Cardinia Reservoir is the local holding reservoir for the eastern side of Melbourne's water. Apart from that it is simply beautiful. The reservoir itself is not accessible but on the western side there is a large park with good facilities and play equipment and a lot of places you can go on short bushwalks. There are toilets at Crystal Brook Picnic Area. You can walk most of the dam wall at the Harkway end towards the outlet works.

Great spot for a picnic. Has some sheltered picnic tables. Nice walking tracks. Great playground. Toilet block - however they are currently closed. (closest public toilets would be in Emerald)

The walk along the dam wall & bush tracks are great. Lots of weeds including spanish heath Parks Vic. More local planting would be good.

Went to Cardinal Reservoir on Saturday Morning, the drive from city to Cardinia Reservoir was pleasant for a Canberran guys like me, took an hour for a returning trip walking across the wall over the dam or reservoir. Definitely a great place to go for a get-away weekend for few hours 😅

This is our second visit to this cute little reservoir. Easy to get to on Wellington Road, sufficient parking in multiple locations-2 on the dam and more near the park/playgrounds. Walk is so unique and beautiful-One side you have beautiful blue waters and on the opposite green mountains and valleys. You definitely get to see a kangaroo or two. Great place for a family getaway, dog walkers and fitness enthusiasts love it too. You can get some quality panos, portraits for sure.

For great photographic moments, visit this place 1 hour before sunset and probably same for sunrise. We haven't done the bush walks yet but the walk beside the reservoir is just beautiful especially during the "magic" hours. If you have time, have a picnic here and enjoy the walks and the views. This is a park that is well taken care of, plenty of things for kids and the family, and you can see kangaroos in the wild. Enjoy!

Great place for a picnic. The reservoir makes for a picturesque setting. Last time I visited there were dozens of kangaroos around. You can't swim in the lake which is understandable as it supplies most of the South east's drinking water.

Simply a beautiful place for a picnic and just relax in the beautiful lawns and great trees all over the grounds. The views of the Reservoir and surrounds just take your breathe away. Enjoy the breeze as you look over the edge and just realise how lucky we are to have such a place so close for everyone..

Cardy Reservoir is the most important recreational location within this region - for locals and tourists. Arrived Cardinia dam 5.30 pm - GATE CLOSED - AGAIN !!!!! Repair works going on AGAIN , but no INFORMATION ON WEBSITE at all AGAIN !!! This means people waste precious hours out of their busy lives,. and this has happened throughout the years. Melbourne water just does not give a damn. . The way that Melbourne Water management mistreats the public is totally unacceptable. MINUS 5 STARS

What a great sight, th ed park offers k as ngaroo sighting come early in the morning

This place is so calming and beautiful. It has a huge park with an amazing view. Great place to go with your family and have a BBQ or if you just want to take a walk and enjoy the scenery.

It supplies a large amount of Melbourne's water, what's not to like? Has a great loop walking track and the Dam wall is quite something to see from on top or along the base.

Should have been expanded many many moons ago,, then pipelined to the Wonthaggi declination plant to fill and maintain it,, I don't think people realize how low it had dropped about ten years ago,, it was extremely low,, it should then after being expended be placed with a monument for those that worked in its construction place on a preplanned site atop elephant ? rock mountain ?
