Malaysian Laksa House

Restaurant Malaysian restaurant

😐 Let’s get back to basics. Good Asian food, let alone Malaysian food is easy to come by in Melbourne. Today I dropped in here for a quick laksa and that’s what I got. 7 minutes from ordering to table. The large bowl was full of well blended flavours that had my eyes watering with delight. Nice amount... People often mention laksa, Laksa, chicken, good, Malaysian, service, Melbourne, restaurant, delicious, quick,

2024: The Hawker Laksa is now $18.50 at the start of 2024. Disaster. The broth hasn't been affected by the inflation, but all the other ingredients seems to have taken a cut. The piece of egg plant was piddly... Having to re-evaluate the best value eats in the city, Laksa House is voted out. *** 2022 - The Hawker Laksa is now $15. Still the best value to be found. ***** 2016 - The Quintessential Laksa of Melbourne. ***** The soup is more fragrant and spicy compared to Laksa King or Chef Legenda, which comes off as more sweet, for a more timid palate. The Hawker Laksa is why you're here. *****

Today I dropped in here for a quick laksa and that’s what I got. 7 minutes from ordering to table. The large bowl was full of well blended flavours that had my eyes watering with delight. Nice amount of tofu but perhaps lacking more chicken. It’s a simple place that is somewhat fast food in that they prepare a fresh meal quickly. Staff were very friendly. Place is simple in decor but clean. $14 for a chicken laksa with noodles. If you have dietary issues, be warned that they may not be able to accommodate you. Look forward to exploring more of the large menu choices.

Another Asian restaurant along Elizabeth Street Melbourne, specialising in Malaysian dishes. I read the many reviews (positive and negative) about this place and wanted to find out for myself if there was any truth to the claims being made. I had lunch today and I gave it 4 stars as the food was good not great, the service was acceptable not fantastic and the venue was adequate not spectacular. But to be fair it is my opinion that they have delivered exactly what they set out to do. Firstly the food was presented well, at the right temperature and the taste was close the what I expected it to be. The service was adequate, the lass who took my order was pleasant and competently catered for the variation I requested. I did this just to see if indeed the staff were incompetent as the reviews suggested. I had the pork and chicken with egg noodles while my partner had the chicken rice. I found the staff to be very capable and in fact I felt sorry for one particular lady who had to walk up and close the door after every customer to ensure patrons were not blasted with the cold wind. It is the customers who were not considerate enough to close the door when they leave. The venue was plain and was designed for patrons to consume their meal and leave. It was not designed to have you lingering around after you have had your meal. The pricing was good and the serves were large. I certainly enjoyed my meal and regret the bad reviews you have been getting. I wish you all the best. I will be back and will bring my friends. Cheers!

The laksa was 💯 perfect. Really love it. I was trying the special one (if I remembered it right). Definitely will come back again to try other dishes. The total of my spending was included with 1 special Laksa and one iced soy milk (~20$).

The best laksa I've ever had, even better than some other popular places. So tasty, lots of toppings. Yum!!!

This is by far the best place in Melbourne that serves curry laksas. I keep coming back for their Crab Stick & Prawn Curry Laksa. Everything about this dish is delicious! The portion is big though, so you need to come here when you are really hungry!

Visited Laksa House in Feb-22 on a weekend trip to Melbourne. Nice little restaurant offering delicious Malaysian dishes. Definitely recommend the nasi lemak - the sambal was great!

No-fuss affordable Malaysian restaurant with amazing food and generous portion. It's been a while since I've had a such a good bowl of laksa! Give their bak kut teh and mee pok a try. However, the service could have been slightly improved.

Laksa was good, broth was very thick and creamy. The service is terrible though. I was served with the lady (I think she was the manager or the owner - not sure but attitude showed so) I added another order that was forgotten on the first iteration. She shook her head like the line was super crazy but there were no one. Please kindly serve on with respect so people will come back to the restaurant.

Nasi Lemak with Nyonya Chicken is nice and can be much better if the sambal is more spicy. Coffee tarik is good too. Will try their other signature dishes next time when I'm here again.

