Lovely pub, great atmosphere and food was very nice. Salmon main in particular was both unusual and tasty, with beetroot purees and gin and watercress emulsion. Pricey but great portion sizes. Staff were also super friendly and professional.

Booked a table for early evening meal before going on to the airport after reading reviews. We were not disappointed. We ordered a pizza, the special which was sea bass and the lamb. All very tasty and the shame was we couldn’t relax and stay for a couple of drinks. The staff were lovely and helpful and we met Max the owner who was very welcoming. A new found gem so thank you and I will definitely return to enjoy some Friday night live music.

Wow what can I say? I booked a table for 9 of us on a hen party and we simply had the best evening we could have asked for! We were given our own room upstairs, which they decorated for us with a separate bar we could use. The food was delicious and generous portions. The cherry on the cake was our server Dylan, he was happy, helpful, charismatic, entertaining and knew how to keep a group of hens happy - drinks, drinks, drinks! Meanwhile a party was happening downstairs so the atmosphere in the whole place was electric. We couldn’t have had a better night, highly recommend!

What a fantastic place! Fourth visit here, working locally. Just had an amazing Sunday roast, beef seasoned & done perfectly (would of liked a larger portion but realise cost of quality) side vegetables cooked just the way I like, homemade cauliflower cheese lush. And previous visit great pizzas, everyone in our group loved. An d music & beers on a Friday! Fantastic place… only problem don’t actually have rooms to stay at 👍👍👍

What a great find. We felt so at home at The Castle Inn. Great service, great atmosphere and delicious food. On arrival the team told us there was a wait for food which was great for managing our expectations. We stayed and the atmosphere was so good it didn't seem too long a wait. Food was delicious. The pizza was cooked in a special pizza oven and the portions were generous. The manager and hosts came up for general chit chat which made us feel even more welcome. They had a live bad which was great. Thanks so much. We will definitely be back again.

Grab yourself one of their pizzas, they are spot on. There is also a large choice of drinks to wash it down with. Note that between 2pm and 5pm, they only serve pizzas. The lunch time menu and evening menu are excellent, this is reflected in the restaurant and seating areas being booked up rapidly, especially at the weekend. If you fancy it, they have an excellent music venue, which on Friday nights books local bands, which is free, but then Saturday nights feature touring cover bands, these gigs require a ticket which vary in price. Last time I was there, they had a top Elton John Tribute Act.

We had a private meal upstairs in The Rose Room for an 80th Birthday. Staff were so helpful on arrival with the cake, upstairs was all ready for us to add our decorations to. The food was beautiful, presented so nicely. We had a lovely evening and would go back again.

We eat here fairly often, great atmosphere as always but food not as good as usual this time. Chicken burger was dry and over cooked and bread had gone soggy with too much chutney. Beef pizza and sweet potato fries were good. Need better quality olives for the 'Bread and olives' dish. Cocktails were slow to arrive but very nice when they did!

Food was good for vegetarians, not a huge choice for vegans but definitely healthy and a lot of care had gone into the menu to make the veggie/vegan options exciting, the bruschetta was very small but totally delicious, nice goats cheese, pine nut and sweet potato salad but the dessert was the best part, I might order just desserts next time, eton mess charred peach and blueberry

Exceptional service from start to finish. Stopped for a bite to eat before a flight and wow I have to say it was some of the best tapas I have eaten in the UK. The staff were helpful, friendly and so polite which is always an added bonus. Would recommend to anyone and we will certainly go out of our way to visit again.

Fantastic pub, great food and pleasant atmosphere. Plus the live bands I've seen there have all been belters. Please go, you'll love it.

Never knew there was an upstairs but lovely room. Had a fab night celebrating 2 birthdays. Great customer service and food. The band was amazing. Only marked down 1 star for food as we had preordered a week in advance, but they didn't have what we ordered and also had to wait a little while for drinks at the start. Other than this, was a fab night and definitely be back.

Wanted a nice Sunday roast and yep I definitely got 1 of the best lunches I've ever had! And all the staff was excellent and very helpful. Would recommend The Castle Inn 10 out off 10 times . And a nice pint of Vixen real ale . Perfect!

Good service and nice food. Shame we were in corner by the loo when the bar area had dogs in there, but it was adequate. The staff were polite and the lady looking after us was very courteous and really looked after the pups. I’d recommend, and 10 out of 10 for the young person who looked after us.

The Castle Inn it's the most popular place in town. On Friday evening there's music and it's a nice place to hang out, even tough they close very early. Food it's good but nothing special. Price are average for the UK. Service it's great. Overall I recommend

Such a brilliant place, always have a great time when we visit. The staff are lovely and go out of their way to make sure you have the best time. It’s also a fantastic venue to hold special occasions, I’ve had my hen do and a birthday celebration here and were amazing. Both times the team of staff clearly went out of their way to get everything right. The foods delicious as well as the the amazing range of drinks. On this occasion we attended the New Year Party which was done so well. The land lord and lady do an amazing job and it really shows.

Fabulous food, staff and atmosphere. We had the calzone pizzas and it is not our first time. Tasted out of this world good, great portions sizes and menu options. Went on to watch free live music, brilliant. We’ll be back as this is our favourite local.

Went for lunch with colleagues. The pub has a lovely interior and we got a great table by the window. Service was quick and friendly. The food was all delicious, most of us had pizzas which were huge and obviously freshly cooked in the pizza oven. We'll definitely be back!

We recently had a short term stay in Castle Donington and this pub was a short walk away. What a place ! the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was always good whatever time of day and the entertainment was great fun. Highly recommend.

Can only give it a 5 star unfortunately! Not sure if it was the service (superb) or the Sunday lunch (delicious) that came out on top. I had the chicken and my wife had the beef and it was fabulous. I don't normally post reviews but felt I had to make an exception here. Great venue, great service, great meal.

My friends and I came to The castle Inn for Sunday lunch this week. It was one of the best meals I have had. The beef was so succulent and tasty and the accompanying vegetable were delicious. My friends who eat out quite often also said it was one of the best roast dinners they have had. I will definitely be returning. Thank you

Great food, great staff. We took a chance, not knowing the place or the area, and struck lucky. We booked online and walked up. The place was very busy for good reason. Both starters and main courses were beautifully prepared and presented. Whilst busy, the tables were not on top of each other. The service was fantastic and highly efficient

We had a relaxed afternoon wedding reception in the garden room before a larger evening party. Absolutely fantastic day and great service. All the staff are so kind. All our guests had a great time. Pizzas went down a treat. Made our day to have a nice setting to share some quality time with our guests. Highly recommended.

Firstly I'll say that my wife's shortcrust beetroot and feta tart and salad main were lovely. As were the chunky chips for my Fish and Chips special of the day. All staff and service also attentive and knowledgeable. However, my fish was mainly batter (wish I'd taken a before pic now!) and again mistakes can happen I just felt that knocking a £4 pint off the bill in recompense for a £17 less than child's portion simply wasn't enough redress. Didn't kick up too much fuss and didn't want to get a manager involved. TLDR: If I returned I'd stick with a wood-fired pizza to accompany Friday live music.
