the night was a garlicy/yoghurty treat and was simply amazing (we found the recipe online once we got home, its now on rotation). The platter of dips to start were top notch, and the mint tea was a lovely surprise. Seriously, nothing to complain about. Get there, and try for yourself!

I was blooooown away by the variety and amount of food that was provided for such a reasonable rate! Went there for a friend's birthday dinner and we had to roll out of the restaurant, we were that stuffed. It's quite a noisy space with colourful Moroccan decor. Not ideal for quite and in depth conversations but if you want a bustling vibe and fantastic vegetarian food then drop in!

Very busy, definitely recommend going early or you could find yourself waiting up to an hour for a table on a ‘quiet’ night. Having said that it’s definitely worth the wait! The food is designed for sharing which is great because you get to try a little bit of everything. The banquet is only $25pp and you get so much food, we couldn’t finish it all but they were happy to provide us with a take away container (extra $2).

For a soup bar it only has two soups. The lentil soup tastes a tad sour like a tomato soup. The dinner pack was missing the chickpea bake so would have been much better with it.

  • 2/5 Elliot J. 2 years ago on Google
Food was alright. Staff had absolutely know idea what was going wrong. There was no menu to see & the staff were surprised when I asked what's on offer. I had no idea what sort of costs I was working with when making my order. When I got my lentil soup they couldn't give me a spoon when I had no option but to order takeaway..at a soup bar..I ended up sitting in the car drinking it like you would a coffee. The food is really the only reason it gets 2 stars.
