    This is a good supermarket with a good selection of Italian ingredients and products (except the Victoria biscuits which are available at Coles only) and fresh vegetables. I particularly like the fresh meat and seafood counters. Staff are very helpful and smiling. If you have a trolley it’s not uncommon to have to wait some minutes in line at the checkout as staff is limited. The car park has a 1.5 hour free parking policy and it’s ticket free, which makes for for a smooth entry and exit. My partner who is from SE Asia says that the selection of Asian groceries is also much better than the average Woolworths.

    A magical place to shop. It’s magic because when you are there you just become invisible!! The staff can’t see you, they just keep talking with their friends because they can’t see you. Shopping while invisible sounds fun, but it’s not. 👎

    I searched internet South melbourne has still in stock so I came here and I asked their staff for still have stock. he said I'm store manager so I don't need to check but he didn't understand what's I wanted to it.He just said 100%none here. Are you angry? I'm very uncomfortable his service.Never come again.

    Worst Carpark - pay machine was broken and they wouldn’t let anyone out. People got held up and they asked everyone to bank transfer there and screenshot it email to their corporate team before letting anyone out?! How’s this allowed when it’s clearly the administrators fault for not maintaining the machine properly?

    Being a regular customer for many years, I know what they are selling and not selling. When I asked staff if they have beef bone in the stock. They rolled eye at me and said "We never sell them here". Just shown how lazy they are.

    Not the most organised Woolworths. Very often there are no baskets in a logical place by the entrance. Last time I had to walk all the way around to the end of the self check out to find one. I pointed it out to the worker - "the baskets are in the wrong spot...there's none by the entrance".. And she replied, "oh really?" 15 mins later when I left and walked past the entrance again the baskets were still not replaced. Any decent worker who actually gives a stuff would have spent the 60 seconds to sort it out but it seems they prefer to inconvenience their customers. My wife saw a mouse in there a few months ago and the staff didn't seem to care either.

    Honestly, not much to recommend from this store outside of location. Produce is poor, primarily the fruit which is often bruised and clearly has been frozen. The deli counter closes early, and you are lucky to find a hot chicken after 7pm. The checkouts are infuriating if doing a large shop late at night with only the express lanes open. The self checkouts are filthy and rarely cleaned by staff (besides the screen). Since the renovation, the Coles up the road is a much better option

    Classic the fresh food people fare A very clean well thought out store with an excellent bakery,delli and butchers/seafood shop and an excellent and extensive international food aisle with the usual Asian, Indian and Mexican but also carries a large range of Italian and greek foods which reflects a true understanding of their location and customer base staff are friendly and want to be there unlike the coles up the road the difference between the two stores is like comparing night and day

    Not one of their better stores. Not a single trolley available yet again. One guy alone to serve the whole of the deli and seafood counter. It's faster and easier to walk across the road and shop at ALDI.

    I think now Woolworths has to have the best customer service out of the two Giants Coles and Woolworths at least you can get a checkout quickly and not have to work for the company for free the check yourself out which also takes jobs away from people it's expensive as his Coles and I think they could look at reducing their profits and reducing their prices that would help inflation of course pigs would fly before any of that happened

    Great location as it's very near my house. The customer service has increased a lot, especially in Deli. They always seem friendly and approachable. However, I noticed there are several things that could be improved. • Long wait, either in checkout or deli, due to limited staff I believe • Cages blocking pathway, and being left unattended • Presentation in deli, such as dry meat, marina mix looks unattractive (other Woolworths have salmon pieces in it), and often empty stocks

    Very well located from across the South Melbourne market and has Aus Post across the riad, and Spotlight and a pharmacy within the premises, with plenty of covered and off street parking. Well stocked, can almost shop for everything here and around here.

    This Woolworths used to have really helpful and friendly staff before Covid now not so much. I needed to return a couple of items here on the weekend. It was a huge debacle, I had the receipt and so I thought it would be a smooth and speedy process. I was so wrong. Firstly, there’s the question of where do you even go to rerun something? So the customer service counter or smokes counter has a sign on it saying “ This counter is closed let us serve you at another counter” or something to that affect. I have no idea why the sign is there as people were still being served at the counter anyway. So I waited there for about eight minutes as the checkout assistant was serving people in the express shopping que I watched him serving new customers that were coming to that que with their shopping items and he never even acknowledged I was standing there and just continued to serve the express que. So I’m guessing the sign is there as a deterrent to stand and wait at the customer service desk so the staff have an excuse to simply ignore the customers waiting there. However they still serve people who are willing to wait long periods of time there most likely because they recognise it’s important counter to have at a shop a customer service counter. It’s very necessary for me as there was no where else to return anything. After getting tired of being completely ignored I decided to yell out for assistance from this check out assistance and he came over to help me with a very annoyed look on his face. I asked him if this is the counter to return things and he said he could help me so I was relieved. Unfortunately there’s more to the drama he then says he was unable to return the nappies my husband had bought in the wrong size and refused to refund me for the roast beef my husband had asked me to return as it smelt and tasted off one day after he’d bought it. I asked to speak to the manager so a man named Danny served me he repeated the same thing and pushed the items back at me in an aggressive way and said “Thankyou!” In other words get the bleep out of here! He made me feel like a criminal. I contacted their complaints department and I was listened to and felt like they handled my complaint very well. A couple of days later I got a call back from the group manager the manager above Danny telling me she was very sorry for my experience and she would like to offer me a $30 voucher. She said die to privacy she was unable to provide me with an outcome of how the complaint was dealt with just that it was and she was sorry for my experience and no one should have to go through that. I don’t want their $30 voucher it’s not compensation for the way they treated me I just won’t ever be going back in this particular Woolworths again.

    Very disappointing- not the fresh food people at all. I’ve been caught out multiple times now buying items that are already past their use by dates, or due to expire the next day. I only recently started shopping at this branch, as it’s close to a work site, but I won’t be going back. Never have these issues at the Malvern branch. I was at the South Melbourne store last weekend and there was a trolley next to a meat fridge. The trolley was stacked with meat products, and no staff member nearby. Walked passed a few times within approximately 10 minutes. No sign of anyone. Who knows how long the meat sat out, un-refrigerated. Deli and checkout staff were lovely though. Clearly understaffed as they can’t keep on top of use by dates
