I was glad to have lunch here and with a group of 8 people on a Friday. The restaurant is not very large so would recommend making a reservation. The downside to this is that you will need a credit card to book. They serve western dishes but Asian inspired. Lots of steaks and ribs on the menu and platters to share! A few pasta dishes too which looked really delicious. We ordered the Melange Seafood Platter for 2 people. It was delicious, fresh and not overcooked. I am keen to come back and try the meat platter and pork ribs! The service was warm, friendly and attentive without being annoying.

My aunt celebrated her birthday here last night and it was absolutely wonderful! Service was impeccable. Servers were attentive without being obtrusive. The owner checked on us multiple times as well, to ensure all was well. The food was beyond incredible. I highly recommend the Ginger Olive Platter and the Sweet Ending dessert platter. We loved everything! Will gladly visit again.

Decided to dine here after reading the rave reviews. Very nice restaurant in Manchester Lane, good lay out with outdoor dining. The service was great, good variety of dishes to choose from - being a lover of eggplant I thought I’d try the eggplant dish, I was a very disappointed as I found a very very thin layer of eggplant surrounded by a very very thick layer of overcooked bread crumbs, could hardly see or taste the eggplant at all, nonetheless the curry sauce & veggies served alongside were good. My husband had the reef & beef which he thought - the beef rib was a little tough, barramundi was dry, average battered prawns with a regular salad, definitely not worth the price we paid. Lovely atmosphere!

We found this little gem down an alley of Flinders lane. WOW the mixed grill plate was amazing. The service from the young man followed up by the owners was exceptional. When in fabulous Melbourne this is a must do.

Found another hidden gem in Melbourne CBD! We were looking for a place to have dinner and glad we came here. We ordered the signature platter dish (the ginger olive platter), and it was so worth it. Great place and good service. Definitely recommended :D

Luckily, we stumbled on this little gem looking for a place to eat on our last night in Melbourne. Wow. 10 minutes after we were seated they were fully booked four the night. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, I'm so happy! We ordered the Ginger Olive platter. It was amazing. All food was prepped and served at piping hot temps all together, great work! Buckets of flavour, service with a smile, what more could you ask for! I'll be back for sure.

Great BBQ and well suited for a nice occasion. The ginger olive platter was fantastic, especially the succulent slow cooked beef rib, and nothing disappointed. The mango and strawberry romanoff was nice and light in flavour, not too sweet. Although it was an amazing dining experience, nothing stood out well enough to make it memorable. Expect to spend ~$60 per person.

Definitely a 4.5 star if I could. The service is very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The value for money is amazing! Great food and amazing flavours. Side salads and salads are beautiful, different and flavoursome. Good drinks menu that has cocktails, wine, beer, spirits and more, you won't miss out here. No complaints at all just missed half a star as it wasn't the wow I expected. Definitely worth a try. Great job ginger olive!

A nice and cosy restaurant run by a family. Service was exceptional and professional. The seafood platter was generous with many sea food varieties and well presented. Had the wagyu steak, which was OK. The dessert platter, which has a variety of options that suited us very well, was a stand out. Well done to the Ginger Olive team.

I was expecting more and found the food not up to the standard I was expecting. We both ordered steak (Porterhouse and Fillet) with one being rare and the other medium. The rare was medium and the medium well-done. For the price we found them chewy and a little tough. The starter was nice and the best thing was the tomato relish with the steak. The saving grace for us was the service where they were always ready to please and make sure you are happy. With so many restaurants in Melbourne would I eat here again. Maybe not.

I chose this restaurant because it is a high-ranked one. The price is higher and thus I would expect more. I ordered a ginger olive platter for 2 persons so I can try a variety of foods. The prawns and fish are good. However, the ‘slow cooked’ beef is not up to the standard and it is really tough and we can’t finish. The BBQ chicken is thin and dry and the pork is so so. In general, the service is good, but the seat arrangement is not generous for those with some bags (even it is only 30-40% occupied) The environment is quite noisy and the seats are slightly close.

Lady boss was very nice to put us indoors though we did not make a reservation, it was a cold night and she was very accommodating. The camaraderie amongst service crew was great, they were energetic, prompt and full of smiles. Food was great especially the slow-roasted beef ribs, you won’t need a knife to cut the piece up, effortless and melts in your mouth. For first timers, try the ginger olive platter for 2. Sweet potato fries are a must have and if u have space for more, go for the deserts! Will be back again! 🤩

This is the only restaurant i visited twice during my 7 days holiday in Melbourne. The owner and staff are very friendly. The 1st time we ordered Seafood Linguine, Chicken, mushroom & Pancetta Luguine, BBQ free range chicken and BBQ baby black pork ribs for dinner. The ribs are very good. the children love the cheesy chicken mushroom linguine. the sea food linguine serving is generous. The 2nd time we went for luch and tried seafood Linguine in olive oil based and the original cream based, salmon and barramundi. Also got the sweet ending platter. Both the fish is very good, there is no smell at all. Simply put it, i dont need to use the lemon. the dessert platter is fanastic (just look at the foto. i highly revoomend it.

Down a side street not far from Flinders St station. Had an early dinner here before attending a show at the nearby Athenaeum Theatre. Warm welcome even though we arrived early for our booking. Attentive, friendly and quick service. Really enjoyed the high quality food. Desert was a real treat. Would return.

