There are rows of volleyball courts, ten in total, set-up on the beach and the nets are always up so it's the perfect place to practice/train or have a match (need to bring your own lines and ball). VicBeach regularly run tournaments and events at the courts on South Melbourne Beach. If you're not a player yourself then come down and watch beach volleyball at it best. It's a great atmosphere. There is some but limited on-street parking in the area of the beach and a tram might be a better option. The Route #1, East Coburg - South Melbourne Beach tram stops right at the corner of Beaconsfield Parade and Victoria Avenue.

This place is very popular and has even become internationally-famous among semi-pro and professional players. There are regular events, trainings and tournaments.

Nice beach with alot of space, and good for the sea side volleyball game, enjoyed this place...have stayed there for more than 1 hours exploring the place and looking at the people playing the volleyball match... Would recommend it for a good game space for the people with good athletic build up... it should be hard and energy taking to play in the sand, for sure..

The weather is beautiful, warm wind, pleasant sand underfoot and warm water. A coconut washed up on the shore, apparently they were loading food onto the ship and it fell into the water into my hands.
