Afternoon tea absolutely fantastic. Service impeccable & the food gorgeous ( especially the scones). The location and ambient music made the experience memorable (this is NOT an afternoon tea in a packed noisy 'shop,' that you have to queue to be seated). This was by far the best afternoon tea we've ever had. We finished off the 'tea' with a walk in the gardens - which were exquisite. Would definitely recommend.

Booked a two night stay as a treat for my wife for our 12th wedding anniversary. Stayed here before in October for business which had a classy beautiful room but without a view, however this time I paid extra for a double room with a view. However, the room was extremely basic, beige paint on the wall, furnitures were less elaborate than Premier Inn's. There was a part of the wall with a brown stain. Standing shower with temperature limited, could have been warmer. The room wasn't worth the price we paid. However, the hotel as a whole was great, the kind you would see in murder mystery films. The breakfast was second to none. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It has one of the most beautiful gardens outside. The view from above during autumn was stunning. Would I go there again? I would but I won't pay the same price I did the last time.

We stayed at the small caravan site in the grounds of Wortley Hall. There are only 5 pitches, all well serviced and maintained. The facilities are the best I have encountered with excellent showers. The grounds are beautiful and the bar does good food, including gluten free options. Highly recommended

The hotel from outside View is amazing, an the grounds are beautiful. The room was clean but dated. The hotel inside is dated. It definitely needs a lick of paint. And the need to hire some better cleaners. The dust on the centre stairs was disgusting, spider webs. In the eating area I looked up to a grave yard of insects in the light. The carpets need cleaning. This place feels like it's been neglected. Which is a massive shame. I wouldn't recommend. And I won't be going back.

From the exterior and the grounds that this estate sits on it is beautiful and grand. The rooms are in desperate need of updating and definitely needs cleaning! We had two rooms booked and both where too small and unpleasant with no aircon. Breakfast was the usual acceptable options nothing special. We ordered dinner on one night and it was exceptionally well presented and tasteful. Avoid staying when there are weddings taking place. We made this mistake and found that music was extremely loud until 1am! The wedding party guests were easily heard during their boozy partying and lots of foul language being shouted. If you have children with you on your stay, please check ahead that there are no weddings booked at the same time of your stay. Lots of pleasant walking on the acres of the estate grounds. The wedding parties spoilt what should of been a relaxing stay, even though the rooms were unpleasant. Premier Inn & Travel Lodge rooms will out class these rooms, hands down! Staff were at the expected level of assistance, nothing exceptional.

James and I married at Wortley Hall recently and wow, it was an amazing day! On the run up to the big day, Wortley staff and in particular, Chloe, were amazing with us. Nothing was too big or too small and they were very attentive. Every need was catered for and we were made to feel important by the staff. We were very well looked after by the team. Our big day ran so smoothly, the food was divine and the DJ was brilliant. We really did have an amazing time and our guests have all commented on how beautiful the grounds are and how amazing the day was. Thank you to all the lovely staff that made our day perfect. And special thanks to Chloe, it was a pleasure

Had afternoon today and it was really enjoyable. The young waitress was pleasant and helpful, freshly made sandwiches and scones and the selection of cakes were all tasty. Shall definitely return

Went for afternoon tea and was totally blown away......one of the best afternoon teas that we've ever had. Sandwich fillings very tasty and selection of pastries totally delicious. Staff extremely efficient and friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely come back here again, a total gem!

The hall is stunningly beautiful along with its gardens and is surrounded by postcard scenery. The staff are extremely helpful especially Sarah on reception. The interior itself is tired and dated in places but overall cleanliness was good. The hall is constantly being updated and I would recommend a stay.

I attended my daughters wedding reception yesterday 13th August, and I can honestly say it was absolutely beautiful. The staff were so welcoming and hard working. The venue is second to none and the meal was faultless. It was so tasty and cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone.

Lovely afternoon tea - the best I've ever had. The service was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Great ratio between sweet and savoury: the sausage roll and scones deserve a special mention.

My family have been going all our lives. Our Grandparents were involved with Wortley. We are never disappointed. The South Yorkshire show was brilliant. Thank you everyone for always going over and above for us.

Just had our wedding at Wortley Hall, what a beautiful setting for a winter wedding, the weather was awful outside but we got some beautiful pictures inside with all the grand features. The staff were very friendly and helpful, Claire the wedding coordinator ran our day so smoothly. The winter wedding packages are good value for money and our friends and family were really impressed with the gorgeous food. Fantastic party later, DJ has the dancefloor full all night. Would highly recommend a Wortley wedding

Thank you Wortley Hall for such a fantastic stay, I was greeted by a lady on reception who was very friendly helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel is amazing my room was on the first floor you go up a magnificent staircase I stayed in room 22 which overlook the front of the building. The room was clean and very comfortable, loved the shower very powerful. I normally struggle to sleep in hotels and this was one of the best night sleep I had in a long time. The history of the hotel is very interesting and the way it helps the local community as well Thank you Wortley hall for such a pleasant stay