The place was nice and our servers were all lovely! The food had great flavour but the lamb ribs we ordered were very chewy and we couldn't eat much of it. Would recommend trying but just skip the lamb and get the other meats which looked delicious!

Had a lovely dinner with hubby & daughter yesterday. Ordered the BBQ platter and ravioli to share. Must say they were delicious. My only peeve was that it was noisy as the place inside was rather small. Should have sat outside instead.

The best grilled plate in Melbourne! We had the bbq sharing plate and sweet potatoes as a side dish. The portion was generous and price is great. Lovely and cosy restaurant I will revisit again

The platter 2 was so delicious, we love how the slow cooked beef was done and the taste of grilled chicken was great. Top quality! Loved the meat and dessert platters for the whole family. Very tasty, will come again. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and explained every dish.

Lunch special $19.90 was adequate. Barramundi, mango salad & Chicken Parma & chips. Parma was least enjoyed, dry, not nice flavour. Barramundi was nice, but small, sitting on lots of salad. Was tasty, but mainly cabbage. Too much. Service was friendly, and attentive.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided on this gem. Service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the Ginger Olive share platter and chips. Each bite was amazing. Staff sang happy Birthday to 2 of their customers. They were welcoming and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Incredible food with the BEST service I've experienced at any restaurant. The staff are so nice, welcoming, helpful and a special thank you to the server who made my favorite drink for me dispite not being offered on their menu. My husband and I recommend the BBQ meats platter for two, we changed the sausages for chicken which was much appreciated as on our first visit we didn't know this was an option. We will be back again!!

Came for their lunch deal - selected items for $15. I ordered the Napolitana pasta (olive oil, garlic, tomato, herbs) with parmesan cheese on top. It was simple and served quickly. I'd like to come back to try their other food items. Super friendly staff!

Ginger Olive is a hidden gem. Restaurant is small and cozy! Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is delicious and platers have a great size. Truly recommend the ginger olive share platers and the beef bbq. Great value for money! I will come back.

We dined before the VIC lockdown 5.0. This restaurant in Melbourne is located in the middle of CBD. The food was so yummy and delish especially the BBQ. The sweet potato was also yummers. The service is great! The only downside is small space and no Rice!

Food was so delicious and the service was fantastic. A great little find. We will definitely be back. Also suggest you try the Brûlée and Mango Crepe.

Wouldn't have expected a restaurant like Ginger Olive in this lane. Stands out in the quality of food and friendliness of services provided. Also excellent price - value ratio. If you wish to experience great food (manly meat, but also vegetarian options) in a very friendly atmosphere, Ginger Olive is a choice not to be missed.

I can't fault anything. My friend and I shared 3 starters and each were amazing. The service staff were super attentive and we felt really welcomed. Excellent margaritas too 😊

Been coming here every couple weeks for work lunch, food is always delectable and with beautiful flavours. The service though is what elevates this restaurant. The staff are the pinnacle of exceptional service. Always incredibly friendly, accommodating and with the nicest smile. Highly recommend.

Great service tonight we came early for our reservation and seated early for our booking time. Waiter was exceptionally attentive but let me just take you to the menu served......was really tasty was like every thought was taken to give an amazing tasteful feeling of every dish. The different meat cooked on platter was cooked soo well, the sweet potato chips cooked to perfect oh did I mention the meat again just amazing😅. If we had more time we would have finished off with dessert platter but didn't get there...there always a next time. Definitely book in advance you won't regret it.

First time dining here. 5:45pm reservation, and the place was already fairly crowded. Popular! Carbonara was really good - not oily and eggy. Scotch fillet cooked beautifully, but could've done with a bit more seasoning. The red wine jus was a bit runny, but full of flavour. Ribs and snag were delicious - tender, great flavour. Very quick and friendly service. Good range of drinks, including mocktails. Not the cheapest, but worth it. Definitely go.

The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing! Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Even the salad was tasty! Our waiter, Ryan, was super attentive and even went above and beyond in making mg friend's birthday special. We are so grateful. The owner also came to check on our table. It's a hidden gem.

Can't recommend this restaurant enough! Food and staff were amazing! Very accommodating for us with our one year old. Also a great range of food. Being one vegan, a vegetarian and a meat eater it's hard to find places where we can all enjoy the food but I highly recommend the vegan pasta and Udon noodles and my partner loved the rib eye We will definitely be back when we stay in the city next ☺️

My partner and i ate here last Saturday night before a comedy show, we found this close by on the internet. Cosy and intimate, we ate early (530pm) so only a few other tables came in after us. The gentleman serving us was very hospitable and helpful with questions. The mocktails were delicious, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the flavour combinations were super tasty, would definatly recommend and return. Thank you

We have been to this restaurant twice already and will be back again! Not only is the environment a classy but relaxing vibe in itself but the food is absolutely mouth-watering. My boyfriend and I shared a beautiful seafood platter which we demolished in seconds and have also tried the ribeye and tenderloin steaks which were delicious. I am always on the search for a good piña colada and Ginger Olive did not disappoint. Even though it was not specifically on their drinks menu, the staff went out of their way to make little adjustments to an already existing cocktail to give me the piña colada that I have been longing for. The customer service was second to none. A special mention to Kyle, Ryan and Sophia. It was the friendliness and excellent customer service that made our experience that so much better!
