We are locals and Holy Grail regulars and usually love the place, but our experience tonight was abysmal. Male bartender with long blonde hair and glasses was rude and unprofessional and untimely - asked for cocktails and told us they weren’t serving them anymore however served others cocktails soon after. Was smug and unprofessional, overheard them making rude comments and jokes afterwards behind the bar about me and my friends. Was sober (had one drink for the whole night), seems like the only reason for being refused service is that he couldn’t be bothered making a cocktail at the time.

Best bar on chapel street by far. The staff are faultless and the cocktails are superb! Had the best time here on Australia Day and I’ll definitely be back every chance I get. I’ve waited 6 months to come here because the timing was always off but it was worth the wait. Only negative is that the cleaner was super rude but I guess we all have our off days

The guy at the door was really nice. However, the female bar tender was very rude. The one working on Saturday around 7pm with goth style. For context, I hadn't even had one drink yet.

Love the big comfortable booth seating and that to get a drink, you turn on the light. Great selection of cocktails and enjoyed the pasta and pizza.

This review would offer a mixture of stars. Initial Grab as you walk past is absolute. The entry Five Stars. Meandering through on a Monday night was spell bounding, Inside to the rear the central wet bar continues. Lined by booths one side of the bar, seating with window framed openings is like you have your own bar in your private booth. Seated bar locations the other, mixing the remainder of the venue with stylish chairs.Somewhat like a lounged cigar bar, without the cigars. Lined with Melbourne redbrick walls, additional creativity from hardwoods timbers, irons, glass, leathers, velvets result in shimmers of sexyness. I had knocked off on star, only because I was thirsty this Monday night, and anxiety kicked in when only one bar attendant, (Talented, none the less) was overcome with shots orders and multiple mixed and built drinks. So excited finding The Holy Grail, I began Pushing the venue's website and location to some friends. Unsure about the sound on both sides of the venue, however the speakers and driving gear may need a review. Sound levels lifting from one song to another might be the fingers of the DJ, Barman. Seeing the wall mounted two ways installed differently, makes me think there's an issue with equal frequency spreading into the bodies of patrons. Good Job getting my attention, none the less. I did stay for close to 4hours, and would do the same again. Cheers to the Holy Grail.!

Only stopped in for a beer but quick service and delicious beer. Nice fire place inside although I sat outside. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Have a peek for yourself and enjoy a cold one. Make sure to hit up the happ hour for cheaper beer

The bar manager was particularly rude to us when we wanted to split the bill firstly, made a big deal out of it even though it was over $100, would of given a tip if he was polite about it. Very bad experience, just because it is open until 1am, doesn’t mean you have to go there. Avoid at all cost, not hospo friendly or people friendly unless maybe you know them.

Cool little bar with comfy couches, intimate booths and cool bar folk. Happy hour is a treat and right across from a bunch of good restaurants makes it easy to park once and have a full night out. Recommend.

This was my first visit to this particular Holy grail establishment and I must say I expect to become a frequent flyer. Immaculate provision of service towards customers provided by Lilly. The menu was both expansive and captivating. Lilly knew precisely how to tailor to our specific needs with great attention to detail. The dining area was splendidly presented with ample indoor and outdoor seating options. I must say, as the drink connoisseur that I am, I was blown away by how Holy grail Chapel street has by far surpassed any expectation I had set. Again, many thanks and congratulations to Lilly for her graceful and virtuosic hospitality and a well deserved 5 stars.

Very cool bar to hang out at. I've never been there before and it looked cool from the outside so a friend and I decided to pop in for a drink. Great vibe, interesting decor made up of reclaimed timber and decorative screens. We had the choc passionfruit Martini which was really impressive. Great work guys

Loving this bar especially with the private cozy booth seating & interior, have to mention their wholesome array of house cocktails and everything we tried were just amazing! (Especially the Yuzu and plum cocktails!!! 🤩🤩🤩)

Holy Grail is the perfect spot for first dates or low-key catchups with its plush couches and moody lighting. It's best to snag a booth if you can. Their mulled wine is the perfect way to warm up on a cold winter night.

Great cosy vibes love the unique ship theme! The best thing is how delicious and drinkable the cocktails are. They also have a great happy hour to check out. Love the dessert styles and fruity cocktails. They don’t do proper food though!

Always good service here. Friendly welcoming staff. The atmosphere is good. You have the bar in the middle, so plenty of room around to find your own spot, or you can hang with everyone at the front and have a dance. There is a good amount of table space.

Highly recommend holy grail! Went over the weekend and tried some of the new cocktails they are offering!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The staff are super friendly and helpful! The melon margarita was my fav 🍸Definitely will be coming back!

I like this venue interiors and cocktails quality and Hospitality. I used to lived Chapel St, I've always introduce to my friends as fancy Bar in this area But, At the Last Night A Bartender guy rejected to make a non-alchoal cocktail to me around 11pm. This happen was the first time experience in my life. I was dissapointed to this venue and Hope he will be good Bartender

Called in for a post dinner drink. The service was really good, and I ordered a margarita which was great. The margarita was delicious, and I scored a seat on a stool at the front which was great for people watching lol There is a lot of seating inside and the bar looks like a an old American western style bar. Overall it was a nice place.

