Convenient on the south bank good access for prams/wheel chairs/walkers and plenty of open areas. Being on the Wharf certainly adds some charm. The sand pits are great for those with children. Food was great and included burgers, fried favourites, desserts and some speciality dishes. Plenty of beverage choices also.

Halloumi was excellent. The taste was so unique and stunning. Great compliment with beer under the sunset and evening breeze. What's a satisfaction. 5 stars Fish and chips was mediocre. Comparing to gold coast peter fish market, this was nothing. Fish and chips here lack if the freshness and original taste of ocean and fish. Secondly the flour was overfried. 2 stars The beer, bricklane one love was outstanding. So good to compliment all those small bites. 5 stars Ambience was great with light music and sunset view. Wow. So relax and we wish the time stop here.

One of my new favourite places in Melbourne! We visited the Boatbuilders Yard before going to a concert, for lunch and some drinks and it was perfect! Great central location, amazing staff and delicious food/drinks! Also love the ability to order from your table on the app - super handy Also, honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had (Waygu Burger, add Bacon) 🤌🏻 Highly recommend this for a great lunch/dinner with friends/family! Recommend booking a table in advance too! 👌🏻💓

The Boat Builders Yard restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere with friendly and welcoming staff. Despite visiting during a busy time, the wait for my food wasn't too bad. However, it did get a bit lost in the hustle and bustle of the breakfast rush. But hey, I wasn't too bothered because I was too busy enjoying the stunning views and the natural beauty of Melbourne city. When I inquired about the delay in my food, the staff promptly checked with the kitchen and my order was out in no time. They even went above and beyond by offering me a free beverage twice to make up for the inconvenience. Although I appreciated the gesture, I didn't really need it. Overall, my experience at The Boat Builders Yard was pretty great. The casual and laid-back vibe, combined with the scenic surroundings, made it a memorable visit.

Great place to hangout with friends. Perfect one for weekend or Friday night. Bit busier in weekends, you might wait for the table. In eve, loud music creates a pub ambience. Service on time. Staff members are gentle. You can get vegetarian options beside non veg. Just beside Yarra River. Outside and inside seating arrangement was available.

Came for a light lunch after an exhibition at the Melb Convention Centre (MCEC). Venue is nice and relaxed; get a table by the water for added charm (but really anywhere is just as comfy, especially on a nice day) they have a QR code scan-order-pay system, or order and pay at the bar. Servers were friendly and attentive, and they will let you know if there is a long wait for food. Food was simple and nice. Good place to go to if you’re within the area.

The lads at boat builders yard are unreal, service was quick and polite, especially for the busy long weekend. A beer riverside coupled with top notch service can’t be missed. Shout out to james for pouring an epic pint, highly recommended! Cheers guys!

Recommend spot to see sunset and grab a drink with friends. It was my first time here. The view is amazing. You can either scan QR code to order foods.

Had the lamb tacos which were awesome, should have had the four James suggested. The beer is great, try the Old Mate. Great conversation and service, drove me back for a second visit in the three days I was in Melbourne, thanks James. Best working environment I have had in a long time, look at the views.

Nice dinning! We've had Cajun Charred Zucchini and Kingfish Ceviche, the both are good! Had a great time at Melbourne.

Firstly, I love cafes that now use the table QR codes. It makes it so much easier to look at the menu, order and pay through your personal phone at your own leisure without bothering the waitresses. This place is great to stop by and have a coffee in the morning on your way to wherever you are going. Peaceful spot to sit by the water and good for some people watching for everyone who walks past. The fruit toast in this photo was fresh and crispy just the way you want toast to be. Definitely a place to stop again 👍🏻 $16 for fruit toast and iced coffee.

I love this place. Known by those who work nearby as Meeting Room B. Although, I think my boss might have had spies planted to monitor our behaviour and eves drop on our conversation. 🐦

Service was exceptional. We had a minor issue with one of our meals and the manager was apologetic and resolved the issue swiftly. Food was definitely unique and I would definitely describe it as modern Australian with hints of other cultures thrown in which I love. Beautifully presented with lots of flavour. Will definitely be back. Than you.

Me and my dad had a lovely time here. I ordered "American Super Salad" while my dad ordered some calamari and chips. The food, ambience, and the service were really top-notch.

We had a staff Christmas lunch and I needed a venue close to my hotel. The Boatbuilders Yard is perfectly located. Atmosphere is great. Decor adds to the location. Staff was friendly and polite. Service was spot on quick. Food was delicious and had good flavor. Definitely will visit again. I can highly recommend.

