ORDERED: Sunday lunch 02/04/2023 ($55.00pp) + 🦪 Sydney rock oyster ($6.00pp) 🍞 Wholemeal sourdough flatbread 🍆 Roasted eggplant dip 🥦 Cauliflower piccalilli 🐓 Smoked chicken rillettes 🐟 Confit Ocean trout with preserved lemon 🍚 Lentils, carrot & parsley 🥗 Salad greens with mustard dressing 🍰 Almond cake with cardamom cream I spent $61.76 here (including card surcharge). REVIEW: From the first set of dishes, I loved the combination of the wholemeal sourdough flatbread and the eggplant dip. The flatbread is one of the best I've ever had. It straddles the line between the perfect crunchiness, yet a sweet pillow-like softness that leaves you wanting more. A smattering of salt is ebbed by the smooth creaminess of the eggplant dip. ❎️ Chicken rillettes were essentially cold shredded chicken (didn't taste much smokiness), but the pickled cauliflower gave it a bit of interest. Confit Ocean trout was as buttery and tender as I hoped. It's much better than the confit duck (french) counterparts. Lentils were an awesome accompaniment, along with the green salad and its tangy dressing picked from the north of Melbourne. ❎️ Only wished that at the price we paid that we would've gotten a dish each instead of sharing one. ❎️ My friend also found a pin bone in his portion of the fish (pictured). I know it's hard to find 100% of them, but I would expect them to be found at this price point and type of establishment. Dessert gave me strong Turkish flavours with the spiced elements coming through strong. ❎️ My friend didn't like it so much, but I thought it was great. The service was friendly. The waiter serving us was on top of filling our water and ensuring we had a great time. ❎️ Wish we could've heard more about how our food was locally sourced. To summarise, Bar Liberty is a great environment that really feels European with its colour palette and decor that provides delicious food. Only wish they could've been more generous with the portions.

Great night with amazing food & wine - the set menu was perfect and the snapper & steak within that were the highlights. Dark horse was the cabbage dish which was beautiful Be aware, the reason for the 3 stars was the awkward & cheeky way they take payment & tip. Their eftpos machine makes it hard to not choose a tip option & the staff watches over your shoulder as you pay. Also charged us for sparkling water even though we didn’t ask for it. Probably would’ve tipped anyway but the way they go about it leaves a bad taste in your mouth…

We had a great time on Friday evening. Reservation is necessary. $70 for 4courses (two plates of every course except dessert) we ordered extra Sydney oysters for stater. Food was good and it inspired some Polish food. Serve was great and taste good! But only thing, in overall the atmosphere was a bit noisy.

Bar Liberty has been one of those restaurants that I have been seeing on everyone’s Instagram and hence have been wanting to visit, so when we finally booked to go I was very excited. The food was absolutely fantastic, I could not fault it. Everything dish we had was delicate, adventurous and left you wanting more. The drinks were also delicious, I was happy with my rose/orange wine mixture, which was very drinkable. The vibe/decor/setting is very Melbourne so I won’t go on about that. The staff were lovely, bubbly and a bit of fun. Happy to have a chat with us and clearly very passionate about the food and wine which is always great to see. The only downsides for me were the portion sizes. The wine sizes felt a little ‘low tied’ but I am happy to omit this light critique as the glasses were huge and the contents of the glasses were delicious so maybe just a bit of an illusion. The food portions were however a little small for the price, not a big deal as I love supporting places like this and the food was phenomenal but just a consideration. Overall I couldn’t recommend Bar Liberty enough. It doesn’t disappoint and I definitely will be returning. 5/5

We had the best night. Food and service were perfect! Our waitress Jacquie (not sure if spelt right ☺️) was absolutely amazing, very attentive, funny, sweet and the perfect amount of interactions. The food was great from start to finish! The flat bread hands down the best I had! I love the fact that is a house adapted to a restaurant, makes the atmosphere very nice and cozy The wine by the glass (Granache from Languedoc FR) was incredible! Definitely back and recommended

Very cool spot! Really considered wine list backed up with staff who know what the go is. Snacks over the bar were delicious. This one is staying on the list.

