Love the place as well as place. The food was quite good and healthy as well. The staff was trying to attend everyone with big smile on face. Do not visit this place if you are in hurry. The concept of paying as per your convenience is fabulous. The people should pay here instead of walking off after eating.

5 stars for food, service and concept.. Meal payment is a contribution to overall well-being of the restaurant and people in need.. it’s truly a business that values social responsibility.. the menu is vegan, and simple :) you will simply enjoy the experience !

Tasty food, reasonable portions. Pay what you can for your meal. Always had veg / vegan options. Meals change but one option almost always centres around South Asian ("Indian") cuisine like a curry or dhal.

The okminyaki (Japanese pancakes) at Lentil As Anything triggered what has now become a deep and passionate obsession of mine! When I lived in St Kilda I used to visit frequently and the food was spot on. It can get very busy - expect a wait, to be seated, and to be served - don't visit if you're in a rush. But totally worth it. And pay it forward! :)

My favourite food place in St Kilda. Run by volunteers, Lentil As Anything is a non for profit vegetarian restaurant where you choose the amount you want to pay. Inside, around 40 people can sit with a couple more tables outside. Can highly recommend the lentil burger, the Japanese pancake dish and the curry dish. Do note thay it's get very busy and you might have to wait a bit before a table comes free.

Tofu burger is my favorite!! You can choose the price that you get and then put your money into the wooden box. Like donation system. Staff was so kind. They are volunteers.

First time here was January 2016, first time to try vegan food and I was so surprised how the food taste good, of course different but still good. I’m coming back all the time I can. My favourite are the lentils burger and the okonomiyaki, I have tried also carrot soup and taste good too. Also the people working there they are nice kind and friendly. Keep going guys

Absolute must. Apart from the great vegan food, which was really delicious, the idea is the key. Pay as much as you can afford, so that food Is offered at low prices to those who are in need. We paid "full" price as thanks to the lovely volonteers who work there and keep this wonderful place going. So wish the idea would catch on elsewhere!

Loved the concept and food delicacies. Appreciate the efforts of food makers who dwell into making so much food and serve everyone with same compassion yet do not expect any monetary benefits in return but what we can contribute in our wish! Kudos to the everyone from the staff to the owner. Hope we all can contribute more and get to eat amazing delicious food.

What a wonderful restaurant! I had the risotto and my fiancèe had the curry plate. We both loved our meal and the service was outstanding. There is street parking as well as a small lot behind the restaurant.

If you are in Melbourne you MUST try "Lentils"😍😍 it's such a unique experience with a rotating seasonal menu and you pay why you feel you can contribute. I had the "Oko" and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever tried. Cute setting in a great location, highly recommend!

Good food, friendly service, and (obviously) affordable. First of all: the concept of pay-what-you-want is of course very creative and hipster-like. We got our food after a short waiting period and it was good but not over the top. All of the volunteer waiters were very friendly and kind. The restaurant itself has a retro style and is located on a frequently visited but not crowded street. Despite all the positive aspects I have to das that it was not as tasty as in similar restaurants, which, of course, is reasoned through the payment concept. I recommend coming here to try out the experience but not to have a filling and delicious dinner.

I love this place! Its sooo good. It upsets me that I find it so hard to get a table because broke backpackers come here for a free feed. I would hate to see this gem go under because people take advantage of their payment system.

Much better now that they've changed the menue to just a few items we had the tofu burger was good nothing special but filled the need the chia pudding was runny like a drink so wouldn't bother again but overall for the fact you paid what you think its worth so that works

  • 5/5 Leo E. 3 years ago on Google
great vegan restaurant which also feeds the poor based on a business model of volunteers. i feel pure love for this kind of businesses. pay as you wish concept, not for free! worked there as a volunteer for a few times so I got some insights and it's just a great place ?

Vegetarian and vegan friendly. A must see of Melbourne and the first lentil as anything. It is smaller than the others and gets busy on the weekends.

One of the Lentil As Anything branches. Its a small place but had covered outdoor seating as well. Three items were on the menu for dinner (soup and bread, wrap, indian thali) Other locations have better food and atmosphere. Still a good concept though. Maybe better for lunch than for dinner if going to this branch.

Can't live up to the original one in abbotsford. Very crammed, usually a line up to get seated, table service. I prefer that in abbotsford you can walk in, help yourself to whatever looks good to you, and there's plenty of seating in and outdoors. Food: portions are OK but what they describe as "curry" is thin as a soup. Some dishes are quite spicy (like the lentil curry).

  • 5/5 David p. 3 years ago on Google
Fried Tofu is delish and chai is spicy like it should be. Go here and pay the recommended price and equalise some Karma.

Adored the idea and nourishment indulgences. Welcome the endeavors of nourishment producers who abide into making such a lot of nourishment and serve everybody with same empathy yet don't expect any money related advantages consequently yet what we can contribute in our desire! Credit to the everybody from the staff to the proprietor. Expectation we as a whole can contribute more and find a workable pace delectable nourishment.
