I love coming here and always recommend it to friends! The food is one of my favourites and the service is so nice and caring – the first time I came here was by myself late at night and they offered to charge my phone! πŸ₯ΊπŸ’“ Came here recently with friends and they were very accomodating of dietary needs (although there is no gluten free food available they were really transparent about this and allowed my friend to bring in food from another establishment!) Beautiful part of the collingwood community & plan to come back any time I'm in the area 😊

We wanted to try something new and different and Savanna did not disappoint. The food was very tasty, the meat is very spicy so be aware of that! But incredibly good! The restaurant was quite empty though (for a Friday evening) and only person working at the time - we didn’t speak much but could tell that she was ready to help if we needed.

This is my favourite Ethiopian!!! The vegetarian combo is soo amazing. I love the shiro chickpea sauce ❣️The owner is very sweet and lovely and cooks this all herself. Very authentic experience - highly recommend 😊

Amazing place for authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian food! We ordered the Vegetarian Beyaynetu – shared platter for 2 people ($54.90) where you get a taste of all vegetarian dishes described in the β€œPlatter Choices” with Shiro and served with injera. It was served really quick, and was hot. Everything about the mixture was oozing with flavor. We devoured it and were probably the only ones who cleaned up the plate with the last bit of injera and veggies. They sadly didn't have local Ethiopian beer at the time of our visit, but it will be worth checking in case you are ever there. Definitely coming back again for more food! The perfect value for money.

Very friendly staff and great options - sadly nothing gluten free, though

Got the feast for two and it was heaps of food. Enjoyable experience getting to try a mix of flavours. Would have preferred injera on the side to prevent it getting soggy from having the dishes on top.

Really enjoyed the food here. The vegan options was absolutely delicious (I was dining with non vegans and the lady separated the meat from the vegetables). There was a large variety of different dishes, 10 in total, all cooked perfectly. I’ve been to a few different Ethiopian restaurants in Germany, Spain , Kenya and Tanzania and this one wins for variety, portion size, flavour and value for money. The ingredients are spiced in a balanced way, and not overly salted. The injeera had a wonderful tang. Really fits the bill for a tasty, nourishing meal. Vibe was fantastic and the hostess was friendly and accommodating. I’ve been to Melbourne many times and this was my favourite new restaurant discovered on my trip in 2023z

It was a unique and pleasant meal. Interesting style. Good flavours and group oriented. It was nice to eat with my hands and get a bit messy. You don’t have to eat with your hands, they provide knives and forks. It was a personal choice for our group to embrace the African style of eating. Overall: Food is pretty good, serving size is decent. Not enough meat on the meat focused banquet plates. Rating: 7.5 for food. One lamb dish was exceptional.

This is easily the best Ethiopian food I have had - and I've tried so many places!! Would give more stars if I could, all of the dishes had the most incredible flavours and we were given such a generous amount. Highly recommend the vegetarian platter πŸ’šπŸ’š

The woman who runs this place remembers us from the very first time we went years ago and although we don't get over that way too often she's delightful. We asked if she sold take home because it's the most satisfying vegetarian option I've ever had and she said not really because she only serves it fresh and she is in the business to see the faces of her customers when they eat her food. A real gem. Don't doubt it and don't be put off by possible racists who complain about her. They're impatient, disrespectful, and unkind.

Recommend the share plate. Great prices for the serving size. Nice quiet restaurant if you go early. The share plate does not come on the bread, the bread is seperate.

My friends and I had the feast for three and there was quite a fair bit of food to get through. The food was definitely unique as I have never had Ethiopian & Eritrean food before and would recommend people to go and taste it for themselves!

One of my top 10 favourite restaurants in Melbourne! Delicious vegetarian options and amazing meat options. The injera is so good. A great place if you want to eat a lot but on a budget and great for group outings. Amazing gem in Collingwood.

By far the best Ethiopian we have here in the city. The platters are so delicious and the owner makes sure that you’re taken care of. It’s nice seeing the place full and everyone happy with their food. Highly recommend this place for bookings. We always bring friends and family or people from out of the city because it’s just a gem in the area.

This woman is stingy, rude and disrespectful. Go here if you want your vibe and energy to be sucked by this energy vampire of a woman. Read the other 100 reviews on how appalling her service is. Don’t do business here, don’t waste your time. There is a FANTASTIC Ethiopian restaurant in Kensington, do yourself a favour and go there.
