Probably my best Vietnam food experience in Mel. They provided set menu for $110 pp. side dishes are oysters and roast ducks. I love their white wooden table and the style was natural and fresh. The main dish noodles were delicious and I kinda started to love it. My fav last night was the prawn with sticky rice. Besides, you could always have some wine and spirits in Mel together with your food. Recommend for any special days.

Perfect place for special occasions like anniversary or date night. It is a semi-fine dining experience. Food are seasonal and too notch for most of the dishes. Highly recommended the raw Beef and the mussel if it is available. Food - 9 Service - 9 Vibe - 9 Price - $$$$

The food was interesting although a touch expensive for what was offered. The Moreton Bay bug special was nice enough but at forty something dollars I felt it was quite expensive for one bug. Their zucchini was so delish and was a great starter as it’s a bit sour and get your appetite going. The pipis were amazing too! They are so fresh! We ordered cod for mains and a herb garden as a side salad. Cod was cooked w turmeric, garlic, corn and spring onion. The cod was a bit tough, but the flavours were amazing!!! The “herb garden” was fabulous though and goes so well with the fish flavours. So it was such a bit that the cod itself was a bit of a letdown. Dessert was this durian and white chocolate parfait which was surprisingly light, a perfect finish to our night.

Last Sunday, we had lunch at Anchovy Richmond in Melbourne. It was a memorable Sunday lunch. Relax atmosphere, nice decorative and excellent care & services from staff. We had chef's choice menu. They were Coffin Bay Oysters with beautiful dressing; delicious prawns; fish marinated with turmeric wrapped in banana leaves served with fresh garden salad and herbs those are hard to find at this winter weather; yummy duck hot pot served with hand made noodles and very sophisticated home made coconut ice cream. The foods were full of flavours, mixing between Vietnamese traditional and Thi's (the Chef) personal tastes. We enjoyed so much that we forgot to take all the dishes' pictures. LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! Highly recommend!

We thought this was a very fine place. We were here for a birthday celebration and had the feed me menu which was excellent. Dish after dish of lovely interesting and inventive food. The wine list is small but there’s enough on it that demands attention. Service overall was pretty good on the night.

Anchovy was worth the mind-numbing traffic we endured to get there. Every morsel popped with flavour and the twists on traditional Vietnamese dishes were delicate and pleasant. The “snacks” served at the start were more like entrees in their number and generosity. I kept remarking to my husband “I could eat a whole plate of these” 😅 On top of that, service was amazing. I’d definitely recommend it!

My favourite Sunday lunch of 2022 so far. Informed, attentive service and a chef that rocked my socks. Highlight was the malt vinegar sorbet oysters and multi texture coconut dessert. Just yum.

Dropped in for the lockdown takeaway bahn mi. Both the pork and chicken were super tasty but definitely don't go expecting a traditional style crackling pork bahn mi. This was spicy, fresh and flavoursome. Went on a Tuesday before 1pm and there was a small queue. Waited about 10 minutes in total between ordering and collecting the goods.

Been meaning to try this place for ages. Recommended by some of Melbourne top chefs. I must say, it was one of the best asian fusion restaurant I’ve been so far. Everything was very delicious. We’ve ordered the crab (it’s a must), duck with dry noodle (sauce was so tasty), ox tongues skewers (yummy), Baramundi (good sauce), peanuts, lamb, carpaccio .. they were all so good. The place is small but quite romantic. Perfect for special occasions. The service was 5 stars. Highly recommended

Chef's selection is a good way to be introduced to the restaurant. Noodles with bbq duck was tasty. Be prepared for robust flavours. The staff are helpful to guide in making good choices to enjoy the evening. Love the ambience, it has a restful feel.

Great Asian Fusion (mainly Viet & Thai If I remember correctly) restaurant. Quite authentic. We had the Chefs menu and everything was absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and attentive. We got there at 6PM and it wasn’t so busy, so not sure if it’ll get busier later in the evening.

Definitely go with the chef's choice so that you can get a taste of everything. The roti and the fish with the Asian herbs was definitely my favourite. Having trouble choosing no problems just let the friendly staff there make the recommendation.

Beautiful food, service and atmosphere. Great menu for sharing or for yourself. Simple dishes yet full of flavour. Their banh mi is a must try - pillowy centre and crisp crust!

Pretty good overall. Started off really strong with the entree! Really good hit of spices and such. But then from main onwards it just a bit meh

Incredible experience at Anchovy the food is sublime. The tasting menu showcases the talents of Thi Li and was quite filling. It is a small restaurant and quite relaxed with lovely service. Every dish has a story beautifully told by the team. The owners are talented and have created something very special. Their reputation has travelled far with Nigella Lawson dining there the night before us. Thank you Thi & Jia for your warm hospitality and an outstanding dining experience.