Boat Builders Yard offers a delightful experience with charming waterside ambiance and delectable food. The views complement the delicious dishes, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal by the water. We ordered Angus beef burgers which were so yummy. Aperol CocktailS were beautiful too. Angus beef burger 5/5 Carlton Drought beer 5/5 Aperol Cocktail 5/5 Tomato sauce 5/5 (It was really delicious and different 😅)

Atmosphere is to go for, service was ok.. but food was appalling... we ordered 3 starters, felt let down with quantity and taste. Guacamole had oil flowing from the nachos and chips we countable for the price..

Had lunch here on a Friday and it was a full house. It was very busy and food was served very slow. Food was average, overall maybe need to give this place another try. Atmosphere was good as it was by the waters.

Wonderful food and service! I got the fish and chips on the kids' menu, and it was perfect for a small meal. The fish and the hot chips were delightfully crispy. Very kind staff plus an excellent view of the river. Highly recommend.

Sincerely appreciate the extra effort to make our birthday celebration noticeable from the moment we arrived with the reserved table & the signage which had a birthday wish. Welcoming our dog Archie as well on the sign was a lovely touch as we all love him and love to take him with us when it's possible to do so. It's a small thing, but so nice as well. The food was great, service was very respectful and welcoming; a lovely touch. The staff were so friendly and seemingly a happy staff. Please look after them. We need top shelf staff to make people feel good whenever we're out and enjoying special times with friends and family. Thanks so much for all of this. Would love a larger size option for coffees. That's the only bit of constructive criticism, otherwise love everything about your venue. Our first time there but so really worth our while to come all the way from Langwarrin to celebrate a birthday breakfast on a public holiday in glorious Melbourne sunshine. Cheers until our next visit. All the best.

Enviable location ... Ordinary food ... coffee were so-so ... Love the good old-fashioned service from the lady ... she's just gorgeous ... you can either QR code the menu, and I'm happy to go through the menu with you ... that's rare!

It was a nice place to have some beer and chill. I enjoyed the view. Chips were good with beer. But tacos were below average, too dry and lack of flavour.

I like this place but I’m sure it’s better with warmer weather. TBY was a short walk from my hotel so I gave it a try. This is the type of place where you either order at the bar and find a seat or order via phone. I’m not a fan of that but that’s becoming pretty popular here. I ordered the Angus burger and a cider. The cider is always good and I really liked the burger. The milk bun was soft and the burger was juicy. I’m not a fan of the pickles but I’m a foreigner so it’s probably just something I’m not familiar with. There wasn’t any service to speak of as explained above. I like the location (right on the river) and the price was fine for the area. I’d recommend giving it a try.

A great place for a casual dinner and a few drinks. Parking is close by . The menu is limited but delicious and reasonably priced. Absolutely love the outlook onto the river . Great place to be at sunset.

One of my favourite places to eat and drink at Southbank Pros - great drinks - amazing staff (we were served by a South American lady and also a very friendly young man, both of them simply the best) - good food Cons It could get a bit cold outside, but that’s just melbourne. Also a big shout out to the super friendly and accommodating staff, there is a long story that I won’t bore anyone with, just take my word when I say they are AMAZING

One of our favorite places in South Wharf. We are never disappointed by their drinks selection and food choices. They serve an excellent mulled wine during winter, so don’t miss that.

  • 5/5 U K. 1 year ago on Google
Mulled wine and boozy hot chocolate, what more can you ask for on a winter Friday night. We were seated next to the fireplace which was a plus. Great service and you can order at the table by tapping the QR code.

Enjoyed all the meals we ordered. Not a long wait for food. Smaller sized meals so order entrees. Reasonable price for great location, nice ambience to the place with fire pit outside. Staff were polite but seemed under the pump or new. Did note most restaurants during our stay in Melbourne seemed to have limited staff most likely due to covid.

The Boatbuilders Yard served Modern Australian cuisine in a modern setting with a great view of the wharf. The meals we tried were pretty decent though nothing special and very much typical modern Australian. It was a great group dinner/drinks venue also as it was quite spacious inside.

The location is excellent which is next to DFO and facing waterside. Great place for food and drinks. They serve burgers, salmon and veges, fries, etc. Food taste was above our expectations and was great! Will come again if visiting Melbourne 😊

Service was pleasant but not much offered when ordering via table app. Food was almost inedible, everything tasted cooked in oil including scrambled eggs. Presentation was pretty, but taste not equal. Drinks were nice. Was overall disappointed in our meal.
