We arrived to no welcome being totally ignored yes the lady was busy but it takes nothing to acknowledge we were there !! One of our party had to go fetch someone after waiting 10 minutes!! After seating bearing in mind the booking was booked in October as was the other table from us , looked at the menu went to the bar only one member of staff serving!! Waited another 20 minutes listening to others being told sorry no not got that nor that you can have burgers but no buns no fish no that !! Why bother texting yesterday to see if we was attending knowing full well you had no food !! Absolutely appalling no sorry rude staff !! We walked out had an amazing meal at Eaton Farm very polite and fast service !! Won’t recommend Dog & Duck again which is a pity as before was good !!

We've been here for over 2 hours and we're still waiting for our food. The restuarant is absolutely dead and we feel completely ignored and neglected. The service is really poor and the staff don't seem to care which is a real shame. We won't be returning. A real let down.

I have arrived to the restaurant in the mid week early afternoon with a group of friends, totalling 9ppl. Our table has been booked some time ahead of the date so the staff knew that we are coming. During ordering the food we have been informed that we might need to wait few minutes longer for our food. We have ordered and paid. After over 1.5h waiting for the food, without any update from the staff, one of our friends went to ask what is going on. The food arrived 10min later. Unfortunately, two of our dishes have not been what has been initially ordered which has been corrected really quick. The food has been nothing special, still, except company at the table, this has been the best point of the outing. The restaurant has been almost empty, during our stay there has been only 2 more tables, both smaller than our. There has been no music and the staff did not make any effort to make our wait more bearable. All in all, I do not recommend this place and do not plan return in the future.

We booked this here for a family meal. The food was lovely and came quickly. The staff were all lovely. Our server was Shannon, she was lovely, she always had a smile on her face and was extremely polite. I would definitely return to this pub.

Excellent experience from start to finish, reserved table perfectly placed for all attending the party. Food first class and the staff prepared the birthday cake and even joined in the singing, making this an occasion for the birthday girl to remember.

I eat at the Dog and Duck several times a week, often with friends and business associates. The pricing is very reasonable for great quality food which is always hot and delicious, and any special requests or dietary requirements are always catered for. The staff are welcoming, polite, helpful and prompt. The food arrives quickly. 10/10. Highly recommended.

Ordered steak, medium rare, cooked to perfection. Was not rushed between courses, which I find enjoyable, as its nice to have a conversation with the people you're dining with as there's nothing worse than the feeling of being hurried to eat your food. Definitely worth 5 stars

Many items not available from your menu, which seemed very strange on Valentines day, a day people plan to eat out. The quality of the food that was delivered was fine for the price, but could do with better presentation. Staff were very friendly and apologetic over the numerous items not available.

Popped in for a pub lunch (has the large scampi and chips, peas and a lemon slice…cooked by ‘Rob’, I’m told) and can’t really fault it. It also came super quick. I tend to drop in here once a week. The staff are great. Very attentive, efficient and friendly. The ever-lovely Shannon served me at the bar and later served to the table via the App. Decent chain pub, recommended.

Lovely clean pub, staff greeted us warmly and served our drinks. We had some sides as a little snack and they came quickly and were piping hot and delicious. We shall definitely return thank you, really lovely staff here.

4 of us came in on Easter Saturday for dinner burgers were excellent and good value for money. Along with the marstons pedigree. My daughter loved her pasta

Visited many times with family members and always have a very pleasent experience. The last visit was excellent with very efficient and friendly service from Abbie, Julie and Liz. (and great meal provided by chef Ant.) Many thanks to all involved, i'll no doubt continue to visit. Much appreciated!

We have visited this venue many times now on different days of the week and can say the service, staff, food quality and taste never missed a beat, from booking a table online to the reminders of our booking. Price was also spot on. As it was Thursday they had 8oz Steak and Drink for just under £12. Good portions and we did not have to wait that long, despite staff shortages. I would like to mention Rob the chef who prepared the food in a timely manner, along with Shannon and Abbie, who both were very polite, professional and ready to help, which made our visit memorable, can not wait to return. Thanks team, keep up the great work.

Bought my son here for food and a catchup. A very polite lady took our order and we got our drinks and sat at our table. We waited about 40 mins for our food, even though it wasn’t busy. When the food arrived my chips were cold, but I was starving, the tuna melt baguette was nice though. Now as for my sons? He ordered lunchtime hunter’s chicken. When it came it’s a good job he ordered a side of mushrooms as the chicken was non existent. It does state it’s a half portion of chicken, but the actual chicken breast must have been a little one as he only got 2-3 mouthfuls, in fact, he had to save the chicken till last. His chips were cold too and even though we laughed I gave him half of mine. We we’re going to go to the new inn which I have taken him before where the lite bites aren’t so lite. Wish I had stuck with my first choice. Not the first disappointing meal from here but will definitely be the last

We should have read the other recent reviews before coming here. They are under-staffed and should not be taking food orders without letting customers know how backed up they are. When I asked about our order, I was told "you've only just had your starters" which I thought was quite rude considering that we had already waited 90 minutes for them. Not recommended.

Excellent service. Food was excellent, well presented and tasty. Staff very friendly and helpful. Well presented food and friendly staff really do make the difference between visiting and not visiting again. We will visit again.