Recently had our wedding there. Great location, great garden/grounds and the hotel is huge, amazing/historical decor. Food was brilliant, very tasty, good portions sizes (lots of empty plates which is always a good sign), drinks were good too. The waiting staff, receptionist and the wedding manager were great, friendly and helpful. Bar staff were a bit slow (near reception) and more interested in talking to each other at the back of the bar. Only other issues were that areas needed repair work (damp issues, ladybird infestations and lock on the bathroom door in the bridal suite was broken). But overall the wedding was great and everyone was happy and pleased with their time at Wortley Hall

We had our wedding here on 31st August 2023 and I cannot thank Jonathan, Chloe and the team at Wortley Hall enough for their services and efforts to making our day truly special. From the get-go, they were so welcoming and accommodating, and every step of the way was made very easy for us to plan our big day; always on the end of the phone and replied timely to emails. You also can never get bored of listening to Jonathan's dreamy Welsh accent... The venue is stunning, and we were lucky enough to have our ceremony outside. We had endless compliments about the venue and how nice it was. What really impressed me was that, when we first looked around, there were a few imperfections which Jonathan promised would rectify, and to their credit they did, including tarmacing the driveway, new carpets inside and renovating the floor in the ballroom. We also had many compliments about the food, which I agreed was fantastic. The rooms are quite different in terms of size and decor but I think works with the quirk and age of the building. My one and only gripe would be proper signage instead of laminated A4 sheets but if that's the only one then that says it all. We visit regularly anyway as we live local, and will continue to visit as it now holds a special place in our hearts and provides and reasonably priced pint! Thank you all once again 🙏 Photos provided by Yorkshire Portraits

Beautiful historical building, fabulous wedding venue. Great food and bars. Beautiful surroundings. If you're a walker, this is a great place to start and finish.

The grounds here are lovely. Beautiful walk round the wilder parts where nature is allowed to take over. The more formal parts of the garden are undergoing regeneration but from past experiences they are simply lovely when in full bloom.

I enjoyed the location that's very well set out some real historical things if you look up at ceilings not so easy to get around if you're in a solo manual wheelchair, to be fair most old buildings were not made for wheelchairs. Freshly prepared food and extremely good standard.

Attended cousin's wedding. Staff were brilliant in really helpful. Impressive building, a bit run down but no problems. Good wedding venue. Gardens were impressive. Twenty six acres 2 gardeners. Well done lads. Lovely large twin with shower over bath. You have to stand in bath to put taps on unless you have long arms. Bar food very.nice.

I received a lovely Christmas gift for afternoon tea for 2 at Wortley Hall. We had a wonderful afternoon. The food was great, the scones and Bakewell pie delicious and the tea and coffee served in our own China tea/coffee pot. The staff were very friendly. It's situated in lovely surroundings and a real afternoon treat. Highly recommended

A beautiful building. We had a gift voucher for afternoon tea. Booking was easy and we were greeted by the receptionist. Promptly shown to a table in one of the beautiful function rooms. The service and the food were lovely.

Had an overnight stay in this gloriously idiosyncratic venue. The wonderful structure and decor are a sight to be seen, whilst the dedication to the Labour movement from the late eighteen hundreds to the present time is a surprising joy to explore throughout the house. We loved it. We also enjoyed the lunch and the breakfast that we ate there. The service wasn't slick during the day but it was friendly and cheerful which suits us. And we loved being able to walk all around the gardens, admire the views and follow some of the Pennine way. Also the village is pleasant with church bells ringing, a village shop, pub and farm shop. We think it's a wonderful place to stay.

Great place to stay and unwind lots of history in this place relating to the days of the unions and a strong labour party. Now run as a not for profit. It mainly caters for weddings so always a lively place

I spent the weekend at an event at Wortley hall. The company was amazing. Shame the good ended there. However the hotel was vile. My room had mould in the windows plaster coming off the walls and mould all over the shower head. When complaining about this at reception this was responded to with disdain and even after i had been told it had been cleaned it had not been. Eventually the shower head was replaced. (Shame I’d showered in it before seeing this). When asking if this had been done I was told it’s be nice now I could have a shower. (Urm no - it would have been nice if I hadn’t had a mould tainted shower in the first instance). Corridors were not cleaned. I had to specifically request wasps were vacuumed off the floor. The rest of the hall way was left. The food was generally cold and none of the waitresses could tell us what they were serving. (Through the hatch in. The room next to the dining room). Drinks were not served with dinner. These had to be fetched - but none of the waitresses thought to tell us this. It was like being in a cheap hostel. We were crammed in like sardines in public places. Posters in the hotel told us they were encouraging mask use and then staff had them on their chins or not at all. None of the masses of wedding guests had them on. The mattress was lumpy and the window had a draft as it wouldn’t close properly. The entire setting was a shambles. I visited last year when we were in stricter lockdown measures and it was functioning better then. Seriously avoid. Unless it’s for a gift for the mother in law who you are trying to disappoint intentionally. Even then it’s too harsh a punishment.

We stayed 3 nights in our motorhome. A definite revisit. Friendly staff. Spotless facilities. Good walking. The local farm shop and village shop well stocked
