A historic bridge with a width that reminds me of the aisles of Terra Madre.

The FAIRFIELD PIPE BRIDGE, crossing the Yarra, is about 5 km east of Melbourne's CBD, located just south of the Fairfield Boat House and Fairfield Park which as ample of parking. Do follow the parking instructions even though parking is Free it has limited hours which are different at various points around there The narrow bridge is open to pedestrians, and although no bicycles are to be ridden on it. Fairfield Bridge seems to be hidden in the tall Eucalyptus Trees on there either side of the river and the bridge. Fairfield Boat House is a must visit place for a Coffee and a cake and if you feel more adventurous give a go for rowing in the river. They have various size of boats to accommodate a family or a small group. We went just before Christmas of 2020 and the weather was great, as it is surrounded by tall trees you don't feel hot at all. As you climb down the path, you come across a theatre with steps made of stone and one can hear the sound of birds and Ducks which gather around there all the time. You will have a few Picnic areas and BBQ's too. The Toilets are located at the top near the parking which also is surrounded by a Big ground too. It Does make one of the Best Half Day Trip destination in the City. If you Love to Bicycle then follow the Yarra Trail Bicycle route, its simply a great ride through the parks and around the river. Walking on the top of the Bridge is really Awesome experience, although there is nothing on the other side one can just walk there and come around to take a look at the Magnificent Boat House. This destination is one of the Hidden Gems in the City, a must visit for the local Melbournians.

Great for joggers, cyclists and walkers. Nice views over the Yarra River. Very close to an excellent tea house and boat hire service. The Pipe Bridge won't be the highlight of your day but it's a point of interest nonetheless. This spot popular with tourists and good for families with children. Free street parking nearby and access to facilities is step-free, if steep in places.

This is most certainly a very interesting bridge, you get a really great view of the Yarra to see some nearby bird life, it has a few turns to the bridge that make it seem like the bridge goes on for a very long time.

Nice place for a weekend walk. Pipe bridge takes you to a boat house and a tea garden excellent for a picnic. The bridge also takes you to some hiking trails along the yarra river worth exploring. Be aware that a lot of cyclists use the bridge along with pedestrians. Families with prams be mindful that only one pram can transit at a time.

This was a cute and easy walk (up to the bats and back, we didn't do a loop) with all fitness types and could have the dogs too. So many people out and about when we went but also the cafe nearby is beautiful and if it hadn't been raining I would have absolutely rented a little row boat.

PROVIDES A SENSE OF ADVENTURE There is actually a functioning pipe spanning the water and their is a walkway along it... not quite Indiana Jones but quite fun for young (and young at heart). Surrounded by the natural beauty of the river valley

Great piece of local history. Great views of the Yarra river below too. However path is narrow for current pedestrian traffic.

Historical pipe bridge across the Yarra River. Can be crossed by foot and with a bike (though you should walk with your bike for safety of yourself and others). The bridge itself is a unique sight in the landscape, and can best be seen from the boathouse or from an actual boat on the river. From the bridge, you can enjoy the view on the river, the boathouse and the trees. Lots of birds can often be seen in the trees as well. The bridge connects you from the boathouse to a few nice walking trails along the Yarra on the opposite side of the river.

It's a old railroad bridge in a small park. Nothing special about it. But it was mentioned as a tourist site. So I went to check it out, if you have time or are nearby, then visit it , otherwise don't bother.
