My second time visiting, and the food was consistently tasty, and service was friendly. I came with a large group on both occasions, although it seemed to take a lot longer for food to come out on our second visit. Would still recommend for good Italian.

We enjoyed dinner at this Italian restaurant on a weekday night, and the place was packed. The overall ambiance was cozy, and the service was impeccable. The highlight of the evening was the main courses. The squid ink pasta was absolutely exquisite; the filling was incredibly smooth, the sauce burst with flavors, and the king prawns were cooked to perfection. The chili added a delightful kick, taking the dish to another level. The gnocchi with blue cheese was luxuriously creamy, and the walnuts provided a satisfying crunch. We absolutely loved it. As for the appetizers, the smoked ocean trout stood out as the best among them all. However, the other three starters were quite disappointing. The scallops and ox tongue lacked seasoning on their own, and even with the dressing, they still tasted underseasoned and blended. The char-grilled octopus was a bit rubbery and required some effort to chew. Our dinner ended on a high note with a delicious Tiramisu.

Lovely vibe. The rating on google made me come here. 4.9 stars. I did the 5 course meal. I think it was average and perhaps somewhat disappointed. Maybe because I had higher expectations from the rating and review from others here. Great service though I have to say, lovely dining experience and lots of alcohol to choose from. I would come back here for the alcohol and service. Perhaps I’ll try some other dishes... apparently all the pasta are home made.

It’s like you are in Italy. Busy little Italian restaurant in Melb. Could not believe this unassuming restaurant on the corner would be this good. Service staff are lovely’s be friendly. Food was so tasty and satisfied. Try the mushroom risotto paired with their in-house vino.

An amazing restaurant. Full marks across the board. Very kind and professional staff. Booked for a birthday with a few requests and it was magnificently executed. Cuisine was top-notch with a perfectly executed course for both myself and my partner. I had a classic course while my partner had a vegetarian one and we both savoured the dishes to the last bites (see attached pictures). The wine also went well with the course, adding a silver lining to this excellent gourmet experience. Ambience was also very cosy with a gentle jazz accompanying the warm interior. Prices are very reasonable for the experience offered. It was overall a splendid experience which will lead me to come again for sure.

Definitely my number one favourite Italian restaurants in Melbourne. Every time I come back their food and service do not disappoint me ever. I especially love the duck gnocchi w white truffle which I order every single time I visit. Their pasta spaghetti dishes are always full of flavour (I must say some are more average than other dishes offered here tho-the red fettuccine looking dish in second pic) which I don’t often get in other Italian restaurants. They always offer more complementary bread to finish off the pasta sauce too which I always take (it’s that good!!). If you’re yet to visit this place YOU MUST TRY!

This hidden gem in the corner of Spencer and La Trobe street is one of those places where you end your day with a great meal. The place shares a good atmosphere with its staff who always makes sure that guests are taken cared of. The food is its most priced possession. The fresh pasta was one of best pastas we had here in Melbourne. The fish was the same, so tasty and so yummy. The flavouring just combines so well that it gives you a whole new world, a whole new pallet. Youll never be wrong visiting and dinning here.

We ordered 5 course set menu and wine pairing - worth every penny and probably my favorite Italian restaurant in Melbourne so far. The food is delicious, high quality and creative. The service was very warm and personal. The environment is cozy and ambient. I can’t fault it and both my partner and I agreed we would come back and recommend to our friends.

Magnificent! Perfect for a cold, blustery night in Melbourne - the place is decked out with portable gas log fires and is small and intimate. It feels like old school Italian and dining with tables spaced out so you have privacy, noise levels are low, wooden, trattoria features throughout. The food is innovative, modern yet delicious unlike a lot of newer places that have tried to hard and killed good Italian food. We did the five course with matched wines and rolled out of here completely satisfied. There's still so much on menu to try so we'll be back for a la carte. Also, for us, Christie made the experience. She is the epitome of exceptional service that's so rarely found these days. She should be promoted or given a raise, an absolute delight!

