Came here for their steak night on Tuesday! Not bad for $24 .. very filling . Place is really cute and they were quite busy. Lucky we have a table straight away.

I love this pub. We met up with some friends for the Sunday roast (beef cheek👌🏻)and paired it with the recommended glass of red. The dining room was warm, toasty and full of energy, and the food was perfect.

Came to Marquis of Lorne for Sunday drinks with some friends. This pub has a good vibe and the inside and rooftop areas are both a dream. The staff were really chill and friendly, and I really liked the chilled red I had :))

Don't let the old school appearance of this pub fool you.. this isn't an average joint! High quality pub food served in their quaint dining room and a couple of levels of drinking space including a rooftop for sunny days.. Update October 2023.. They've still got it! Had a steak on today which was cooked to perfection.. 😋

Spread over 3 levels - the casual pub, dining room on the first floor and rooftop, it caters for all different events whether you’re looking for a quick pint or a sit down meal. The pub is charming and pretty relaxed vibe with good food if you’re feeling hungry.

Lovely, cosy pub. We went on a Sunday evening and sat upstairs at the bar overlooking the kitchen. It was quite entertaining watching the kitchen team work together and cook. They understood my dietary requirements as a coeliac, the service was friendly and the food was yummy, just a little bit slow. We had to wait a while but it was super busy that night so understandable. Will be back.

Best pub in Melbourne, foods definitely lost a little post COVID but it's still an absolute banger for a beer, wine, meal or weekend fun

DO: The potato cakes DON’T: Want to sit with the plebs. The private dining room is an option. TIP: Check the specials board before ordering

Great food. Nice to revisit an old haunt after so many years. The charm in Fitzroy has not changed but the menu has

Beautifully preserved venue reminiscent of a working class suburb whose inhabitants would frequent bars in reprieve of family and working life. The food, drink and characters at the Marquis have changed over time but original charm remains. My partner, infant son and I shared a beautiful Father's/Parents Day dinner which included a delectable Sunday roast and duck breast. The roast was flawless and much more exciting than I expected while the duck's skin - although perfectly acceptable - could be rendered a little more. The service was fast and anticipated our needs. They don't accommodate for baby chairs but at least seemed indifferent to our bub sitting on our laps and joining in on the dining fun. Memorable!

Really great pub offering a strong selection of food and drink options. Came with a large group for lunch and the service was fantastic the whole way through. Everyone enjoyed their meals and are all looking forward to coming back. The lunch time deals on a Friday were also really good. Strongly recommend

Lovely old pub, snapshot of 1940s heritage bar - stomping ground and other locals on tap, tinnies in the fridge half price 4-6

I moved to Oz six months ago and hands down, the best food I’ve had has been at Marquis of Lorne. Admittedly, due to accents, I thought it was the Marque of Lawn 🤣🤣. My partner always gets whatever steak is on the menu. I have a bite and it is on point. I personally favor vegan or vegan mains & I have been more impressed each time. Tonight’s mushrooms with macadamia pesto & polenta (not pictured) were DELICIOUS. They have an impressive selection of wines, but of course have beer and cocktails. Paul, Kinga, Jupiter & William are all on hand to keep the food & drinks rolling. It’s well worth walking a few blocks from the main drag/tram line to indulge at Marquis of Lorne 🥂❤️

Fantastic food, quick extremely friendly staff, accommodating for all needs. We've had a 6 year old with us who's a fussy eater. 7 of us ordered 7 different food. All was amazing. I've ordered the duck. Couldn't make it better myself at home. Extremely tasteful, falling off the bone. Five star for the chef and the staff.

Went to the rooftop for a birthday party. Perfect location for events. The bottom section was quite busy. Slight shame that the rooftop isn't a smoking area and you have to go down two sets of stairs for a smoke. Had the oysters and they were so fresh and delicious I'll definitely be back.

Had a lovely Saturday lunch in the dining room.Food is upmarket offerings for a pub but everything we had was great and presented well. Baby barramundi had a deliciously crispy skin and full of flavor despite opting out of bacon. Partners steak was cooked to perfection and enjoyed immensely. Service was great and friendly. Wines we had were very good. Would like to come back for casual drinks and snacks on the rooftop next time. My tip: Do yourself a favour and get a serve of the potato cakes..you won’t regret it!!

Great wine list, some obscure options that were delicious. Good food too - the Rockling burger was lovely. And good service… But… so, so loud. Nothing has been done with sound-deadening, the music is loud so everyone yells over it. I couldn’t hear the people at our table over the bar staff yelling. Just a pub to go to, unless you want to speak to anyone. Sorry, because other than the cacophony, it is really good.

I visited the Marquis of Lorne recently with a group of friends for a meal and a catch up. We booked the downstairs private room. The staff were very friendly and attentive and handled our somewhat rowdy group with ease which added to the evening being a memorable one. Drinks kept coming and the meals arrived in good time. That was my first visit to the M of L and I recommend it as a traditional friendly local pub.

We hadn’t been to an inner Melbourne pub for many years & were really impressed by Marquis of Lorne. It has a lovely relaxed feel, with super friendly staff and delicious food at a very reasonable price. The coconut cake is the best dessert I’ve ever had (& I’ve had a lot of desserts)! We’re already planning our next visit.

Great atmosphere. Food was outstanding. Drinks took a little too long to arrive at times. Would recommend.

Great food tucked away in Fitzroy. Multiple levels, great ambience and vibe, food is excellent. It's great quality for the price you pay, variety of beer and wine is vast. Pub style feel with a lovely menu.

As a group of 8 we all ordered something different. I personally ordered the pork cutlet! Immaculate! I got the chance to try the duck and steak also. Both were unbelievable. I’d highly recommend the duck. This is not your standard bar food, the quality exceeds far beyond.

We loved this venue so much before we even ordered we booked in another event. It reminds me so much of a London pub. The staff are really lovely. The fireplace smoked a bit... need to get it cleaned out me thinks 🤔... what an awesome venue. Highly recommend it and the food was glorious!! What a hidden little gem.

Wonderful pub, originally a Australian-Victorian era building now banged into modernity, excellent. Haven’t eaten here, but definitely atmospheric, upstairs, downstairs, o/S on pavement. Great restrooms, too. Recommend. XS

The service was poor. Manager was grumpy. Not nice place for relaxing lunch. Very poor vegetarian options with no capacity for variation to accomodate.

Great food and booze - but needs to take legal responsibility to ensure all patrons check in via QR code more seriously. No QRs on menus or tables, no one asks before serving you that you’ve checked in

came here for dinner and catching up with a friend after recommended by a friend, dining area upstairs is super small, tables are pretty much cramped next to each other, cute interior but the large mirror bounces the chatter noises and makes the whole place super loud and noisy. food was good but hard to talk with my friend when we're there to catch up. had the king prawns, potato cakes and sirloin for 2 to share and they're good portions.

Had a staff party venue food and staff all was awesome. But told to leave early. Disappointing since the amount we spent to hire plus still ordering drinks food etc poor customer service to function customer will not be returning to dine or recommend. Plus being from hospitality industry not good.

Busy and bustling and terrific service. Just happened to arrive during their happy hour half price cans. EXCELLENT! Didn't eat this visit but have in the past and it was fab!

Loved the feel of the downstairs pub before heading upstairs for a sit down dinner. Delicious options and just a great atmosphere in general. Would definitely go back.

Love the atmosphere and vibe of the Marquis of Lorne, 2nd time i've come back and never disappoints. Great hearty meals, and good beer selection all for a reasonable price. 3 levels so it always has something to offer for any group.
