A really good and interesting place for attractions near yarra valley. I didn’t expect it was a true train at the very beginning. The whole experience was authentic and money worthy. Except they don’t have any AC in the train🤣🤣🤣. The whole trip took around 35 mins, you will pass a tunnel and an old bridge. While the views along the track was Aussie and beautiful.

We went to Yarra valley railway on Easter Sunday morning. Luckily we bought ticket online, because The train was full seats. We met special visiter on that day was Easter bunny. Kids loved receiving Easter chocolate from a bunny. A volunteer driver was sat on the driving box. He was explain about the information of our short trip & train. I wished he used microphone so all passenger can hear it. But I enjoyed the whole experience. Thank you for your dedication to all volunteers.

Beautifully restored engine taking you through Healesville. Journey is less than 1 hour, with lovely views. Children enjoyed it. Ran by local volunteers. Recommend for an activity on a cold day. Check timetable to see when running.

Nice little heritage railway motor from Victoria's past. Engine built in 1948, but seats are comfy. No high speed railway, it motor's along pretty slowly. Staff interact well with kids & allow them in the cab to see the engine room. Tickets are $36 for 2 adults.

Halloween train was well done with train decorated and some characters onboard making it a memorable experience.

Lovely antique railway run by volunteers. They are so friendly. The railway itself is in small scale (nothing comparable to the famous Puffing Billy) but for railway fans, it definitely worth a visit.

Great relaxing train ride in an authentic heritage rail car, station (Healesville), and period dressed railway staff.

What great old trains. There is something about old stuff that makes me squishy inside. The volunteers are passionate about the old rail stock, and its good to hear what they are achieving in restoring these moments of history. I would give feedback that they should do an old style cafe with simple cakes and scones and coffee, plus selling copies of the old posters that are in the toilets and maps and other paraphernalia around the station

After a few years of thinking on giving a go we finally made the trip on the train, nice ride and had Steve from Yarra Valley Railway explaining along the way, that made it even greater!!

Good experience going on a heritage railmotor along a restored track. Look forwarded to seeing the line extended to Yarra Glen. Well done to the volunteers who operate this line.

Was closed but we could still get up close with the rolling stock. It's a shame that the railway was decommissioned in the first place and terrible that Lycra wearing pillocks have requisitioned the rail reserve from Lilydale to halfway to Yarra Glen as a bike track.

As a return visitor, I was delighted to return. This is a great little heritage tourist railway. The volunteer staff are great ambassadors for the railway. The journey is mostly through the countryside, and there are pleasant views to take in. This is a very family friendly operation and children seem to really enjoy the train ride. Parents seem to enjoy the kids absorbed with the train. The Yarra Valley Railway is a bit over an hour from Central Melbourne and a fairly easy drive. From a heritage perspective, this is a fine example of a Victorian Railways country branch line. I would be delighted to return at any time. I highly recommend a visit.

Lovely old heritage train ride. Forward and back, takes about 30 minutes. Keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos!

Volunteers here do an amazing job and the little kids loved the ride. It will be amazing when the rail goes thru to Yarra Glen in a few years.

An interesting historical railway showing the way the rail system was in a country town. Completed the visit with a short trip on their restored Walker Railmotor.