Service was nice, if not slightly slow for our taste. Food was lovely. Bit annoyed that you have to pay $50pp to book, and then when you have a gift card that $50 comes off before the gift card... so you end up with money on gift card remaining (not enough to buy another meal), but out the booking cost. Seems backwards and left the meal rather annoyed.

Excellent food! Every dish was beautifully executed. Highlighting great local produce, classic SE-Asian flavours and superb modern technique The wine list wasn't particularly long but was very sophisticated. Great choice of whiskey and gin Bookings for two are seated at the bar

The food is stupendous. The school prawn bar snack is addictive. The pickled mussels is the best interpretation in town. There was an excellent tomato and fig salad dressed in plenty of herbs and a very funk-forward sauce. It was ulam... But with tomatos and figs. Genius. My husband loved the blood sausage lettuce wrap. The chef's choice is fabulous value and a great choice. Small but perfectly formed and interesting drinks list (with reasonable prices!). The staff are also a great asset. Knowledgeable... And just always seem to be hovering nearby the moment you are ready for your next drop/snack.

I really enjoyed the food at this small venue. We had very good service and the chef came out to talk about the special dietary requirements of one member of our dinner party.

Slinging some premium lockdown banh mi's. Asking $12 set the bar really high but I think they've lived up to expectations with really fresh ingredients. Bread had a good crunch without destroying the roof of your mouth. The jungle sausage was just an explosion of flavour and spice. Balanced with enough herbs and pickled carrot and finished off with their signature chilli oil - made for a very satisfying lunch

We dined here for our anniversary and it was absolutely delicious. Service was warm and attentive. All dishes had so much flavour and I felt so much nostalgia eating each dish. Loved our experience and would definitely recommend. The custard apple icecream was a standout!

If there was a six or seven stars, Anchovy would hit them. Easy. With The at the helm in the kitchen, and Andy and JY on the floor this small Boheme restaurant in Richmond is a true delight. I can explain each of the wonderful dishes but you can't describe the joy of biting into a small mochi baked in a tea cup with a flavourful umami of shallots and fish paste on top. Or the pleasant-induced grin from a roti-like sesame bun with an anchovy butter. There's a Murray cod fish lightly grilled with an Indian inspired paste, served with iceberg lettuce, fresh herbs, a pickled Daikon, hot Brinjal-like pickles and a sweetish dipping sauce. Absolutely worth a visit. I forgot to mention the sweet dish. It's in the photos. You end up lying to your friend so you can get an extra bite.

Went for dinner with my partner. We got the tasting menu and loved the food, paired with drinks recommended by the very friendly and enthusiastic, not to mention knowledgeable bartender. It’s also reasonably priced, especially for the quality of flavours, so it will definitely become one of our regular spots. The only negative I can think of is that we both thought that it was quite dark inside, and that slightly turning up the lights would have been nice.

My partner and I dined here for valentines day and were very happy with the experience. We ordered the chefs selection, which they were able to cater to my vegetarian dietaries. The portion and quality of the food was great. Lovely service as well. Modern asian food done tasteful.

Great venue for modern Asian with a twist of Australian mixed in. Stand out dish was the scampi with butter mopped up with the ultra flaky and crispy roti bread!

We had to try the food at this much talked about establishment. A mix of Southeast Asian food mostly I'd say Vietnamese inspired. The Raw cobia, persimmon, bánh bèo, cincalok was lovely and the Grilled pork, turmeric, lemongrass, bellman were just perfect. We finished off sharing the Caramelised mushroom custard, mandarin, tangelo which was to die for. I would definitely come back.

Anchovy was amazing, by far the best meal I have had in Australia! Or maybe ever. And they have a bar to eat at! And without pretensions. Anyone would love it. Booked at night but the lunchtime is usually walk in. A young Aussie Vietnamese woman chef. It's sublime and light. No fish sauce or hot ? flavour, just the taste with home fermentation of Kimchi and other foods. Only one coffee to finish which is like a cocktail. The wine selection is perfect. Highly recommended.

Anchovy’s veggies were a letdown - not fresh, yellow, and dirty. We paid $80 each for a set menu that was just okay, with 4 snacks, 1 soup, and 1 main dish. The clam curry soup even had sand in it. There are so many better Vietnamese and Southeast Asian places out there. Don’t waste your time here.
