It was a bit sus as I walked into the restaurant - there was no Korean staff nor any Korean guests (which is not the usual case of a famous Korean restaurant). Then I searched the internet and knew it was a FAKE Bornga running by a Chinese owner. The genuine one has pictures of a Korean chef named Paik Jong-won. Meat quality was okay to be honest, but knowing that it is the fake one, I would never visit here again. 짭본가입니다… 속지 마세요!

staff aren’t properly trained to handle/cook food at all. the hot plate was supposed to be replaced after cooking meat the first round but we had to actually tell her we wanted a new hot plate because we can’t cook on a dirty one. service was extremely slow, judging by the size of the venue & the number of servers they had (at least 5 I counted). had to repeat our order for 5-6 times because they kept forgetting what we wanted. definitely won’t go back & won’t recommend especially if you’re looking for good food.

    1. This is fake Bornga. The real (and better) one is in Chinatown. 2. The place looks like it used to be a Chinese KTV / Mahjong den 3. Jjajangmyun noodle is not authentic. They serve the supermarket version that lacks the characteristic elasticity of real Korean Jjajangmyun 4. Soondooboo stew is water + bit of spice with tofu swimming in it 5. BBQ pork was tough with unimpressive marinade 1 star for the semi-friendly staff who worked hard to salvage the reputation of the restaurant

Very poor atmosphere and highly overpriced for an imitation Korean bbq experience. I came here thinking this was the genuine Bornga, but as soon as the side dishes came I knew I f’d up. Very average meal and would not recommend to anyone.

Came to get my fix on Korean black bean noodles. This is one of the three places in the CBD I know I can get it besides Han Guug Kwan and Korchi. A little dissapointed with the overall experience. The dish itself is average but very pricey ($18) considering I can get better quality and cheaper at the other two joints. The chicken also not hot (temperature) when it came. Food - 4 Service - 6 Vibe - 5 Price - $$$

Came here for lunch and left well fed. The lucky 7 set had seven servings of meat. Each one different from the others. Fully satisfied.only downside was I kept on having to ask for sauce over and over again. They should just supply the table with a bottle of the chilli sauce.

If I could give a zero. Fake Chinese accounts giving this place 5 star reviews 😆 Where do I start. Firstly given the wrong order, pork was cooking on the pan when the waitress realised and then put the half cooked pork back with the uncooked pork and took the plate away, absolute terrible food safety and hygiene standards here. Poor quality of meat. Poor quality of service. Slow service. Over priced. Slow to bring order out. Never replaced the hot plate. Condiments brought out untimely. Fake KBBQ. Very very unhappy.

I'd say that I'm an experienced connoisseur when it comes to Korean barbecue restaurants. This place just meets a very basic standard of Korean BBQ. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is mostly clean. Meats 3/5 The Meats were well marinated but the quantity was very small Condiments 2/5 It felt like this restaurant was reluctant to fill your condiments unless you ask for it. Boneless Fried Chicken 3/5 If you are purely coming here for the Fried Chicken, Don't! There are plenty of other place's in the CBD that specialise in Korean fried chicken. Seafood Pancake 3/5 The flavour was there but the pancake itself was quite soggy! Overall, if you are after a basic experience of Korean BBQ, then this place will suit.

This is a fake Korean restaurant owned by non-Koreans. The real Bornga is on Little Bourke Street

Be warned this is not the excellent Bornga Korean Restaurant in Little Bourke Street. We accidently booked this dodgy restaurant that uses the same name. Nonetheless we gave it a go, sat down at the restaurant and felt very uncomfortable so we left. They have charged us $10 for the privilege even though the place was nearly empty. Do not recommend.

maybe a little bias coming from myself but this is where it all started for me. my love for kbbq. the service is great, staffs are super friendly! the dining is very clean and spacious, you can have a whole meeting or family reunion here. the table really caters to all needs no matter the size. I need to admit that serving sizes are not the best, but the quality of the food is top notch. I'm not one to sugarcoat anything. I've come here at least a dozen times, it's my go to when my friends and family allow me to pick. It's always great fun and I've never had poor memory here. I'd come again and again and again.

This is the copycat Bornga trying to piggyback off the success of the real one in Chinatown. I’m hoping this review will prevent the unsuspecting from booking the wrong one!

Incredible experience - staff are wonderful, very attentive and welcoming. Got the lucky 7, the meats were delicious. It is a colossal amount for two people. Couldn’t near finish it all! Will definitely return when back in Melbourne.

Food was great! Lovely and helpful staff. Between 2 people we ordered 1 portion of spicy pork belly and spicy chicken, 1 soy fried rice and 1 seafood pancake & we were full and had left overs.

we were eating in the store today. A waitress in black with a white bow tie in her hair had a bad attitude. She rudely told us that we could not bake anything else on the BBQ plate. She repeated it three times, and we asked her to change the BBQ plate for us.she left without saying a word.

I have never eaten at a bad Korean barbecue restaurant like this. The food is not good at all. Every dish when brought out also disappointed my family. The meats are not fresh, the decoration is not eye-catching. I feel it is a waste of time and money to use the food service here. I hope you don't come here and be disappointed and annoyed like me.

Totally different to the one in Chinatown even has same name - Restaurant doesn't have enough light for dinner - Foods are really poor, how come traditional Korean BBQ doesn't include any vegetables? Also the foods doesn't look fresh. - I got my cold noodle on tray with 2 big blocks of ice on top, doesn't look good at all - Pork belly was cut really thin and feels like 1/4 compare to the one in Chinatown -the beef was rolled and look like it has been in the freezer and wasn't ready for customer - not much sauce, no kimchi included. Too many thing to make our dinner went wrong that night It makes me think like this is a copy version and we will never come back again.

The food that we ordered was extremely cheap for the price of two. I think we ordered the Large Meat Set for $55 dollars and it came with complete side dishes. The staff who took our order were very helpful. I think he cooked half of the meat for us. Lol We went there Thursday night around 8:15pm, but surprisingly we were the only customer until closing time. We felt like we had a private dining. The toilet was really nice and clean and it has a bright lighting and loud music playing good Kpop songs. The toilet had a full body mirror too. Left happy and paid $64 for 2 people dinner. We’ll definitely recommend this to others.

The staff were friendly but had no clue as to how to wait on customers. We were brought to our table and a waitress came past 15 minutes after being seated and offered to take our order, but we were yet to be offered menus. When we asked about the menu the waitress could’ve differentiate the 2 black bean noodles on menu - and she “wasn’t sure” what comes with the set menu. Black bean noodles and seafood stew were good however we ordered beef set menu and it was inedible. We did not finish our meal - all meat was gamy and tough. I would’ve given a higher review is pricing matched the low quality meat and food.

Absolutely love this place! I was taken here by a friend & now I bring all my friends here even the ones travelling. Food is amazing, quality is great! Portions are also great size, always leaving me full & the staff offer take away containers thankfully! The staff are super nice & very helpful. Hot plate gets changed over as well. Not a long wait for food as well. Even free sides like as much kimchi as I can eat! 5/5 stars absolutely! The negative stars are very confusing especially claiming things that are definitely not true.

Horrible food here. I will never come back. The cold noodle is all stick together even worse than the picture. That noodle is what it looks like after I separated. And I ask waitress about it she said i should mix it immediately when it is served. But no one told me before. We order bbq as well. They told me i need to order lettuce for $3.80. Speechless. Don't go to this place