Second time I have been here. The first time I came I had a mixed grill and it would lovely today had topside beef again a very nice meal portion size was great and 2 for 1 on the mains makes it a very fair price.. Only criticism is the beef was just a bit overdone. The staff are very friendly helped and welcoming 😊

Came in for food staff were amazing, Shannon and the chef Rob. Our food was cooked perfectly, Shannon got us a round of drinks whilst we were eating so we didn’t have to let our food go cold. Nice atmosphere brilliant staff and lovely place overall. Thank you, we will definitely be back

I had never been here before. Went for my partners birthday as he used to work here many years ago. The staff were brilliant and were so friendly and helpful. The food was perfect, nice and hot and didn’t have to wait too long.

Used to love going here for a family treat as the meals were all two for one, but now they no longer offer this. Unfortunately, it makes it an expensive treat now, even with the lower menu prices. Staff are always lovely and friendly and the food is great, just a shame about the offer being withdrawn (I think it may be a Marston's decision not this pub).

Just popped in for a quick drink and two burgers i must say the service I received was absolutely amazing the girl on the bar was very helpful and nothing was too much to ask, the chefs in the kitchen deserve a medal they got our food out on time and pipping hot like it should be would definitely recommend the ultimate burgers chicken and the beef they were so nice the meat was absolutely beautiful. Waiting staff were also really great brought over some water for our dog thanks for the experience dog and duck will be definitely coming back soon.

Good Afternoon, thank you for the opportunity to give feedback. We have dined at the Dog and Duck on several occasions so didn't foresee any problems, however, we did experience some problems. We had to wait for over an hour before our main courses were served. One of the courses did not come with the gravy as specified in the menu but a replacement was later offered when the meal was served which turned out to be lukewarm. Chips and fries didn't seem to be completely cooked and also lukewarm. When requesting two desserts, one of which was the praline and chocolate tart the other being something of the specials menu, we were told in an unfriendly tone by a member of the bar staff that these were no longer available. Overall, not a good experience. On a positive note the waiting staff were friendly and efficient. Would we go again? Probably but not for some time. I hope this helps. Pete

A great place located in Shardlow. It is a Marstons pub so at least you know your getting good food. But here the food was amazing. Really great portion sizes and the fish was huge and really well cooked with crispy batter!! And the chicken stack burger was amazing!! All the staff were really attentive and super friendly!! It really was pleasant to see the staff so nice and happy. These days you don't really see that! Well done to the whole team from the cleaners because it was super clean to the chef because the food was amazing to the waiting staff for being so smiley and wonderful and to the manager for having such a great team! Oh and the beer garden is great too as the tables aren't close together so your not crammed in! Brilliant place

A warm friendly meeting from the start, shown to our reserved table in a pleasant room and the seating was very comfortable. After ordering the food and drinks, we were not left waiting long. The food was plentiful and hot, with a previous check to confirm our order. We were not bothered and did not feel rushed to finish up. Finishing off with a generous sized desert, the meal was perfect. Can not wait for another reason to come back for another superb meal. Thank you.

We booked a table for 8 people but only 6 were able to attend, we were assured that it wasn't a problem. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table by a very very pleasant young lady. The order was placed at the bar and we eagerly awaited our food order, it wasn't too long before it arrived and it didn't disappoint. The food tasted excellent according to everyone, however the food was not as hot as it could have been but it was all consumed with gusto. The service was excellent all the staff seemed to be happy, Gaynor and Kate were really pleasant and it was a pleasure to be there, we were made very welcome. The atmosphere was really nice too, a good time was had! If I was to give one word to describe the time we spent in the Dog & Duck that day it would be....CRACKING!!

Good food, but the menu is pricey for a chain. That said, there is a "two for one" offer and also, at the time of posting, there was a 30% discount and both of these pretty much halved the bill. Wait service was good, but on the bar, there was only two working. They were great, but at times, there were long waits as people were ordering food and drinks which took time. Would definitely go back, but probably only with the option to reduce the cost of the food as most of the menu is expensive for standard pub fare.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday was up meeting friends I've not seen for a long time and was made to feel very welcome by the team. The food was lovely, next time I'll skip starter to save space for the sticky toffee pudding as that looked amazing! I wasn't jealous one bit when my friends had one 🙈. Will definitely be back again soon when I'm in the area 😃

Booked a table at short notice and the staff were helpful and accommodating. There was plenty of parking available. We booked asking to bring our small dog and this was no problem. We are able to enter the restaurant from the entrance at the front and the gentleman who greeted us was incredibly helpful, friendly and had a positive attitude - very bubbly and cheerful. Orders are taken at the bar and the lady who served my husband was absolutely lovely. Our waitress was attentive and polite and made sure we were ok. Food was delicious and piping hot. We were informed of any wait times when ordering. This is a brilliant place to eat and would definitely recommend a visit. We visited as we were on holiday in the area.

Came in for the Tuesday quiz night with my partner and his friends. Had an amazing time, we tried the new menu which was stunning, I had the cheese leek and potato pie 🥧 which I highly recommend and to top it off I treated myself to a yummy toffee waffle 🧇 absolutely delicious. Atmosphere and food were amazing. Staff were incredibly friendly, will definitely return!