My partner and I booked our anniversary date night here on June 26th after a recommendation of my close friend. We had the set menu as well as fresh oysters and we were so impressed! All of our dishes came out at perfectly timed intervals and all plated so delicately. Our favourites included the Pickled cucumber, Raw beef with walnuts, and Baby Barramundi with kohlrabi. Our wait staff for the night were very quick to attend to our wine top ups :-)

We visited on Sunday for their set menu. Loved the flat bread and cacio pepe potatoes. Atmosphere was homey and almost felt like we were having lunch at a friend’s house. Would highly recommend!

Amazing value with the set menu. Well done with the pork chop - both succulent and flavour. I would've giving more stars if I liked eating vegetables

From start to finish, wonderful execution of the food. And service was impeccable. 2nd night out of lockdown but you wouldn’t know it, this place operates like an extremely well oiled machine. Creative menu. We had the set menu which started off with delicious snacks - the torched kingfish was blow your mind good. Great balance of flavours. Moving onto the entrees - the venison tartare and soft curd were beautifully presented and were absolute winners as well. Unfortunately the let down came with the main - the steak and potatoes were very salty (and I love my salt!). Steak was also over cooked for me - medium to well done. But happily it ended on a high, just as it started, with the delicious dessert of date cake and clove custard. Service was faultless.

One of the best dining experiences available in the city. Exceptional service, and a diverse and interesting menu consisting of mostly shared plates. The atmosphere was intimate, moody, and full of life, a small simple dining room that just works. A highlight was being offered bread post spaghetti to mop up all the glorious sauce👌🏻

Great vibes and terrific service. This is a lovely place for on-point meal and wine. In a precinct where hamburgers can range to $40, this bar does gourmet shared dishes at the same price.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. The food is always amazing and the wines are always perfection. Service is always outstanding. Came here for our anniversary tonight but never need an occasion visit. Highly recommended to absolutely everyone.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Not a single dish missed. That flatbread is undefeated. The bread miso noodle was INCREDIBLE. 10/10!

A hidden gem in Collingwood that will pleasantly surprise you as it looks like a bar but is actually a fine dining restaurant that not many know about. Well priced and excellent service as always means I will be back again & again!

Bar Liberty has become a bit of a staple. Don’t just stop here for a drink though— the kitchen consistently puts out interesting and delicious food which beautifully complements the excellent wine curation.

Arrived at 11pm on a Tues night (closing in an hour), was told about the last pour. But bar manager Nick being super friendly and didn't mind having a quick chat. What was meant to be one drink, ended up being 2 serves of wine + a cheese board. Would definitely return next time to try their kitchen food.

Was really happy that there were so many vegan options when I asked, but slightly disappointed that 3/4 options for the entire/mains were so oily. Still a great dining experience, if not a little loud at times because we were so squashed. Definitely will come back!

The service was so good-natured and stellar that multiple tables in the room were saying how great it was. Olivia (our waitress) was indeed amazing and we had a great evening!

Bar Liberty’s Sunday Lunch would have to be Melbourne’s best kept secret. At only $45pp it’s such incredible value. When travelling to Melbourne, Bar Liberty is always on the list. Can never fault the service and the offering is bang on. Perfect spot to stop in for a wine and snack, settle in for the night in a cosy corner or enjoy a boozey Sunday lunch as we often do.

What a delightful place - elegant yet not stuffy, classy yet not pretentious. The server was friendly and attentive, the wine he selected for us was fantastic. The food itself was a highlight - everything tasted great (even the stuff I wouldn't usually care for). Get the flatbread and save room for dessert.

We had such a great experience here last night! The bartender Josh was incredibly helpful with navigating us through the wine menu and shared some great wine knowledge along the way. We ordered some snacks at the bar and were blown away by the upscale quality of the food. Looking forward to returning for their $50 Sunday lunch.