If you are in Melbourne, do yourself a favor and have dinner at least once at Foglia Di Fico! You will not be disappointed and will find reasons to go a second time to explore more of the menu. Friendly staff and chef is in tune with the palate of Italy and the community.

I am noting 5 stars because it's probably one of the best restaurant we went in Australia so far. Although I believe it deserves 4.5-4.7 star rating but the rating of restaurants in Melbourne seems higher than usual. Food was delicious with mix yet balanced tastes (no over powering flavour from one). Plates were very well arranged and served with good sizes. The setting of the place is fantastic as tables are not too close from each others and usually separated by something decorative (wine rack, furniture, lamp) to give you some privacy with your neighbour. The staff was very friendly. Booking was easily made possible from Google map. The only downsides I would note are: 1) location was a bit outside the interesting/ active city centre area 2) The decoration of the plate could be a bit too much as complicated dishes are usually harder to remember than simpler ones (e.g the traditional food such as pasta, pizza, rice dishes) 3) Because the risotto was very creamy (with a good amount of cheese) the dish reminded me more of something closer to "arroz caldoso" from Catalonia (Spain) than an Italian risotto. Overall, a great experience at a very reasonable price!

Absolutely loved the Trout and scallops. Incredible cooking and taste. I didn’t enjoy the pasta as much I had thought since we got truffles on it. Risotto was good too. Service was great by Luca and his persona with that moustache adds an extra layer to the atmosphere.

Very nice restaurant with wood panelling that feels both homely and sophisticated once you step inside from Spencer Street. Food is good and the quality is commensurate with the prices, although without any wow factor. Wines by glass were very good too, and in addition to the daily special dishes they also offer special red and white wines of the day. The night we were there they were two unusual Italian varietals: pecorino and ruche.

Love love love this little gem in the city! The steak and octopus was definitely one of the best I’ve tasted in Melbourne. Ever since I moved to Melbourne, I’ve been on the hunt for good steak. I was so disappointed at the pricey and below average steak I’ve had over the past 2 years. From squires loft, Meat & Wine Co, Kisumé… anywhere people say there’s good steak. But last night, the service, wait times, interior design, the menu, and most importantly- the food! It. blew. my. mind. And may I add that cocktail serving was generous too! Overall- the best dinning experience I’ve ever had since 2019. I have already recommended family & friends. Will definitely be back :)

From the welcome to the farewells, every element of service at Foglia Di Fico was exceptional. An easy to find, and navigate to, CBD address, on the south east corner of Latrobe and Spencer Sts. First impression when I arrived by taxi at 7pm was of a plain unassuming exterior. But as soon as I opened the front door the ambience was warm and woody, but almost hotel modern, Italian bistro lounge style feel. It is crisply neutral and muted, with a wonderfully displayed cellar, and with lovely sound baffling, and relaxed ambient jazz as background music. I could just feel the atmosphere unknotting any muscle tension as I sat down. As we sipped our sparkling water and pre-dinner cocktails we three decided to share all the dishes we ordered. So we began with three entrees: a dish of tender pan fried scallops, a fillet of rainbow trout gently smoked (with charred pistachio shells) served with slices of finger limes, and some of the most delectable crunchy and melt in the mouth arancini I have ever had. The serves were just the right size for entrees, just enough to tantalize the tastebuds, and set you up for the more robust flavours to come. We chose Moet et Chandon NV Champagne to complement our starters just because we felt like it, and it was a very satisfying choice. We followed this with three shared main dishes. A broken pasta dish with rabbit sauce with deep fried olives, that had a lovely silky feel and just enough tooth to give it substance and provide a wonderful springy support to the gamey flavours of the tender rabbit sauce. The second pasta dish was of canelloni with a savoury cheesy fishy mousse filling topped with a generosity of razor clams and pippis and a sublime yet robust sauce that tasted like a cross between seafood bisque and clam jus (that was almost plate-lickingly good). Then our ultimate course was a substantial piece of beautifully cooked and presented medium rare rib-eye beef served with mushrooms, baked onion, fresh horseradish cream, and seasonings. A side dish of rocket and pear salad, and another of perfectly cooked seasonal vegetables rounded out this course to repletion. Still keeping it fresh we accompanied this wonderful set of main course flavours with an immensely quaffable Pinot Grigio. We contemplated dessert (the menu was most intriguing) but that would have been one dish too far. This was seriously excellent food without being fussy, or trying for gimmicks. Excellent ingredients beautifully cooked and presented with no overclever fiddling. Each mouthful was delicious and full of clear tastes yet it all worked together so smoothly that you suddenly realised you'd cleaned your plate while chatting and were savouring the aftertastes just as much as the mouthfulls. The service staff were warmly and smoothly professional and Jerry, the Owner and Chef, was incredibly hospitable and given we were sharing each dish between three, made sure to provide easily divisible servings and presentations. Then as we left he presented up with a memorable digestif, an Italian myrtle berry liqueur that had a subtle herby fragrance and was like a fruity faintly resinous version of Benedictine. A perfect ending to a memorable meal. The prices on the menu were very accessible, and could have been much higher for the quality we received. This restaurant was just understatedly excellent. As we left we all noted that the streetscape is much more attractive after dark, when the interior lighting was glowing out through the cedar venetians and the polished expanses of plate glass. Showing the warmth and welcome to passers by, and looking very inviting indeed. Five definite stars. This restaurant is a gem.