My mother and I entered Holy Grail with my three year old daughter as we were looking to order a glass of wine while we waited for a nearby restaurant to open at 5:30pm for dinner. As my mother and daughter sat down at a table I went to the bar to order a glass of wine for myself and my mother. At this point the bar tender approached my mother to advise she would have to leave the premises. Dumbfounded we asked the bar tender why on earth we were being asked to leave the premises with his excuse being “they didn’t cater for children”. Clearly we are aware that a bar does not cater for children and I explained that my mother and I were just looking to have a glass of wine while we waited for a restaurant to open. The bar tender asked us to leave again so we did so in total shock: This behaviour is a total breach of Australia’s Anti-Discrimination Laws and illegal. Not to mention men were smoking cigarettes at the bar, which is also totally illegal. It appears this venue has no regard for the law and makes their own rules up. I will be making a complaint against this venue to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission for discrimination.

Had to come back and edit my review. This place was nice with friendly staff but now the bartenders are rude (redhead and dude with beard) and the atmosphere is gone. Smells like smoke and the drinks are watered down.

Crowdy but not friendly. The barman made us pay beers at a higher price than what was written on the menu saying then "it is an old menu, it's just a few dollars more" ... Design is nice but that 's all.

This place used to be my go to bar for drinks but last time when I visited both of the bartenders were very rude. I didn't do anything to upset them. They were acting like I am getting the drinks for free and an inconvenience to them. Both of the time they put the drink on the other corner like as they are for somebody else, I literally had to get up to get the drinks to my friends.

If winter is coming, get TF to Holy Grail because this place knows a heap more than John Snow. Built by, I'm assuming, the Stark household, this place is much game of thrones. Not ideal for summer as it's pretty dark, but something something the wall something. You get the picture. It's dope.

Nice enough place. Went there last night and used the QR code to register on their website for Covid Tracing purposes. Noticed that subscribing to the Holy Grails notifications about news and offers was a mandatory requirement to finish the covid tracing. I don't mind doing the covid tracing but don't use it as a way to force people to sign up to your mailing list.

Calypso is the greatest bartender of all time. She is unreal and all you could ask for when it comes to table service.

This is easily one of my favorit bars on chapel Street. Good vibes, great staff, the cocktails are to die for. Go! and if you don't go ill find you and breath strawberry cheesecake cocktail breath on you until you realise im not going to stop until you go... lovely place, would recommend

What a little gem of a find... It’s dark, it’s cosy with comfy couches, bloody good cocktails- white chocolate passion fruit was my favourite, staff are fab. Feels like a great winter bar - we’ll be back

I went to this bar on Thursday, they asked to take my card for the tab. On Sunday two transactions came through that I didn't make, on websites I've never even visited. The card had never been out of my sight except for an hour at this pub. And I still have the card so it wasn't lost. I'm pretty upset to think that one of the bar tenders has stolen my card details. And it is lucky this was just a debit card. Really disappointed, would not recommend dining or drinking here in case you are next

Been here for a quick after dinner cocktail. Enchanting place and very confident bartenders (there are those who can like it and those who don't). Area by the fireplace perfect for a meditative whiskey.

One of the best places on Chapel for a chill drink, no matter how busy the rest of the street is. Great selection of beers and wines, and all the cocktails are great. Definitely recommend Holy Grail for a first date or a tenth.

Great cocktails, cute bar, really great bar staff. No a huge fan of the smoking room. Doesn’t really seem right smoking inside. Sat further in though where there was no smoking which was great. Had a cute little booth, which had a light you switch on when you want service. Love it. We actually left, had dinner and went back. The rounds weren’t cheap but the cocktails were great.

Great vibe, nice staff and yummy drinks. You can smoke inside so if you like that cool, if you don't you might struggle. The cocktails are like $22-26 each as well which I feel is pretty expensive. Baileys on ice was $18

One of the best bars I've ever been to or worked at, room to sit, smoke, drink, stand, lounge or booth service even as standard. Music's always good, staff are all legends plus the whole place is modelled like a pirate ship. Also chartreuse.

Rude Male Bartender with a man bun, had passive aggressive tone. Clearly didn’t want to be there, couldn’t be bothered to make drinks or suggest anything similar when he couldn’t make the cocktail as he ran out of Malibu!? He was condescending & awful to deal with!

The live Band Was amazing, the girl (golden heart) at Bar, really knows her job. Perfect in preparation and very quick. Always have welcoming smile 😊 makes her stand out of the crowd. The Ambiance of the bar is really cool from inside and a perfect place to hang out in a cozy place. Also the people everyone was 😎 cool. It made my night.

love this venue, the security are always so nice here compared to other bars. The drinks are at an average price but the drinks range is 10/10 (love that they have the full range of redbull flavours). the inside of the venue is designed to look like a ship and makes it a unique and fun place to visit on your night out

Place is nice and warm and old school. Has a Goth vibe and an open fireplace. Didn't like the quality of tequila served. Smoking permissions inside.

Juan was so wonderful. He made us feel so supported. He cleaned up every table the second we needed and always made sure we all felt welcome. Would only come back here if I knew he was working