It's a popular laksa restaurant on the strip, food is alright. It is just my opinion that the laksa needs more coconut milk 🥛. Can get busy during peak times and the seating is tight. Pros: it's a good introduction to laksa if you haven't tried it before. There's room for improvement. Cons: tight seating and parking will have to be at vic market as on street parking is almost impossible. Cost : medium $$ Overall, it didn't really make me feel it was anything special. The food was ok in my opinion and I might try again in a couple of months.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food here. Laksa was delicious with two types of noodles, plenty of fried tofu, some chicken, two prawns, and some egg. Their hainanese chicken rice, though smaller in portion size was delicious. The teh tarek was amazing. Would go back

Ordered their signature dish, special laksa Everything was on point, the broth, the noodle, the egg, the fishcake, sadly the chicken kinda undercooked, i could smell it 🥲 Generous portion too !

Recommended by a Singaporean friend who said the laksa has good amount of chilli, curry and oil. I agree that their laksa bowl is more oily than some laksa bowls i have had in Melbourne. And because of that yes it tastes more like laksa in Kuching I tasted before. To be fair I never tried other dishes than laksa and Prawn Mee which has quite strong shrimp taste, I love it and it's not spicy to my tastebud, just right. It's pretty cheap, being one of them small asian shops on Elizabeth street so don't expect great customer service, hence not 5 star

Cheap and cheerful. I dined here a couple of times. Staff were friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long to be served. I ordered a fresh coconut and was really looking forward to scooping up the fresh coconut flesh after drinking the water, but the staff were unable to open it as they said that variety of coconut is too hard to open. Not a big deal. I enjoyed trying the Traditional Bak Kut Teh for my first time. It’s served with either noodles or rice. I asked for noodles, but only rice was available.

Very nice Malay cuisine, a fairly varied menu, their Laksa is very tasty and has the right level of spice. Service is very quick, place does get kinda busy but they have a lot of tables.

Melbourne's Malaysian Laksa House served a delightful Hainanese Chicken Rice. The dish was flavorful and authentic, capturing the essence of Malaysian cuisine. The tender and juicy chicken paired perfectly with the fragrant rice and savory sauces. The restaurant's ambiance was cozy, creating a comfortable dining experience. However, it might get crowded during peak hours, leading to longer wait times. Overall, Malaysian Laksa House is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delicious and satisfying taste of Hainanese Chicken Rice in Melbourne.

I legit believe this is they have the best bak kut teh in CBD (I stand to be corrected). The meal price on this space is reasonable and it's a quick dine in and out. Very happy with this place and the people who serve normally friendly. Don't come in during peak hour with your stroller or wheelchair as it gets very packed

I tried the Bak Ku teh and I don't like it because the soup taste was sweet for me. But, actually the service was fast and the staff were nice.

Recommend the Bak Kut Teh (pork rib soup), it's braised with traditional Chinese herbs and is perfect for warming up in the winter! The rest was average for me.

A friend recommended this resto as one of the best cheap eats in the area and boy! It didn't disappoint me n my wife. Got us a house laksa, hainan chicken with ginger n fried boneless chicken with cheese... they all were yummmmy! I don't have to go to Laksa King in Flemington for my Lassa fix now. It got a new contender. I have to go back next week to try the other laksa in the menu and the bakuteh also sounds delicious 😋.... only thing is I think they close 8pm so got to be there early to avoid the queue n disappointment

Tried many laksa places in Melbourne but this is by far the best. I had Laksa House special this time. Service was quick, price was reasonable and venue was clean when we were there (Sunday lunch time)

Good food and clean place. Drop by when we visited Victoria market and trying to find some place for very late lunch. Recommended if you like Asian food or especially Malaysian food. Or you just want to try it. You won’t be disappointed!

Like last time we were here, we got d laksa and hainanese chicken again. But got the one with chicken drumstick laksa this time. Also tried the bah kut teh soup and BBQ pork. Both were good. The broth was tasty and d meat were tender. Just the right amount of herbs, not overpowering. Very nice on a cold day. The BBQ got great flavour but a bit lean to my liking. I prefer a bit more fat and thicker sauce. Overall another happy tummy full of nice traditional Malaysian food. Will be back again soon... few more laksa variations to try😊

I ordered curry laksa without sprouts but it ended up with sprouts. The restaurant customer service totally sucks as we told them about this and they said their kitchen did make one without sprouts but they probably send to the wrong table and there were no apologies at all! Rude service! Will not come back again!