An impeccable Italian dining experience with superb service to boot. We had the 5 course menu with arancini, squid ink pasta, lamb and tiramisu. Food was absolutely perfect with great flavours. Special mention goes to the waiters who were excellent too.

Absolutely beautiful! The ambience, the food, and the service are top notch! My favourite is the scallop, patate, potato gnocchi with braised duck, the filled pasta and their complimentary sourdough (these are the MUST try!). The seafood is so so fresh!! The taste is just amazingly beautiful! So rich in flavour that it engages all your tastebuds :) The service was awesome as well. All the staff are knowledgeable, attentive, and very friendly! They know what they offer and serve which is brilliant! Thank you Jerry and team for the amazing hospitality :)) Definitely be back! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Came to dine with my wife for our one year anniversary and was massively impressed by Foglia di Fico's five course menu paired with wines. We started our dinner by some nice bread and some drinks, which were followed by nice fried cheese balls and amazing entrees with smoked scallops and veals. Then the main courses came with seafood pasta and steak done to perfection. Last but not least the dinner was end on a high note with fluffy tiramisu dessert. Shout out to Nico who was amazing with his curration and attentiveness. Definitely we will be back to sample the rest of the menu. 5/5. 10/10. Just wonderful!

Outstanding authentic Italian cuisine. Master combination of flavors, textures and visuals that all combine to deliver a dining experience that exceeds expectations. The chef guided 5 or 9 course dinner is a wise move to sample more of what’s on offer. Knowledgeable staff highlighted and explained each course expertly. One of Melbourne‘s few restaurants where every item on the menu looks delicious and tempts a return visit. Highly recommended!

I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. Went to Foglia di Fico last night and we’re still smiling at how good the food and service (Serena) were. Very intimate atmosphere, warm lighting, it’s hard to remember you’re in the middle of busy Melbourne. The food was exceptional, sophisticated italian flavours with an edgy twist, every plate that came out was better than the one before.

Had a very pleasant experience here. Had the 5-courses meal twice. Food was amazing. Staffs were very friendly and professional. They remembered us on the second visit. Definitely will go again. Chef was worried about serving too much meat on the second visit but we thought we’re fine. Turns out he was right. Will have the seafood pasta next time.

I loved the pricing of food here. It is not at all costly and the quality is also good. They have got different types of cuisines to serve. I have ordered Chinese and I loved the food. Their staff is also very helpful and they suggested me choosing the best menu for my dinner date. Moreover, the interior of this restaurant is also attractive. I think this is the must-visit restaurant and I strongly recommend them to you all.

Was here for my birthday dinner and had the set 5 course menu $400+ for 2 people (including added truffle, wine pairing and drinks) Great for dates or solo dining. Probably not a place for large groups. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful and cozy. Staff were friendly and attentive. Staff were knowledgeable about the food and wine. The food was absolutely delicious. Edit: After leaving my inital review, I received a call from the restaurant manager. He had cleared up some misunderstandings surrounding the night (1. Being around the online booking platform 2. Being my request for truffle to be added to a dish - i thought i had somehow offended the chef but turns out it was quite the opposite. I must say that the truffle complimented the already tasty dish beautifully - I recommend you give it a try too). I have to say that this restaurant is like no other. They clearly have love and care for the food they cook and serve and just as much love and care for its customers. I now hope to come back again someday - keep up the good work 👍

My compliments to the restaurant and staff and it’s absolutely beyond expectations! We enjoyed a lovely night in here with relaxed ambience, first class service and above all, beautiful yummy food! Highly recommend the scallop, octopus(entrees) and beef steak(mains)! Seafood pasta is a little bit average compared to other dishes (needs more cheese for me). Also expecting they can offer tiramisu next time! 😛

Enjoyed everything. Food was quite tasty, just a little bit something was missing for it to be perfect. Squid ink pasta was lovely, but I wish there were more roasted or fresh tomatoes in it. Prawns cooked to perfection. Sardines starter was a bit too acidic. Tiramisu was very delicate and just about the right sweetness. Very well deserved compliment to the chef and the team. I really liked the interior. It reminded me of Europe in winter, very warm, cozy and intimate. Reminded me of home.

Foglia di Fico is undeniably Melbourne's premier dining destination, earning its rightful place as the city's number one restaurant. My recent experience at this Italian gem left me amazed, as each dish exceeded all expectations. The excellent service provided throughout the evening elevated the experience, ensuring every moment was met with attentiveness and expertise. From the first bite of the Vitello Tonnato to the last forkful of the Bistecca di Manzo, the impeccable service complemented the outstanding cuisine, making it a truly unparalleled dining experience.

Really nice food, excellent service, great ambiance. A little bit overpriced since the portion size is relatively small, but the food is so good that I forget about the price. The service was really nice. I was there all by myself, had pasta and steak delivered to my table at the same time, which made me feel bit rushed and overwhelmed. The waiter apologised afterward and offered a complimentary dessert. Appreciate that very much. Had to say the tiramisu was out of this world, impressively good, extremely well balanced. Will definitely order it again. My fav dish is the squid ink crab pasta, tastes absolutely beautiful. Truffle mash was brilliant. The mandarin bergamot mocktail was perfect, loved it so much. Will be there again soon.

Went here for dinner, very cosy, nice, clean warm venue. Staffs were all attentive, helpful and informative on all the dishes they serve. Food is just divine, well seasoned, paired with nice selection of vinos. The place has ample space between tables so not crowded and you don’t really overhear people’s conversation. I’d give the place and our experience at Foglia a 10 if I could, truly superb dining experience we had. Will def come back!

Chose the 2-course menu which was just right for our stomachs. We visited on a Friday night. Service staff were attentive. Highly recommend the pan-seared scallops (tasty and tender) and the trout which were both appetizers (antipasti) Our waiter recommended the deconstructed tiramisu for dessert and we ordered 1 portion to be shared amongst our party of 3. For cocktails, we recommend the Figlio di Fizz. No surcharge for card payment.

We had a Beautiful dinner at the restaurant. The service was flawless by a Korean lady and our entree was perfect and well balanced. We actually enjoyed it more than the mains. Our seafood filled squid ink pasta was really tasty and the gnocchi was fresh. A few down sides with plating, especially for squid ink pasta. It was flat and not appealing at all… Also The steak we ordered was juicy, but tasted plain and lacked some flavours. However, Despite a few disappointments, Our experience at the restaurant is very positive. We are impressed with exceptional ingredients & fresh pastas were amazing. It is worth a visit. We will come back to try more in the future.

I almost want to write a dismissive review so that this gem of a restaurant stays accessible but how could I? They deserve accolades for their understated perfection. When I read that this restaurant was so highly rated I was cautious. Would it be pretentious? Outrageously expensive? It was neither. I ate the stuffed pasta which was undoubtedly my favourite ever pasta meal. Others in our group had gnocchi options which were also perfection. Dessert was similarly subtle and exquisite. The decor is quaint and cozy. Service again was attentive yet charming. Just keep this quiet, please. I want to be able to return and return.

Does not need to say too much. Everything is nice just a little bit slow, I guess because everything is fresh made. We ordered five course meal and last for two hours. Nearly 20 minutes of waiting for one meal. However, all of them are good. Will come back for the 9 course meal.

Went here for my birthday dinner and can definitely say this is one of my top 5 dining experiences in Melbourne. Waiters were knowledge and gave impeccable service. Food was phenomenal, beautiful ingredients, amazing presentation!! We had the five course chefs menu and wine pairings. The wines were also amazing and complimented every dish beautifully. The wonderful waiter that greeted us at the door managed to squeeze us in without a booking, even though they were fully booked. As a chef myself, the food was some of the best I've EVER eaten in my life. The gnocchi bought a tear to my eye, it was so fluffy and perfect. If I could have gone into the kitchen and kissed all the chefs on the mouth I would have. Amazing atmosphere, amazing food, AMAZING staff. Cannot recommend enough.

Menu was extensive and all of the dishes were of a good size and very tasty. As entrees we shared Arancini, polpette, salumi misti, octopus, trout and an insalata Caprese (all of which were priced from $21.50 to $28.50). All were good but I think the standouts for me were the Aranchini and the octopus.

Last night I went to Foglia di Fico with my boyfriend, the location is so romantic. As soon as I entered I felt like at home and, since we are Italian, this aspect is absolutely fundamental. The tables are perfectly organized in order to give the proper privacy to customers and the waiters were fast, kind and meticulous. We ordered three entrees and they were a great start of the dinner. The first course was gnocchi, melting and soft as we never tasted before, I warmly recommend it. The rib eye as second course was properly cooked and the mashed potato was unbelievable. The mix of desserts was incredible, the perfect end for the dinner, especially the panna cotta captured my personal taste. Although the night was busy, the chef had the chance to interact with us, it was a pleasure to meet him. I noticed that the restaurant he is running is like a family which cooperates and communicates in a great manner, achieving perfection for each single detail: from the food and the presentation itself, the selection of ingredients and flavors, the service, up to the location. Thank you for this excellent and unique experience!

Perhaps, the best Italian restaurant in Australia. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the pork belly dish. This place has a great selection of drinks, a beautiful intimate Italian decor and very professional staff. I can't wait to go back.

Fantastic food. My partner had the gnocchi while I had the twice-cooked pork belly....amazing. The service was impressive too. Very kind and thoughtful team members, even ensuring that when we left one of them rushed to the door to open it for us. Will definitely be back again in future and will recommend others to visit too!

10/5 stars from me! Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a very lively staff who happily showed us to a table and quickly explained the specials that were available. We were then served sumptuous sourdough bread that left us wanting more! My pasta was delicious and tasty too! The lobster calamari was perfectly cooked - super nice and soft that really complemented the pasta well. Overall, was very happy with the place! My wife considered coming again the next day!

Me and my partner had a lovely experience at this restaurant. The food was divine (probably the best we’ve tried in Melbourne) and the waitress was very kind as well. We had been served by an Italian guy who was very polite and kind to us. He even accomodate my request to bring a little candle on the dessert since it was my partner birthday :) The atmosphere was also amazing!! Thank you so much for this experience, we will definitely come back:)

Lovely restaurant with exceptional service and great food. The staff were extremely helpful and patient throughout our whole dining experience. All the food was cooked well, especially the seafood. Would've liked a better selection of cocktails as I don't drink wine (they're more of a wine place). Highly recommended.

I’d love to visit again. I'd recommend it as a nice place to go with friends, family, or a partner. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. But not many options for the main courses. The staff also offers a wonderful drink menu. Overall, Helpful staff and brilliant service. Best night ever!

What an amazing, homely place to eat some fantastic Italian food. The ambience, service was great. Our favourite besides the food was the cosiness of the place. Definitely going back there.
